28.06.2019 Heute Morgen um 7 Uhr legte MS-Albatros in Küdema Bay, der größten Insel Estlands an. Mit dem Bus fuhren wir in die Hauptstadt Kuressaare. Hier leben 15 Tausend der insgesamt 30 Tausend Bewohner der Insel. Wir besichtigten die spätgotische Bischhofsburg aus dem 14.Jh. Das einst sowjetische Kurbad hat seinen Charme bis heute bewart. Wir schlenderten bei diesmal schönstem Wetter durch die Stadt bis es dann nach 4 Stunden zurück zum Schiff ging.

11.08.2018 Unser nächstes Ziel war Húsavik wo uns MS-Albatros um 7:30 Uhr abgesetzt hat. Von hier aus startete unsere Überlandtour nach nach Akureyri wo uns unser Schiff gegen 16 Uhr wieder einsammeln wird. Zuerst fuhren wir in den größten Nationalpark Islands und sahen uns den beeindruckenden Dettifoss-Wasserfall an. Von hier aus fuhren wir weiter ins Mÿvatn-Gebiet. Wir legten einen Stopp in Námaskarõ ein, ein geothermisches Gebiet voller Schlammtümpel und heißen Dampfaustritten. Vorbei am Mÿvaten-See (Mückensee) ging es weiter zum schönsten Wasserfall auf Island, dem Godafoss. Bei der Ankunft in Akureyri wartete schon das Ausflugsschiff zur Walbeobachtung auf uns. Die Bilder dazu gibt es in unserem Film. Wir sind wieder auf See und nehmen Kurs auf Ammassalik auf Grönland.

However, you can’t stay mad     at him forever because he tells you repeatedly he did it because he     thought you were cute.

Well, duets did happen all     the time, but that was when you tried your best to sing

When you were alone you     didn’t care what you sounded like, or how you looked

You were dancing with a broom     as you swept the room, singing to it as if it was a person

Zen was watching the whole     thing from the door frame.

You tried to do a cool thing     with the broom where you threw it to the ground and then kicked it up and     caught it

You did not catch it

Instead it smacked you straight in the face    

You frowned as your nose     started to bleed, and Zen forgot he wasn’t suppose to be there so he raced     forward to help you    

He scared the shit out of you

“Are you okay MC?!”    

“How long have you been standing there??”    

He smirked

“Long enough”     

You smacked him and went red

But he assured you, you looked     very cute dancing and singing.

Jumin came home early today,     and did not tell you    

So, he was standing in the     doorway, a smirk on his face, as you jumped around the apartment yelling a     song.

You screamed when you saw     him, and fell to your knees out of pure fear. 

He was chuckling at you     before He approached you and gave you a quick kiss

The two of you got ready for     bed

And Jumin made a mental note     to come home early more often    

Because you looked very cute     when you thought no one was watching

Saeran was out, Saeyoung was supposed     to be out as well, but he     wasn’t, he was hiding, observing what you’d do on your own

It was very interesting, to     say the least

You began to sing a song he     didn’t actually know    

That’s because it’s a song     from a show he header seen    

You were draping all over     furniture and dramatically touching lamps as if they were people

“I’ve always had a weakness for bareness and bleakness!     I crush all your hopes and then I watch you cry!”     

You tried to do some cool     spinny thing with the lamp    

And got tangled in the cord    

And the lamp fell

Saeyoung couldn’t help but     laugh, which drew attention to him.

And after, you put on     whatever song you wanted and started to dance ridiculously

And of course, Saeyoung     joined you

And decided right there on     the spot he was moving out

You were vacuuming and you     had headphones in, but you were on the other side of the apartment and     didn’t think V would hear you    

You were horribly wrong

V could hear the commotion,     it sounded like elephants running through the house, so he went to     investigate

And what he found was much more interesting than a herd of     elephants     

You bopping your head- rather     violently- to a     song as you sing along    

“Nah, Nah honey I’m good! I could have another but I     probably should not, I’ve got somebody at home and if I stay I might not     leave alone!”     

V smiled and laughed, you     didn’t hear him, but when you shut off the vacuum and turned around you     saw him smiling

His smile made you less     embarrassed, somehow, and you unplugged your headphones

Instead of stopping, you     turned the song up and threw the phone on the bed before grabbing V and     dragging him to a dance    

You both just spun around the     apartment, laughing as you tripped over each other’s feet 

At the end of the song you     both collapsed on to the ground and stayed there for hours listening to     the other songs that played, and enjoyed each other’s company

You were in the kitchen     making breakfast

And he woke up at the sound     of your voice

A little annoyed

But he forgave it easily when     he saw how funny you looked    

You were dramatically turning     and throwing your hands out, singing like no one else was in the area.

