This unique bonnet is a great example of how drastically lighting can change the look of a piece!   It was spotted on Lucy Robinson as Mrs. Elton in the 1996 ITV adaptation of 𝑬𝒎𝒎𝒂. But did you know it didn’t originate there?   In 1995, Julia Sawalha wore it to portray Lydia Bennet in 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒓𝒆𝒋𝒖𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒆!   However, the piece almost certainly originated with the 1994 film 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆𝒔𝒔 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒐, in which Wendy Hughes wore it as Mrs.Worrell.   Find out who else wore it at Bit.ly/Acces163

Mrs Elton: The wedding was charming, if a little gauche
The final paragraph of Emma is devoted to a poke at Mrs Elton. Not only is she not invited to the wedding (not a "true friend") she entirely misses the point that the couples happiness is more important than "finery or parade."
"The wedding was very much like other weddings, where the parties have no taste for finery or parade; and Mrs. Elton, from the particulars detailed by her husband, thought it all extremely shabby, and very inferior to her own.—“Very little white satin, very few lace veils; a most pitiful business!—Selina would stare when she heard of it.”—But, in spite of these deficiencies, the wishes, the hopes, the confidence, the predictions of the small band of true friends who witnessed the ceremony, were fully answered in the perfect happiness of the union."

I've been trying to imagine what the Crown Inn looked like and why Mrs. Elton wouldn't quit nagging about it
