I love your art so much,, it makes me want to get into the transformers fandom!! ;-; ;-; where do I start though .. its intimidating
aw thank you so much!! and yeah,, i totally get how there's so much in transformers when you first look at it ;v;
the g1 cartoon from 1984 is a great place to get started if you want to get to know the original characters and setup, since pretty much everything after has taken some amount of inspiration from it! it's an incredibly 80s-feeling show, and i think it's good if you enjoy some lighthearted fun and a massive cast of silly characters !
or if you want something that has a more focused/serious tone, i think Transformers Prime from 2010 is probably one of the more beloved tf series to date, in terms of its writing, the depth of its characters and relationships, production quality and visuals,, and like.impact on fandom maybe,, definitely has huge rewatchability for me :)
personally, i was obsessed with the 2007 Transformers Animated cartoon when i was younger, so i've always had a soft spot for it ^-^ it took a very different direction from other tf stories and i think it's kept itself a nice little legacy for that, for its newer setting and design style especially, and i think it's a fun watch on its own if you've never seen anything else from transformers!
i hope if you do decide to check out transformers that you enjoy it!! these three are all family-friendly animated series that are relatively easy to find, i'm pretty sure they're all available in full somewhere under the official transformers youtube channel :)
though of course, if something else catches your eye, i say just go for it!! have fun :D
#the live action movies 1-5 from michael bay are prob the most mainstream but.i would not recommend them too much#hdgfjd sorry if this got a little long#;;-; me when im talking about transformers vs when im talking about anything else...#asks#tf g1#tfa#tfp

How do you feel about the different Transformers movies and shows? Like, how do you feel about Prime vs Animated, etc.
Well, let's go down the list:
-I haven't watched G1 at all aside from snippets on Youtube when people talk about it in retrospective videos or things like that. It's probably too dated and goofy for me to enjoy it, to be honest.
-Beast Wars is so. freakin'. ugly. It makes me wince just watching a little bit. I wish I had a better tolerance for it because I've heard good things but I doubt I'll ever give it a chance.
-RID 2001 seems vaguely familiar but I doubt I watched it.
-I remember loving the Unicron trilogy, and most of my actual Transformers toys are from that era, but I couldn't tell you what the heck it was about nowadays. I might revisit that one someday but I don't really have nostalgia for it.
-I'm actually currently watching Transformers Animated! I didn't even know it existed till a couple years ago. I'm very early on, but enjoying it so far. I know a lot of people have an issue with the art design in Animated but it just feels like early Omniverse to me and I really dig Omniverse so, it's fine. I also think it has a pretty unique and interesting setting!
-I watched maybe a dozen TF Prime episodes a couple years ago. I enjoyed it fine but something about the weirdly smoothed out Bayverse-like designs seems off-putting to me. Still, it has pretty good action and I remember liking everyone well enough, even the human kids. I'll probably finish it someday, if I can get through how ridiculous Arcee's robot to alt-form size difference is, lol. I haven't watched anything else in the Aligned continuity.
-I started watching Cyberverse but got distracted after episode 1 hahaha. I haven't formed much of an opinion on it, though I guess I do appreciate how bright and colorful it is.
-I did watch most of the War For Cybertron one (the first series) but it started to feel a little 2 edgy 5 me at the time. I'll also readily admit that it's just weird for me not to hear Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime. I'll probably finish this one someday since it's an easy watch on Netflix.
As for the movies, I've watched all the Bayverse ones. I have a soft spot for the first movie (though I just...don't care one iota for Sam so I would skip his bits), even though that's a 7/10 film at best. The rest just became progressively worse, so aside from some cherrypicked moments they're not worth talking about.
Obviously, I love Bumblebee, but I personally consider it a different continuity. It may be a safe story and kind of a rehash of Iron Giant but I don't really care. The bots look great, Charlie's the best human character in a Transformers property, and the self-contained story meant I could use it easily for the Kryptonverse hahaha.
I think my favorite so far is Transformers Prime, but that's honestly not saying much! I'll update you if I do end up watching more haha.

If you're still doing the tf asks: 🤍💬 :)
💬 First because I got multiple asks about this and I think it’s really interesting! I actually can’t land a favorite, but there are some that I really like including:
Milne pictured Tarn’s voice as Keith David and one of the writers (Jro?) said he could play every instrument. That means he can probably professionally play the otomatone, the xylophone, and the minecraft note block.
Some of the G1 Japanese designs, like Deathsaurus, were reused for the Brave series! The pic below is Red Geist from Brave of Legend Da Gam. TF also does a lot of Brave references too, being that both franchises are by Takara.
On the topic of Deathsaurus, he actually has a soft spot for kids. He'll wreak havoc on the earth but he actually feels pain whenever he hurts a child. In the manga, he killed this one kid's parents and severely injured him, but in his terror he had him partially rebuilt into a cyborg and straight up adopted him. In another manga-related instance, he had the main human character Jan as well as some of the boys from Masterforce kidnapped so he could try bribing them with candy and video games to join him and be part of his army (but really he probably just wanted more kids) god I wish that were me
Optimus Prime apparently shares a voice with the Predator.
This isn’t an obscure fact, but more like obscure media: But Bee in the City is such a hilarious script reading. I HIGHLY recommend you listen to it! Out of context, it’s about TFA Bumblebee meeting Beast Wars Megatron at a drive thru.
🤍 There’s something about Censere that is just... SO cool. I wish more people talked about him. The space cape and the floral melds two of my aesthetics together, and topping it off with the whole “legendary god of death” thing is just CHEF’S KISS. I love how they spun the god of death thing. You’d think the death guy would stereotypically be the evil one who does the betraying, like what the legends said, but nope! They subverted the trope and made one of the seemingly good guys do the betraying! Also, he’s such a kind-hearted and chill person. You can tell how much he vibes.
I also really like all the human Decepticons from Masterforce, especially Giga, Mega, and Cancer. Masterforce is a really unique and oddball show that you probably won’t enjoy if you don’t like TF media with humans in it (or a big emphasis on humans), but for what it is, it’s really fun! I also like the idea of the Decepticons having a cultish influence on humanity to the point where some would even join them. The three I mentioned are all basically a family, with scenes dedicated to them doing things a family would do. It’s a really sweet and cool dynamic that was some of my favorite parts of Masterforce!
If you’re willing to get past some of the really dumb concepts (like there’s a whole human supremacy thing, but to be fair this was 1988 before all the cool Cybertronian lore stuff) and the predominantly human cast (and the fact that the main four autobots kinda get sidelined to not-optimus prime), I recommend Masterforce. It’s goofy, it’s nonsensical, but it’s a fun romp!
