I need to know on a primal level what Ray Akaba's like in the Kansas AU and how miserable her and Zarc's situationship was. Please spill the tea.
OH YOU KNOW IT'S A MESS IN THERE. ABSOLUTELY RADIOACTIVE. MOUNTAIN GOATS DISCOGRAPHY-ASS SITUATIONSHIP.
Tumblr media
ray and zarc in beautiful Not-Lawrence Kansas....it's like. theyve been together (""""together."""" i feel like they 'break up for good' and then hook up again 17 times a year at minimum) since they were in high school and they are both just mildly-to-moderately insufferable people. Couple that smokes in the car together and gets into big nasty fights in public. They can't stand each other. They break up and miss each other so atrociously badly. They make out sloppy style. They light up each other's day (this is not good for them or literally anyone else around them.) They're like this, to me:
Tumblr media
Ray's two years older (35 to Zarc's 33) and is really just like. I Am 30 or 40 Years Old and I Do Not Need This at this point in her life. she's so fucking tired. she's a manager at a Ross Dress For Less. She's some kind of bigender and he'll change pronouns during sex specifically to send Zarc into a shrieking "IM NOT GAY! IM NOT GAY!!!" manchild meltdown. She's Leo's kid from his first marriage and their relationship is presumably disastrous (least of all since Leo is currently 'fleeing the country' for 'bankrolling a conservative war cult masquerading as a summer camp'.) I feel like she does/did a bunch of stuff specifically to rebel against him, like getting her sick tattoo (Zarc thinks said tattoo is, "kinda hot" also -__-)
Ray and Declan have a tentatively alright relationship, but when she stops by there's a 60% chance Zarc's with her which is really going to make the entire encounter, in Declan's words, "needlessly exhausting." I was gonna say she gets along alright with Riley but what I really think is happening is Riley (who's like, 11-12ish in this AU) quietly thinks Ray is the Cool Adult Nonbinary Secret Sibling and Ray mostly just uses that to get Riley to do things for her. 🥴 Ray Akaba a little bit of a pushy control freak but you didn't hear it from me 🥴🥴🥴 (though of course when ZARC pushes YUYA around oh well then she'll climb down zarc's throat about it. hypocrisy queen <3)
The bracelet girls are all unrelated in this AU so Ray doesn't have much knowledge/connection to any of them, except for Celina a little bit (she's his cousin.) Probably for the best considering the toxic relationship spores Ray and Zarc are perpetually emitting into the atmosphere!!!
anyway tl;dr Ray's just as much of a loser as Zarc is, morep ut together and responsible certainly, but petty and arrogant and stubborn all the same. I like her very much :^)

part 23748234182942932 of me spriting things for something that's never going to exist (i don't know how to code)
(more info under cut bc my thoughts were so long i didnt wanna bloat the tags)
so i had the stupid idea to write the "deltarune" and "undertale" logos in each others fonts, and then it spawned this whole other idea of an au game of deltarune characters in the undertale premise.
it would take place around the same time as the actual deltarune, just a couple years in the future (so still the 2000's) meaning humans don't have mages anymore, so rather than being sealed underground the monsters just seek refuge inside the mountain. though, this time the monsters do actually have magic, otherwise the battles wouldn't work :P.
since they were just living in a town, i imagine the monsters don't have a king, but since asgore was the police chief he'd probably be the "leader" of the underground since hes still an authority figure, and the royal guards would just be other characters on the force.
of course because this is DELTARUNE, there's going to be a ton of dark world stuff incorporated into it. i only sprited jevil and spamton (because i Love Them but i think everyone who's been seeing my art recently can tell that), but i plan on adding more darkners X) i just have to really consider who, i don't think ralsei will be here >_> i love him but i'm not sure how it would work since yknow... boss monsters. plus spade king and queen will probably be ruled out because there's no monarchy in this version of the underground.
actually going back to spamton, my idea was that he could take the place of mettaton, since mettaton doesn't have a robot form and alphys isn't a scientist, the idea was that he was a virus noelle accidentally "created" by clicking on a spam link that became self aware. she combined a chair with a monitor to give him a body, because he was trying to take over her home PC lol, but he doesn't have any of the features mettaton had in UT. also yeah he's gonna be in the spamton neo body, probably in genocide, or maybe for EX. idk yet. yeah this is all just a big reference to the fact that mettaton created the spamton neo body in deltarune LMAO. as for jevil... hes, uh... hes there! i don't know what i'm gonna do with him yet.
that's the most i'm willing to share at the moment X) don't get your hopes up though because the possibility of this becoming a real game is 0.0000001%. Coding is a nightmare and i genuinely can't wrap my head around it so that's never gonna happen! but to whoever is reading this i hope you find the concept at least a little bit interesting :]

—UNDERLYING—
———————————————————————— an abandoned UT AU!
this never really got off the ground but i’d like to put it out there in hopes to gain the motivation to finish it!!
the last draft i had of this au stopped at waterfall, so that’s as far as most of this info goes
this isn’t really an in-depth look at this au, just a random thought i had a couple years ago and am now sharing with you
enjoy!
————————————————————————
—THE BEGINNING—
after the tragic death of the king & queen’s children and the massacre of human soldiers in the flower fields of the village, humankind cry out in rage, seeking vengeance.
they attack monster-kind, chasing them out of their homes and killing any they could get their hands on. the king and queen gather those they could, instructing them to run for the mountains to seek shelter from the waves of arrows headed their way.
after tirelessly running for hours up the steep slopes and rocky hills of Mt. Ebott, the refugees find a large gaping hole in the forest floor.
they decide to carefully make their way inside….
————————————————————————
—MAGIC IN UNDERYLING—
((i don’t believe the magic in this au is consistent with actual undertale magic, so please keep that in mind!))
the entirety of the Underground relies on magic to keep it stable. due to the lack of magic usage in Underlying, the Underground struggles to maintain itself and slowly dies trying to support the many mouths of the monster population.
things like dead flora and a lack of flowing water are a common sight down here.
————————————————————————
the lack of magic usage stems from the fear that it will attract the unwanted attention of humans to the refugees hiding in the mountains. it’s only used if necessary, mainly being to execute a human.
humans that are found outside the ruins are taken to the king, where he will execute them and store their souls away.
the souls are planned to be used to help start a revolution, one where monsters will have enough magic to take over the surface world and seal the humans underground.
————————————————————————
they rely heavily upon the garbage that ends up in waterfall, making it a place of importance. Royal Guards are more frequent in this area to prevent valuables from being hoarded.
those valuables being fabric, tools, food, electronics, and modern media (books/magazines).
the monsters are not sealed underground due to their whereabouts never being confirmed. this allows them to leave to gather supplies whenever there is not enough in the Underground. this is not a common occurrence as the risk of being spotted is very likely. Royal Guards are the only ones permitted to complete this task.
————————————————————————
when a human comes through, the underground goes into a sort of “lockdown mode”. the streets goes empty, with everyone locking themselves inside their homes or seeking a refuge. Grillby’s is a popular spot, offering good food and lots of company.
