Swatting away some strings of confetti off Kokichi's face, Shuichi holds out two boxes for him to take: one that contains the slice of cake, and the other, his actual gift. First, was the slice of cake, it being of a purple velvet flavor, topped with dollops of whipped cream and white buttercream frosting; then as for the gift, it was the first 3 entries of a classic mystery series. "The cake is purple velvet... I ah, made it myself. I-I hope you'll like it once you try it! And for the books, I highly recommend them: it's the classic 'detective and phantom thief' kind of story. They're so good, I'm sure you will love them. Especially since the phantom thief...acts a lot like you, honestly! Ahaha... but yes, I hope you like your gifts .. !" " ah- did i? " kokichi muses as shuichi approaches, hands behind his head in his signature pose. it's obvious he's pretending to be oblivious in that moment. even with that, he still jumps with surprise from the party popper. " wah- hey-! "

he can't help himself from laughing out loud at that as he attempts to pull some of the confetti from off his face. his laughter is what's distracting him from doing it properly. " hah, you shouldn't apologize for that! that was good! "

" oh-! " kokichi's eyes light up as he's presented with the two boxes. he pulls another longer strand of confetti out of his face so he can see better before he takes them both, peeking at their contents as shuichi speaks on them. the whole time his eyes are wide, sparkling like glitter as his smile widens.

" nishishi... i've always dreamed of being a phantom thief; maybe i should take this as an excuse to gain some inspiration for a future heist! " kokichi glances up at shuichi with a smirk as he shuts the boxes and holds them close. " y'know, it's kind of embarrassing you'd be thinking of me while reading about a character like that... " he sticks his tongue out at the detective. " but i'll take that sentiment as a compliment, thank you! "

" hehe, and thank you for the gifts too, of course. i do appreciate it, saihara~chan, " kokichi hums as he tones down the joking tone. barely, but it's a noticeable difference at any rate... his tone only perks up with the delivery of that unique nickname. " ah, but did you really make the cake yourself? i can't lie and say i'm not impressed, haha! "
