Always Our Daughter | N Hischier
summary; even after you split, his mom will always consider you her daughter.
-
In all of your time with Nico, you’d always been close to his mother. Katja had treated you like a second daughter from the moment Nico had brought you home.
So when you split up she was heartbroken. You felt sorry to be loosing a second family but you knew this was best for you both.
Nina reached out a few times to check on you but they all went radio silent for a few weeks until you got a text from his mom.
hi sweetheart, just checking in! you’ve been busy! it’s been so strange not having you around, we’re so proud of you! Please reach out if you ever need anything — you’ll always be our daughter.
It felt nice that she thought about you.
It was a little sad how you felt. You missed them.
Everything was changing; you’d moved out of your shared apartment in Hoboken and up to Buffalo for cheaper rent. Your mom had taken all of your belongings out of your shared home back in Bern.
She’d sent you a picture of the house almost completely empty, considering you’d bought the house together in the off season you were the only one who was able to stay in Switzerland to decorate and Nico didn’t get much of a say.
you moved! your mother showed us pictures of your new house, it’s gorgeous! please let us know if you’ll be visiting us on your trip back to Bern this Christmas, we miss you so much.
When you finally found a place you got to work making it yours, trying to make it home.
you’d never lived alone, constantly moving from rental to rental in Jersey to accommodate Nico’s lifestyle. Your first apartment was perfect and you’d considered buying it but as the internet does, fans had shared your address online and you then had to move a further seven times for the same reasons.
When you’d finally settled on your home in Bern you had planned to make it your own, you made countless Pinterest boards for each room.
You stayed up late nights in the bedroom, laying on the mattress on the floor holding one another while you spoke about all of the things you’d do to the house and all of the memories it would hold.
You spoke about how you’d get married in the garden, how you’d bring your children home here and how you’d decorate their nursery’s.
you went to South Africa?! how was it, sweetheart? you always said you wanted to go… I saw on facebook you’re dating someone new, is he nice? We’d love to meet him. miss you sweetheart.
When Nico had finally settled payment and given you your half of the money for the house you decided to go on vacation. A vacation you’d spoken about going on with Nico countless times but hadn’t gotten around to it.
On the plane you’d been sat next to a guy who you got chatting with. He told you he was headed to Johannesburg to do work, he worked with a non profit.
The two of you spent the entire flight chatting away, getting to know one another and before you parted ways at the airport you exchanged phone numbers with the promise to call when you got back to the US.
hi sweetheart, your mother told us you got a new job! Congratulations sweetheart you’ll be great.
After you’d gotten home and Alex called you, he showed you all the stuff he’d done in South Africa and you were enamoured with it and began complaining about your job and how you wanted to help more people.
Being the captains girlfriend in New Jersey meant you took lead on fundraisers and community events, you missed it.
So Alex told you about an event organiser position that was open in his company so you went for the interview and got it.
It felt nice to be helping make a difference again.
happy new year love. it was so nice to see you last week, congratulations to you and alex. you’re going to be an amazing mother, nobody deserves this more than you. can’t wait to meet this little one! don’t become a stranger please…. we love you! x
Things with Alex moved quickly. He moved into your apartment, the two of you settled into a routine and only a few months in you found out you were pregnant.
It was a massive shock and you were something bordering excited and disappointed. You liked Alex, truly you did and it was nice to be sharing your life with someone again but this was all a lot happening in such a short period of time.
Whenever you thought about having babies you always imagined them with brunette hair, Nico’s nose crinkle and his beautiful big eyes.
You called your mom and cried for a little bit, she tried her very best to soothe you. At one point you considered calling Nico, just wanting someone who would make you feel better.
it’s been a while! A little girl…. congratulations sweetheart, not long until she’s here. nico sends his well wishes, Nina shared your photos with him I hope you don’t mind. let us know if you got our gift in the mail.
A little girl.
You posted it on instagram, a heart shaped cake with pink icing inside with the caption ‘my sweet slice of heaven ☁️🩷’
Nico saw it, everyone saw it. They all tried avoiding the conversation in the locker room but Nina sent it straight to him ‘HAVE YOU SEEN THIS?!? THAT SHOULD BE YOURS!!!’
