it was midnight when mun junghyun was walking through the alley of the convenient store near where you lived. he looked at the products they bought, picking some of them to satisfy his hunger.

even on the outside, anyone could have felt the weight of his own thoughts on his shoulders. the elimination was yesterday, and the episode wasn't aired yet, so he had to make sure no one recognized him. the hood of his sweat shirt was on, a black cap hiding his face a bit more. his mother insisted on him wearing a mask too, but he just shrugged. wasn't it too much? people wouldn't recognize him, he wasn't popular enough, he thought.

junghyun decided he choose enough things to buy, making his way to the checkout to pay. there was no one in the shop, except for him and the cashier. at least, that's what he thought, because when he put his purchase on the table for the cashier to check them, some more products were added by hands well known to him.

he turned his face to find you on his side, taking out your credit card to pay your food and his. while the cashier was putting all of those in a bag, you turned to junghyun and smiled to him without a word. you crossed your right arm with junghyun's left arm, your other arm taking the bag full of your purchase. he sighed. right, if someone could recognize if from afar, it's surely his best friend. you.

"i didn't except you to come here that fast", he said while you gently dragged him to the corner of the store where you could eat.

"of course i'd come fast! it's been a while since i saw you."

"you didn't have to pay, you know."

"shh."

you made him sit on one of the chairs. he watch you as you took the food out of the bag. he admired that smile still on your face, while you were opening the bag of his favorite chips, before giving it to him.

"are you not gonna talk about it ?" he asked.

"about what ? oh, that's true! you're blonde now! to be honest when i saw that on tv i kinda laughed because you really looked like an idol and-"

"i'm talking about the fact i'm eliminated."

"oh, that."

you were still standing next to him while he was sat, not looking at you anymore.

"i thought you wouldn't want to talk about it. you know, i always have to shake you for you to talk about your feelings. but i figured it'd be better if i wait for you to be ready."

"i don't know. i also felt like i wanted to keep it to myself this time. but, i kinda want to talk about it."

he was facing the table, so he didn't see you sneakily going behind him. your arms made their way around his torso as you hugged him from behind, resting your chin on his shoulder.

"well, now that i'm here i can listen to whatever you want to tell me about."

he was glad you couldn't see his face in this position, otherwise, you would have see is red cheeks and discover the feelings he had for you.

"are you... disappointed in me?" he asked.

"why would i be?"

"you were so happy when i told you i was going to that show, and you were sure i was going to win. when they said i was eliminated, i was afraid you won't see my skills in a great light."

"winning is not always coming first, you know? i don't think you exactly lost."

"coming first is the literal definition of winning, y/n..."

"no, it's not. winning is gaining something, progressing, relating to any kind of victory. you were able to perform in front of your first fans twice, you made friends, you met people you admired, you've gotten better... you won, in a way."

"so you're not disappointed in me?"

"are you disappointed in yourself?"

junghyun didn't reply. you held him thigher as he felt his heart skipping a bit. yes, he surely missed his "best friend". still holding him with one arm, your free hand went to grab his.

"i'm not disappointed in you, okay? i'll never be. i'm proud of you, you did so well. i hope you'll grow into realizing you did very good and you gained the heart of many people. plus, it's probably not going to stop, right?" you're not giving up on your dreams?"

he shook his head to tell you he won't give up.

"right! you better not, okay? you have to debut and make me meet lee seunghwan" you said jokingly. suddenly, he turned to face you, making you let go of him.

"lee seunghwan??"

"lee seunghwan!" you replied cheerfully.

"you... like him? i mean, was he your first pick?"

"isn't he hot?"

junghyun opened a box of biscuits, throwing one in your mouth to make you shut up.

"i'll never let you talk to seunghwan. dumbass."

you ate the biscuit, before sitting next to him.

"why?"

"i'm supposed to be your favorite!"

"i never said he was."

"well, i'm surely more good loking than him."

"hm, not sure about that. let me take a look at your face, it's been a while."

you took out his hood, then his cap, putting it on the table. gently, your hand went to his chin, examining his face. a smirk slowly crept to your face as you saw the embarassement on his. he was silent.

"hm. it's true you're good looking."

your hand went to ruffle his hair, making him complain.

"and the blonde is making you even more handsome."

he scoffed, putting his cap and his hood back on his head.

"are you flirting with me, y/n?"

