"Yancy?"

Ace shifts on his feet, trying not to show how nervous he is, and only mildly succeeding. He hasn't done any digging whatsoever, but even so, the information that it's Yancy's birthday has reached him, one way or the other.

"Would you, ah, would you like to go out to dinner? With me?"

He's dressed up in come of his nicest clothes, pink and white fabric wrapping around his frame in a modern cut. Make-up impeccable, jewelry glinting in the dying daylight. He's not sure why he's so nervous about asking his boyfriend out to dinner.

It's not like he's given him his gift yet.

It's all too coincidental.

Ace is stunning on a normal day, but tonight, he's... damn. Yancy can't help but let his gaze slowly wander up and down his frame in appreciation as he lets out a soft hum. It's like he's dressed for a special occasion, but it's just Halloween. Well, it's also Yancy's birthday, but there's no way he could've-

Oh, who was he kidding? With Ace's resources, the mafia prince could find out practically anything he wanted. Or, he gave Hank a certain Look, and the old man crumpled like an empty paper bag.

Not that Yancy could blame him.

The mob boss usually spent Halloween at home, opting out of various party invites. But that was before he was blessed with Ace in his life. "Darlin', I'd love to." He answers genuinely. Looking down at himself, he's wearing black slacks and a lavender dress shirt with a couple of buttons undone.

His color choices have expanded slightly since dating Ace. "Is this alright, or should I change?" He asks with a playful smirk.

I don't even know how to begin to express how incredible and affirming Isaac's storyline was in the new heartstopper season (not surprising, given that Alice Oseman has written multiple ace-centric books), but like. wow

it was especially amazing seeing him pick up Ace by Angela Chen, which was extremely influential to me as well!! not to mention iconic aro ace book Summer Bird Blue by Akemi Dawn Bowman. and Alice Oseman's Loveless is lurking around in the background all season, which is the BEST kind of cameo imo!

Hey, so I caught up with One Piece a while ago and I'm in love! While we're discussing endgame OP, do you ever think we'll learn about or at least see Luffy's mom? I know in the beginning Oda kinda wrote the majority of women.... strangely, but I feel like he's gotten a lot better. But it's so weird to just leave out Luffy's mom for so long, at least not a mention from Garp. The fact that we still know so little about Dragon though makes me feel like we're gonna get an info dump about him sooner or later (kinda like Ace's backstory) but honestly I feel it's 50/50 either way

jokingly i think it would be funny if it was crocodile

but otherwise, if we get a background on dragon (which i REALLY think we will) we may get luffy's mom, in some form or another

and if we don't well... i won't be too sad about it, oda described what he wanted for a mom for luffy and it matches up with dadan, who did raise luffy and was a mother to him

"Yancy?"

Ace's voice floats from his bedroom, where he'd been rummaging around for a better shirt, because he was not about to go out with the mob boss dressed like that.

He doesn't mean to pry, or to see something he's not meant to, but there hadn't been any nice shirts hanging in the closet, so he'd thought he'd try the drawers and—

When he steps into the living room, there's a dark blue length of rope loosely looped around his hands, and he looks rather confused.

"I thought you promised Father you wouldn't bring business home?" That was one of the very few reasons Ace was allowed over at all, without the usual platoon of bodyguards.

(Of course, he didn't know why Adrian and Father had seemingly changed their minds when it came to Yancy.)

Alright, so Yancy wasn't the most adventurous when it came to his wardrobe. He preferred darker colors and nothing too loud when it came to designs. But Ace had insisted on finding another shirt for him to wear, and it was incredibly difficult (read: impossible) to tell him no.

He's inspecting his shirt with a slight frown when he hears Ace call out to him. "Yeah, sweetheart-"

Ah. Shit. Yancy had expected him to stick to the closet, if he was being completely honest. His eyebrows raise up high as he looks from the younger man's face to the rope in his hands. It... wasn't the time, but he can't help what seeing those ropes against his skin is doing to him.

Not trusting his voice, he clears his throat before running a hand through his hair. This could easily go wrong in so many ways. "I... those aren't exactly business related, baby." He lets out a nervous chuckle before continuing. "It's for something called shibari. It's like a hobby of mine, you could say."

Tara's nearly 27 when she meets number 2. He's charming and gives her gifts related to things she likes, but he's pushy and always asking for more. Sam and Kirby dislike him before they even know him, so cautious of what happened last time. He's always polite and friendly when they're around, but there's something about the way Tara interacts with him that makes them wary.

Tara's 27 when she meets Amber. She's still with her boyfriend at the time. It's Amber who makes Tara realise she's not actually happy with him, that she's not comfortable with everything he asks of her. Tara jumps into a relationship with Amber very quickly after dumping her boyfriend and it makes Sam and Kirby SO suspicious of her and her intentions at first.

The mob boss unexpectedly finds himself with an Ace-shaped ball of energy in his arms, a smile so bright it could probably power a skyscraper.

"Oh, please, will you attend the Christmas Ball with me, this year? Everyone will be there!"

He has gifts planned for his boyfriend, but those can wait for after the event. Ace does love his events.

"Even Father is going! You have to come!"

Yancy smiles as his arms open to accommodate his boyfriend, easily encircling and holding him close. He was never one for celebrating the holidays, but then again, the mob boss hasn't really had anyone to celebrate with. Other than the offers he got from Hank to fly back home with him.

Even though attending an event where Victor would be present is a bit nerve-wracking, he couldn't possibly say no to Ace. Not when it clearly means a lot to him.

Gently grasping his chin, Yancy leans in and kisses the corner of his mouth. "Of course, baby. I wouldn't miss it for the world."
