3113 Mile Harley Davidson Rally (Part 1)
In August we attended the Wild and Wonderful Harly Owners Group (HOG) regional rally centered in Charleston, West Virginia. If this was your first HOG rally, I am afraid it may have been your last as well.  If it was not your first it was disappointing wh

How I Got Into F1 (the long version)
@littleblacksheep17
One of my earliest memories I have of my grandfather is sitting on his lap in the living room at three years old, watching forty or so cars rip around an oval track at 200 miles an hour.
It was the Daytona 500, and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. I was still a few weeks out from gaining any form of meaningful consciousness, and yet my little neurons were firing on all cylinders (heh) telling me that this was exactly where I wanted to be. It was NASCAR.
WAIT, before you start throwing rocks at my head for being a dirty stock car enjoyer, let me just be very clear:
Fuck off.
Motorsport is motorsport. They all require an insane level of strength, coordination, endurance, and skill. Racing is the most raw form of sport humans can achieve, whether it’s on foot or wheels. I will not tolerate motorsport purists.
That being said, I will say that NASCAR is a very different type of racing from Formula One. Some people love it, some people don’t, and that’s okay! I don’t need you to enjoy all types of motorsport, I just don’t want to hear any negative comments about one version being worse or easier or pointless compared to another.
Anyway, NASCAR. My grandfather was a huge American motorsport fan. NHRA, Indycar, I’m pretty sure he watched CART when that was still a thing, he loved dirt oval racing, he’d watch AMA motorcross it it came on — if it was American and involved vehicles going fast, he wanted to watch it. So of course, I grew up sitting with him, watching cars go around tracks, finding out why some drivers were good and some were bad, why this car was faster than another, how engines worked, the whole thing.
My grandfather also built cars from the ground up — not just as a mechanic, he like, built his own truck with pieces he bought and took from the junkyard. It was a thing of beauty: black, sleek, it smelled good, okay I’m rambling back to motorsport.
Anyway, of course the moment my uncle found out about my love for racing, he introduced me to rally. He’s an at-home mechanic and a firefighter. He’s always loved the outdoors, and cars, and he’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie. Snowboarding, skiing, motocross, dirt buggies, mountain biking, and of course, rally — if it’s outside and just might kill him, he loves it. He likes camping and hunting and diving, he’s just probably my favorite person on the planet.
Between my uncle and my grandfather, motorsport was kind of a no brainer of an interest to pick up.
I also got really into mechanics when I was about seven years old, when an interest in WWII turned into an obsession over the technology behind airplanes and tanks and the like.
And then, the short version comes in. I’m sitting at my desk, bored, it’s lockdown, everyone’s stuck inside, and my YouTube recommends me Formula One highlights, because I’d been watching NASCAR and WRC and WEC a lot, especially when I just needed background sound (I’ll attach the video I’ve been using to fall asleep recently, it’s just the most beautiful sound ever).
So I watch the highlights, I think “this is cool” and then of course YouTube gives me clips of Verstappen and Riccardo cackling together, Norris being giggly in interviews, Hamilton and Vettel and Alonso and Kimi, the whole vacuum of F1 personality just dumped on me week one.
And of course, I fell in love.
Give it four years, a whole lot of spare time, ADHD with mild autism and OCD symptoms and oops Bucket Of F1 Facts :3
<><><>
Here's the video I use to sleep. If you're gonna try it to sleep too, start at minute 19 because there's a pit stop about 15 minutes in:
youtube
It's part of a like, 6 video series or something I think. It's a cool onboard too.

Developing Game ideas #2
I had another idea to make a skiing game, based on balance using 2 modified joysticks, changing the joysticks to skiing poles, with 2 poles you would need to move both of them in the same direction to move in that direction, there are a lot of games that use one joystick to control a hard to aim character, without crashing into anything
The basic premise of the game is to control and skiing dude down a mountain with a lot of trees and you need to dodge the trees, similar to an endless runner, you will slowly gain speed over time, i can take a few things from my endless runner project from the rapid prototyping project i did a while ago.
