ꕥ — WELCOME TO EXO COSMIA, AINEN ROSSO. 🌑
Tumblr media
ꕥ  — OOC INFORMATION;
name / alias: Xanthe age: 23 pronouns: none ooc contact: architectureteam @ tumblr other characters in xc: Noah Ebalon (Nyx Pieta)
ꕥ  — IC INFORMATION;
name: Ainen Rosso age: 43 pronouns: they/he series: Elsword canon point: Monaterra app triggers: human/child experimentation, eye horror/trauma, character death, imprisonment
personality: Rosso, the El Master of Fire, perfectly encapsulates his element on the surface. He's hot-headed, stubborn and arrogant, with an explosive temper to boot; he gets easily tunnel-visioned on his own ideas, refusing to acknowledge other people's viewpoints (he's used to getting what he wants, or else). Ruthless and vicious, his entire demeanor screams you'd best not get in his way; he'll burn you to ashes if you try.
Deeper down, past his fiery personality is a heart of gold. He's incredibly emotional, but opts to hide most of his feelings instead. He cares deeply about the people he knows, even if he displays said worry in his own hostile, roundabout way. He's a loner at heart, and has trouble openly displaying any affection, instead lashing out to stop people from getting close to him. He doesn't like to talk, either, preferring to just sit in silence whenever possible, shying away from any conversation or small talk. Contrary to how he behaves, he doesn't hold himself in high regard. He dehumanizes himself often, and tends to beat himself up for not living up to his own unrealistic goals, pushing himself to extreme ends to cover up for his weaknesses - often he can be found training until the brink of collapse.
He threatens others habitually, seeing intimidation and violence as a way to exert control, but even though he doesn't shy away from threats, he doesn't want to actually hurt others, so it's pretty easy to call his bluff when you get to know him. Don't push him too far, though: he will if he deems the situation extreme enough to. He's gone through his own world of suffering, and he doesn't want anyone else to suffer the same way he did.
Good luck getting him to admit he doesn't actually hate you, though.
something your muse struggles with: Putting himself before the greater good. He's definitely a very selfish person when it comes to personal matters, but only then. When it comes down to the world at large, Rosso will be one of, if not the very first to offer himself up, usually to the detriment of himself and those around him.
your muse’s greatest strength: He's stubborn and nigh unable to dissuade. This could also be seen as a bad thing, but it means he's impossible to demoralize, whether because things are going bad or through mental manipulation. He's seen it all before, he'll keep going no matter what you throw at him.
history / background: The city of Elrianode, capital of Elrios. At its heart lied the El - an enormous blue crystal that gave life to the land. The El was protected by seven people - the El Lady, a woman chosen directly by a goddess, and six El Masters of different elements who helped the El Lady protect the El. Being an El Master was a title of great prestige, granted only to the most adept users of a certain element; much conflict came to be in the struggle to become El Master.
Not everyone in Elrianode was capable of magic, though. There were those who couldn't control the El, and so couldn't use magic - Debrians they were called, and they turned to science in order to make a name for themselves. One of these Debrians was the Rosso family, who, despite their lack of magical attunement, desperately wished to bring forth a Fire Master with perfect control over fire. The El Master didn't just bring glory to themselves - their family would obtain great privileges as well.
They went to inhumane lengths to do so. Being unable to control El energy on their own, they instead turned to human experimentation to try and create the ultimate Fire Master - but as fire was the most dangerous element of all, time after time after time, the people they worked with burned themselves out. Any progress they made was scarce.
That is, until they got their hands on subject B-99, formerly named Ainen. Ainen was born a half-demon - and this power of demons inside of it allowed it to subdue the fire energy, allowing it to control it more reliably. This still wasn't enough, however. They wanted it to have even more power.
So they took out its right eye, replacing it with the Crimson Eye - an eye that belonged to a powerful demon lord named Stirbargen - which infused its body with incredible levels of demonic energy that perfected its control over fire. This unique mastery of fire quickly found it seated as the Fire Master of its generation, and from that point on, it was no longer B-99, but instead Ainen Rosso, El Master of Fire.