Things with Alex hadn’t been so smooth sailing, he’d been making off handed comments about your body and you guys had been arguing about finances, with the additional costs of a baby coming you were trying to be smart. That wasn’t something you’d ever had to worry about with Nico, he’d fight you to keep your credit card in your purse. He always said his money was the least he could give you for everything you’d ever given him.
oh sweetheart. claudia is just perfect. she looks exactly like you and she’s got the chubbiest little cheeks. your mom told us what’s happened the past few months, I’m so sorry sweetheart, someday someone will come into your lives for you both and change it for the best. one day claudia will know just how strong her mommy is. we’re always here to support you; we’re so glad you reconnected with nico. he’s been showing us all the pictures and videos you send him, we’re so excited to meet her someday. take care of yourself schatz, we’ll see you when you come home x
Claudia, the love of your life.
Your babygirl was born and she was perfect. Everyone said she looked like you which you were grateful for, not a reminder of Alex who had taken off just before she was born.
You freaked out when you went into labour, all alone with nobody to call so you called the only person you knew you could rely on.
He was by your side, holding your hand and whispering words of encouragement in your ear.
“I can’t do it! I can’t!”
“You can Schatz, you can. You’re so strong you can” you cried out in pain, squeezing his hand tighter.
He named her.
“Does she have a name?” He asks, stroking the little girls cheek.
“Alex wanted to call her Emma but I don’t like it” you scrunched your nose in discontent “My mom gave me a book of Swiss names but Alex wouldn’t even let me look at it he didn’t like-“
“How about Claudia?” He asks and your eyes go wide before you give a soft smile, remembering back to the first night in your house, holding one another while you said
“and our babies! if it’s a girl, Claudia and if it’s a boy I’d like to use Luca”
You nod, eyes full of tears “Claudia… hi babygirl”
Even after you’d gotten home and settled into life with your little girl you kept in contact with Nico. He asked for updates at least four times a day and you would FaceTime when he was on the road.
The devils last game of the season was against the sabres and you took Claudia to her first NHL game.
Nico found you both, standing next to the ice he waved to the baby through the plexi
“Hi, Chäferli!”
happy birthday to Claudia! we can’t wait to give her gift, we may have gone a little overboard but you can’t blame us… she’s our first grandbaby!! love you and we’ll see you three later at her party.
“Happy birthday Chäferli!” Nico shouted, peppering kisses all over the one year olds face as she sat in her high chair eating her cupcake delivered specially from the team.
Your camera shutter caught both of their attention, the two looking over at you with smiles and you shrugged “Capturing the memories”
Nico shakes his head, unclipping Claudia from her high chair and waltzing over to where you stood in the kitchen with your camera pushing the camera down from your face to kiss you softly
“Best day of our lives” he mumbled and you stroked Claudia’s cheek while nodding
“Our precious girl, you made this family”

STILFONTEIN, South Africa (AP) — South African police said Wednesday they have ended a rescue operation and believe they have brought out all the survivors and retrieved all the bodies from an abandoned gold mine where hundreds of miners were trapped for months while working illegally.
The surprise announcement came just a day after the police minister said the rescue operation would likely last until at least next week. Police said that 78 bodies had been recovered from the gold mine since the rescue operation began on Monday and more than 240 survivors had been rescued.
Police said rescuers would do a final sweep of the mine on Thursday to ensure no more survivors or bodies were underground.
It apparently brought a sudden end to a disaster that has focused criticism on the South African government’s decision last year to try to force out the miners by cutting off food and other supplies.
Civic groups say the government’s weekslong refusal to stage a rescue effectively left scores of miners to die of starvation or dehydration having been underground for at least two months. Authorities only began the rescue operation on Monday after they were ordered to by a court.
South African authorities have argued that the miners were able to exit through another shaft at Buffelsfontein Gold Mine, one of the deepest in the mineral-rich country.
But activists said that would involve a dangerous trek underground, and many became too weak or ill after months underground with little food and water. Police contend some miners refused to come out.
South Africa’s second biggest political party, which is part of a government coalition, has called for an independent inquiry to find out “why the situation was allowed to get so badly out of hand.”