————————————————————————
—CHARACTERS—
[[keep in mind that this art is more than a year old and the designs are in need of updating]]
many of the monsters in the underground have become very anxious as a result of their living situation, making it hard to talk to the humans who find themselves trapped underground.
they eventually warm up to frisk, but not after a long talk and multiple attempts to kill them…
————————————————————————
—THE KIDS—
Tumblr media
-Chara-
ran away from the village after finding out about the acts of violence committed against monsterkind
they/them
liked to mess with Asriel (lots of poking fun at him or just general shenanigans)
still ate the buttercups to have Asriel absorb their soul, but took control against Asriel’s will and killed the soldiers who tried to keep him away from the village as he carried their body. this is what resulted in the war against monsters.
-Frisk-
came to the mountain after hearing the rumors of monsters being spotted in the mountains came about
they/them
nonverbal (uses sign language)
tries their best to make their pure intentions clear, has a bit of trouble getting anyone to listen…
-Asriel-
was hesitant to accept Chara’s deal, but knew it could have the chance to restore humanity’s view on monsters if done right
he/him
loved the sky and baking. his favorite thing in the world was getting to see rainbows after a storm
-Monster Kid-
more cautious and less trusting (still believes in the best-case scenario)
they/them
they’ve gotten better at balancing with carrying that large sack around!
—THE ROYALS—
Tumblr media
-Toriel-
has lost her fear of using magic due to her experiences with the fallen children
she/they
faded scars from the battle
the ruins are very botanical thanks to her avid magic usage. she has a very beautiful garden
-Flowey-
has a hard time using magic
they/it
hasn’t fully died due to the experiments, but can’t move around as quickly as they usually can
doesn’t interact with Frisk when they first fall down. later speaks to them in Waterfall
-Asgore-
has trouble seeing (partially blind)
he/him
active in the community, always making sure there is enough supplies for those who need it
—THE SKELETONS—
Tumblr media
-Sans-
used to running
he/him
the more anxious of the two, always trying to keep Pap away from the Ruins
uses his outfit for camouflage in the dead foliage (to be updated..)
main color is orange instead of blue (Bravery)
-Papyrus-
not quick enough
they/he/she
huge nerd for video games
has had his scarf since he was a kid, it’s his favorite thing to wear
after a tip off from someone in the Ruins, Sans warns the townsfolk of Snowdin to hide.
his brother, however, can’t help but try and get to know the fallen human.
at the edge of Snowdin, she tries to convince Frisk to follow him to Asgore, but he mysteriously disappears in the blink of an eye before a single word gets out.
frisk makes their way into Waterfall with nothing but a couple of crackers and a plastic fork.
who knows what’s waiting for them along this path…….
————————————————————————
oh
that’s all i’ve got
it’s nothing impressive but i thought the designs were quite cute
thanks for reading! ;] let me know what you think
no promises that this makes a comeback

The monsters have to go back under the Mountain but with your AU skeletons?
I hoped someone would ask! So much angst potential. I love to see you all cry. The first part is here, with all the UT characters.
Tumblr media
Underswap Sans - He's angry, but he can't show it. Queen Toriel asked all royal guards to stay professional and watch over monsters. Blue is holding back, and takes care of the others instead, trying to light the mood and help those who have bad ideas. He is loyal to Toriel, and will do his best after that with Alphys to keep everyone safe. He's promoted Captain of the Royal Guard a few months later to thank him for his dedication. He is still very sour about all of this though.
Underswap Papyrus - He won't say anything until he goes home, in Snowdin, then he collapses in his old bed and cries for days, not wanting to do anything else. Blue won't let him fall down though and will find him a place in the new orphanage that opened after lots of children lost their parents in the fights. With children to occupy his mind, he will slowly get better. Though, it will never be the same and he's not happy at all.
Underfell Sans - He doesn't hesitate one second after the announcement. He went out and start to kill humans. He got shot down by soldiers. Red would rather die than going back to hell, and that's exactly what he did. He doesn't want to see a new war.
Underfell Papyrus - Red is dead, most of monsters are dead actually, since no one wanted to go back. Edge hesitated between joining Undyne, who declared war on the humans, and flee the country. He doesn't want to fight, but he refuses to let Undyne sacrifice alone. He knows that either he goes back Underground, fights or leave, he won't survive for more than a month with everyone, monsters and humans, wanting to kill him. So he joined Undyne and fight for several months. Only him and Undyne survived after the battle, and, cornered, they chose to kill each other before the humans did, so they can't have the pleasure to see them weak.
Horrortale Sans - He followed everyone, but he's confused. Why is everyone going back inside the Mountain? Nor Willow, nor Toriel are saying anything, and he's starting to panick. When he realises they're going back for real, no one managed to stop him before he jumps on the human soldiers and make a carnage. He's executed right in front of his friends and his brother's eyes, who couldn't do anything to stop him. Oak was too far gone at this point to even notice anything.
Horrortale Papyrus - With Toriel, he tries to organise things, but there's still no food Underground. Monsters lose all hope in a matter of weeks and start to fall down, one after the other. Willow wanted to authorize humans hunt again, but it was way too late, as Toriel died a few days later, unable to murder a child. Willow is the last of his kind, and he will watch over the Underground until he's too weak himself to do it. In two months, monsters reached extinction.
Horrorfell Sans and Papyrus - Monsters refused, but instead of fighting, hid and find a way to leave the country. As the leaders of their people, Copper and Chief are leading the way, closer than ever. They are determined to save everyone, even if not anyone will make it. They managed to survive long enough on a boat for people to notice them and welcome them in their country. They are exhausted, but alive, and Copper and Chief are even more considered as heroes.
Horrorswap Sans - He tries to escape the country with his brother, but Pumpkin got caught near the frontier. Most of monsters are safe now, but Nugget can't give up on him and goes back. He will never reach him, killed before he could reach the prison, and this will haunt him in his last moments.
Horrorswap Papyrus - He got caught and imprisonned again. Pumpkin is used as some kind of pet by the humans. He can't talk and he's too scared to do anything. Humans showed him like some sort of clever monkey on TV for months before some humans broke his prison and got him out of here. With their kindness, he is slowly healing, but it will take a long time for him to recover. He still wants to find his brother, but so far, no one found him.
Swapfell Sans - He's still protected by Toriel and he stays attached to this idea as he goes back into hell. It can't be worse than before, right? And eventually, their leader will change. Humans don't live that long. He goes back to his job, but not even a few days later, his past caught him back and all he found home was Rus' dust arranged into a smiling figure. Nox dissociates entirely from who he was before and becomes only a cold blood killer after that, seeking to get revenge for his brother. He will track and murder all of his rivals, their family and their descendance, erase them from this world.
Swapfell Papyrus - He followed his brother without a choice, even if he knew it was a bad idea. He tried to go back to his old routines, but Rus forgot he had to watch his back day and night, and got surprised by his brother's rivals in his sleep. They tortured him and let him to dust all alone. Maybe it's for the best. He was sick of this world anyway.
Outertale Sans - Oh well. He misses his old rock anyway. He doesn't care that much. Humans don't just lose monsters, but their technology too, their food productions included. Moon watched them crawl back to them a few months later with a morbid fascination and laughed at them, as the first monster they crossed. He kills them as a revenge. Humanity sank into famine.
Outertale Papyrus - He's disgusted by his brother's growing hate for humans and leave. He won't say him he finds Frisk and that he's raising them with Toriel far from him, hiding on another planet.
Disbelief Papyrus - Well, there's only Asgore and him now, and a dozen monsters. Asgore just negociates an escape door and they find a new house in another country, peacefully. They don't care about the land as long as they have each other.
