opinion on mune x sahone?

While I'm on the ask-replying spree, I've been thinking about this one for a while and finally wanted to get around to it! I honestly never knew the ship was a thing, and at first was a little skeptical admittedly; they butt heads so much in the story, though they DO develop a nice dynamic by the end of it. I looked around at a lot of art of the two and it's grown on me a lot, it's quite cute! I've also seen a lot of Mune x Glim x Sohone, which is a nice combo! I love a good polyamorous ship, and given their feelings towards each other, I could see it! <3

I'd draw some art of the two/three but am having a bit of an art block rn, but hopefully I can get around to drawing them soon enough >:D

What do you think about Sohone?

Initially, didn't like him, but i warmed up to him really quickly, tbh! He's a goofball and he takes himself too seriously in the wrong way, but he learns from that. He accepts humility and help and teamwork, and seems really resolute to learn to do and be better after everything is said and done.

I have a few headcanons about him, such as, he's dyslexic, which is why he doesn't 'like to read'. He didn't know that's a thing and just thought reading wasn't for him, which either lead to or added to his focus on physical attributes and skills like harpooning and ironwork.

In conclusion, he's a lovely guy and very funny and sincere, once you get past his Ego. X3

What do you think, why did Sohone become the way he is? And maybe he has problems with self-esteem? If yes, then why?

It's been a while since I've answered these Sohone-focused asks! I'm sorry for the delay, good ol' ADHD left me neglecting Tumblr for a while ^^;; But oooh, honestly I've never thought to deep-dive Sohone's character so much... I mean, he probably does have some deeper self-esteem issues, especially given his initial envy towards Mune's more naturally caring (and "lady attracting") demeanor compared to his own. I do wish we had more knowledge on his character's backstory, though if we want to get into full headcanons, I can come up with a theoretical one! The first time we're introduced to him, it's portrayed that he'd dedicated his life and prepared restlessly to become the Guardian of the Sun. While the way one is chosen as a candidate (or rather THE candidate) as a guardian isn't explored, but maybe that's something that is chosen at birth? Or maybe it's something like a competition in early life, where the day and night folk can pursue education in learning the history and responsibilities of their respective guardian if they want to become one. As for how they test if someone is worthy... Well, strength is most definitely one of the trials. Admittedly, with Sohone's behaviour (a more "brawns over brain" type), I wonder how many intelligence and knowledge-based trails are included too, and how he might have passed them. With his "gifted kid" vibe, maybe favouritism and popularity came into play; I could see it being a "the people choose who they want to be the next guardian" situation, especially given how well known and fawned over he is.

Given that, perhaps he was forced into it as a kid; parents who wanted their child to be the next guardian, because they missed their chance and wanted to live through him. Impressionable and young, he assumed that's just what he was destined for, the highest honour, his purpose. With so much praise, especially for his strength, it got to his head, and thus he ended up the character we see in the movie.

This is all VERY theoretical and a little stereotypical of a backstory for a character of his type, but it could be plausible? That's my best guess, anyways!