Authorities ordered to launch a rescue operation
In response to a request by a relative of one of the miners, a court last week ordered a rescue operation, which began Monday. A specialist mining rescue company has been dropping a small cage thousands of meters (feet) into the mine to retrieve survivors and bodies. But no personnel from the company entered the shaft because they considered it too dangerous — instead community volunteers headed down in the cage to help the miners out.
Police first tried to force the miners out of the closed mine near the town of Stilfontein, southwest of Johannesburg, in November by cutting off their supplies. The move, part of a larger crackdown on illegal mining, began a standoff between authorities and the miners and members of the community.
A court ruled that authorities had to allow supplies in — but civic groups argue that officials needed to do more at that point because even without police interference the miners weren’t able to get enough food and water into the mine and the situation was becoming dire.
The mine is 2.5 kilometers (1.5 miles) deep with multiple shafts, many levels and a maze of tunnels. A group representing the miners had said there were numerous groups in various parts of the mine and estimated that more than 500 miners were underground when the rescue started.
The survivors were arrested and will face charges of illegal mining and trespassing, police said. Authorities seized gold, explosives, firearms and more than $2 million in cash from the miners.
It’s unclear exactly how long they were underground, but relatives say some of them have been there since July.
Video from underground
One of the civic groups representing the miners released two videos over the weekend showing what it said were the dire conditions underground. The videos were on a cellphone carried out of the mine by one of the miners, the group said, along with a note urging people to watch them.
In them, dozens of what appear to be dead bodies can be seen lined up in a darkened cavern and wrapped in plastic. They also show shirtless, emaciated-looking miners while the man filming says they are dying and begs for authorities to send them food and get them out.
‘Smoke them out’ tactics
Authorities are particularly under fire for their tactics last year, when they cut off food and other supplies to the miners underground for a period of time. It was an attempt to “smoke them out,” a South African Cabinet minister said, adding that authorities would not help the miners because they were “criminals.”
Rights groups have condemned the plan, accusing authorities of contributing to a “massacre” at the mine. South Africa’s second largest trade union federation called it “one of the most horrific displays of state willful negligence in recent history.”
But while anger is high in the local community, the tragedy has not stoked a strong reaction across South Africa, where illegal mining is often in the news.
The practice is common at mines that companies have closed because they are no longer profitable, leaving groups of informal miners to enter in a search for leftover deposits. South Africa has an estimated 6,000 abandoned mines.
The South African government has taken a hard-line approach to the groups, which have long been a problem for authorities. They are often armed and part of criminal syndicates, the government says, and many are foreigners who entered South Africa illegally from neighboring countries.
The government says they are robbing South Africa of more than $1 billion a year in gold.
Authorities said that more than 1,500 people have been arrested for mining illegally in the Stilfontein area over the last year, with the vast majority of them from Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Lesotho.

Zakes Mokae (August 5, 1934 - September 11, 2009) was born in Johannesburg, South Africa, he was a jazz saxophonist. Moving to England in 1961, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and became one of the most distinguished thespians in South Africa for over two decades.
He was one of the few actors capable of crossing the divided racial sections, punctuated by his collaborations with white writer Athol Fugard. Together they founded the radical theater group The Rehearsal Room in the 50s that specifically dealt with his country’s injustices. In fact, over the years his performances in “The Blood Knot,” “Boesman and Lena,” “A Lesson from Aloes” and “Master Harold...and the Boys,” have been universally applauded.
He fled the racist apartheid policies in South Africa in 1969 and migrated to America, winning a Tony award in 1982 for “Master Harold...” and proceeded to perform in American films, including A Dry White Season (1989), A Rage in Harlem (1991) and Waterworld (1995). TV appearances included strong appearances on such programs as “Law & Order,” “Dream On,” “Oz,” “X-Files,” “The West Wing” and “Monk.”
He moved to Las Vegas and served as artistic director for the Nevada Shakespeare Company. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence

District 9 (2009)
Film review #619
Director: Neill Blomkamp
SYNOPSIS: 28 years after an alien ship arrived on Earth hovering over Johannesburg, the alien inhabitants are confined to a section of the city known as "District 9." When the decision is made to "relocate them (forcibly) into a new camp outside of the city, Wikus van de Merwe is put in charge of leading the relocation, but when he is exposed to a strange substance, he finds himself slowly turning into one of the aliens, and is confined to be experimented upon. When he escapes, he seeks the only place where no one will look: district 9...
