Another for later: Magnus and the trainees headcannons (aka I used to hate shadow hunters now I have a whole clan of them)
I have SO MANY Magnus and the trainees headcanons and if I manage to work in even half of these in the second part of AWG then I'll be happy. (Obligatory sorry for the rambling cuz it's going to be LONG😅)
Magnus is the first to find out Max has saved Alec's number under "Dad" on his phone and he's quick to promise him he won't tell Alec, but that he thinks Max should tell him.
Following up on that, Magnus promises to Max that if Alec ever moves in with him, there will also be a bedroom for Max to stay at because he won't take his big brother/dad away from him.
There will naturally also be a bedroom for Madzie
And some handy portal magic to make sure the trainees can also stay/barge in whenever they need some Alec hugs want to drop by.
When the Institute aka Alec makes a formal request to remodel the sleeping area so all the shadowhunters and trainees can have their own bedroom (thank you space manipulation magic), Magnus spends an entire week looking at bedrooms with all of the trainees to give each of them the bedroom of their dreams.
Arjun's bedroom wall has a moving dragon and Arjun refuses to leave his room for a whole two days when he sees that.
Magnus struggles to gain Ariadne and Hideaki's trust the most because of how shy they are. And then he finds out both love to draw/paint. Asking them if they will teach him is what makes them open up to him and it ends in a weekly drawing hour that Magnus enjoys far more than he expected - even if he has no natural talent at all.
On the flip side, Sarah finds out that Magnus knows how to dance and knows a lot of different types of dance and ropes him into teaching her. Colton, Linette, Aloysius, and Doris are quick to join in when they find out as well.
After Magnus changes his hair color for the fourth time Rara asks him if he can do the same with her hair and if he can make it sparkly, which is how Rara ends up with permanently sparkly hair.
This quickly leads to most of the trainees sporting rainbow-colored hair for a number of weeks.
Magnus finds out Barika is trans about three months into dating Alec.
The third time Magnus attends a training session with the trainees, Alec takes them on a parkour trail over the New York skyline and Magnus is reminded that all Nephilim are well and truly insane.
When he finds out that Keith likes to try new foods/snacks etc. Magnus picks up the habit of buying local snacks whenever he goes to some place Keith hasn't been to yet.
Magnus gets into the habit of bringing easy books on magical theory whenever he's hanging out with the Fearsome Foursome because they always want to learn more.
Steph is the first to successfully pull off a prank on Magnus, which earns her bragging rights for a whole week.
Of course, Max has to prank him even harder to regain his title of Menace Supreme the week after that.
When Magnus decides to prank them back it turns into a full-out prankwar that almost rivals the Mumbai Incident.
Max still somehow ends up winning and Magnus ends up ranting to Ragnor, Catarina, and Raphael after a glass too many because HOW DID HE LOSE TO A NINE-YEAR-OLD???
(Alec wins the betting pool because he's the only one to know all of the details of the Mumbai Incident.)
(He doesn't tell Magnus he won however, that would have meant admitting he bet on his little brother.)
(He does reveal to Magnus that Max is strictly forbidden from ever setting foot in the Mumbai Institute ever again, so he doesn't feel too bad for losing.)
I definitely have more, but these are already some headcanons that I adore. Thank you for asking! Rambling about the trainees always brings me joy and I'm delighted other people love them as well.

Bangaloreans ka Dabba Gul
The Mumbai Dabbawalas are a remarkable example of an efficient food delivery service that has been operating in the bustling metropolis of Mumbai since the late 1800s. Their primary function is to deliver home-cooked meals from customers’ homes to their workplaces, catering primarily to the city's office workers who crave the comfort of home-cooked food during their busy workdays. The Dabbawalas managed to deliver around 200,000 meals daily, relying on a complex yet effective logistical framework that incorporates traditional methods with an understanding of the local urban landscape. Each Dabbawala is responsible for picking up tiffin boxes filled with freshly prepared meals in the morning, which are then sorted and delivered to the correct locations using a unique color-coded system. This coding system allows them to identify the destination of each tiffin at a glance, ensuring that deliveries are completed with remarkable accuracy. The entire process, from collection to delivery, is meticulously timed, with most Dabbawalas finishing their rounds in under six hours, thanks to their deep familiarity with the city’s geography and public transportation systems.
Transportation plays a crucial role in the Dabbawalas' operations. They primarily take advantage of the city’s local train system to cover greater distances quickly. This multi-modal approach not only increases their efficiency but also allows them to avoid the heavy traffic that can often paralyze the city. Each Dabbawala typically handles around 30 to 40 tiffin’s each day, working in teams to streamline operations further. In recent years, the Mumbai Dabbawalas have faced several challenges that threaten their traditional business model. One significant issue is the increasing competition from modern food delivery services, such as Swiggy and Zomato, which offer a wide variety of cuisines and the convenience of online ordering through apps. These platforms have capitalized on the growing demand for diverse dining options and fast delivery times, drawing customers away from the Dabbawala system, which primarily focuses on home-cooked meals. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges, such as remote working arrangements which drastically reduced the number of office-goers in Mumbai, resulting in a substantial drop in daily deliveries. Furthermore, the increasing cost of living and inflation have impacted their earnings, as the cost of raw materials for the meals has risen, putting additional financial strain on both the Dabbawalas and their customers.
Task at Hand
The Mumbai Dabbawalas have decided to expand to Bangalore and as the CEO of Mumbai Dabbawallas plan your expansion strategy for introducing the service in the ‘IT Hub of India’