"i don't know if we can be just friends now that you're blonde..." you said half joking. he laughed, making you feel relieved that he finally felt better.

"then i'll work hard to debut so you won't look at seunghwan anymore."

“well i wouldn’t call you boring…” you tease, earning a scoff, a head shake and even more of a squint.

“change it before i do it for you,” he demands in a teasing way, but you don’t mind following this order. “i can’t believe you’ve lived like this for 2 months.”

you barely hear him continue to talk, too busy concentrating on picking the perfect name that you know he’ll absolutely hate as payback for making a big deal out of it. “there,” you hold the phone out in front of his face.

“jelly,” he reads out, “and a blue heart,” he contemplates it for a moment. you furrow your brows at how long it’s taking for him to start complaining. “i like it, kinda goes well with mine too, sweetie”

you side eyed your boyfriend who’s only reaction was to cross his arms. “do you know how much my friends would tease me if i had anything but your name?”

“that’s doesn’t make it any better,” he calmed down, slipping your phone out of your hands and unlocking it with your password. “i’m changing it.”

you watched over his shoulder as he scrolled your contacts. he found “k” and tutted as his eyes landed on his name.

“can i change it?” he asked cutely, completely switching his act from just a few seconds ago. you nodded straight away. “right, i think “baby” will look nice. with a star and a black heart,” he spoke as he typed.

you smiled as you read and listened to your boyfriend muttering to himself. he was absolutely adorable, he’s definitely worth the endless teasing from your friends.

“okay perfect,” he locked your phone and lazily handed it to you, “and you better not change it back.”

jeonghyeon tuts while rolling his eyes, dramatically, sure, but there’s definitely intention behind it. “babe, boyfriend, honey, love,” he counts on his fingers, “even just jeonghyeonie,” he pulls out his phone, “all things that you’ve called me but noooo.”

you smile at his cuteness, which made him even more riled. “what’s mine saved as?”

“my darling,” he admits, pulling up your contact info and placing it on the table in front of you, donning a pout until you look at him again. “but i can change it to just y/n, no problem.” you look back at his phone, the words make you smile and seeing the little blue heart emoji next to them makes your stomach fill with fluttering butterflies . you hated to admit it, but it did feel good to see it. and the thought of him changing it, well you didn’t even want to think about it.

“no, no, it’s fine, you don’t have to do that,” you locked his phone for him and handed it back to him after picking it up from the table.

“so will you change mine?” his pleading eyes were unavoidable, like a puppy you just can’t say no to. you rolled your eyes and back spaced on his contact name, “save me as “my love” please,”” he urged.

“don’t test your luck, jeonghyeon,” you deadpanned, but followed his directions anyway.

“wait,” the laughter died down and your face drops, “i’m your sunshine?” you ask, feeling full of love yet so incredibly guilty. “let me change your name right now, you’re too cute, i swear-”

“you don’t have to, i think it’s funny, y/n, you really don’t need to do that!” the palm of his hand covers your phone screen as he speaks.

your fingers move it out of the way gently as you begin to type “angel” into the box. seungeon completely moves his hand once you’ve finished typing and takes a look, you wait to see his reaction, not once taking your eyes off him.

“yeah you definitely should’ve just left it as my name,” he bursts out laughing again, kicking his feet in the air playfully. you look down to check what you’d written. angle. you’d now saved him as angle. “acute or obtuse? actually, i think i wanna be reflex.”

“that’s because i couldn’t see the screen!” you playfully prod seungeon in the arm. “now, let me change it properly this time.”

when he stopped laughing once again, he took the hand you just poked him with in his “please do. i like the name angel.” his smile was playfully adorable, you couldn’t help but tease him.

“who said it was going to be “angel”? it might have been “eagle”… or “bagel”.”

“oh,” yunseo pouts in an unintentionally cute way.

you instantly feel bad and try coming up with an excuse, “that’s just how i saved it when we met, i had no idea we were going to become… us, and i never got around to changing it because i was just used to seeing it like that,” you stumbled over your words as they left your mouth in hurry.

“it’s fine, i’ll just change yours back to your name too, then,” you think he’s joking until he reaches for his phone.

“NO,” you’re both slightly taken aback by the volume of your voice, so much so that yunseo stops in his tracks, “let me change yours right now.”

“really?” he finally breaks into a smile, a warm, familiar feeling running through your chest, “hmm what to?”