THOUGHTS/ANALYSIS: District 9 is a 2009 sci-fi film. 28 years after a spacecraft arrives to Earth, stopping to hover directly over Johannesburg. The alien inhabitants were cut free and settled in a sealed-off region of the city known as "District 9." Now, after resentment has grown by humans for the "prawns" living in the city, seeing them as responsible for crime and costly, the government has decided to relocate them to a camp outside of the city, and hired weapons company Multinational united (MNU) to oversee the relocation. The head of the company chooses his son-in-law Wikus van de Merwe to oversee the operation, and they begin the task of delivering notices of eviction to the residents (and relocating them whether they agree or not). Wikus is exposed to a strange substance that slowly turns him into a prawn, which leads to him being contained and used for experiments (particularly in using the alien's weaponry which only they can use). The film's method of storytelling and giving the backdrop to the film through reports, interviews and documentary footage is a bit chaotic but it nevertheless gets the background of what is going on well, and makes it interesting without devolving into just plain exposition. Being set in Johannesburg brings us a setting different from the usual settings of films in New York or Los Angeles, and the location obviously brings up echoes of apartheid with the prawns being fenced off from humans. The film doesn't really lean too much into that though: maybe it's fine with just the setting being enough to offer an analogue between fiction and reality, but it does feel like it's something that should be more of a focal point given the setting, but isn't. There's an element of satire that pervades over proceedings, which complicates things further, but the film is put together in such a way that you don't need to understand all the different levels it is operating on.
The film is at it's best when it offers a raw storytelling, told through all the different types of footage, offering flashes of lore and plot points from all angles that comes together quite nicely. The raw, messiness of the events of the film disrupts a more clean, sterile narrative, and keeps the stakes high. On a negative note, the film does have to fall into very cliché action scenes at points to move things along, which feel very out of place. The scene where Wilke escapes from the lab where he is held makes it seem a bit too easy, given that he was being held under maximum security, he manages to run up some stairs and out into the world with very little issue.
Wilke as a character starts off as a pencil-pusher promoted way beyond his ability, thanks to his Father-in-Law giving him the job (and maybe to take the blame for anything that inevitably goes wrong, the film leaves that open). Wilke seems to have a typical attitude to the alien "prawns," in that he clearly has a negative view of them. His attitude towards them, interestingly, doesn't really change much, even when he is turning into one himself, and he relies on them for help: he is always only thinking about himself. He doesn't really get much of a redemption arc, but he is certainly a victim of humanity, but in a different way to the prawns themselves. It's murky and not clear-cut but I suppose that's what makes it stand out in the sci-fi genre. The prawns themselves are quite convincingly portrayed and brought to life, and though we're not given too much backstory about them, we don't really need it to understand their motives.
Overall, District 9 offers something original enough in the genre, weaving together complex elements and footage to disrupt a typical narrative and brings its messiness to the forefront of the experience, without alienating the viewer. It's chaotic and messy, but clearly intentionally so. There are definitely parts where the film has to resort to more typical filming techniques and narrative points to bridge the gaps, but on the whole it offers enough to make it stand out in the genre, and entertaining enough regardless of how far you wish to dive into the satire and the sub-text of the story.

Essay; Santu Mofokeng, A Fading World

Santu Mofokeng. Easter Sunday Church Service. 1996.
Looking at ‘Easter Sunday Church Service’ you get the sense that Santu Mofokeng is in search of something beyond the visible, only using the visible as a guide to get to the mystical; a smut surrounds the subjects as though carrying a purpose in itself within the space, conversely, the smut seemingly acknowledges the presence of the church goers - a dialogue with the laws of nature known to man, on the other hand, one’s humanity has not quite figured out yet - and so, as without the church goers, the space only exists in and of itself. That is the nature of Santu Mofokeng works, supernatural.
A key tangent to Mr Mofokeng’s work: It wasn’t until wooden furniture renderings not being up to par for companies did kodak develop film that considered the variety of brown shades, even then not of skin tones until the 90s, all the while - it strictly idealised the beauty standard being that of fairer skin and so it is no surprise that we find most Santu Mofokeng images in black and white.
