Can characters speak different languages?

Of course they can! The setting of the roleplay might be in France, but that doesn't mean a character can't be well versed in other languages - as many as you see realistically fit for them to know!

Would you be at all open to someone suggesting a cis FC as one of your NB or trans woman skeletons (e.g. a cis woman for Helene)? I'm super intrigued by a few skeletons who meet those criteria and would love to seize the chance to write a more diverse muse, but I'm having trouble finding FCs that match the general vibes that different skeletons evoke in my head. Totally understand whatever you choose, but just wanted to ask!

We are open to cis FCs for non-binary characters if a suitable non-binary alternative cannot be found, but non-binary FCs are of course preferred and encouraged. However, we would like trans characters to be represented by trans FCs. For Helene in particular, we suggest Hari Nef, Rain Valdez, Eve Lindley, Jamie Clayton, Trace Lysette, Mj Rodriguez, Isis King, or Zion Moreno. What type of performers would Romy be doing?

Think of them as a sort of jack-of-all trades! They started as a dancer but we feel like they're the type of person who likes shock value — they love to push boundaries and try new things. Definitely has a hand in singing and sometimes acting because they love to steal the show.

could you explain your age gap rule and why it’s a rule rather than somethinv like a TW? the implication that a mid/late twenties individual isn’t capable to have a relationship with whoever they choose or that a gap is wrong makes me feel uncomfortable.

We understand your point and aren't suggesting age gap relationships cannot be healthy and consensual. However, the nature of the roleplay and the source material does throw up some concerns surrounding consent and comfort levels for both admins and members and we wanted to preempt this by having safeguards in place.

How active will you guys expect members to be, just wondering about how the pace will go!

Our activity rules will be fairly relaxed. We will be implementing an interest check system, rather than an activity check once opened. As long as you're communicating with us, we're content for you to set your own pace.

Are ages set in stone?

We'll allow flexibility depending on the muse and FC you have in mind, especially for our non-binary and trans characters. If you would like to modify the age of a character, please shoot us a message!

I'm a bit anxious about the era and not having enough knowledge about day-to-day life and trivia about the 1900s, would you say it's still ok for me to apply, and if so I wanted to ask if you have some ressources to share or maybe a list of things I MUST know while playing a character in the 1900s? Hello! It's absolutely okay for you to apply, we'd love to have you here. We take a relaxed view on the historical setting here — prior knowledge and complete historical accuracy aren’t necessary. However, we definitely understand wanting more resources to get into it. We recommend these articles (here and here) to learn more about the Belle Epoque era!