Other games similar to this
Lonely mountains: downhill
This game has you play as a poly modelled character on a bike, and your goal is to get from the peak of the mountain to the valley, in the smallest amount of time possible. this game could be similar to my game as the controls are fairly hard to use, i will use this as the baseline of my game using controls like this will make the game challenging yet fun for all players.
youtube
Art of rally
Art of rally is a game with a similar artstyle to the other game i looked at here, being quite simple poly models of things for a simplistic style, but again i am looking at the controlling sticks, based around rally driving, involving lots of drifting this game has you drive around various places going for the shortest time possible, involving you cutting corners and making drifts for faster turns.
this game is really good to look at for me because of the various different ways you can control the car, with sharper movements being rewarded with drifting and slower movement with safer more easy controls.
youtube
i could swap to one controller and use a flight sim joystick to allow you to jump and do tricks, or another button that lets you slow down time for some cool action shots too. this would make for a really fun game with a points system based on tricks possibly, this would make it quite accessible with one controller, and it would make it have an arcade feel, with fast resets you could play all day trying to beat your score

2024-12-25: West Virginia (Hex 25)
Clouds poke at the rounded peaks of these old mountains covered by forest except for the parts where the mining companies saw an opportunity. Rumbles from the distant mountaintops interrupt the sounds of nature; it’s not thunder, but the mountaintops being broken apart by explosive mining. The way to the southeast is prone to delays.
Notable Feature: The Appalachian Tunnel (Hazard)
Only the shortest trips along The Routes in West Virginia don’t go through the Appalachian Tunnel. It doesn’t seem to matter where you’re going or what direction you’re traveling, The Routes will make you travel the tunnel. The Appalachian Tunnel is a twisting 40-ish mile section of enclosed road that has been blasted through the heart of a mountain and nominally paved. Ancient sodium bulbs illuminate some of the dark spaces with erratic flickers, though they are spaced too far apart to do much good and there are things lurking in the darkness that will test the fortitude of even the strongest travelers.
For cars traveling through the area, every passenger in the car must make a DC 17 CON saving throw check. If a majority of the passengers succeed on the saving throw, the car traverses the hex without incident. If the majority fail, the car traverses the hex after suffering a misfortune. Roll a d6 and consult the table below to determine what misfortune occurs. All individuals in the car suffer the same misfortune.
Tunnel Misfortunes (1d6)
The gruesome remains of someone who perished in the tunnel fill you with dread. Gain disadvantage on all checks to avoid the Frightened condition for the next 1d6 days.
Pools of darkness in the tunnel hint at the things nightmares are made of. You do not gain the benefits of your next long rest as you have difficulty sleeping.
Smoke from the burning wreck of a vehicle releases toxic chemicals into the stale tunnel air. You are poisoned for 24 hours.
A poor soul in the car in front of you grew too paranoid from the shadows and started shooting at you for following too closely. Randomly choose 1d4 people in the car to sustain Dangerous (piercing) damage.
Unnatural darkness settles within your soul. For the next 1d6 days, all light within 40 feet of you is one dimmed. Bright light becomes dim, and dim light becomes darkness.
Horrible things seen in the tunnel ruin your appetite and prevent you from eating. After the first day without food, you may roll a DC 15 CON saving throw once each day to end the condition and eat normally.
Hidden: The Scheming Biker
Waiting near a vocational school that trains people to become mechanics is Buster Morgan. Buster is part of a motorcycle club (the Road Raiders) that was on its way to participate in a rally down in Alabama and he was left behind after a major engine failure. No one wanted to let Buster ride with them, so Buster forced to find a way to repair his bike with limited funds and make his way to the rally. That's why he's helping out at the vocational school to hopefully get his bike repaired for next to free. His club's actions have stirred up massive feelings of resentment in Buster, and he'll ask anyone who is going to Alabama if they would mind helping bring club leadership down a peg by sabotaging or disrupting the club's performance at the rally which will happen in 4 days. Exactly what will be done or how it will be accomplished is up to the party, as long as no one is seriously injured or killed and only people with Road Raiders insignia end up affected.
