Pickleball is the most I have ever felt that there was some sort of insidious agent pulling at the strings of American society. Illuminati, shadow government, matrix simulation, what have you. Pickleball just appeared overnight and was apparently the new big fad except no one actually seems to play it. No one ever talks about pickleball. No one ever says “I have a pickleball team that meets every Thursday.” No one ever invites you for a match. Yet content farm pages on Twitter post about pickleball. Flyers show up pinned to bulletin boards and on the windows of Chinese restaurants advertising pickleball leagues. Pickleball courts open up in abandoned Sears in the mall. Employers host team building pickleball events. What for? What eldritch god or arcane algorithm has demanded that we must play pickleball?

One of the most underrated aspects of the tumblr experience is that half the userbase will see a post like “actually, the cishet white historians don’t want you to know this, but JFK was secretly a black trans woman” and comment “wow I never knew they were hiding that from us!” And the other half of the userbase will see a post like “ordered a 6-piece McNugget and they gave me 7 nuggets” and comment “lmao and then everyone clapped”

So weird seeing the Popular Bloggers come back to tumblr now. Like idk, it makes it seem like they left originally just because they thought they couldn’t get as much clout here after the porn ban and they’re coming back now that it looks like tumblr is going to have a resurgence.
