And now I know why the all the trees change in the fall I know you were on my side Even when I was wrong And I love you for giving me your eyes Staying back and watching me shine And, I didn't know if you knew So I'm taking this chance to say That I’ll have the best day with you again one day. This is my 11th Mother’s Day without you and it still doesn’t get any easier. In the past I’ve been filled with almost every negative emotion you can think of. Anger at cancer for taking you. Guilt because I forgot to text you back two days before the cancer took you. Denial - I’m still in this stage even after 11 years. Jealously at all my friends who still have their mums. You name it; I’ve felt it.  But this year I’ve changed my mindset. Instead of mourning your loss; I’m going to honour your memory. Instead of remembering you in hospital, I’m thinking about how your eyes lit up when you smiled. How your laugh sounded like a bell. That cute voice you used when you talked to the dogs and how you looked so relaxed and at peace whenever you were working out in the garden.  Yes we never got a last day together, but I’m so thankful to have had the best 15 years with you.  Happy Mother’s Day Mumma!
