Let’s go to the beach, beach! || OPEN

Location: Miami Beach Time: March 30th Event: the Move Status: open to all! 

Fan-fucking-tastic! 

Luca looked out at the white sandy beaches, the clear blue skies, the hordes of people in bathing-suits, and felt like spreading her arms wide and dancing straight into the ocean. This was perhaps the first time in her sad life that she ever went to a beach like this. Dutch beaches were windy, often cold, and a lot cleaner, Chicago was a pitfall of grey skies and coldness - where she had mostly felt at home - and in the past years on the run, she hadn’t really had the chance to enjoy the scenery. 

So this was going to be her day! 

She had bought herself a yellow bathing-suit, despite having wanted a yellow bikini, but she hadn’t been able to find one that wasn’t neon, Sonic flip-flops, a yellow bag that said Miami about forty times in different colours, and huge round sunglasses that made her feel like a superstar for about ten minutes until she saw herself in the mirror. 

“Oh honey, you look like you’re having a fantastic time,” she said to the individual at her side, in such a fake tone that nobody could’ve guessed right off the bat if she was being sincere or sarcastic.

Yeah. Right.

 He hates Damien a little for letting any of them go in the first place. They all should have heard about this shit show a day later, all of the intact and unthreatened. Now, thanks to Damien’s stupid idealism they’re all in danger, and it falls to Cain to make sure that the Jem Family makes it out of this clusterfuck relatively unscathed. That’s easier said than done when the entire conservatory is dissolving into blood and chaos around him. 

He spots one of his own, or at least someone who looks close to one of his own in the crush of people trying to leave or enter the hall. Cain doesn't move so much as he charges, splitting the crowd and tossing people aside as he makes his way to his target. By the time he gets to them, there's someone else there, too close for comfort, and Cain doesn't wait to see what they're going to do before he's grabbing at them, pivoting and pushing all of his weight into a throw that sends them careening towards a plant display. 

“You hurt?” He asks over his shoulder, already pushing a hand behind him that’s alive with the tingling warmth of his power.

He’s sure Damien’s going to be mad at him for this later. Damien’s a good guy and even if Benji wasn’t a good guy, Damien’s probably already thinking about stupid shit like respect for the dead and piety in the face of the massive power vaccuum that will no doubt sweep through Chicago at the loss of one of it’s most powerful mutants.

In the back of his mind, Cain knows he’s right. Somebody doesn’t just kill a gang lord without repercussions, especially not someone as visible and, frankly, reckless as Alma Rosario. The city is hoovering on the edge of a violent abyss and very soon, people are going to start dying. It will be all Cain can manage to make sure that it’s not his people that do. But that won’t happen tonight. The news still needs to spread and the Kings will need to regroup and lick their wounds before they make a move. The Syndicate is bound to retreat as well. They’ll need to fortify their defenses. Even if there was no love lost between Benjamin Granger and most of his stupid little brood, they’re bound to want revenge anyway. Tonight, the streets of Chicago belong the the Jem Family and Cain- Cain intends to fucking lose it out there tonight. He’s always hated Benjamin Granger and his little gang, the way he really only saw mutants as pawns in his little game of theft and wealth. The mutants of this city are better now that he’s gone and Cain is going to celebrate. He buys a round for the first bar he enters and he spends the rest of the night getting well and truly wasted while dropping his ass all over the dance floor. He’s a good 80% of the way to the falling down kind of a drunk when he bumps into someone near the bar. “Heeeeey yoouuu,” he drawls, slinging an arm around them because he recognizes them, vaguely, even if he’s not certain from where right now. “Want me to buy you a uh...some drink? Big night today.”

Damien doesn’t ask much of Cain beyond keeping his gang alive and in working order. Some days that’s easier said than done. This is one of the easier said days. Cain’s still whipped from the riot before. He’d managed about 8 hours of sleep and it still doesn’t feel like enough. He’s cranky and tired. He aches all over and no matter how much he eats, he still feels hungry. He doesn’t want to deal with anybody today but the fact of the matter is that less than 10 hours ago his gang was involved in a major fucking riot and there’s no doubt that a few of them sustained injuries that are going to need fixing soon before infection or blood loss or whatever set in and makes it even more hard for Cain to untangle in the long run. 

So he drags his ass down to his “clinic” which is really just a mostly sterile room Damien’s set up for him in a  back alley just a stone’s throw from the house, orders himself a truly insane number of street tacos, and sends out a mass text that the doctor is in but only for a limited time. Then it’s just a matter of setting up Netflix and waiting for the first of his patients to start wandering in.