Hidden: The Misguided Missionary
Brother Abram Ellison is an arrogant priest who presides over the Jordan Salvation Southern Baptist Church. He has heard rumors that there are large black dogs that portend the imminent death of those who see them while driving, and their existence is clearly evidence that the devil is working on the mortal plane and that the dogs have some sort of connection to Hell. He asks the party to collect one of these supernatural dogs alive and bring it back to the church.
He believes that by sacrificing the dog using a particular ritual, Brother Abram can open up a portal to Hell and travel through it to rescue the souls of damned who turned away from Christ. To protect himself from the flames of Hell, Brother Abram will be symbolically baptized again via complete immersion in holy water which will prevent the denizens of Hell from touching him. Brother Abram is correct that the holy water will keep him safe from hellish devils, but he is unfortunately wrong about a very important point: when he steps through the portal into Hell, the flames will almost immediately turn his wet baptismal robe into steam and nearly boil him alive. Within 30 seconds, the water will be completely evaporated and since there is no holy water to protect him, the devils will swarm upon him to enact their vengeance for his hubris.
Attentive characters will be able to memorize/copy the surprisingly simple ritual that opens a portal to Hell after seeing Brother Abram perform it. The hardest part of the ritual is finding a creature that works for the sacrifice. Opening up a portal to Hell doesn't have much of a practical application for most character, but it might be useful in the right situation.
Service Station: Kevin’s Kave
Built halfway up the mountain on a narrow road, Kevin's Kave has the architectural distinction of incorporating a shallow natural cave into the building's rear. The cool stone of the cave walls turn that part of the store into a natural cooler, which is (of course) used as a way to keep large quantities of beer cold. However, the location of the business means that space is at a premium. Everything is spread out in a long line that's about the width of a two-lane road.
The parking lot can hold a total of 4 cars (including one at the lone gas pump). No one can fill up if the fuel tanker is present because the big truck takes up almost the entire parking lot by itself. Thankfully, there's rarely more than one car at the store at any given time.

Is It Worth Shipping Your Motorcycle To Virginia?
Tumblr media
Shipping a motorcycle is a big decision that involves evaluating convenience, cost, and the value of your motorcycle. If you want to conveniently ship motorcycle to Virginia, the question of whether it's worth the expense depends on several factors including your reason for the move, your motorcycle’s worth, time constraints, and road conditions.
Virginia, with its scenic byways and rich historical landscape, is a destination many motorcycle enthusiasts are eager to explore—but does that make shipping your bike there a worthy investment?
Understanding the Value Proposition
1. The Financial Angle
The cost to ship motorcycle to Virginia by motorcycle and car transport companies changes constantly depending on several factors: the distance, the type of shipping (open vs. enclosed transport), the time of year, and whether door-to-door or terminal-to-terminal delivery is chosen.
On average, domestic shipments may cost between $400 and $800, and cross-country motorcycle or car transport services may cost more. While this may seem steep initially, compare it with the cost of riding the motorcycle yourself, including gas, lodging, meals, wear and tear, and potentially lost income due to time away from work.
If your motorcycle is a high-end or custom model, enclosed shipping is often worth the premium to protect your investment. The additional cost is easily justified for owners of vintage or sentimental bikes. On the other hand, if your motorcycle is more common and replaceable, or if you're on a tight budget, the costs might outweigh the benefits.
Exploring Virginia’s Motorcycle Appeal
2. Why Ship to Virginia?
Virginia offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical value. The Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, and Colonial Parkway are just a few of the motorcycle-friendly routes that wind through forests, mountains, and coastal areas.
Riders often flock to the Appalachian region for its curves and elevation changes, which offer both a challenge and a thrill.
If you're relocating permanently, traveling for an extended stay, attending a bike rally, or simply want to explore Virginia’s famed routes during peak riding season, having your motorcycle can greatly enhance your experience.