As powerful as it made him, this harmony of fire and demonic energy created a perilous balance within his body. If one were to be disturbed, the other would spiral out of control. Rosso knew this, and he knew it would become a problem sooner rather than later, so he devoted much of his time to intense training, hoping he could gain the power to control both elements for when things would inevitably go wrong.
Which didn't take too long. One day, the El exploded, wiping Elrianode off the map and throwing the land into darkness. The El Masters decided to pour their elemental energy into fragments of El scattered across the lands in order to create elemental El shards that could make its surrounding environment inhabitable. For most of them this was no issue, and not worth a second thought… save for Rosso. After traveling out far, eventually finding a sufficient El Shard, he poured most of his fire energy into it, disrupting the harmony within his body and causing his demonic energy to start overtaking him and making him go berserk. With his final moments of clarity, he escaped into a dimensional rift formed by the El's explosion, retreated to another world, and sealed himself away in a tower for many, many years, in order to stop himself from going on a rampage in an already wounded Elrios.
Eventually, the El ended up restored. The El's restoration caused a surge of energy to spread throughout the land - even in this other world, Rosso could feel this energy, and started stirring. The restoration of the El also reawakened the fire energy that was originally inside the separated El Shard, which started finding its way back to him. Because of the tower imprisoning him, said power of fire couldn't return to his body, and started going out of control without the demonic energy to keep it in check, creating a blazing aura that destroyed the surrounding area and caused catastrophic damage.
The El Search Party made its way to the demon realm not long after - the same world Rosso was in. They were asked (read: tricked) by Stirbargen to go deal with this blazing aura, and ended up freeing him from his imprisonment, who had lost all sanity and was out solely to destroy. While fighting him, he managed to burn off his excess demonic energy, allowing him to regain control, and with the help of the party and the Wind Master, made his way back to Elrianode.
Now, Rosso just spends his time tending to the El as the El Master of Fire… but more importantly, he's always training, trying to make up for all the power he lost after losing the Crimson Eye. Though he still has the demonic energy from being a half-demon, he has lost much of it, and now has to control the element of fire through willpower and training alone.
It's an incredibly risky and dangerous occupation, being the El Master of Fire - but he wouldn't want anyone else to do it. He's the only one fit for the job.
powers / abilities:
Fire manipulation:Rosso can expertly control fire El energy, allowing him to create fire out of thin air and manipulate already existing fire, whether magical or natural. He can use said fire powers to create objects out of fire as well, eventually solidifying them into something permanent if he wishes. Armed with the Crimson Eye, his fire manipulation has no limit, but without the demonic energy emanated by the eye, he has to show far more restraint: misuse of it could very well cause the fire energy to spiral out of control and kill him, after all.
Demonic energy manipulation:Though he usually doesn't use it, instead only letting the demonic energy in his body work as a restraint for his fire energy, he can weaponize it. Demonic energy usually materializes as evil, darkness-esque energy, allowing him to make bursts of demonic energy, fire it like beams, and control it like it's a physical substance. His control over it is incredibly limited though, as he's never properly trained with it. He can, however, manipulate it in such a way that it works as an empowerment by resonating with his demonic energy, accessing a special state where he temporarily grows horns and a tail and embraces his half-demon side. This empowerment further increases his physical capabilities and fire powers. Using the powers of the Crimson Eye, he can also willingly make himself go berserk, but...
Teleportation: Rosso can teleport! It's only short-range teleportation, though, and he can't take anyone with him. There's no other limits or cooldown on it.
inherent abilities:
Half-demon physiology: As a half-demon, Rosso is physically superior over normal humans. He's stronger, faster, has heightened endurance and reflexes, and has some cool little features like claws, slit pupils, fangs and pointy ears. Furthermore, he comes with heightened senses, and he possesses a strong darkvision. He can't see perfectly in pitch blackness, but no matter the light level, he can find his way around comfortably and reliably. Yes, this also means he has eye shine.
Immunity to fire and heat: As a natural effect of being so attuned with the Fire El, Rosso has grown to resist the element of fire to an unnatural degree. He can withstand extremely high temperatures without any injury or discomfort, and can even catch fire without actually burning up. Anyone trying to attack him with fire is going to be incredibly disappointed, as he is essentially immune. He could stand inside of a raging inferno without any problems. (Except for that he still needs oxygen.)