Dustale Sans - Lol, you want what now? Man, this guy did a genocide all alone, you think that's going to stop him? Humanity just lost its living priviledge. Everyone crossing his way will die.

February Contest Submission #12: Lyfjaberg
Words: ca. 4,500 Setting: Canon AU Lemon: no Content: Mental health issues (Elsa), Norse mythology Song: Lyfjaberg by Wardruna
Ut in ditt indre ventar bratt ein sti
Høgt der på Lyvjarnut stend møyar ni
Elsa sighed out of relief as the mountain her dream had shown her finally came into view.
She currently found herself at the foot of said mountain, a valley full of pine trees, the ground covered here and there with patches of snow. Their branches gently swayed in the wind while an owl hooted in the distance.
The mountain itself was imposing. It’s sharp rocky surface, which was fully covered in snow, made it look like it was extremely difficult to climb. However, on the bright side, she could see a very small hardened trail that covered at least a part of the massif before her.
If it were under any other circumstance, Elsa would have marveled at nature’s beauty and would have taken her time to soak it all in.
However, she wasn’t here for some sightseeing.
She sadly looked down at the frozen form of her sister clutched in her arms. Gazing at Anna’s unmoving form made her relive the harrowing scene that transpired yesterday.
She remembered how sorrowful she had been when Hans had confronted her, telling her that he was too late to save her sister. She had felt guilt and regret as he had informed her that she had killed her own precious sister.
Tears had been streaming down her face as she had collapsed on the ground, the raging snow storm around her had dissipated in an instant as grief had consumed her.
Mere moments later, a loud and sharp clattering sound had prompted her to momentarily dry her tears and look up. She had seen, out of the corner of her eyes, how Hans had fallen backwards, the pieces of a broken sword scattered around him.
But that hadn’t been what she had focussed on.
As she had laid her eyes on her sister’s frozen form, her heart had broken again. It did not matter that Hans had lied moments earlier, for his words had still become reality.
Her sister had died, frozen solid, by her own magic. In her final act, her sister had chosen to protect her.
“No…No…Anna…” She had whimpered, her hands hovering over Anna’s frozen face. The eyes that had held so much happiness and joy were covered in a thick layer of ice.
Elsa had lost it then, hard sorrowful sobs had racked her entire body as she had flung her arms around her sister’s neck.
Elsa remembered how cold Anna’s body had felt and how, for the first time in her entire life, how much that cold had bothered her.
For it had been, and was still, so wrong for her enthusiastic and kind sister to feel so cold.
What had happened after was still a blur to the Queen. The only thing she could remember was the guards forcefully prying her off her sister’s form and escorting her back to the castle. The rest of the day was still hazy to her, she only knew that she had stayed in her room. Weeping in one moment while angrily lashing out in the other.
She had expected that she wouldn’t be able to sleep that night but, surprisingly, sleep had found her rather easily.
It was the simplicity of the dream she had that night that had been so memorable.
“You’ve found us.” A voice said, ending her daydreaming.
She looked up, unconsciously holding her sister’s frozen form closer to herself as she stared at the woman before her.
It was the same woman who had appeared in her dreams the night before. The same woman who had convinced her to depart on her current journey to bring back her sister.
The woman was clad in a long white robe, the bottom part gently swaying in the wind. Her blonde hair was braided, with the braid resting on her shoulder. The same sympathetic look on her face.
“I did.” Came Elsa’s reply. She still had her doubts about the woman’s credibility but on the other side, Elsa would do anything to bring her sister back so for now, she would trust the woman. “You said you could heal her?”
“Straight to the point, huh?” The woman chuckled softly.
“Obviously.” Elsa frowned. That was not the answer she expected to get. Perhaps, in hindsight, this journey had been a mistake. Perhaps this was all some figment of her imagination to cope with the loss of her sister.
“Oh perish those melancholic thoughts, Elsa. I assure you, I am real.” The woman’s reply startled her. She could read her thoughts?
“How?” The one worded question was the only response Elsa could muster for a while which made the woman chuckle again. “Who are you? What are you?”
“I’m known by many names.” She started, a small amused smile grazing her lips. “But you may call me Eir, I am one of the handmaidens of the Mountain.”
Handmaidens? Did she stumble upon some sort of cult? Perhaps another civilisation that had, unbeknownst to herself and the rest of Arendelle, been living in the Kingdom this entire time?
Eir laughed.
“The existence of my brethren and I is a bit more complicated than that, Queen of Ice, but you aren’t here to learn about us.” In a small gust of wind, the woman before her disappeared. “You are here to save your sister.”
Elsa startled as the voice sounded a lot closer now. Readjusting her grip on her sister’s form, she looked to her right to see Eir curiously studying Anna. Before Elsa could even question how she disappeared and reappeared in the blink of an eye, Eir let her hands gently trace over Anna’s frozen face.
Elsa had no idea what the other woman was doing but assumed she was doing something to bring her sister back. After some time, Eir hummed to herself and looked up towards Elsa with a comforting smile.
“She’s still in there.” That simple statement stunned Elsa.
“She’s still….Alive?” Elsa dared to ask in a pained whisper. Eir nodded.
“She is!” She exclaimed enthusiastically. While Elsa didn’t quite share Eir’s mood, it felt like a huge weight fell off her shoulders. Her sister was still alive. “It’s quite difficult to explain but she’s holding on.” Eir turned towards her and put a comforting hand on her shoulder. “She’s quite the fighter.”
“That she is.” Elsa smiled fondly as she looked down at her sister.
“My brethren and I can help her once you arrive at the top of the Mountain.” Elsa’s face fell at that.
“What? Why can’t you help her now?” It felt as if her new found hope got crushed instantly.
“Because that’s just how the Mountain works, dear.” Eir sounded rueful. “Climb to the top, Quen of Ice, and you and your sister will be reunited once again, I promise you.” Eir stepped away from her, towards the mountain until she turned around again to face Elsa once more. “You can leave your backpack here, you won’t need it. The Mountain will provide for you.” She smiled warm heartedly. “Good luck.” With that, she disappeared in the blink of an eye.
Elsa’s thoughts were a mess after Eir left. She wanted to yell out in frustration and cry out in happiness. The most important part was, however, that her sister could be saved.
Carefully setting Anna down for a moment so she could shrug off her little knapsack with food in it. She had brought it along when she had departed this morning to make sure she had enough food for her journey but she decided to trust Eir’s word and leave it.
Elsa gathered Anna back in her arms. Granted, carrying her frozen form around like this was a bit difficult but Elsa didn’t care. With determined steps, she started towards the trail that would lead her up the mountain.
It indeed was a difficult climb. The hardened path snaked between outcrops of sharp rock formations and was in some areas very steep. From time to time, she had to pause, not only to catch her breath, but also to readjust her grip on the frozen form of her sister.
As she made steady but rather slow progress, she let her thoughts wander. Of course, due to lack of conversation or anything else to keep her occupied, those thoughts turned out to be rather dark in nature.
She blamed herself for this entire fiasco. Even now, as she was climbing the mountain, Arendelle was still covered in a layer of snow. Her own sister had become victim to her destructive powers and only illustrated that her parents had been correct all along.
It was a foolish thought of her to think she could have anything that resembled a normal life. She was a danger to everyone around her. Even if this trip resulted in success and her sister was revived, how could she ever go back to her Kingdom? Her people feared her, saw her as nothing more than the cursed woman she was.
