When I was about fourteen my mother bought me a pair of court shoes in my absence and insisted I wear them to school. They had about a half-inch heel and pointed toes.

Now me, I have narrow heels and wide toes. These things did not fit me at all. I complained, and my mother told me that I had to get used to wearing them because when I was grown up and had a job I would have to wear pointy-toed high-heeled shoes every day.

Now I am grown up and I have a job, and I pad around the office in my stockinged soles and no-one gives a hoot.

So yah boo sucks Mum.