Resistance to poisons: Rosso is naturally resistant to all different sorts of poisons as a virtue of being a half-demon. It's not an immunity, a strong enough poison or high enough dose can still mess him up, but it takes quite a bit to take him down. He's also resistant to sedatives of any kind along with this, and requires far higher doses of most modern medicine to get them to work. Things like painkillers work by disrupting your bodily functions, after all.
Energy sensing:As an El Master, Rosso's natural ability to sense all sorts of types of energy emanated by people is vastly superior to that of normal people in his universe. He can feel energy in a large radius around him, allowing him to 'feel' things and people even when he cannot see them, allowing him to use this sense as a radar. He is mostly attuned to sensing different kinds of El energy and derivatives of it (like elemental El energy or Henir energy), and demonic energy by virtue of being a half-demon. This means that, for example, he can tell if a person is attuned to a specific element, if they're part of the Elsword universe, and if they are a demon or not. He could learn to identify people by the very specific energy pattern they emit, but that would take a long time.
items / weapons:
Scythe: It's a big, decorated fiery scythe of fire. The scythe's blade is normally a basic light grey metal, but he can set the blade on fire, giving it its unique fiery white and pink look. (1) (2). When transformed, the flames on his scythe turn black instead of white, and pink starts running through the handle. (3) (4). Rosso can also use his fire manipulation to summon and unsummon his scythe at will, and even attack remotely with it if he wants. It's a big chunky weapon and it'd be tiring to carry it around everywhere.
Crimson Eye: Stirbargen's Crimson Eye, and the wellspring of most of Rosso's demonic power. It's a bright red eye (the sclera are red as well) with a bright cyan pupil and another bright cyan ring around the pupil. It goes inside Rosso's right eye socket. Incredibly powerful, it augments Rosso's powers to unbelievable heights… but all the demonic energy could backfire on him just as easily. In his current state in canon, he's lost the Eye, but it'd be pretty funny if he got it back, huh.
starting ability: Fire manipulation starting item: Scythe
would you like this character to be housed upon arrival?: yes!
extra:
The fire Rosso creates is unique in every way: it is a bright pink with a white-hot center, requires no oxygen or fuel to burn and creates no smoke due to being magical, and burns eternally unless doused by magical means or via his own volition - it cannot be doused by mundane means. It can, however, be controlled by those who can control fire, as it is just fire at its core. Mind you, however, that if he wills it so, his fire can physically burn objects. It just doesn't have to.
His pink fire burns both body and soul - draining one's mental and magical power as it destroys the body. When people are set alight, Rosso's fire weaves themselves into their attacks whenever possible, adding a fiery edge to their attacks that empowers them further.
Strengthening his enemy's attacks could be considered counterproductive, but this process causes the fire to spread without his active interference, and furthermore, because of his unique connection to fire, any attacks empowered by his fire is incapable of hurting him, healing him instead. This does not apply to normal fire attacks of any other kind, which he is simply immune to - it has to very specifically be his fire. The fire in the attack shields him, completely nullifying the impact of magical attacks and causing physical attacks to harmlessly bounce off him, and is then absorbed, healing his own injuries. The stronger the attack, the more potent the heal is.
Because of the way his fire burns the soul, those with sufficient willpower can douse themselves through sheer strength of spirit if they are caught on fire, but this takes time, and more importantly, one's undivided attention, rendering them vulnerable to other threats. This also results in his fire powers bypassing any immunities or resistances to fire.
Rosso is 4'11", 5'1" with his heels. He hates it.
The El Search Party of his canon is the main, canonical one.

Not all of them. I have some.... *disappears into library* Aha, here is one. It is primarily an adventure; though there is a small romantic subplot it is easily ignored for nearly the entire book. It is called A Spell for Chameleon.