The life of a international student
Being an international student is exciting you get to learn different cultures and experience the world but its a hard transition to move from one country to another. I sometimes compare it to going to a boarding school in high school but now you are soo far away from home. I learn at Parul university in India and I would say I have experienced a mixture of good and bad.
One of the things a struggled with when I arrived from my home country Zimbabwe back in September 2022 was the weather. India is hot and humid the air smelt different. I had imagined that India would be cold and cool something similar to where I am from. I soon learned what the moon soon rains look like and the hot summers which reach 45+ degrees celcius.
On my journey to India I did not travel alone I came with a few of my country mates whom i did know. The experience was exciting and a little bit stress full but we made it to Mumbai my first destination. The airport is beautiful and we soon made our way to the train station. I remember it was raining so we saw some good scenery
living far from home can make most of us feel lonely but with time you make new friends and they become you new family, it is important to create meaning fool friends because it is helpful. Hindi is a very tough language to learn I would suggest anyone to learn it. It makes communication with locals easier and simpler and soo far I have had a good time in India. Despite the heat I would say people should come visit India to come experience good food and beautiful places India has to offer.

In the US there are trains only the amount of trains varies wildly from state to state and town to town. For instance, where I live, I can't take a train to school or to another destination within my town/city. I could, however, take a train to a city 3 hours away, or take a train to another state. In the city in my state that's 3 hours away, they do have a citywide tram system, but it looks like trains so they call it a light rail. In places like New York City, Washington DC, or Chicago (all big city areas) they do have trains that people use to get around as transport.
but in most places that aren't big city areas, it's a car, walking, or taking the bus (which in some places is not the most reliable option, if I wanted to take a bus to my university's campus it would take 1 hr 41 minutes. It takes 17 minutes to drive there)
there is hope though as more places are getting trains/trams at the very least in developmental stages :D!!
Do you like taking the train? Or do you have another preferred mode of transport?
Ohh in that case then it's not too different from here ig? Even in India trains are usually for long distance travel between different cities. Ofc this doesn't always apply, like there's the local trains in Mumbai which are veryy widely used in fact they're notorious for being wayy too crowded. There's also metro trains in a few, well, metropolitan cities like delhi, mumbai, kolkata, the metro in my city is still not fully constructed tho so the bus is most common. Still buses here are pretty reliable and at most only take 5-10 mins extra depending on how far you're going.
And yes i do like taking the train! I don't have a particular preference though, I just like traveling anywhere because it's fun to look outside of windows :D tho my favouritism is influenced by how rare a certain mode of transport is. Which is why travelling by metro or a double decker bus (I have only sat in one once in mumbai, I'm not aware of double decker buses being available anywhere else?) definitely holds more novelty!