The Drumming, Johannesburg-Soweto Line, From Train Church. 1986.

Train Church. 1986.
My attraction to the geniuses work is how he is able to achieve a sensation in his images without the boredom of conveyance, I find such an attraction at a time when we’re constantly bombarded with images..all of which are pristine, without emotion, only the perfectly fluorescent; all you’re seeing, is all there is to be seen. An article in the ‘New Yorker’ writes on the process of Santu Mofokengs work; “Mofokeng would often use exhausted chemicals to give his photographs an ethereal edge.” Seeing through ideas even after the camera is set down sets about a sense of connection to the works that is metamorphosed, fragile and nostalgic to fleeting moments seeing for the first time since shot.
Santu Mofokeng subject concerns has to do with capturing the intimate moments of the daily lives of black South Africans. Such an intrinsic search for a beauty outside of a system that shun tradition and culture so as to move the black community away from the soul of their being is a search for God. This approach was peculiar for the time as most photographers in South Africa were capturing the grotesque nature of the Apartheid regime.

Soweto. 1987
That world seems to have come to an end now, the search for sensation..in most painting work as well. Nonzuzo Gxekwa, Andile Bhala and Imraan Christian to mention only a few are however still in that realm and it’s beautiful to watch.
Chief More’s Funeral, GaMagopa. 1989.

The US has accused South Africa of supplying arms to Russia in a covert naval operation, escalating a foreign policy crisis for President Cyril Ramaphosa over the country’s ties to the Kremlin and position on the Ukraine war.
Reuben Brigety, US ambassador to South Africa, told local media on Thursday that the US believed weapons and ammunition were loaded on to the Lady R, a Russian vessel under sanctions that docked at Simon’s Town naval dockyard near Cape Town in December.
“Among the things we noted was the docking of the cargo ship . . . which we are confident uploaded weapons and ammunition on to that vessel in Simon’s Town as it made its way back to Russia,” he said, in comments reported by South Africa’s News24. Brigety also said that senior US officials had “profound concerns” about the incident, which “does not suggest to us the actions of a non-aligned country”.
The state department said the US had raised the issue directly with South African officials. Spokesman Vedant Patel said: “The US has serious concerns about the docking of a sanctioned Russian cargo vessel at a South African naval port in December of last year.”
“We have been quite clear and have not parsed words about any country taking steps to support Russia’s illegal and brutal war in Ukraine,” he added, “and we will continue to engage with partners and countries on this topic.”
Ramaphosa’s office responded by saying an independent inquiry would be set up under a retired judge to look into the allegations. It also said talks had been held between South African and US officials over the vessel and an agreement to allow investigations to continue. “It is therefore disappointing that the US ambassador has adopted a counter-productive public position that undermines the understanding reached on the matter and the very positive and constructive engagements between the two delegations,”
Ramaphosa’s office said in a statement. US anger highlights the mounting tensions between the west and countries that have refused to condemn Russia over the war or join sanctions efforts. Like South Africa, India has continued to regard Russia as a friendly nation and western diplomats have struggled to convince developing nations across Africa and Asia to back Ukraine.
Brigety also criticised a resolution from the ruling African National Congress, which said “the US provoked the war with Russia over Ukraine”. John Steenhuisen, leader of South Africa’s main opposition Democratic Alliance, called for an urgent parliamentary debate on South Africa’s involvement with Russia, and said that the US claim “brings into question the transparency” of the ANC.
The rand dropped 2 per cent to R19.20 to the US dollar after Brigety’s comments, its weakest level since April 2020. South Africa has said it is non-aligned in the war, but Ramaphosa’s government is under pressure over signs it is favouring Russia, for example by holding joint naval exercises this year.
Ramaphosa has also extended an invitation for Russian president Vladimir Putin to attend a Brics leaders’ summit in Johannesburg in August — a move that has backfired on Pretoria after the International Criminal Court indicted Putin for war crimes. South Africa, a member of the ICC, would be legally obliged to arrest Putin if he travels there. Recommended News in-depthSouth Africa
Ramaphosa’s ICC gaffe underscores S African quandary over Putin invite Vladimir Putin and Cyril Ramaphosa Sydney Mufamadi, Ramaphosa’s national security adviser, recently visited the US to explain South Africa’s stance and to try to preserve trade links. The scandal over the Lady R is likely to overshadow these efforts. The Lady R, which is owned by Transmorflot, a company placed under sanctions by the US last year, appeared to switch off its transponder as it made the stop in Cape Town after a voyage down the west coast of Africa.