Tumblr media
[mun says: that's a real book! I first read it when I was, idk, 6? (It was NOT written for 6yos; don't give it to yours. I was a precocious reader.) It popped into my head, and I realized it's kind of fitting, actually? Some aspects anyway. Because Bink and Chameleon keep running into each other, and have a couple fights, but mostly they like each other, except when other people interfere. Chameleon is an unconscious shapeshifter-- she can't control it-- and Bink falls in love with all her forms (sound familiar?). Bink himself has quite powerful, and remarkably subtle magic. The focus is on his quest to not be banished/defeat the Evil Magician Trent. There are problems with writing and world, and it's admittedly pretty sexist, but I still love it.]
Is there any literature you genuinely enjoy and would possibly like to share with Aaravos?
Also, I'm happy to hear you are fond of corvids ;)
- Crow
I enjoy most fiction, but it should be well-written before I can enjoy it. Also, I suppose I am not a fan of anything that centers a romantic relationship above all else.
I enjoy heist stories, in which a band of diverse people become a team and accomplish a goal. I also enjoy reading tales of real people, narrative nonfiction and the like. So long as the characters are interesting and sympathetic, and there is no unnecessary or forced romance, I will enjoy it.
@aaravosanswers are all your fiction books romance oriented? If so, this will certainly be a tedious imprisonment.
Crows are very fun and clever creatures. Is it any wonder you named yourself after them and that I enjoy them?

@carelessadventurer
Thoughts on the character(s): From all our “behind the scenes” talks on Discord, they’re all fascinating. We’ve talked about Xanthe at length and everything she’s been through, Malquis is a character we both enjoy, and Otto... we talk about him and spitball ideas for him occasionally.
Have you interacted before: Multiple times. Multiple times and across multiple blogs.
Favorite part of portrayal: How chaotic and rebellious Xanthe can be.
One piece of advice: Take your time to get back to handling threads, bud. No rush. And maybe add some commas here and there with the big paragraph writing.
A verse (mine or theirs) I want a thread in: Anything works.
Thoughts on the mun: She’s a good friend of mine I made over in another fandom that we’ve both left behind. I think she brought up maybe making a blog for her D&D characters back then and I encouraged her to do it, which is why she made carelessadventurer. Because I wanted to goof around with fantasy plots for once rather than stick to rigid fandoms with set rules, I wound up making Izren and his blog not long after.
The two of us talk almost daily over DMs and we goof around over Genshin whenever we have the time.

“Mun” as in “Mundane” from Piers Anthony’s Xanth series.
But, yeah, I think it’s a reference to the “keyboard monkey” as we used to call ourselves, too.
I don't know what 'Mun' means, and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.
A lil surprised and confused to get this ask as I haven’t reblogged a ‘mun’ ask in awhile, but big same. I don’t know where the word came from or why, but I’ve figured out that it means the ‘writer’ of the character.
At least, I’m fairly sure that’s what it means.

(( felide isn’t an especially political muse so i won’t use sel’s post, but considering the nature of her character, her ties to xanthe (a rather political muse) and the core elements of her story, she will talk about things like hemoism more than your average joe muse. it’s an inseparable part of her story and i try to pay that its proper respects.
however, that story comes with a lot more touchy subjects. quoted from my about page:
This blog will contain mentions of: trauma (past), torture (past), slavery (past), self-destructive behaviors (recovering), grief (recovering), death, violence, blood, caste-based oppression, fire
in addition to the fact that the story of the signless mirrors the story of jesus in the christian bible.
each rper is responsible for their own health and well-being. i tag content, i warn muns before i drop heavy topics, but it will still be here, so make your own judgements about what you can and can’t handle, please.

This might be a dumb question, but would Xanthe's (Nina Dobrev) mun ever want her ex-fiance around. I know she doesn't have a wanted connection up for him, but I'm interested in it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
not a dumb question at all, perhaps shooting samiya a message over at @xanthcs if not, i’m sure she’ll reply to this when she see the tag !!

Thoughts on the character(s): We talk about them at length every time we hop into a Discord call. And I’ll never get tired of hearing more about them or talking about them. Otto, Xanthe, and Malquis all are incredibly interesting with wild pasts and interesting characteristics that you don’t exactly see often, which makes discussions all the more interesting.