Renting a motorcycle may not offer the same comfort or familiarity as riding one yourself, and in some areas, rental options may be limited or expensive.
Comparing Shipping vs. Riding
3. Logistics and Comfort
Riding your motorcycle across states can be fun—but it’s also risky. Weather changes, road hazards, and fatigue are all variables that can turn a thrilling journey into a stressful one.
If you're not used to long-distance riding or you’re trying to follow a tight schedule, making the choice to ship motorcycle to Virginia allows you to travel comfortably and still enjoy your motorcycle when you arrive.
Additionally, professional motorcycle and car transport services offer tracking, insurance, and logistical support that can give peace of mind during transit. Most reputable motorcycle shippers use specialized equipment to ensure your bike is handled safely and arrives in good condition.
Situational Scenarios
4. When Shipping Makes the Most Sense
Relocation: If you’re moving to Virginia, especially from across the country, shipping your motorcycle and household items can be efficient and cost-effective.
Seasonal Riding: Snowbirds or part-time residents living in Virginia during the warmer months often choose to ship their bikes ahead of time and pick them up at the end of the season.
Event Participation: Shipping your bike can ensure it's in peak condition upon arrival for motorcycle rallies, charity rides, or competitive events like track days.
Vacationing: Planning a motorcycle-focused vacation in Virginia? Shipping your bike allows you to maximize your riding time without the hassle of a long outbound journey.
Potential Downsides
5. What to Watch Out For
While shipping a motorcycle has many advantages, there are a few potential drawbacks to keep in mind:
Cost: For shorter distances, the shipping cost may approach or exceed the bike's value or the cost of riding it.
Time: Depending on the carrier and distance, it could take 1–2 weeks for your motorcycle to arrive, so planning is crucial.
Carrier Reliability: Not all motorcycle shipping companies are created equal. It’s important to research providers, read reviews, verify insurance coverage, and confirm that the company is licensed and insured.
Ultimately, whether it's worth shipping your motorcycle to Virginia depends on your circumstances. If you aim for comfort, convenience, and bike protection, then yes—employing a reputable motorcycle or car transport company is the smart option. It lets you focus on the thrill of the ride once you're there, without the fatigue or risks of a long-distance journey. However, alternative solutions such as renting or riding, may be more practical for those visiting for a short time or on a limited budget.

Days in Nelson
So. On thursday I spent the whole morning video chatting with people which was really nice, felt kinda “socially refreshed” if that makes any sense. The second chat with Edward was actually already at the parking lot of a bikepark in Silvan forest in Richmond which is about 20 min south of Nelson. Lilia (or Lilla, not actually sure, she’s the hungarian girl living here) suggested me to try one of the trails there and it did not disappoint although the climb felt really long and didn’t feel too fit due to really exhausting myself the day before. Anyway, the trail was fun, loose, rocky, pretty steep but not too steep. On the way up I already realized that I am definitely not going for a second lap but since this trail “de la luna” didn’t end up at the parking lot but finished halfway down the hill I climbed a bit more and rode another trail called “Goliath” which was super fun, just steep turns the whole way down. In the end I went back for a 2nd lap and just at the start some 10-12 year old looking kids stopped me (in such a polite way oh my, if all kids were this polite the world would be a better place haha) to help them sort out a mechanical issue with one of their bikes. Unfortunately due to the lack of proper tools I couldn’t really fix it for them but they were still pretty grateful. Anyway, on the second lap I filmed the short clip that you can see below this post, phone tucked into my pants and hoping it doesn’t fall out.
Tumblr media
On friday the plan was to check out the final few stages of this multi day blind enduro (NZ Mtb Rally) race with Lilia. The organizers put up some information of the instagram site of the race stating that there is gonna be a “heckle zone” at the finish of the last stage of the race where you can get a free noise making tool (vuvuzela or something similar) to cheer for the racers. This only started at 2 pm so I had time to squeeze in two more laps of riding before, one on a trail I kinda knew well already and another one that Lilia recommended and although it was the highest grade of difficulty it turned out pretty good, there was only one really steep almost vertical corner where I realized that either I go now or if I keep looking at it for another 2 seconds my courage is gonna be gone so I went for it and survived haha. Good trail. Scary in places but still doable and fun!