The words you sung connected with him a lot    

You were mixing the pancake     mix, and when you turned you caught sight of Saeran. You dropped the mix     and froze in horror    

“I didn’t know you were there”    

“I could tell”    

He told you to keep it down     so he could sleep, and after he said it he regretted it because he missed     your voice

A few days later he heard you     singing again, and found you dancing once more while you cleaned the room

So, this time he watched you     for longer, hiding better so he wouldn’t get caught

You saw him, and instead of     freaking out, you sneakily made your way to him, grabbing his arms and     dragging him into the middle of the room

“MC, knock it off-”    

“Not until you dance!”     

You grinned up at him and     wiggled your body strangely, and he couldn’t contain it anymore

Saeran began to laugh, harder     and louder than he had ever done so before

And the two of you wiggled     weirdly and thrashed around, punching the air and screaming the lyrics

Saeran gathered some courage     and pulled you close to him, kissing you softly before the next song     starts

How Germany is integrating its refugees

NAURAS NERAPI lived a comfortable life in Aleppo as a manager at a French catering company. Then came the Syrian war. He fled through Turkey and the Balkans to Germany, arriving in September 2015. “They put me on a bus but I didn’t know where I was going,” he explains. At a reception camp in Berlin he offered to help with the cooking. Today he speaks good German, lives in a shared flat and works as a chef. “In Aleppo I was left with nothing. Germany has been really good to me.”

His arrival coincided with a pivotal point in Angela Merkel’s career. As thousands made their way north and west, the chancellor declared “We can manage this,” and kept Germany’s borders open. Some 900,000 people arrived that year. Many predicted social chaos and Mrs Merkel’s downfall. Her apparent cruise to victory at the election on September 24th is a testament to two factors. First, thanks largely to a repatriation deal with Turkey, the numbers coming fell to 200,000 last year and just 80,000 so far this year. Second, and more happily, despite the strains most of the refugees are on the path to integration.

That path begins at the reception camps, from where newcomers are allocated to hostels like Rudower 18, in eastern Berlin. “We had three days to turn a derelict school into a home,” says Andrea Koppelmann, its director. Today, children’s paintings on the walls make it cheerier, but conditions remain basic: two or three families to a classroom. Women with babies peer nervously from behind bedsheets strung up for privacy. Other hostels focus on gay and lesbian refugees, lone men or unaccompanied minors. Friedrich Kiesinger, a psychologist whose charity, Albatros, cared for some 40,000 people in reception centres, took over an empty hotel and turned it into a home for tortured, traumatised and disabled refugees.

Within three months refugees with good prospects of staying should move into “community homes” with private bedrooms and kitchens. But building these takes time. One family has been in Rudower 18 for over two years. The final step—moving to a private flat—might take four or five years, says Mr Kiesinger. And in any case, he adds, integration does not end at that point: “We don’t want little Afghanistans growing up behind doors.” Education and work are both essential.

The first is going well. Children are usually attending school within three weeks of arrival, says Ms Koppelmann. Several teenagers at Rudower 18 attend the nearby Anne Frank School, where Dagmar Breske, a teacher, has devised a three-stage programme. In a class for illiterates, three Afghan boys haltingly read out lists of words beginning with the letter “A”. In another, the second stage, seven teenagers—mostly Syrians and Iraqis—are practising multiplication. A third class, the highest, is going over verb forms in preparation for the test determining whether they can enter regular German schools. Much of the work is cultural: training the teenagers to attend classes on time, follow rules and treat women with respect.

Getting adults into work is harder. Only those granted asylum can take jobs. Once they have submitted their applications, those with good prospects (like many Syrians) take a compulsory integration course: 600 hours of German lessons and 100 hours of civics. Many refugees have had little education (see chart 1) and progress towards work could take time (see chart 2). Mr Kiesinger blames the obsession with formal language qualifications: “The best way to learn German is to get a job.”

The asylum process is slow, with appeals taking years to process. Many officials are new and inexperienced. Schools and homes are often left without guidance. Yet everywhere people are muddling through and mucking in. Networks of schools, refugee homes and lawyers are springing up to share good practice. Legions of volunteers have turned out (100 at Mr Kiesinger’s hotel). Michele Pirger is one. “I just read up on the subject and decided to get involved,” she says. Having started by taking refugees to concerts, she now helps Copts who have fled persecution in Egypt, and houses one in her flat.

