2017 Reflection into 2018

2017 was not a great year for a lot of people. There was heart ache unimaginable for the world and then there was the little lights in between that kept people’s hope.

I however didn’t have a bad year. On the contrary. It was a huge growth year for me and one I will look back on fondly. 

Jeremy and I started off the year slowly like we usually do. Recovering from holidays, getting back into a routine and saving up money for upcoming things we would like to do.

We were hitting volleyball hard. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and some Saturdays were committed to playing. By the middle of the year we were burnt out and rethinking playing so much. At the moment we only play a max of two nights a week.

I moved my blog over to Bluehost and paid for a domain that I wanted to run with. I learned how to get everything the way I wanted and started learning the ins and outs with social media and pinterest. It was exciting and new. Now I know I really enjoy writing for me.

In April, for our wedding anniversary, Jeremy and I headed to Vegas for a three day weekend. We stayed at the Mirage and made sure to do a ton of walking and sight seeing. My favorite part of the trip was seeing Cirque de Soliel’s “O” at the Bellagio. We tried to buy tickets from the booth on the street and a guy told us it was outdated...we went anyway and I loved it. 

When we returned home we had tickets to see our favorite band Panic at the Disco! We had gotten VIP floor seats after the show was canceled the year before. The swag bag was fun and the show was unforgettable. 

By the middle of the year I had saved up enough money to buy myself the Silhouette Cameo 3 that I had wanted for a very long time. I’ve since learned vinyl, glass etching and heat transfers for shirts. I cannot wait to dive deeper into learning and hopefully open my own Etsy shop by the end of this year. Homemade gifts will soon be the norm.

At the end of May I started interviewing for a new job and by the middle of June accepted a new position. It was hard to make the switch but I have never regretted it. I started the new job July 3rd and have now been there for six months. It is the most rewarding fulfilling job and I cannot see where this year takes it.

Right after starting my new job I refocused my workouts. I was training for the wrong reasons and needed to refresh. I signed up for Beach Body on Demand and have loved it. I started working out for the way I feel, not to punish my body to make it look a certain way. I work out for my mental heath and that’s best for me. PiYo and Turbo Fire are my two favorites.

The few days leading up to September were some of the most fun. Jeremy found out he had an opportunity to go back to Ireland for work so we scooped up the opportunity, bought tickets and flew out 3 days later on September 1st. Ireland was a dream come true and will be very hard to beat but I know that any trip we take together will be awesome.

We managed to also go camping twice last year and will hopefully keep up with that again.

Jeremy met siblings that he has never seen at the end of the year and we hope to visit them again over Memorial Day weekend.  

All in all, I’d say it was a pretty good year. Jeremy and I were talking resolutions and decided that we need to get some goals together. 

He would like to start reading more and I would like to continue down the road of speaking to myself kindly. I’d like to dive more into yoga and see where I can push my body to. We want to take Ke$ha on more adventures and will start with our anniversary trip in April. 

I’m sure we will add more later but for now I am happy and content and looking forward to 2018.