Afterwards I ate lunch at the parking lot and met up with Lilia and together we watched the last 30 or so riders around the finish area. It was pretty loud and hectic, quite a lot of people vuvuzelas, bells and everything you can imagine. Lilia has been living here for 4 years now and seems to know people wherever she goes. Funny enough I ended up also hearing a familiar voice right next to me, it turned out to be the host of the OTB podcast which is a mountain bike podcast that I listen to every other sometimes. Fun spectating, the local hero Sam Blenkinsop won the race, put down a spectecular run on the last stage. I already decided it the day before that I don’t wanna stay in this campsite longer cause there is no reception and I just felt a bit trapped there after 4 or so nights so I decided to go to Kaiteriteri where I had been already at the end of February (where I went swimming and cut my foot) at a pretty nice campsite. It was a one hour drive from Nelson, the idea was to go ride there on Saturday. On friday night I was finally able to slow down a bit which as always, was much needed. Apparently I am still learning to become aware of what my body/soul actually needs instead of what my mind tells me I need, like it is just super easy try to constantly stay on that high of riding, then watching a race, then watching a series, reading and so on and it is a great way of avoiding any kind of introspection which is pretty necessary. This time I realized that the constant urge to stay on that high was coming from trying to avoid some fears I have around the next leg of my travels namely selling the car, the trip to Vancouver island and whatever comes after that. To not have to feel any of this I just kept chasing that high for quite a few days. While it was quite uncomfortable to slow down it was much needed. This helped me the next morning when after a good chat with my sister I made the decision to skip riding cause I just know at my core that it’s not what I truly want and need so I spent a few hours at the beach just sitting and letting my inner world sort some stuff out. I also did some volunteer research for Canada again and wrote one application and actually got a response soon after, should have a chat with the host in the next few days, it’s a min 1 month stay in Squamish from mid May so I am pretty keen for that!
I still can’t get over how the weather has been nearly perfect for sports most days and at the beach it was once again warm but not that sweaty, I wanna die let me go for a swim or else kinda warm..totally bearable, with a light breeze just good.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The rest of the day was actually fixed a few days back when Lilia invited me to the premier of the new movie (documentary) of the french enduro rider Kilian Bron, so I drove back to Nelson, checked in at the hostel where I was gonna stay for the night, quick shower, dinner and walked to the cinema to meet up with Lilia before the movie. I thought it makes more sense to stay in the city cause the event was supposed to end around 9:30 pm and I didn’t like the idea of driving to a campsite that late and getting everything sorted in the dark so I found this hostel just two blocks from the cinema. They had a really out of tune guitar which I got to try this morning, mmmm sweet Lord how I missed playing the guitar..
Tumblr media
The movie was quite interesting, some beautiful shots, it was filmed in Nepal in September 2023. I liked the concept, there was a bit of story and they didn’t just film riding scenes but actually tried to showcase how the locals live, their culture and so on which was nice but there were also parts where the Kilian donated a bike to a local kid and said that he’d finance his studies which is really generous but I don’t really like the concept of big rich white men going to the east and “trying to fix” stuff there cause we for sure know better..Then again, donating a bike is cool, probably won’t do much harm but yeah I have some reservations about this inbalance of power basically. In any case, I am glad i’ve seen the movie, Kilian was there after to answer some questions he seemed pretty genuine and honest about why he wants to do this so that’s cool.
After the movie Lilian and I went to have a drink at the same spot where we first met a few days ago and had another great chat about the movie, meditation and other things, got back to the hostel pretty late, went straight to bed after what felt like an eventful day.