How well are the refugees integrating? The picture is varied. But those with previous education, a good prospect of asylum and an affinity with Germany—like Mr Nerapi—do best. And two big trends stand out. Men, who make up two-thirds of asylum applicants, struggle disproportionately. Many travelled to Germany alone, are disappointed by the drudgery they find and miss the social status they once enjoyed. Waiting while asylum or deportation processes drag on, they can easily slip into addiction, crime or radicalisation, says Mr Kiesinger. They need work: “It’s not just about money. It’s about friends and emotional stability…the young men who come here are too inactive.”

Children, on the other hand, integrate easily. In Ms Breske’s classrooms pupils who arrived months ago are fluent, self-confident and ambitious. Asked what they want to be, the boys tend to say policemen or engineers and the girls—many without headscarves—say doctors or lawyers. Omar, a 16-year-old from Baghdad, is about to start training as a hairdresser. Mahdiya, an Afghan, says she plans to study political science and become a politician: she admires Mrs Merkel. Ms Breske tells of a recent day-trip when German and refugee pupils mixed so well that “I could no longer tell them apart.”

Of course it will be many years before Germany can fully assess how well it has integrated its newcomers. But it is already clear that the gloomiest predictions were wrong. Germany has taken in more than 1.2m people over the past two years, and coped. There is much more to do. But for now, it seems to be managing.

MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has welcomed a total of 302 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) from five countries.

On Monday morning, some 132 OFWs came home from Singapore and 121 from Algeria.

The repatriation was made possible by the Philippine Embassies in Singapore and Tripoli in coordination with their respective employers who shouldered their plane tickets to Manila.

In the afternoon, DFA welcomed home four overseas Filipinos from Japan, nine seafarers of MS Amera and MS Albatros from Germany, and 36 seafarers of Celebrity Apex cruise ship from France.

The Philippine embassies in Berlin and Paris, and the Philippine Consulate in Frankfurt facilitated the successful return of the seafarers to the Philippines in coordination with the manning agencies, BSM and RCCL.

All arriving OFWs went through medical assessments and rapid testing in the one-stop-shops at NAIA Terminals 1 and 2. In line with the whole-of-government approach, the one-stop-shop ensures that OFWs are assisted upon their return to the Philippines during the enhanced community quarantine period.

The OFWs will undergo a stringent 14-day quarantine in Bureau of Quarantine-accredited hotels paid for by their employers/agencies.

OFWs without agencies were endorsed to OWWA, while overseas Filipinos (e.g. students and tourists) will undergo mandatory quarantine in their respective homes. (PR)

Coronavirus: Canadians say they’re leaving Coral Princess cruise ship docked in Florida

Canadians began leaving the COVID-19-stricken Coral Princess cruise ship on Monday, after the ship reached Florida late last week.

There were 97 Canadian passengers aboard the ship, which left Santiago, Chile, on March 5 and docked in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on Friday.

The Canadian Press has been told by at least two couples travelling on the ship that passengers had been allowed to leave the ship and were on a bus headed for the airport.

Gary and Sue Lyon said in an email they were on bus waiting to board a charter flight to Toronto via Columbus and Newark.

“We are all feeling relieved, happy and excited to go home. We will go home and self isolate for 14 days,” the Lyons said in an email.

“We appreciate all the crew and staff of the Coral Princess have done for us during this very challenging time. We wish them all the best.”

Osler said he is getting “mixed signals” about whether he and his wife will have to be quarantined in Toronto for 14 days before moving on to Vancouver.

On Sunday, Foreign Affairs Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne said on Twitter that Canadians on the Coral Princess who don’t have COVID-19 symptoms would be able to return home on a charter aircraft Monday.

“Upon arrival they will be screened again and subject to a mandatory 14-day self-isolation,” Champagne tweeted.

Two people aboard the ship have died, and 12 have tested positive for COVID-19, Princess Cruises has said. Still more are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

The department said it is monitoring the progress 49 Canadians and eight crew members on seven other ships.

The department says it is not aware that any of them have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

The ships are the MS Albatros, Viking Sun, MV Columbus, Costa Deliziosa, Pacific Princess, MSC Magnifica, and the Queen Mary 2.

More recently, Canadians on the MS Zaandam and MS Rotterdam, arrived in Canada on a plane chartered by operator Holland America.

Cruise ships have essentially become floating Petri dishes for the novel coronavirus.

In February, the largest cruise-ship outbreak occurred aboard the Diamond Princess ship, also operated by Princess Cruises.