Have you interacted before: Plenty of times. Though I kinda drop the ball a lot...
Favorite part of portrayal: What isn’t there to like? They’re all good.
One piece of advice: Again, none needed.
A verse (mine or theirs) I want a thread in: Doesn’t matter, since our muses can either goof around in their main fantasy-themed verses or in their Genshin verses.
Thoughts on the mun: Another friend of mine that I appreciate the absolute heck out of. Go follow.

ꕥ — WELCOME TO CATA COSMIA, NOAH EBALON. 🌓
Tumblr media
ꕥ  — OOC INFORMATION;
name / alias: Xanthe age: 23 pronouns: no ooc contact: @architectureteam on tumblr other characters in xc: the Saint
ꕥ  — IC INFORMATION;
name: Noah Ebalon (Nyx Pieta) age: 18 pronouns: he/they series: Elsword canon point: Monaterra app triggers: child abuse/neglect, cults, murder/assassination plots, human experimentation, child suicide & suicidal ideation (implied), disease, death, body horror (not gorey), unreality/delusional ways of thinking(?)
personality: Noah Ebalon is a quiet, withdrawn, downtrodden and sad boy. He's quiet and shy, preferring to stick to his own in fear that his presence will burden others. Reach out and welcome him though, and you'll find him a friendly, warming presence, a delight to be around, someone kind to everyone they meet.
Maybe a little too much.
Beneath that shy, anxious and somewhat childlike at times demeanor is a determined, driven young man who will stop at nothing to achieve his goals. He's turned his painful past into his drive, an all-consuming desire to help the weak and protect those in need. To make sure nobody suffers as he did. It's a drive so strong it's turned him into a martyr, doing whatever he can to help others, even if it hurts him in the end… or worse.
"To protect this world"… that was Harque's wish. Fuelled by self-flagellation and survivor's guilt, his brother's wish is now his own. It's his duty to uphold Harque's wishes, his legacy and his memory.
Even if he has to sacrifice all he has. Even if he has to sacrifice all he is. It's not fair that he lived and Harque, who carried everyone's hopes and dreams, didn't. This life he doesn't want to live - it belongs to Harque, not him.
So it's only fair he gives it back.
something your muse struggles with: Putting himself before others for a change. He's self-sacrificial to a fault, and doesn't care about what happens to him as long as it can help other people. your muse’s greatest strength: Empathy, kindness and determination. At the same time, these are so strong it directly relates back to his weaknesses.
history / background: Elrianode. The old capital of Elrios. The location of the El - a life-giving crystal granted to humans by their goddess Ishmael. This El required guardians, six masters of each element. Whichever family could produce such an El Master would be granted great fame, respect and prestige - so as you can imagine, the situation was cutthroat. Families would do whatever it would take to reach this fame.
In comes the Ebalon family. This family has long since procured El Masters that specialized in the element of Moon: a magical energy that represented both moonlight and darkness. They have done so generation after generation.
But not this time.
Their oldest son - Harque Ebalon - was born without the ability to control darkness. For the next Master of the Moon, this was inconceivable. Harque was pushed to his very limit, the intense training a future Master receives even further intensified to make up for his shortcomings.
Noah was born later.
Noah, in contrast to Harque, could not control moonlight. Instead, his natural affinity laid in darkness. The source of the Ebalon family's woes was finally discovered - Noah was to blame. He was shunned by his family, punished for the crime of being born and became little more than an afterthought… to everyone but Harque.
The two became incredibly close. Noah was Harque's little moon, and Harque was Noah's beacon within his endless dark.
While the Ebalon family accepted that they'd never create the next Master of the Moon this time, Harque was busy experimenting with the power of the moon. Through this, he discovered the power of time manipulation. Using this power, he intended to become the next Master of the Moon, so that Noah could hopefully live a better life.