Tumblr media
For today I didn’t have much of a plan other than leaving Nelson and doing laundry somewhere and just in general having another slow day, which I did have. The only thing worth mentioning was picking up a french hitchhiker dude in Nelson and dropping him off at a town near Picton as he was heading back to the North island, we had a lovely chat, glad that I could finally help someone out since I usually drive shorter distances or I was always going in the opposite direction compared to where hitchhikers were going.
Tonight I am staying on the east coast literally, by the sea and will be heading south tomorrow. It’s a pretty basic campsite, no electricity, no hot water (the water is not treated actually so drink it at your own risk basically), no check in desk or anything. Paid online, find a spot for yourself and that’s it. Can even see the north island from here that’s pretty cool! (In the far back on the left side of the picture below)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All in all I am really starting to feel that I am coming to the end of this chapter here in New Zealand, I feel really content with what I was able to experience here, I don’t feel like I missed out on major things and somehow I am just really getting ready mentally to what’s next. That being said it hits me daily that I only have 3 weeks left which feels like it crept up on me without me noticing it, a few weeks ago the whole Canada thing seemed so far away and now it really is getting close. I am ready for the next (originally unplanned) part of this trip!
If someone told me back in Hungary that I’d be going to Canada from here I would’ve laughed the loudest..
Obligatory song suggestion:
Lily Meola - Northern Star
I found this song on instagram a couple of days ago, John Mayer played it. During his radio show so I gave it a try and I fell in love with it. Slow acoustic song about the singer mourning the death of her mum. It’s a bit bittersweet but also incredibly beautiful. Hope you listen to it and love it as much as I do.

The Purpose of Cross Motorcycles: Exploring Their Uses
Cross motorcycles, or dirt bikes, are designed primarily for off-road use, making them ideal for a variety of outdoor activities. These powerful machines are built to handle rough terrains and challenging conditions, providing an exciting experience for riders who seek adventure, speed, and freedom in nature.
One of the primary uses of cross motorcycles is for off-road recreational riding. Riders take these bikes through dirt trails, forests, deserts, and mountains, where they can enjoy the thrill of navigating rough terrain. The lightweight build, knobby tires, and long suspension systems allow the bikes to excel on uneven surfaces such as mud, rocks, and loose gravel. This type of riding is a popular pastime for those who want to escape urban environments and explore natural landscapes.
Cross motorcycles are also heavily utilized in competitive sports, with motocross being the most well-known. In motocross, riders race on specially designed tracks that feature jumps, sharp turns, and obstacles. The goal is to test the rider’s skills in speed, control, and agility while navigating through challenging terrains. Motocross competitions are held at various levels, from local races to world championships, drawing enthusiasts and professional riders alike.
In addition to recreational and competitive use, cross motorcycles are also used for trail riding and endurance racing. Trail riding involves exploring less aggressive terrain for long distances, often in remote areas, where riders can test their endurance and riding abilities. Endurance races, such as the famous Dakar Rally, challenge riders to cover vast distances across extreme environments, demonstrating the durability and performance of cross motorcycles in the harshest conditions.
In conclusion, cross motorcycles serve multiple purposes, from recreational riding to competitive sports and endurance challenges. Their design allows them to conquer off-road landscapes, making them an essential tool for outdoor adventurers and racers seeking both excitement and endurance in the great outdoors.

Once upon a time in a small town, there was a biker named Jake. He was known for his rugged leather jacket, the unmistakable roar of his motorcycle, and a spirit that craved adventure. Every weekend, Jake would set out on long rides, his trusted bike, a classic Harley, glistening under the sun. The open road was his escape, a place where he could leave behind the mundane and embrace the thrill of the unknown.
Jake loved the freedom that came with biking—the wind in his hair, the landscapes shifting from mountains to coastlines, and the camaraderie of fellow riders he met along the way. Each journey was a new story waiting to unfold, whether it was stopping at a roadside diner for a slice of pie or sharing laughs with other bikers at a rally.
But Jake was more than just a rider; he was a wanderer with a heart of gold. He often volunteered at local charities, using his love for biking to raise funds and awareness for causes close to his heart. He believed that the road was not just about the ride, but about the connections forged along the way.