Perhaps Anna had been wrong in saving her from Hans’ sword. Perhaps it would have been better for everyone involved if she had died so they could be freed from the storm that rages inside her.
“Don’t think like that, dear.” A very soft, almost motherly voice sounded from up ahead, blocking the path forward.
Elsa looked up, not realizing she had unconsciously gazed at the frozen figure in her arms as her thoughts had consumed her.
Before her stood, at first glance, a young woman, even though Elsa could see the lines denoting a more mature age in her visage. She was wearing the same white robe as Eir and had auburn hair that reached a little beyond her shoulders.
At first, Elsa wanted to ask what she was talking about. It was an automated response from her. Years of isolation made sure that Elsa kept everything related to emotions and feelings tightly locked up. Conceal. Don’t Feel. The mantra her parents had taught her after Anna’s head incident had been ingrained on her very person.
Most days she felt like a puppet. A construction molded from her parent’s teachings. Fake smiles, fake laughs, fake interests. Sometimes she wondered if there even was a real Elsa to begin with.
She doubted it.
The fake masks she wore, even in her rather short reign as queen so far, seemed like the only reality she knew and would ever know.
Depressing thoughts, perhaps, but it had been her reality ever since she had been a little girl.
“That is where the problem lies, my dear.” The soft voice spoke again. This woman could hear her thoughts, just like Eir. That meant she was most likely also a handmaiden. The stranger smiled.
“That is correct.”
Elsa sighed. The idea that someone could read her thoughts and emotions like that, discover her deepest secrets didn’t sit well with her at all.
“Don’t worry, dear, everything I see and hear, everything we will speak of will never leave this mountain.” The woman offered a reassuring smile, it did nothing to help her uneasiness though.
“Are you here to check up on Anna again?” She inquired, the woman shook her head.
“I am not, my dear, I am here for you.” Elsa frowned.
“For me? Why? I’m not hurt, I’m perfectly fine.” Even she herself could hear the rather defensive tone of her own voice.
“Not all wounds are physical in nature, Elsa, I’m sure you know that.” Elsa tensed.
“Who are you?” Elsa asked. The woman’s brow shot up in question, no doubt noticing her deflection.
“I am Blith and, as you guessed before, I am a handmaiden of this mountain.” She smiled pleasantly again.
“Well, Blith, it was nice meeting you but I need to get going now. I need to reach the top as soon as possible.” Elsa greeted politely before she tightened her hold on Anna’s form and pushed past the handmaiden.
“This is as much your journey of healing as it is your sister’s, Queen of Ice.” Elsa had only made it a few paces behind her and froze as she heard it.
“What does that even mean?”
“It means, Elsa, that you need to stop running away from your fears.” Came the simple reply that angered Elsa more than it probably should have. After all, Hlif was right but, at that moment, Elsa didn’t really care.
She, carefully, put Anna’s frozen form down, making sure it was sturdy and in no danger of falling over before she turned around and stalked towards the older woman.
“You have no idea what you are talking about.” She gritted out. Blith’s eyebrow rose again, totally unfazed by her sudden anger.
“Oh I don’t?” She started in an equal sarcastic and chiding tone. It kind of reminded Elsa of her own mother chastising her if she had done something wrong. “When your powers were revealed to your people during that ball you ran away out of fear of what the people would say. You ran away, leaving your kingdom without a leader and plunging it into eternal winter before locking yourself away in the mountains. And then, when your sister found you and informed you of the situation, you let your fear take over once more, pushing away the very person that tried to help you.” She nodded towards the frozen statue behind her. Elsa hung her head in shame, her anger disappearing like snow on a sunny day for Blith was right.
She felt a hand on her shoulder and looked into forest green eyes.
“You are not to blame, you know.” Blith started softly, her tone returned to the warmth it had radiated before. “You have been taught almost your entire life that your powers were a curse, that they needed to be hidden, that they should be feared.” Elsa swallowed at the intensity of Blith’s gaze.
“I am here to tell you, dear, that everything you have been taught is wrong.” Elsa’s eyes widened at that. She wanted to protest, to tell the handmaiden she was wrong. Her powers were dangerous but she silenced her before she could utter a single word. “They aren’t a curse, far from it, they are a precious gift that could do so much good.” Elsa shook her head in defiance.
“They aren’t.” She whispered, not believing what she was hearing. How could anyone think that?
“Just think about all the things you could do, Elsa.” Both of Blith’s hands were now squeezing Elsa’s shoulders in a comforting manner. As if the handmaiden tried to squeeze all of Elsa’s doubts and fears out of her. “You could provide permanent shelter for the poor and homeless by constructing buildings from ice and snow. You could spare a mother’s heartbreak by employing snow constructs as soldiers instead of real men. You could transform the biggest smile on a child’s face by entertaining it with even the simplest of tricks.”
Elsa’s eyes widened. She had never thought about her powers like that. Could they truly be utilized like that?
“Of course they could, Elsa. The possibilities are truly endless!” She said. “Granted, It would require quite a bit of training but I am certain you could achieve all of that and so much more.”
Elsa was still in awe, eyes wide and mouth slightly agape. Blith chuckled lightly.
“The most important part is that you let go of this fear, Elsa.” Blith used her thumb to wipe away a single tear that had rolled down her cheek.
“How?” Elsa’s voice was so small, so fragile, that she barely recognised it as her own.
“By stopping to pretend you’re someone you’re not.” Blith extracted her arms from Elsa’s shoulders and took a graceful step back, giving her an encouraging smile. “Break the strings your parents have suspended you on. Ditch the fake smiles and let your masks fall, Elsa, become the regal Queen I know you to be.” She smirked before continuing. “Become the kind and caring woman and sister that Anna knows is hiding in you.” Elsa blushed lightly.
“And most importantly dear, stop pushing people away.” She emphasized. “don’t be afraid to show and to tell how you really feel.” Elsa felt like there was more to that last statement than it sounded.
And indeed, Blith smirked.
“You should know by now that there is no hiding your feelings from me.” Elsa begged that she wasn’t talking about what she thought she was talking about.
“Why are you so afraid to tell her?” The handmaiden inquired.
“Are you kidding me?” she asked incredulously. “She’s my sister!” She hissed out, as if the very word hurt her.
She never meant to fall in love with her own sister, it had just kind of happened. Even though their parents had separated her, Elsa always made it her mission to ask servants to update her on her sister. However, it hadn’t been until she had seen her seventeenth summer that she had noticed the change.
That year she had noticed that she really wanted to hug Anna close again or that she desperately wanted to taste Anna’s lips on her own. She found it quite difficult to put it even into words but somehow, along the way, her sisterly affections towards Anna had morphed into more romantic ones.
She had never uttered a word about it to anyone before, of course. She had decided to bury it with all the other things years ago, figuring it was just a phase and that she would get over it.
Well, that proved to be a lie since she was still not over it.
“Why not tell her?” Blith repeated.
“Because there is no way she could ever feel the same and I really do not want to compromise our fragile relationship even more.” Elsa sighed. “And then there is of course the whole issue with us being both women and sisters.” She added sarcastically.