“cutie suits you,” you shy away from his eyes, “and how about i add a heart?” yunseo nods his head, adding a content hum as he knows you can’t see him.

the next thing you know, yunseo is hugging you from behind, watching you type. “the white heart, please. and can you add the teddy bear? i think it’s so cute.”

you turn your head slightly to look at him, resting his chin on your shoulder, “but, what am i saved as?”

“i was going to say that,” you both look at each other in shock, before laughing. “well, i guess we can both be each other’s honey, but i’m gonna put a puppy emoji and a purple heart next to yours.”

his smile gets brighter, you always know how to make him happy, “the bunny and the yellow heart for you?” he asked, knowing that you’d say yes.

you put your phones together, the two matching nicknames in bold lettering across both the screens, “perfect,” you both say at the same time.

You are such a sucker for physical contact, just the feeling of being in contact with someone brings you happiness, but what happens when you are to shy to initiate it with your own boyfriend?

You and Junghyun had know each other since you were around 10, playing together casually on class or goofing around, but never were really close.

Starting middle school you never spoke to him either unless it was for school related stuff such as working on class or making projects. It wasn't until you started high school that you started to show some interest for him, in fact you remember clearly the moment you took notice of his presence in a much closer way.

Your friends had invited you to go to an amusement park on a really sunny day, and being a lover of adrenaline how could you turn down that offer? When you got there you saw your friends with 5 or 6 people you didn't knew very well, Junghyun being one of them, but let it slide since you were far more excited for the rollercoaster ahead. All of you went there and you were assigned a partner as the wagons were for 2 people. You ended up with Junghyun (a lil bit suspicious if you ask me) as your friends had already paired up. At first it was slightly awkward but as time went by you both realised you shared lots of things in common. You then started to be more interested in him and found and excuse to try to talk, your feelings for him starting to grow.

A few months later you discovered that your feelings were reciprocated by him as he confessed to you in the sweetest way, giving you flowers and presenting at your door. And now a month after that your relationship has been building up slowly put firmly.

his embrace feels so familiar. comforting. it makes you forget about all the overwhelming events of the day. his hand gently moves down your back and up again, his breathing syncing with your own as the hectic day stops for just a moment.

you pull away, content and ready to face the music once again.

the smirk on his face reminds you of the keita you met on your first date, so rightfully confident, yet incredibly soft. “good.”

jeonghyeon was working away on his laptop, his earphones plugged in with his concentration face in action. you walked into the room as he was shuffling in his seat, before he tugged his earphones out and got up off the sofa.

“you made me jump,” he laughed, hoping it wasn’t too obvious as he almost bumped into you.

his arms welcomed you into his chest immediately, which you rested your head against. you always felt comfortable in his arms, they were so secure, but not suffocating, they wrapped around you so perfectly, you never wanted to be anywhere else but in his arms whenever you hugged him. his hands gently rubbed at your back in a soothing way, almost lulling you into a dreamlike state.

“are you tired?” he asked softly.

“why?” he wondered aloud.

“you just looked so cute wrapped up in there,” you answered. seungeon rewarded you with an aww and a very faint, innocent kiss on your ear. “and also because they didn’t have the chips you wanted at the store.”

“they didn’t stand a chance,” you bragged, flicking your hair and rolling your eyes sassily.

“yep,” you walk a little faster to catch up with him and loop your arm through his, “i didn’t even know that there was a lake here.”

keita absentmindedly drops his arm as he slows down, your arm falling with his, still kind of intertwined. missing the physical touch, your hand searches for his, and without you even realising, you’re now holding hands as you walk slowly along the path covered in wet leaves. keita swings the two hands out in front of you, smiling to himself as he does so.

“you’ve never held my hand before,” he giggles, getting closer to you to let a cyclist pass, “never initiated holding hands, i should say,” he clarified, adding emphasis to his words.

it was unavoidable, your hands became clammy and you could only look at the lake beside you.

naturally, hanbin’s hand came to your waist as he sat up, using you to steady himself and then refusing to move it. he scrunched his eyebrows, head leaning in to take a closer look at your features.

“what are you doing?” you asked, pulling away, your eyebrows also furrowed but yours in confusion more than intrigue.