As the sun set behind him, casting a golden glow over the horizon, Jake felt at peace. No matter where the road took him, he knew that each mile was a reminder of the freedom he cherished, the friendships he built, and the adventures that awaited just beyond the next bend.

The Thrill of Riding: A Journey into the World of Motorcycles
There’s something undeniably captivating about the hum of a motorcycle engine, the open road ahead, and the rush of wind against your face as you carve through a curve. Riding a motorcycle isn’t just a means of transportation—it’s an experience, a lifestyle, and for many, a source of freedom and exhilaration that no other vehicle can provide.
Tumblr media
The Appeal of Motorcycles
Motorcycles have a unique charm that appeals to a wide range of enthusiasts. From adrenaline-seeking speedsters to those who savor the serenity of a scenic ride, there's a bike for every rider. But what exactly makes motorcycles so alluring?
Freedom on Two Wheels Unlike cars, motorcycles immerse riders in their surroundings. There are no walls, no windows—just you and the open air. This connection to the environment, whether you’re riding through mountains, along the coast, or in a bustling city, brings an unparalleled sense of freedom.
Efficiency and Agility Motorcycles are typically more fuel-efficient than cars and can maneuver through traffic with ease, making them ideal for both long-distance touring and daily commuting. Their smaller size also means they can be parked almost anywhere, adding an element of convenience for city dwellers.
A Thriving Community The motorcycle world is a tight-knit community that spans the globe. Riders share a camaraderie that’s rooted in their shared passion, whether it’s through group rides, rallies, or just a friendly wave on the road. This sense of belonging is one of the intangible rewards of riding.
Customization and Personal Expression From vintage bikes to the latest superbikes, motorcycles offer endless possibilities for customization. Riders often take pride in making their bikes unique, expressing their personality through modifications, paint jobs, or accessories. Whether you prefer the raw power of a sportbike or the classic elegance of a cruiser, your bike is an extension of you.
Types of Motorcycles
The world of motorcycles is diverse, catering to different riding styles and preferences. Here's a breakdown of some of the most popular types:
Sportbikes Designed for speed and performance, sportbikes are the go-to choice for those who crave power. These bikes are built for agility and are often seen zooming through race tracks and winding roads. Their aggressive stance and lightweight design allow for quick acceleration and precise handling.
Cruisers Cruiser motorcycles, like the iconic Harley-Davidson, are all about relaxed, comfortable riding. With a laid-back seating position and smooth handling, cruisers are ideal for long-distance touring and casual rides. They’re often associated with the “classic” motorcycle look and are perfect for riders who enjoy a slower pace.
Touring Bikes If you dream of hitting the open road for extended trips, touring motorcycles are built with comfort and endurance in mind. Equipped with large fuel tanks, storage compartments, and plush seating, these bikes are designed for long hours of riding.
Adventure Bikes (ADV) For riders who want to venture off the beaten path, adventure motorcycles combine the features of both street and off-road bikes. They can tackle a wide variety of terrains, from highways to rugged trails, making them the perfect companion for adventurers.
Café Racers With their minimalist design and vintage flair, café racers are a nod to the classic motorcycles of the 1960s. These bikes are light, nimble, and built for short, fast rides, often giving off a retro aesthetic that many find irresistible.
Safety First: Gear and Maintenance
Motorcycling offers an exciting experience, but safety should always come first. Proper gear is essential to protect yourself on the road. A high-quality helmet, gloves, jacket, and boots are the minimum essentials. Many riders also invest in protective armor and padded clothing to safeguard against potential accidents.
Additionally, maintaining your motorcycle is key to ensuring it runs smoothly. Regular checks of the brakes, tires, and engine, along with oil changes, can prevent breakdowns and keep your ride safe.
The Motorcycle Mindset: A Way of Life
Riding a motorcycle is more than just a hobby—it’s a mindset. Many riders speak of a sense of mindfulness and focus while on the road. Riding requires full attention, which often brings a sense of mental clarity and escape from the stresses of daily life. For some, it’s almost meditative.