“I do not see why the latter would be a problem.” Blith calmly stated. “What’s between your or your partner’s legs has little relevance. Love is love Elsa, whether you love a man or a woman, it doesn’t matter.” She shrugged her shoulders. “And while falling for your sister is indeed uncommon, it’s not totally unheard of.”
“Perhaps not to you but imagine what the Arendellan people would say if I announced I was enamored by a woman and my sister at that.” Elsa sighed again. Why was nothing in her life easy?
“Well, love is never easy, my dear, but that’s why it is so valuable once you get it.” Blith’s hands returned once more to squeeze her shoulders encouragely.
“And really, she jumped in front of a blade for you, Elsa, while she knew it would be the last action she would take before being frozen. I say there is a high chance her feelings aren’t purely sisterly affection in nature either.”
“You think so?” Elsa asked, not quite managing to keep the hopeful tone out of her voice.
“I know so, Elsa.” Blith chuckled. “What did I tell you just moments ago?” She asked in mock sternness.
“To stop pushing people away?” Elsa offered a hesitant yet slightly amused smile.
“Indeed, so just tell her.”
After a long silence, Elsa eventually answered.
“I will.”
“That’s a good girl.” Blith beamed, making Elsa chuckle again. Hesitating for a moment, Elsa eventually shot forward, engulfing the handmaiden in a quick hug. Elsa noted that she felt surprisingly warm.
“Thank you for everything, Blith.” She murmured as she put her chin on the older woman’s shoulder. “And I’m sorry for getting angry at you earlier.
Blith patted her back. “You’re quite welcome, dear.” She said in that motherly tone again. “And don’t worry about it, sometimes we all need to let out some anger.”
Elsa extracted herself from the woman’s embrace, a genuine hopeful but happy smile plastered on her face.
“Now off you go, go save your love.” Blith motioned for her to continue her journey with a teasing smirk. Elsa blushed but went back to pick up Anna’s frozen form.
“Thank you once again, Blith!” Elsa called out without turning back as she marched ahead along the hardened trail, ever closing in towards the peak.
Blith smiled at her retreating form, content that she was able to heal the Queen of Ice.
Legg frå deg reidsle, legg di maske ned
Der du er på veg, er dei til ingen nytte
Børa letnar, framom kjem dei tyngste steg
Elsa didn’t know how long she walked after her encounter with Blith. It was really difficult to estimate time so high in the mountains. She did notice however that the air became lighter, making it a bit harder to breathe but still, Elsa soldiered on towards the top.
Eventually, the path became illuminated by standing torches along the side. Not soon after the torches appeared, she arrived at some sort of plateau, where she could see eight figures standing in a circle with a ninth person standing in front of them.
Pressing on, Elsa tightened her grip on her frozen sister even more as the snowy wind picked up. The wind was so strong up here that she wondered just how those torches managed to stay lit.
As she approached the people, she recognised Eir standing in front of the circle and Blith amongst the eight in the circle. Eir smiled as Elsa stopped before her.
“I’m glad to see you here, Queen of Ice.” Eir welcomed her. Previously, Elsa had taken a bit of a discomfort at the nickname she had given her, but now, after her talk with Blith, she found that she didn’t mind it as much as she used to. Elsa smiled. It was progress.
“I see that your mind is far less troubled than when you first arrived.” Eir stated satisfied.
“They are, I had a very good talk with Blith.” A smile tugged the handmaiden’s lip. “You’re welcome.” Blith called out from the background, resulting in all the other handmaidens to chuckle lightly.
“Place Anna in the middle of the circle and join me, the others will see to her recovery.” Eir instructed.
Elsa made her way past Eir, who Elsa believed to be the leader of this group of handmaidens if her earlier position and rather commanding voice was anything to go by. She passed between two other women before gently placing her frozen sister in the middle.
She then retreated back to take her place on Eir’s right side. With a simple nod, Eir instructed for the others to begin.
The eight women started dancing in a circle around Anna. Elsa almost couldn’t believe her eyes as they seemingly melted into the shadows.
Then, they started singing, and Elsa was sure she had never heard such angelic voices before in her life.
“Sott og sår
or marg og bein
or kjøt og blod
or hold og skinn
i vær og vind
ut du svinn”
Their voices were slow but soft and yet held a warmth that could rival the sun. As they sang, Elsa could see some sort of symbols appear on the ground. Symbols she could not read nor recognise. they almost seemed otherworldly in nature.
Her admiration for the scene that played before her was apparently very amusing to Eir.
“Quite the sight, are they not?” She asked, her eyes twinkling.
“They are.”
Once more, Elsa couldn’t tell how much time passed but eventually they stopped singing and dancing and slowly came to a halt again. Elsa looked at Eir beside her but before she could ask her question, Eir nodded for her to go ahead.
Elsa rushed past the handmaidens and gasped as she saw her sister, unfrozen in the middle, slowly stirring as if she had been in a deep sleep.
“Anna.” She said in a whisper, tears of happiness and relief forming in the corner of her eyes.
Anna, hearing her name and no doubt recognising the owner of the voice that said it, blinked the sleep out of her eyes and sat upright. Her eyes widened as her eyes fell on Elsa.
“Elsa.” The princess murmured just as soft as her sister, as if she didn’t quite believe it was all real.
Not being able to contain herself anymore, Elsa shot forward and embraced her sister, burying her face in her fiery red locks.
It was quite a wonder how much that one simple hug conveyed.
“I’m so sor-” Elsa started but was silenced when Anna put a finger on her lips.
“Don’t you dare apologize, Elsa.” She said seriously. “Blith is right, you have lived in fear for far too long, sis.” There was a tenderness in her eyes that melted Elsa’s heart. “From now on, no more closed doors, okay?”  Elsa could only nod as she tried her hardest to not let her emotions get the best of her.
Until a particular part of Anna’s comment made her pause.
“Wait, you heard our conversation?” She asked, a bit panicked. Anna’s eyes twinkled mischievously.
“I did.” Elsa’s eyes widened. That meant that…
“I’m so sor-” Once more her apology got cut off, but now, instead of a finger, it was Anna’s lips silencing her. Elsa quitely gasped in surprise before she closed her eyes and melted into the kiss. Her right hand unconsciously went to caress her sister’s cheek while Anna threw her arms around her neck.
Elsa felt like she was soaring through the sky.
A couple of excited claps broke the tender moment however. Both sisters blushed furiously as they picked themselves off from the floor and stood up. They had forgotten they weren’t alone on the mountaintop.
Elsa could see Blith’s eyes shining with amusement. Eir made her way towards them, passing by two of her fellow maidens and watched both sisters with an amused smile.
“Well it seems you two have a long talk ahead of you.” Both sisters shyly looked at each other before nodding. Indeed, they did.
“Well then I wish you a good journey back towards Arendelle, don’t worry about your descent, the mountain will provide you with everything you need.”
“Thank you, Eir, for saving my life.” Anna bowed gracefully in gratitude. Eir waved her away with a chuckle.
“You’re quite welcome, Princess of Ice, it was a pleasure to help you two.” Eir politely bowed back. “It is always a delight to unite two people in love. I bless you both with a long and happy life together.” Her eyes twinkled mischievously as she continued. “And if the issue of an heir comes up, feel free to make the trip back here, I’m sure Hlif would be delighted to help you.” She winked and while both sisters didn’t fully understand what she meant, they blushed furiously nonetheless.
“Uh, we will, thank you.” Elsa managed to squeak out while Anna merely managed to nod.