“looking,” he replied. his eyes flashed from your left eye to your right, back and forth, until he himself pulled away. “your eyes, they’re so pretty and unique,” using his free hand, he pointed vaguely, as if you didn’t know where they were.

“they’re just eyes…”

your response made hanbin take a second look, this time, getting closer to you. your noses were almost touching, you could feel his breath tickle your lips. you’d kissed hanbin lots of times, countless times, but seeing him up close like this, you started to sweat. you tried to focus on something else, anything else, but your mind kept going back to either his hand on your waist, or his face dangerously close to yours.

hanbin’s straight face soon turns into an eye roll as he sits back as if he’s truly offended by your bashfulness. he looks up to the ceiling before looking back at you.

“you can’t even let your boyfriend compliment your eyes?” he leans to whisper into your ear, “baby, we’re gonna have to do something about that!”

“almost there!” jeonghyeon read your text with a cute grin just as you were walking through the doors to the cinema. he slipped his phone into his back pocket and greeted you with an awkward smile.

you jogged up to him with just as much awkwardness, “why is that part always so awkward and embarrassing?” you laugh it off, taking off your beanie and gloves as jeonghyeon watched you in adoration. tugging at your boyfriend's arm to pull him closer to you, you whispered to him, “does my hair look okay? do i have hat hair?”

after taking a good look at your hair, he shook his head and giggled cutely. “can i?” he motioned as if to move hair from your face. you nodded with a sweet, grateful smile. he pinched the few strands of your hair from your face extremely gently and tucked them behind your ear, before going to sort out the rest. but as he did so, you grabbed his hand and pulled it away from your face, letting it go when you realised you had no idea why you just did that.

“sorry, but, there was,” he paused as he caught you blushing through your own hands as you tried to fix your hair yourself, “did i make you flustered?” he laughed. to confirm his suspicions, he moved your hands from your face. “you are!”

“shall we get some popcorn?”

“so cute,” he ruffled your hair, messing it up again, before looping your arm through his own and heading towards the popcorn counter.

feeling a little overwhelmed by the situation, you excuse yourself from the dining table, heading straight for your bathroom to splash some water on your face. today, seungeon was meeting your family for the first time and, although it was going well so far, you couldn’t help but feel apprehensive about what would happen next. you patted your face down with a towel and carefully unlocked the door.

taking your seat at the table, seungeon gave your thigh a reassuring squeeze. you freeze, moving only your eyes to see if any of your family noticed.

“everything okay, y/n? you’re never usually this quiet.” your mother’s attempt to embarrass you felt like nothing compared to seungeon’s hand on your leg.

you smiled, very very faintly. “yeah, just the food is a bit spicy,” you look at your boyfriend, now able to give him a death stare, “i wasn’t prepared for it.”

“well i think it’s delicious,” he smiles to the table, who dig in to their meal again, “i’m sorry,” he mouths.

later that day, you finally have some time alone with your boyfriend, and so you decide to bring it up again.

a little while later, after one of the children said something funny, you glanced over to your boyfriend, who was turning towards you at the same time. the show continues, but yunseo doesn’t go back to watching it, instead wanting to watch you fondly.

“do you think we’ll have kids?” yunseo asks out of nowhere. “i keep dreaming about it,” he laughs, as if it was a silly thing to admit.

you check his expression in your peripheral, hoping he’s not joking. “so you definitely want kids?” you ask, avoiding the question.

“yeah, do you?” his hand came to your forearm, comforting you enough to finally look at him.

“who is it?” keita asked, scurrying onto his knees to peep at the card that you were tilting away from him. he shuffled closer the more you tried to hide it, getting more and more excitable. “me?”

you giggled and stood from your cross legged position on the floor, “hanbin,” you turned the photocard quickly and flashed hanbin’s smiley face towards your boyfriend, almost taunting him.

keita looked up towards you, clearly slightly deflated but still up right on his knees. “don’t look so pleased!” he exclaimed, offended by your unhidable joy. “let me see,” he held out his arm and opened hand.

hesitantly, you placed the card into his hand, “don’t rip it or anything.”

“i won’t,” he inspected the card, “you wouldn’t be able to sell it if i did,” he tilted the card under the fluorescent light of the apartment, “or are you gonna keep it?” his eyes came to meet yours, searching for a truthful answer before you even opened your mouth.

you shrugged. “i dunno,” you took the card from his hands and slipped it back into the envelope, along with the other inclusions. “are you jealous?” you asked, wondering why he was being so off with you about it.

