La storia ruota attorno alle Ongaku Shoujo. Nonostante tutto l’impegno delle ragazze e del loro produttore, il giovane gruppo di idol non riesce ad avee un briciolo di successo e riconoscimento. L’aggiunta di un nuovo membro, però, farà da catalizzatore, dando una nuova energia a tutta la formazione!

Il cortometraggio originale diretto Kenichi Ishigura (Sakura Trick) era incentrato sulle due aspiranti idol Haru ed Eri. In Giappone fu proiettato al cinema il 22 marzo 2015 e il mese dopo fu anche trasmesso in tv.

Crunchyroll Reveals Music Girls and Other Upcoming Anime at AX 2018

Crunchyroll just wrapped up its industry panel at Anime Expo 2018, and plenty of announcements came along for the ride. In addition to going over some of the summer 2018 simulcasts, some new series have been revealed. Check out an overview of what you can look forward to this summer and beyond below.

  Music Girls - Coming this summer.

    Synopsis:

Haru Chitose, Eri Kumagai, Sarasa Ryuoh, Kiri Mukae, Uori Mukae, Sasame Mitsukuri, Miku Nishio, Hiyo Yukino, Shupe Gushiken, Kotoko Kintoki, and Roro Morooka are the eleven members of "Music Girls," an idol group produced by Pine Records. However, they're a third-rate idol group that can't seem to sell CDs at all. But even though they're obscure and constantly in debt, the members and their producer, Ikebashi, are all trying their hardest. Ikebashi gets the idea that Music Girls needs a new member—an idol who can light a fire under them so that they can grasp success! And so the rigorous auditions begin. Then, one day, Music Girls meets the story's main character, Hanako...