After that they bid their farewells and started their descent of the mountain, hand in hand.
Legg den att på Lyvjaberget
Hødgi der åar alle,
buktar støtt seg nord og nedan
Bergar den som berget maktar
From atop the mountain, she looked at how the royal sisters slowly descended their mountain.
“It has been centuries since you last blessed a couple, Frigg. You’ve taken quite a liking to them, haven’t you?” She heard Frith ask next to her.
“I would be lying if I said I haven’t.” The goddess answered honestly.
While she observed the new couple, engaging in playful banter, she found herself smiling. Sure, they needed to have an important talk and yes, it would change their relationship forever and it would be far from easy.
But Frigg believed in them, for it was written in the stars that those two were meant for each other.

Current happenings: N/A TLDR: Vita was born on the surface to religious parents, Killed her first mate who she had been bethrothed to by accident, Eventually met drusil as he was one of the kings guards. Fell in love and spent a few happy years together before the monster v human war struck and drusil was killed a week before they were all sealed underground. Found out she was pregnant with their child and has raised him underground ever since. Hoping for the day they can all return to the surface.
History:
Vita or Vitality as is her full name though she rarely goes by it nor does she like when other people use it as to her it’s needlessly unique and she far prefers just vita, She was born and raised in a small religious oceanic village a few hours from Mount Ebott and grew up under the strict though at the time she thought fair ruling of her parents, Learning the ways of the average house wife so to speak. Cooking, Cleaning, Dress modestly, Avert her eyes when she caught someone’s attention. It led to her being very meek and shy for her early years though very nice to even if her parents often scolded her if they thought she was being a little ‘too’ nice for their liking though it was rare anyone saw that side of her parents, Peachy perfect in public. It was hard not to love them and their only child who dutifully followed their word.
READ MORE BECAUSE DAMN THIS GOT LONG
She was bethrothed to another, A monster named Orinda, Her and his Parents had declared it so, they’d be a perfect match to live and thrive, Have kids and continue on the family legacy and get married she did. Though unfortunately for her, He was a dick behind closed doors, Not that she would have had any choice in the matter whether he was nice or not and though some part of her deep down resented the situation she was in, She’d been raised that she just needed to be better. She just needed to do her best, She just needed to try and everything would be okay. They’d be okay, They’d be a happy little family just like her parents wanted, It wasn’t often that he struck her, So much more was said and it hurt far more then any blow. In some ways, She’s sure she would have never gotten out of there if not for that one, Fateful night. He’d come home angry, swearing and fidgety, She wasn’t sure why, She couldn’t ask. She still cooked dinner for him, Had cleaned up for him, Offered herself to him as she’d been taught. But it wasn’t enough, She wasn’t enough.
He’d struck her, Again and maybe it was a fit of rage or a desire to protect herself but she lashed out with her magic, With her healing magic. At first, he’d laughed yet then he’d spluttered, Bending over and groaning. Oh she’d never forget the way he hacked and coughed, His magic that was a odd tinge of red and orange, Blood orange perhaps? escaped out of him through his mouth. Leaking onto the floor even as she’d ran past him to get help, Help for what she’d done. But by the time she’d returned with someone, Anyone, He was far beyond any help. Only choking out that she’d done this to him before he finally collapsed and dusted.
A murderer, She was a murderer, She’d killed him were what came from the chants of her village. Outrage and outcry that spread, Spread far enough that it reached the city of Ebott and the ears of the king himself. It hadn’t been asgore yet, Rather his father. A huge, dark furred beast of a boss monster that showed up to her tiny little village and even as she quaked in torn clothes, Under the pressure of her entire village’s sheer hatred. Clamed up only by the king’s presence, He offered, No she supposed. Not offered, GAVE her a chance that she couldn’t refuse. Whether she wanted to or not. So with only a nod, She found herself whisked away by the king of monsters and his entourage of guards, She’d never see her family again, She’d made attempts to write but never got anything back so eventually. She stopped trying.
In ebott, She got trained in the ways of being a healer, A true healer with a good control over her power and her further specialization into being a midwife for Monsters, Helping to deliver plenty of children over the years. During her training, She found herself growing close to one of the king’s guards, Drusil, He’d come from a different settlement but they were the same type of monster. Oh he’d been stunning with dark, Almost black skin, His hair blended in!, Golden tinged fins and freckling along his arms and his back. He’d always been so nice to her, So goofy, so friendly and so damn stupid sometimes that it always made her giggle and though hesitant to enter a relationship again, Having to take the time to get past the conditioning her parents had put her through, He waited. It took three years but he’d waited and she eventually accepted.
She’d never been happier, His family had practically adopted her, His parents especially came to see her as a daughter and she considered them her true parents as well. She adored his few little siblings and they had a few happy years together, During this time meeting gaster and Rose to. A rumbling came by word of mouth, Of talks of rising tension and war on the frightened lips of monster kind, Seeding that doubt of worry in her belly despite drusil trying to reassure her. It would never happen, they wouldn’t go to war.
Yet even as the king passed on the throne to his son and his own bethrothed, The talk of war and rising tensions became even more prevalent and soon, War broke out, Many monsters like to say it was a war but to vita, It always seemed more like a all out slaughter. Her mate fought alongside gaster to help protect the new king and his Queen. She was a medic, She healed as best she could, Serving her own part even if she rarely saw action unless it was to protect her patients, Oh how often she’d longed for war to be over then. Longed for it to end and end it did, But not in the way she’d hoped, There’d been talks of a peace treaty a few years in, of monsters surrendering, That it’d be fine. That they’d all make it out. One last night with drusil with the promise on his lips that everything would be fine. It’d all work out...but it didn’t. Drusil, Among many of the kings other guards fell due to stopping a attempted assignation on the king.
Oh goddesses how she’d sobbed, How loud she had wailed, It was only a week after that the big final push came. To lock them underground and forget about monster kind with help of their mages, Oh they’d fought back for certain but they just lost more and more as humans grew only stronger as they gained LOVE. She was injured when a group of them had raided the medical tent, so lost from their own morals that killing the sick and injured didn’t matter to them, Injured in her attempt to save her patients, They were under her care, they couldn’t just kill them! Instead. One of them with a glint of malice she’d never yet truly seen came at her instead she though she fought. Two others held her to cease her struggling and they almost Methodically, Joyfully sliced one of her back fins off. She would have died there if not for someone hearing her screams, of pain and of fear, They’d never been able to a re-attach the ‘wing’, It scattered into dust not long after being cut off and all they could do was bandage what they could so she didn’t bleed out from the injury and helped her towards mount ebott. Still crying and weak, heart broken from all that had occurred.
She along with the remains of monsterkind were sealed below ground with a magic spell, She was numb to all that had occurred in some aspects. Throwing herself into work, Yet her healing wasn’t enough for all the monsters that fell simply do a lack of hope, A lack of supplies. There wasn’t enough food, enough water. It was around the same time that she came to the horrifying and stricken realization that she was pregnant. Oh she had thought about ending it, If the stress from the situations didn’t kill it first but...she couldn’t, She just couldn’t. It was the only bit of Drusil she had left. It was their baby. So despite all odds, She kept her child and almost a year underground (Her species gestates a bit longer then humans 9 months). She eventually gave birth with only the assistance of her surviving friend Gaster to help her, An act that almost killed her, Leaving her fitfully weak for weeks after and a few years until she truly felt 100% like herself again.