Henir's Order, a cult with evil intentions, found out about Harque's discovery, and tried to convince him to join them. When he refused to cooperate, the Order began staging his assassination. On the night it all happened, Harque called Noah to his room, wanting to give him something. However, when Noah arrived, he found not just Harque, but also a mysterious intruder. Harque attempted to run away with Noah, but was attacked by the intruder and killed before he could do so. Noah ran away, crying out for help… but everyone in the house was already so thoroughly manipulated that they turned a blind eye. The mysterious intruder caught up to Noah, put him to sleep, and cast a spell that blocked his memories of the event.
Turns out the reason that the Order kept him alive instead of killing him was because they wanted to use him for an experiment. The mysterious stranger that killed Harque assumed his identity and became the next Master of the Moon. When someone officially becomes a Master, they are given pure elemental energy to inject into themselves to become stronger in their chosen element. However, instead of giving it to himself, the stranger injected Noah with it. This caused him to become incredibly sick, ending up bedridden because his body is unable to contain the power of moonlight. The impostor pretended to take care of Noah while he was sick, but every time he visited was only to further his own experiment.
Bedridden, poor Noah was subject to cruel experiments, and nobody in his family ever cared. This continued on for years, until the machinations of the new "Harque" caused the El to explode in a violent fashion. Noah managed to survive the explosion, as he had stayed at home because of his sickness that fateful day. Trapped under the rubble, he was rescued by some members of the Order… and they proceeded to take the final step in their experiment.
They injected Noah with the power of the sun. The power of the moon and the power of the sun are opposites. This opposition caused the power of darkness within Noah to mutate, turning it into the power of shadow. Though this stabilized his illness, granting him back a modicum of strength, this injection was immensely painful, and after an extended agony, he passed back out.
Soon after this explosion, he was approached by another Henir's Order member. This one had defected after seeing the chaos caused by the Order. She took him to a remote temple hidden somewhere within Elrios. After finally giving Harque's gift to him, a pendant filled with the power to manipulate time, she sealed him within the temple to fulfill Harque's dying wish - to make sure Noah survives.
There he slept, sealed in time, for over five hundred years… until one day, he suddenly awoke.
The very first thing he saw was a strange, sickle-shaped object, reminiscent of a weapon. The very first thing he heard was a scream. He took the weapon and ran. But with everything so new, so unfamiliar, he couldn't arrive in time… he fought off the weapons, but found the source of the scream - a girl that seemed about his age - dead. Then he ran into a camp of people dying from some sort of disease, but he was chased off before he could do anything to help, being accused by a peculiar woman of having killed the girl in the temple.
He tried to return to the temple after some time had passed, but found himself unable to return to the area because it was under lockdown thanks to some mysterious disease. It took several seasons before they cleared the lockdown and he was finally able to come back.
Exploring, he found an abandoned manor overgrown with vines, reclaimed by the passage of time, but couldn't find anything inside. Outside the manor, he stumbled onto the impostor that replaced his brother and managed to kill him, but succumbed to his own injuries soon thereafter.
… he suddenly awoke.
Once again, he was at the temple he was sealed in. Once again, he found a weapon lying on the ground. Once again, he heard the scream. Still struck by anxiety, he was faster, but still hesitated too long. When he arrived, the girl was being attacked by monsters. Noah fought them off, but she was fatally injured. He didn't want to see someone die in front of him again. Forcing himself to use the power of the moon that was forced onto him, he managed to heal her injuries. Though it took its toll on his body, he was happy he managed to save her. He was happy he managed to save someone.
That happiness didn't last long, though. He was reminded of all the times he couldn't prevent people's deaths before, and this filled him with an immense guilt. Had Harque been alive, he would've saved everyone from the very beginning. Now that he has been given this second chance… maybe he can follow the same path his brother would have taken.
He introduced himself to the girl. Her name was Yuria Landar, a powerful mage. She noticed the weapon Noah was carrying around had a sealing spell casted on it, and in exchange for saving her life, offered to unseal it for him. Turns out that after being unsealed, the weapon gained the ability to talk.
To be specific, the weapon had a person sealed inside of it, but Noah completely ignored him because he thought it was really suspicious. The people at the camp were suffering from the same disease they had previously, but this time, with his newfound ability to use moon magic, he healed all their injuries.