South Africa’s defence minister said that, after the ship left port, it had delivered a consignment for the country’s defence forces, but provided no details on what the vessel may have picked up in Cape Town.
The South African government in January officially denied it had approved any arms sales from South Africa to Russia since Moscow began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Affordable Car Delivery Services in South Africa: What You Need to Know
Transporting a car across South Africa doesn't have to be costly or complicated. Whether moving to a new city, selling a vehicle, or purchasing a car online, affordable car delivery services make it easy and budget-friendly to get your vehicle where it needs to be. This article explores the options available for cost-effective car delivery in South Africa and provides tips for finding a reliable service without breaking the bank.
Why Choose Car Delivery Services?
Car delivery services simplify the logistics of moving a vehicle over long distances, saving time and potential wear on the car. By opting for a professional delivery service, you avoid the stress of long road trips, reduce fuel and accommodation costs, and ensure your car arrives safely and securely.
Options for Affordable Car Delivery in South Africa
Depot-to-Depot Delivery This budget-friendly option allows you to drop off and pick up your vehicle at designated depots. By consolidating routes, companies can reduce delivery costs, making depot-to-depot delivery an affordable solution, especially for long-distance moves.
Open Carrier Transport Transporting your vehicle on an open carrier is one of the most affordable methods. While it doesn't offer the enclosed protection of a closed carrier, it's an excellent option for standard vehicles. Open carriers can transport multiple cars simultaneously, reducing costs by sharing the load across multiple clients.
Door-to-Door Service Although slightly more expensive, door-to-door car delivery is still an affordable option in South Africa. This service provides added convenience by picking up and dropping off your car at specified locations, making it ideal for busy clients who need maximum flexibility.
Shared Transport Routes Many car delivery providers offer shared transport routes, where multiple vehicles headed in the same direction share a carrier. This service lowers individual costs by pooling resources and is commonly available between major cities such as Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria.
Tips for Finding Affordable Car Delivery Services in South Africa
Compare Quotes Prices can vary significantly among car delivery providers. Contact multiple companies and request detailed quotes to compare their rates, included services, and any potential hidden fees.
Choose Flexible Delivery Times If you’re not in a rush, opting for flexible delivery dates can reduce costs. Many companies offer lower rates during off-peak times when demand is lower, making it more affordable to move your vehicle.
Look for Promotions or Discounts Some car delivery companies run seasonal promotions or offer discounts for first-time clients or bulk deliveries. Don’t hesitate to ask about any ongoing promotions that could help save on delivery costs.
Consider a Reputable Local Company Established local companies often offer competitive pricing and understand the unique needs of South African routes and regulations. Check online reviews to ensure the provider has a solid reputation for reliability and transparency.
Ensure Proper Insurance Coverage Affordable service doesn’t mean you should compromise on protection. Verify that the provider’s insurance covers your vehicle during transit. Comprehensive coverage provides peace of mind and prevents unexpected costs should an incident occur.
What to Expect from a Quality Car Delivery Service
Timely and Transparent Communication Reliable companies provide timely updates and keep you informed throughout the delivery process, so you know exactly when to expect your vehicle.
Professional Handling Look for providers that specialize in handling vehicles with care. A trusted company will have trained drivers who understand vehicle transport and ensure your car arrives in the same condition it was collected.
Clear and Fair Pricing Quality delivery services are upfront about their costs and won’t surprise you with hidden fees. A clear quote should detail all expenses, including insurance, delivery fees, and any additional services.
Preparing Your Vehicle for Delivery
Clean the Vehicle and Document Its Condition Before handing over your car, clean it and take photos of its current condition. Documenting any existing damage will help with claims if any issues arise during transport.
Remove Personal Belongings Car delivery services typically do not cover personal items left inside the vehicle, and extra weight may add to the cost. Empty the vehicle of personal items for a smoother, cost-effective transport.