She remained a healer in the royal guard as years dragged by, Becoming accustomed to life underground like many others monsters, Focused on raising her son and teaching him to be good. Because even as their civilization stabilized, the monsters grew worse and worse. Far more befitting of their name, Many were angry, Aggressive and even violent, The king was the worst of them all and while she’d looked up to him once upon a time. The decree of collecting human souls was the final straw, She hated him and all that he stood for. She sympathized with toriel and her disappearance yet some part of her hated toriel to for leaving. For letting this lunatic take full control of the kingdom instead of sticking by to help. Yet she would only stew silently because there was nothing more she could do to help then any of the rest of monster kind.
All she hope for is the day they get released from the mountain.

"Ave Maria! Jungfrau mild, erhöre einer jungfrau flehen, aus diesem felsen starr und wild soll mein gebet zu dir hin wehen, zu dir hin wehen. Wir schlafen sicher bis zum morgen, ob menschen noch so grausam sind. O jungfrau, sieh der jungfrau sorgen, o mutter, hör ein bittend kind!"
"Ave Maria! Jungfrau mild,..."
The people of the church never ceased praying since news of the Devil Hunters' demise and the rise of the True Demon reached them.
The innocent people of that country in the west, or what remained of them, all huddled close to the altar, joining the endless prayer vigil with personal prayers of their own, hoping for some kind of a saviour that would come down and rescue them.
Kyrie, who watched over the children, was inside that church.
"Sshh, it's okay." The woman cooed, reassuring them to, at least, keep them calm, for they haven't stopped crying for the last half hour.
And who could blame them? Multiple lasers of destruction were raining down from above, killing hundreds, if not thousands, of people.
Despite her vigilant and reliable façade, Kyrie felt really sick.
She closed her eyes, holding back the tears that threatened to spill. Negative thoughts plagued her mind all day, about the genocide, the inevitable end,...
... the life of her one true love and,...
The screams and noises outside grew louder and louder as the massacre ensued. And, just when the disturbing noises drew closer and closer, the heavy wooden doors of the church burst open, and in came a group of six to eight feet tall gargoyle - like creatures whose mouth and claws were dripping with blood,...
... blood of the people they massacred.
Tumblr media
At the mere sounds of these creatures of darkness, the people of the church made their prayers louder, hands clasped and knees bent.
"Ave Maria! Jungfrau mild, erhöre einer jungfrau - !"
The Demons laughed and howled, mocking the defenseless.
"GOTT IST NICHT HIER!" The tallest and most horrfying of the horde boomed, its voice engulfing the whole room in hopelessness and making the younger ones cry even louder. "PANDÄMONIUM,... IST GEKOMMEN! IHR ALLE WERDET,... STERBEN!"
An old Priest bravely came forward despite his trembling knees, holding up his crucifix in hopes of warding off the Demons.
"Sáncte Michael Archángele, defénde nos in proélio,..."
The enemies fell silent, looking at each other, confused of what's going on. The priest took this as an opportunity to keep praying.
"Cóntra neqúitiam et insídias diáboli - "
One by one, the enemies started laughing at his words, clearly not affected by his prayer.
With sweat running cold and courage slowly diminishing, the poor old Priest went on, "... ésto p - p - præsídium. Ímperet ílli Déus - "
One of the Demons came forward and mockingly uttered the prayer with the frightened Priest. "... SÚPPLICES DEPRECÁMUR: TUQUE, PRÍNCEPS MILÍTIÆ CÆLÊSTIS - "
"SATANAM!" The Demons bellowed in unison, shaking the faith of everyone in the room, including the now crying Priest, who started to urinate involuntarily.
The old one wiped his tears. Despite the Demons' machinations, he went on, still holding his crucifix up high. "... aliósque spíritus malígnos, qui ad perditiónem animárum pervagántur in múndo,..."
One of the Demons bent low, reaching the Priest's face, and howled, spraying his spit on the poor man's face,
"VENITE IGITUR DESCENDAMUS ET CONFUNDAMUS IBI LINGUAM EORUM UT NON AUDIAT UNUSQUISQUE VOCEM PROXIMI SUI!"
The man started weeping, unable to finish his prayer. Then, the Demon grabbed his body with one hand and lifted him off the ground, earning screams and panic from the people.
"LAUF!" The Priest shrieked for the last time as the Demon lifted him. "LAUF!"
Kyrie grabbed the children and ran as fast as she could with them, not once looking back when the Demons started feasting on the Priest and the people nearby. She hid with them, suppressing her tears and hoping for some form of a miracle.
"Nero,..." she muttered, her eyes shut and her arms around the frightened children. "... please,..."
Then, it came: a Demon who found them, its drool dripping, its menacing red eyes looking down at them like they were some meals on a buffet.
"FOUND YOU!"
...
The remains of the Dreadnought finally fell from the sky, its parts crumbled and destroyed.
Nero pushed back some fleshy debris and looked down at the two people he was protecting with his translucent pair of blue wings. He changed back to his mortal form and supported Dante as he allowed himself to collapse on the ground, the dying girl still on his arms.
"We can't do this! We're all gonna die here!" The youth barked, unable to accept Dante's condition. The wound he received from Vergil was not healing, and he was losing a lot of blood.
“YOU’RE WRONG!” Dante fumed as his hand automatically went to his wounds, wincing with unbearable pain. “Listen to me, kid: you’re the only one left here who could stop my stupid brother.”
“I can’t beat your brother! Not like this - ”
“Then, take this!” The older man snapped, shoving his sword towards the young one. “That’s,… the Devil Sword Dante. Use it to defeat,… Vergil!”
Nero looked at the sword in his hands, still trying to process everything that’s going on. “I can’t accept this! You’re his family! You’re supposed to be the one who must defeat - !”
“AND SO ARE YOU! Vergil - V - is your father! I won’t last,… much longer!” Dante wheezed. “If you don’t want to do it for me, then do it for (Y/N)! You must,… beat some sense out of your old man for,… HURTING HER! AARRGGHH!”
“Hey!” Nero spluttered as he witnessed how the once strong Dante spout out blood, the life leaving his body. “Take it easy,…”
“Swear to me you’ll beat Vergil!”
The youth glanced into his uncle’s worried eyes, searching for some kind of hope in them.
But, there was none.
Dante, the Legendary Devil Hunter, was dying.
Nero grasped the sword like it was his, looked at Dante for one last time, and nodded. He also looked at the girl on Dante’s arms. It seemed that all hope has finally left her, as well.
“No offense here but, Devil Sword Dante sucks ass. Devil Sword Nero sounds better.”
“Whatever.” Dante whispered, his eyelids dropping and his breathing getting shallower. “Do it for the girl,… capisce?”
“Sure.”
The man smiled and wrapped his arms around her for one last time. He closed his eyes and breathed his last.
Nero felt a strange sting in his eyes but, he refused to let his emotions overwhelm him.
After all this time, he finally found out he has a family.
But, Dante was already gone,…
He turned away and ran in pursuit of the man who was the cause of all this shit.
With the Devil Sword Dante on his hand, and the Red Queen and the Blue Rose at his disposal, Nero morphed back into his Devil form and launched in the air, looking for Vergil, all the while seeing the massive casualties of the Hunters on the ground below him.