“of course not,” he stood, his hand coming to your upper arm, giving it a gentle squeeze, “it’s just a random piece of card,” he pointed at the envelope.

“yep,” you agreed, placing the envelope into the photo book before hovering your fingers over the CD and while attempting to take a long look at it just to avoid his eyes.

however, you very quickly failed when you felt his hand on your waist, hugging you from the side. “and i'm actually pretty relieved that you like all the members so much that you are happy with whoever you pulled,” he smiled to you, genuinely, hugging you closer, “just as long as you like me the most, of course.”

“he looks so cute, though,” bringing the card to your face, you took a closer look at the photocard. “isn’t he just adorable?” hanbin’s eyes widened, thinking you were going to kiss the card like a crazed fan.

“no!” hanbin retaliated, knowing you were just saying those things to get a rise out of him (and it was working). “mine were cuter,” he snatched the card from your hand.

“i doubt it,” you snatched it back.

“go and marry him then!” hanbin scoffed. as he tried to ignore you admiring the photocard, he pulled out his phone. “look,” he held it out to you, the screen displaying a trading instagram page, “they want that yunseo photocard, you can trade it, i’ll drop them a message right now.”

“no you won’t,” you snapped, a little too meanly for your own liking, even, “mr park hanbin, dance leader of evnne, who’s gonna believe you can’t get your hands on your own photocard?” you laughed.

in response, he slipped his phone back into his pocket, “true,” perhaps the first time you’ve won him in one of these petty fake arguments. “but what are you gonna do with it?” his eyes, dark and puppy like, were almost welling up at the thought of you keeping it.

“i’ll give it to my friend, she’s obsessed with him, and then i’ll buy one of yours, probably,” you shrugged, explaining what your plan was all along. “but they’re so expensive, hanbin, you really should consider not being so popular,” you scoffed at him again, making him smile proudly.

“i can’t help it, y/n, i’m pretty and talented and funny, the fans love me!”

“oh,” jeonghyeon spies the unfamiliar looking card in the envelope that you’ve yet to look in.

“hey, i thought we were gonna look together?” you complain, the volume dropping as you saw his face. “what is it? is there any photocards in these ones? it’s okay, i mean, i only want one if it’s yours anyway.”

jeonghyeon pulled the card out with an exaggerated bottom lip quiver, revealing keita’s face.

“oh,” you repeat, “he looks so handsome though!” you admit, going to investigate the card in jeonghyeon’s hand further.

“he does,” jeonghyeon concedes, even though he’s so very jealous right now, he still can’t lie. “but you don’t want it, that’s what you said.”

“i did say that, didn’t i?” you bite the inside of your cheek, “maybe i could make an exception for this one very handsome man.” you tease, noting jeonghyeon’s widened eyes.

“why not?” you pouted.

shuffling forward, away from the grasp of your boyfriend who was marking you blush incredibly hard, you grabbed the remote, “shall we watch some young royals, jeonghyeon?”

you pulled the card close to your chest, “i thought you didn’t want to see who i got, and that you were going into the kitchen to grab a drink while i looked?”

“yeah, well, that was before i saw his face, okay?” seungeon made his way around the sofa to sit beside you and take the card from your hand. “i mean, it’s look at him, thinking he’s all cute.”

you leaned your head on your boyfriend’s shoulder to calm him, he clearly needed it. “that’s your team mate that you’re talking about, and he is cute, junghyun is the second cutest in the whole group, in fact.”

seungeon immediately looked to you, setting the card down on his lap as he did so, “who’s first? not jihoo, right?”

placing a kiss on his forehead, you answered, “no, silly.” seungeon radiated with happiness, you knew what you had to do, “it’s yunseo.”

offended, your head was shrugged off of seungeon’s shoulder before you could even laugh at your own joke, “no more freebies for you then,” with folded arms, he stood, the photocard dropping onto the sofa as he did so. “this time i am gonna get a drink and you can make your own.”

you didn’t give much reaction, you weren’t really too sure on how you should be feeling, but he didn’t really give you much time to process it anyway.

“you won’t be needing that, y/n,” yunseo took the card straight from your hand and chucked it back at the table with all the other inclusions, “so what do you think of the album?” he lifted his head but his eyes stayed on you expectedly.