He departed after, heading back towards the mansion he had found his first time around. On the way, he finally started speaking to the weapon. The weapon's name was Clamor, and he was a scholar part of a prestigious organization. He was commissioned by Henir's Order to create a specific blueprint, but once he finished it, he was stabbed in the back and trapped within this weapon. Noah promised to protect Clamor and make sure the Order wouldn't hurt him again. It was nice for him to be able to form a bond with someone again, after so long. Someone he can actually protect this time, too.
He arrived back at the manor much earlier this time. It hadn't been overgrown yet by vines, though it still seemed abandoned. Exploring it further, he found out the manor had been used to stage all sorts of horrifying experiments. The monster he found the first time, the monsters he's finding now… they all used to be people.
This revelation broke him. He tried desperately with all his power to heal the experiments, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't help them. He dropped to his knees, even as the manor started collapsing around him, and despite Clamor's fervent pleas to leave and save himself, he didn't budge.
… he suddenly awoke, again.
Once more, he found himself at the temple. Once more, he found the weapon by his side, but it seemed different this time. The core of the sickle, which had always been an eye, was now cracked and an empty sphere. Once more, he heard Yuria call for help, and this time, he managed to save her properly. However, after getting her to unseal the weapon again, Yuria noted the weapon felt empty.
Clamor was no longer there.
He had managed to burn himself out trying desperately to protect Noah. He was gone, and he would never come back ever again.
Noah spent a long time drowning in grief, but then remembered that Clamor tried to tell him something back in the manor.
"It's not your fault. Do not give up. You don't have to carry everything. Don't forget the precious people who protected you…"
It was accompanied by a soft lullaby. So desperately Clamor tried to comfort him, even while his soul was burning out. Even while he was dying.
He thought of his brother. If he was alive because of the people that protected him, then he needs to live for those people. With a newfound determination, he vows to protect the world the way Harque would have wanted. With a smile, he throws himself into an unending vow to save everyone.
… being able to save everyone was an idealistic dream. No matter how many times he tried, no matter how often he awoke in that temple all over again, he couldn't save everyone. He eventually stops trying, starting to feel that the pendant Harque gave him was starting to reach the limit of its power. He built graves for the many people who passed, and who he'd never be able to save.
He couldn't fight back against the cruelty of the world no matter how much he tried. Death comes for everyone. After all his struggles, he was left with nothing but despair and a dead heart. The grief and loss of failing in his one task was unbearable, and he wanted nothing more than to close his eyes forever and join his brother in eternal sleep.
Then he remembered the temple of time. There was a door within the temple that would take someone to the past within their memories, to the time they most regret. Immediately he headed that way, and stepped through the door.
He arrived far in the past, looking down at Harque holding onto and talking to Noah when he was still a tiny baby. Gently, Harque tells him about the cycle of life and the El that makes life possible. But as time passed, Noah noticed the burden and grief Harque carried on his shoulders, the pain and guilt Harque hid from Noah this entire time. This was his shadow, the dark side of the moon Harque had never shown anyone else.
Harque had promised Noah he'd protect the world the two live in, no matter what.
Noah left the memory. Leaving the temple, he walked through the scenery around him. Everything was ravaged, then restored, ravaged again, and restored once more. Although dull and faded, it persevered no matter what.
His resolve hardened. Yes, he'll keep on living, just like Harque wanted him to. He'll do what Harque would have done, and protect the world like he would have. If he can't live for himself, then he'll live for his brother. For his wishes. For the life he wasn't able to have.
"Watch over me, Harque. I will do my best... until the day we meet again."
For the life Noah stole from him.
powers / abilities:
Moon Energy Manipulation: Nyx Pieta's defining feature is his ability to control moon-aligned El energy. This essentially means he has elemental magic within the domain of moonlight, water and ice. As the moon represents rest and restoration, most of his powers fall within a supportive lens, his specialty is controlling the battlefield, healing and buffing his allies and debuffing his enemies. Don't be fooled, though - despite this specialty, he is very much capable of potent offensive magic, and he's a formidable foe to be respected even when caught alone.