And just when he was about to speed past them, he noticed a familiar - looking white vehicle making its way past the mountain of Demon and human carcasses.
“Shit! Shit! Shit!” Nico uncharacteristically cursed as she drove and avoided multiple fallen debris from both the Dreadnought and some destroyed buildings.
“This isn’t supposed to happen!” Lady, who was in the vehicle together with her and Trish, protested. “Why is Shinano Musashi still alive?!”
“Dante, and everybody else, lost! And that’s about it.” Trish asserted, finding her own assumptions, and her untimely headache, hard to swallow.
“We can’t lose right now! That Demon’s on a rampage! Everybody will die!” Lady prodded, still willing to fight despite their huge loss.
“NO ONE’S LEAVING THIS TRAILER UNTIL I SAY SO!” Nico howled as she drove faster, trying to protect the two ladies in her own way.
All of a sudden, they heard a hard thud on the roof of the vehicle, like something heavy landed on it. Then, it was followed by some knocks, like it was begging to be let in.
“What’s that?” Lady questioned.
“I have a fair idea who.” Nico answered as she hit the break. Moments later, Nero entered the trailer, looking devastated and disturbed. “Hey, psycho! What happened out there?!”
“Dante’s dead.”
At the youth’s bombshell of an announcement, the three women fell silent, unable to grasp the truth.
“It can’t be,…” Lady mumbled, eyes wide with shock.
“(Y/N)’s still holding on but, not for long, I know. And V,…” Nero went on, eyes narrow in sheer wrath. “He’s the cause of all of this.”
“What exactly do you mean by that?” Trish asked, partially expecting V to be somehow involved with everything that was happening.
The young Devil Hunter explained everything, from the moment V took (Y/N)’s powers by stabbing her and the fact that he was Dante’s long lost twin brother, Vergil. And that he was, unfortunately, his own father.
And as the three women heard about the real ShiShi waking up as a true and hideous Demon due to her “sister” being wronged by the man she loved, they couldn’t help but wince in total frustration and disappointment.
“So, V chose power and ended up angering ShiShi in the process.” Nico stated, feeling nothing but anger towards the man she once trusted. “Sounds like a bitch to me. Your father, I mean.”
“Where is V - Vergil, now?” Trish asked.
“I’m not sure but, I have a hunch.”
Just as Nico was about to start the trailer, they heard a fresh batch of frightening explosions nearby - a sign that (Y/N)’s sister was wreaking havoc once more with her lasers of obliteration.
“If we linger here for a bit longer, we’ll all be fried!” The Artisan yelled as she began driving as fast as she could. “Nero, where do you think your old man is?!”
“Fleminger’s mansion!”
The woman’s eyebrows furrowed. She pushed her glasses up the bridge of her freckeled nose and nodded. “We’ve got some major bitch ass - kicking to do.” She said as she skillfully grabbed a cigarette stick from her pocket, flipped it, and caught it with her chapped lips. “I’m allowed to smoke now because the girl who forbade me to do it is gone! Nero!”
The youth obliged, grabbing the lighter from his pocket and lighting up the Artisan’s cigar. “Can we get there in five minutes?”
Nico tilted her head and smirked. “Bitch, please. We’ll get there in three!”
“NICO, BEHIND US!” Lady shrieked as she looked at the window, signalling for an incoming attack.
As the bumpy ride went on, the woman has succesfully performed turns, sometimes, flips, with the vehicle, skillfully dodging all of ShiShi’s deadly lasers that seemed to target them and them alone. And a few heart - stopping moments later, Fleminger’s mansion finally came into view.
“We’re gonna make it!” Lady exclaimed but, her positivity was cut short as soon as they noticed Trish pointing at something behind them. The laser, which stayed in one place for a moment, grew wider at thrice its regular size.
“No,… way,…” Nico uttered as she glanced at it on her side mirror. Her eyes grew even wider as the laser chased after them, obliterating everything in its path.
“NICO, IT’S GONNA CATCH UP TO US!” Lady yelled at her.
“I KNOW!” Nico yelled back as she drove faster than ever before. “(S/N), STOP ATTACKING US! WE’RE NOT YOUR ENEMIES!”
“(S/N)?!” Nero inquired as he looked at the Artisan in confusion.
“(Y/N)’s sister. She told me.” The woman answered.
“Whatever her name is,” Trish began in a not - so - calm voice. “… we’re not gonna make it! (S/N) wants all of us dead!”
And she was right: the massive crimson light was inches away from the vehicle, already disintegrating parts of it.
Nico inhaled deeply, contemplating her next move for a few seconds. And when she finally exhaled, filling the air around her with cigarette smoke, she spoke, “Nero, on my signal, I want you to jump out of this trailer. Lady, Trish, you’ll do whatever it takes to get Nero to safety. Is that clear?”
“Hey, hey, hey, what are you talking about?!” Nero started to argue when Trish grasped his shoulder firmly. The youth turned just in time to see the two female Devil Hunters nodding at him.
“Girls, you’ve got to be joking - !”
“IS THAT CLEAR?!”
“We understand!” Trish and Lady answered.
“Okay.”
“You’re being stupid and reckless! I can’t let you die here! I won’t allow it!”
“STOP BEING A BITCH AND LISTEN TO ME FOR THE LAST TIME!” Nico screamed at him in anger, her sight not once straying from the road. “You’re the only one left who could do this! Better us than you!”
“She’s right. We don’t have much time!” Trish added.
“GUYS!” Lady shrieked in utter panic, pointing at the back, or what’s left, of the vehicle, now swiftly being swallowed by the light.
“LADY, OPEN THE DOOR! TRISH, DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO STOP THAT LIGHT FROM REACHING NERO! AND WHEN SHE DOES, NERO, I WANT YOU TO JUMP AS FAR AWAY FROM HERE AS YOU CAN!”
“GOTCHA!”
“GOT IT!”
Nero watched helplessly as the women did their jobs, of Lady opening the door, of Trish positioning herself in front of the light, her hands sparkling with what’s left of her demonic power, and of Nico driving as fast as she could.
Determined to the bone, the Artisan made one last trick and launched the vehicle in mid air. She turned to them and uttered her final command.
“NOW!”
Trish held up both her hands and channeled every bit of her power to the light, doing everything she can to hamper its movement.
“NERO, PLEASE!” Lady pleaded as she waited for the youth to oblige.
“Y - you,…” the young Devil Hunter stuttered in disbelief, unable to protect them, himself, despite having adequate power.
“PUSH THAT KID OUT OF HERE! AAHH!” Trish howled in pain as the light festered her hands, then her forearms.
Lady made one last effort to push Nero out of the trailer, away from them,…
… away from the very last people who placed, yet, another great burden upon his shoulders.
The last things he saw on the trailer as he gave it one last look were Lady’s worried different - colored eyes, Trish’s serene smile, despite her half - gone body,…
… and Nico flipping the bird as she spat her very last cigarette butt.
A huge explosion followed as the light finally engulfed the trailer, throwing Nero farther away from the road with its impact.
The next time he opened his eyes, everything was quiet, everything was calm,…
He couldn’t see anything,…
… except for the lifeless faces of all the people he lost within a day.
Dante, Nico, Lady, Trish,…
… and that girl,…
All because of one man’s huge blunder.
And he, a proud descendant of Sparda, was hell - bent on bringing that stupid man down to his knees,…
