I like you and your blog and your ability to get your point across without sounding like a huge asshole even when real assholes put stupid comments relating to nothing you're talking about on your posts. Does that make sense? I hope so.

Aw man, it’s not often I get messages like this! Thank you for taking the time to send me this, which may or may not have taken some courage to do. Usually when I get a compliment, it’s mostly about the blog and my work here. It’s not often people try to approach me just as a person anymore.

What you said makes complete sense to me, no worries at all. And I appreciate that YOU can appreciate my bluntness and candor. Not everyone can, as demonstrated by the 30 or so followers I’ve lost since expressing myself a few times. But you know? That’s okay. The world’s population exceeded 7 billion in 2012 (at the end of 2011, to be more precise) – it is statistically impossible for every single person to be in agreement on every topic at every single moment. And if we were, we would stop making progress as the human race and stagnate. Besides, if someone wants to make a split-second judgement about me and un-follow me, that’s their business. Why should I care? Clearly I’m not interested in having those kind of people around in my personal life, so they are also welcome to leave my shallow public life any time.

In my opinion, too many people on tumblr are looking for an excuse to take something personally and want to blow things out of proportion. Since I have a very… direct way of speaking, that doesn’t include a lot of the social sugar-coating people are used to, as you can imagine, a lot of people take offense and I’m just used to this. What people don’t understand, is that I really don’t care. I am here to provide information most of the time, so to me I’m spitting out data. People are often stuck in the mindset that if I am responding to them, then everything I say MUST be about them or be because of something they said, which is not true, that there MUST be some sort of personal aspect to it, when really, there is not.

I am always willing to speak up if I see something that I feel should be corrected (especially if it’s something regarding me). I do so because I feel it should be and because that is how human communication works, by speaking up and establishing what you are okay and what you are not okay with and the exchange of information. It’s also impossible to guilt-trip me – I am pretty sure this is the TOP tactic, the most favorite, of many tumblr users in their arguments. So it’s easier for me to be clear-headed. I have a healthy perspective on life and how it works.

I function by logic, not “feels”, sorry kids. Go guilt trip somebody else. (Actually, don’t. I see you guys picking on meek people just because it’s easier to do, and that’s incredibly pathetic.)

Anyway, I didn’t mean to launch into this long thing, but I really appreciated you taking the time to reach out to me about it and it was worth the effort. Thank you again for sending me that message, and for being such an awesome person yourself. It says a lot about you that you are able to perceive and understand such things! I wish you the best.