Because of the way this type of magic works, he is not limited to specific spells and can instead cast whatever his little heart desires as long as it falls within his elemental domains. He does tend to stick to techniques and spells he's practiced and refined over his years, as pushing past his comfort zone increases the stress his magic puts on his body.
Time Manipulation: Noah has very limited control over the flow of time, thanks to the magic within the pendant that has resonated with his own. He's capable of temporarily slowing down and speeding up time in a small area around him. The practical effects of this are rather limited however, mainly only being able to speed up his reaction times or increase how quickly his magic recovers by slowing down or speeding up time respectively. Maybe he'll be able to learn new tricks, but the odds aren't very high.
inherent abilities:
Energy Sensing: In Noah's universe, everyone and everything is made out of El energy, which can have one of several elemental alignments. With most people these energies are unaspected or completely in balance, but unique cases can be attuned to a specific element, whether by being casters specializing in that certain element or because of other cases, like a racial affinity. For example, Noah is highly attuned to Moon energy, and the El Masters would all be attuned to their own element.
Thanks to his magical capabilities, Noah is capable of picking up strong elemental affinities. Anything more minute (and anything other than elemental energy) however he can't detect, as he's never had proper training in this ability. He could improve in this as well, but without a proper teacher, that's not going to happen.
items / weapons:
Sickle: Very decorated and more of a decorative thing than an actual weapon at this point. He can still use it as a proper weapon if needed, though. Thanks to the mutation caused by his injected sun energy, he can transform the sickle into a massive, powerful bow that Noah is scarily capable with. This bow is his actual weapon of choice.
Moonstones: Small fragments of the El that are imbued with moon energy. Noah uses these as catalysts for his magic. Without them, his magic is far less powerful. He can make new ones out of normal pebbles and stones by infusing them with moon energy, but they won't be nearly as powerful as his actual, pure moonstones. They'd mostly be useful as little trinkets that improve things like your body's capability to naturally regenerate, or grant you a better night's rest. Imagine healing crystals but they actually work.
Relics of Confession & Rest: Magical relics that Noah uses as conduits for his magic. He can channel his magic through these, using them to enlarge or amplify the effects of his magic. They're not necessary, but just like the moonstones, his magic won't be able to reach its potential without them.
Doxology: Noah's pet, essentially. Doxology is an artifact, creatures that were created by the El during a specific festival in response to a person's presence. Though it's debatable whether artifacts are actually alive, they seem to have free will and willingly accompany the person whose presence created them. It's about the size of a puppy from a large dog breed, reaching Noah's knees, just about. It has grown alongside him, and can use his magic to a limited extent, somewhat like a child starting to learn magic.
Harque's Pendant: A pendant pinned to his coat, functioning as a memento of his deceased older brother and a reminder of why Noah still lives on. Though it used to be magically imbued with the secrets of time travel, Nyx Pieta has pushed this pendant past its limit and drained it to the point it's become nothing but a keepsake. Maybe it could be restored one day?
starting ability: Moon Energy Manipulation starting item: Moonstones
would you like this character to be housed upon arrival?: yes!
extra:
Noah's body is slowly starting to crystallize, a result of the moon energy wreaking havoc on his body every time he tries to use his magic. These crystallized parts of his body are essentially dead and cannot feel anything, even though he can still use these parts like normal.
He has the ability to temporarily age up his body using his moon magic, which allows him to tolerate the power of the moon better than he normally can. While transformed in this way, he looks eerily like his brother. The two are family and you wouldn't be able to tell it looks more like Harque than Noah unless you knew Harque, but…
Noah's immense survivor's guilt is making him act like he is Harque and that Noah died that fateful day instead as a way to cope with everything that's happened to him. It works, but it's not very healthy… and he's genuinely starting to believe it himself.
For examples of his magic, you can look here, here and here, and then scroll down to the skill tree. I am not describing every single skill he has in-game in this app, it's long enough already.
This is what Nyxie looks like, and this is what his aged-up body looks like. I call him Nyxie by the way he's my darling
Noah has been aged up by two years with mod permission and the passage of time in canon. In case you wonder why he's listed as 16 on the wiki but 18 on this app, that's why.
He's spent about one to two years constantly repeating time. It was awful.