Perform Basic Maintenance Check fluid levels, battery charge, and tire pressure before transport. Ensuring your car is in good shape prevents issues during transit and makes pick-up faster and easier.
Disable Alarms Avoid unnecessary disturbances by disabling any alarm systems before the car is picked up for delivery.

Conclusion
Affordable car delivery services in South Africa offer a safe, convenient, and cost-effective way to move vehicles across the country. By exploring options like depot-to-depot delivery, open carriers, and shared routes, you can keep costs down while enjoying professional and secure transportation. When choosing a provider, look for transparency, good reviews, and flexible services to make the most of your budget.
With the right choice, you can have peace of mind knowing your car is in good hands and on its way to your destination safely and affordably.

HONOR Underscores Commitment to Open Collaboration at MWC Barcelona 2025
In two engaging discussions, HONOR sheds light on the envisioned future that the HONOR ALPHA PLAN will achieve
James Li, CEO of HONOR
Johannesburg, 5 March 2025 — At MWC Barcelona 2025, global technology brand HONOR participated in two insightful discussions on Monday, 03 March, the Connect X Fireside Chat and the AI+ panel discussion, joining representatives from industry leading partners to share insights into the connected intelligent future.
Among the numerous topics HONOR and its partners discussed, the common theme was clear: The need for open collaboration to address the challenges and opportunities brought by AI technology is greater than ever before. This is echoed by the recently unveiled HONOR ALPHA PLAN. In executing the new corporate strategy, HONOR will work together with partners to maximise human potential to embrace an intelligent world.
“As we move into the physical AI era, we need to open our industry boundaries and co-create a new paradigm for the AI ecosystem. This can be done by opening the industry’s AI capabilities to provide a platform for a wider range of devices, enabling seamless collaboration across different operating systems, and building a value-sharing ecosystem,” said James Li, CEO of HONOR during the keynote announcing the HONOR ALPHA PLAN. This is why all of us need to work together to maximise human potential to embrace an intelligent world.”
Building Intelligent Ecosystems Beyond Raw Connectivity
During the fireside chat, the central theme of the discussion was the evolution beyond raw connectivity to create intelligent ecosystems that proactively address user needs. HONOR shared a vision where technology anticipates and simplifies daily tasks, sharing examples such as smartphones seamlessly connecting to vehicles and homes, and wearables providing personalised health insights. This vision is brought to life through the HONOR ALPHA PLAN, underscoring the company’s commitment to delivering innovations with human-centric design that combine cutting-edge technology, transforming productivity, society, and culture like never before.
Driving AI Connectivity and Innovation Through Collaboration
The fireside chat also highlighted the critical role of industry collaboration in driving innovation and ensuring interoperability. Recognising the need for collaboration in standards setting, HONOR has consistently promoted open collaboration with key industry leaders to develop unified AI connectivity standards and solutions.
As AI technology evolves, ushering in the physical AI era and beyond, a united effort to co-create an open, intelligent ecosystem will become increasingly important as more industry players navigate the complexities of the evolving technological landscape.
Maintaining a Strong Emphasis on On-device Technology
At the AI+ panel discussion, HONOR shared insights into the balance between on-device and cloud-based AI, reiterating the importance of clearly distinguishing the roles. Using the world’s first GUI-based mobile AI agent, the all-ecosystem exchange technology and AiMAGE as examples — all featured at the recent HONOR keynote address — HONOR provided tangible evidence of how it has been prioritising user privacy with on-device processes, while smartly leveraging the cloud for its vast computing resources without compromising on data security.
HONOR’s stance on prioritising user privacy was further reinforced with the recently published Privacy Protection White Paper, which was referenced during the panel discussion. The white paper details five principles that the company will adhere to as it protects user data: data minimisation; sensitive data on-device protection; on-device processing first; data desensitisation and encryption before uploading to cloud; and data deletion after use.
HONOR also reiterated the importance of opening up boundaries for the intelligent future, calling on industry partners to unite together. The company will remain steadfast in executing the HONOR ALPHA PLAN, working together with industry partners in open collaboration as it takes one step at a time to maximise the human potential for the new intelligent future.
Ends.
