About
Rahkar is a renegade environmentalist and anti-slave activist from The Verrean-Qelur Alliance. Prior to joining the Jade Owls, he and his adoptive Verrean sister, Tai, would travel the seas freeing slaves and disrupting trading ships. Through unusual circumstances she has become a member of The Jade Owls and is currently the Falaina's engineer, upgrading and repairing the ship as needed.
Personality
Rahkar is a warm-hearted, chill, amiable guy who is usually calm and collected, being one of the more rational members of the team aside from Derrick, though he also has a tendency to tease. But, when he gets angry, he can become a pretty fierce guy, especially to things that really irk him.
Miscellaneous
Rahkar speaks with an accent which, to Human ears, sounds like a combination of Indian English with Polynesian.
He works with Vai in creating weapons for The Jade Owls sometimes.
Like all Verreans and Qelurs, Rahkar can transform into a tree, but only does so when he needs to regenerate from illness. Transforming into the actual tree is no sweat and doesn’t take that long, but changing back can take a long time and can be very painful and tiring. He can however turn some of his limbs (i.e. his arms) into roots which he uses as a weapon, and it takes 45 minutes to an hour for his arms to regenerate.
As he is a plant lifeform, when the sun goes down, so does he. At night he becomes extremely sleepy.
Rahkar is technically a priest, or rather a shaman of Pahenti, the nature “religion” of the Verreans and Qelurs. Pahenti is not so much a religion, but more of a way of life. Pahenti stresses the importance of nature, every creature, plant, and stone has life. Life which must be protected and respected. Unlike most religions, Pahenti does not have a scripture, and nothing is set in stone and almost everybody can become a shaman, so long as they pass training. Rahkar passed the training and became a shaman. He tries to incorporate Pahenti into his daily life.
Despite his environmentalist background and the fact he is a plant, he has a strong interest in machinery, much to the shock and confusion of his family. He is the Fálaina’s designated repairman because he is such a prodigy in airship repair.
Rahkar is a major foodie and a serious gourmand, he enjoys trying all foods, especially spicy and vegetarian dishes. He is constantly asking Chaat to make new dishes he hears about or ones that are in the cookbooks of the Fálaina’s library. For all his politeness, Rahkar is a messy pig of an eater.
Rahkar absolutely cannot swim due to his massive size, luckily in case of emergencies, Vai constructed a special flotation device in case the ship may go down.