Beyond the mental benefits, motorcycling can be a source of confidence. Mastering the skills needed to ride, whether it's learning to lean into a turn or maneuvering through tight spaces, is rewarding. The independence of riding solo or the shared bond with fellow bikers adds depth to the experience.
Conclusion: Embrace the Ride
Whether you're a seasoned rider or someone considering getting on two wheels for the first time, the world of motorcycles has something to offer. It’s not just about the destination—it's about the ride. The feeling of freedom, the community, and the joy of being out in the world, exposed to the elements, are what make motorcycling such an irresistible passion for so many.
So, gear up, hit the road, and discover the thrill that only a motorcycle can provide.

My Nintendo SNES Exertainment Life Cycle Bike 9XS - A retro gaming machine you never even heard of!
My Nintendo SNES Exertainment Life Cycle Bike 9XS - A retro gaming machine you never even heard of! https://ift.tt/8cw7g2H Wow haha look what I found, rare Nintendo bike from 1993, still working, very coolHello gaming redditors! This post will be about the Nintendo Exertainment SNES Life Cycle Bike 9XS, one of the rarest and craziest products to ever get released by Nintendo. In 1993, Nintendo revealed their new way to connect fitness and sports with gaming: the Nintendo Exertainment Exercise Bikes. There were 2 different models on the market: The Life Cycle Bike 3500 and the Life Cycle Bike 9XS. The 3500 was released for training at home: you would connect your bike with your own SNES console via an extra receiver and you would be able to play one of 2 games to ever get produced for that purpose - but being priced at $800, the interest was very very low. And then there was its big brother: the 9XS. Priced at $2,000, the 9XS would have its own built in console and monitor, so you would just need some energy to start playing! This was perfect for e.g. fitness studios, because they wouldn't need to set up a console and TV for you to start playing, and just have everything built in in a single machine! There are 2 games made for the bikes: "Speed Racer" and "Mountain Bike Rally". The first one is a car game, where you boost your car by kicking the pedals as fast as possible, and steering with the buttons on your handles. The second one is an actual bike racing game, working similar to the first one. There were special edition disks with both these games on a single disk, with some of them selling for many thousands of euros today. There were no more games produced because of the low demand of these bikes on the market. Now to my (m21, from Munich, Germany) personal story (don't expect too much, it's lame af): my parents bought a house in 2001, and bought another one in 2009, renovated it and moved into that in 2016. The other house has been empty since then, waiting for me to finish university and live in that house. It wasn't rented to anyone else because the rules for renting are pretty strict in germany, so just letting it wait was the best idea for them. Some weeks ago, they started to clean out the basement, and found this insane gaming rarity. They thought it's just a classic exercise bike and asked me if they can throw it away or if I needed it. To be honest, I didn't know anything about it aswell - but after starting to find some information online, the decision to not throw it away was pretty obvious :DNow, we carried the bike over to my parents newer house, cleaned it and did some testings - and everything works perfectly!! There are close to no usage marks aswell, and the original disk with both games is still inside! With the 9XS being built for commercial usage only, and Nintendo stopping the production shortly after release because nobody would spent 2k$ to play just 2 games, not many of there were ever sold, and even less are still existing today.I didn't find too much information about it, and even less people who own this. I talked to someone who owns both bikes and collects Nintendo stuff, and he told be that he didn't know about another working 9XS bike to exist besides his and told me that this has to be worth like $8,000-$15,000 at least, depending on usage marks and on how complete it is.Here is an imgur link with even more pictures:https://ift.tt/glObJNt check my profile for some more posts about the bike!If you have any questions, any personal experience or just want to push this post to get more attention, just type in the comments, I will answer everything! Also, dms are open for more infos on the bike, if you are interested in buying! That's it from me, now it's your turn! Thank you guys for reading!!  Submitted June 19, 2024 at 04:19AM by tobi_1504 https://ift.tt/Tpx3rUj via /r/gaming