“You didn’t fail—your idea failed. Try something new.”
Last week, David and I were invited to be delegates at a G20 event at Guru Nanak Dev University, which is just up the road from Khalsa College.
One of the panels at this event at GNDU was on entrepreneurship. While this is not exactly my field, I am glad I was compelled (by my status as a delegate) to attend. One of the panelists, an esteemed professor of business from Mumbai, offered the thought that I have chosen as my title.
I would say that my idea—as conceived—has failed.
Without getting into too much detail, I will simply say that several factors have contributed to this: my own naivety at what could be accomplished with a group of actors with whom I do not share a common language (unlike Kerala—where I did my first Fulbright), some particularly nasty departmental politics that became clear to David and me a few weeks after arrival, a lack of communication concerning hindrances to my project work plan, and (what I perceive) as the global effects of COVID on the current college age student. One toxic presence has done more than anything else to dismantle what I planned to accomplish. I have kept quiet about this in my blog and hoped for the best.
I am disheartened, but I also need to look at what my essential goals were for this project:
• To connect young people with survivors of Partition in order to foster understanding about the experiences of those who came before them
• To guide a group of young artists in creating original material based on interviews with Partition survivors
• To provide a way for said young artists to share their original work with an audience.
All this will be accomplished.
• I have accompanied students on interviews with people in their 80’s and 90’s who survived Partition, and witnessed the effect their stories and these connections have on my students. I have been deeply moved by the experience of sitting in the presence of these survivors.
• David and I are working with these young actors to create, albeit slowly, original monologues out of those interviews. I understand that students at Khalsa College (and perhaps more widely in India) are not as accustomed to writing their own material, so this is a big “ask” we are making. Many are rising to the challenge beautifully. And some very generous translators have helped us to understand what is being written.
• And we will have a sharing. It will not be a full-scale production, as we first envisioned. Given the amount of rehearsal time that has been taken from us due to various roadblocks- a full production would not be possible. We have been given a goal of the first week in April (before exam preparation begins). With that date in mind, we had to let go of the idea of a full production last week. But we will have an invited sharing at the college, and I also hope to have a lecture/demonstration at the Partition Museum and a local cultural center. I need to remind myself that if David had not been able to accompany me, these sharings would have likely been all I would have been able to offer.
I am turning my focus to things I can control (and my little living space has been getting daily cleanings-- this seems to be my way of gaining some control.) Following the advice, I am "trying something new."
• I am booking performances of The Belle of Amherst at several colleges in Kolkata, one in Assam, and (hopefully) one theatre in Nepal.
• I have been awarded a regional travel grant to spend two weeks teaching voice and speech at an actor training program in Nepal.
• And I have been invited to serve on the panel to interview Fulbright applicants among Tibetan immigrants in Dharamshala in May.
I have met a lot of great people here. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity. And my students are absolutely lovely people. When I am with them (those who show up) my spirit cannot resist being lifted. So-- I’ll share a few pictures of these exuberant, brave young people—and move on. The idea failed. I did not fail. And I believe these young people will take something meaningful away from this experience—as I know David and I will.
I “owe” you all a post about our wonderful return to Kerala. Maybe now that I have shared the not-so-pleasant, I can go back and share those beautiful memories!

#Best place Traveling In Jaipur
Jaipur, often known as the Pink City, is a significant stop on the Golden Triangle, a popular tourist route linking New Delhi, Agra, and Rajasthan. The name Jaipur is a reference to the famed Hawa Mahal and other pink structures that can be found in the city's ancient district.
Jaipur is a city of expansive palaces, elaborate buildings, and panoramic vistas of verdant hills and serene lakes. It was India's first planned city and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for providing a superb example of local city planning. And especially for first-time visitors to India, its streets seem a little more manageable than the crowded mazes of New Delhi and Mumbai.
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel movies were filmed in this city, which served as inspiration for Paul McCartney's song "Riding into Jaipur." It is a location where one can take in the performing arts, indulge in magnificent meals in royal banquet halls, and think back on a time when Maharajas reigned. At day, ride elephants and discover Mughal architecture, and by night, luxuriate in some of the world's most luxurious hotels.
Jaipur is also a shopping haven, with everything from exquisite jewellery and delicate handmade works of art to a wide range of fabrics.
The city is accessible by air, train, bus, or private vehicle from New Delhi. The trip takes less than four hours if you take a high-speed rail[....]

Best Time to go
Although Jaipur is pleasant all year round, the best months to visit the Pink City are from October to February. Visitors can anticipate the warmest temperatures during this time because the days are clear and breezy. Visit between March and July to avoid the oppressive heat while touring expansive castles built before air conditioning. In Jaipur, the mercury can get above 100 degrees Fahrenheit during these months.

Things to Know
The 10th most populous city in India is Jaipur, which is also the largest city in Rajasthan. It is referred to as the Pink City because of the sophisticated use of the colour pink throughout the city. A tourism route connecting New Delhi, the Taj Mahal, and Rajasthan includes Jaipur as one of its points. Even though Jaipur is only 167 miles from New Delhi, it feels like another world. Jaipur, the first planned city in India, was established in 1727. The city is constructed on a street grid rather than a convoluted maze of roadways, making it simpler to travel than Delhi or Mumbai. Explore pre-colonial Indian palaces, delve into Indian history, and unwind in world-class hotels accommodations in Jaipur.
