Contacted Kwik Fit Streatham this morning to request stock availablity and appointment for Tyre replacement of Toyota Aygo x . The agent advised that they aren't able to search with vehicle registration number.

Having had Kwik fit search before, I decided to drive in on there first come first serve basis.

Later I decided to use West Norwood branch. Apart from dirty waiting room, I wasn't given satisfactory service and received indirect verbal abuse (which I as Director would discipline as NOT representing customer service standards. Furious but booked vehicle in.

They weren't with stock. And was told nil stock everywhere.

Why isn't tyres for popular vehicle Toyota Aygo x stocked?

Why hasn't Kwick Fit ordered tyres in case of my current emergency for motobility customers ?

i wish i could do this with my first car but im not getting my own car im getting my mum's because by the time i get a license it'll be a motobility and she might not have to pay insurance for me (if not she'll be paying less)

dunno what it's like in america, but in the uk where automatic cars are rarer (manual stick-shift is most common), would you beleive it's easier to buy second hand automatic cars if they're big and bulky? motobility over in the uk funds new cars for disabled peole, so generally they need to be bigger to fit mobility aids in, and every 3 years you get a new one, meaning there's a constant stream of new cars on the used market

i did not know this and u see this is key. more used cars for the people i love it

Ok, update time. I am halfway through my first chemo session which is Capecitabine. It is in tablet form, 1800mg taken morning and evening, 12 hours apart. First week I was overwhelmed with nausea and sickness so needed to change the antisickness meds. So, after having to skip 4 or 5 chemo sessions at the start, it now seems (hopefully) to be running smoothly. Still tired, that will never fade, it part and parcel of cancer and chemo. Tomorrow I go to see my Physiotherapist because of the state my back is in. And on Wednesday Motobility is picking my car up to go back (thanks brain aneurysm). So far I am managing ok with my son's wonderful help. I've managed to get back on my game World Of Warcraft, and have started a new blog. But everything is taking time due to fatigue. It'll all get done at some point. On Friday night I take me last chemo for this session then I get a week off. Get my bloods checked then start again. 2 weeks of chemo, then a week off, keep repeating. I'm still here, just still adjusting to the new way of living. I am sooo excited to share with you the news that finally after months of fundraising I am finally getting my new chair!!! It folds flat so no more taxis refusing to stop for me, no more not getting on buses because the wheelchair bay is taken. I can fold this down like a pushchair and wheel it on. And yes that means me being unashamed of being able to get up and do it, it probably means me having to put up with dirty looks and ignorant questions etc but that just something I’ve got to work on, I’ve got to work on being ok with not caring what others think or assume.

The batteries also slot into the chassis so it’s light meaning my Mum can get it in her tiny car. Which means no more killing myself struggling on crutches when we go out. Like I don’t go out with my mum or sis much anymore just because up till now I’ve not been able to take my chair.

Also 4 wheel drive which means more stability and more off roading YAY. I can go on nature walks again and not scare the shit out of all the animals because the motors are silent. I’m so happy I could cry, I want to go out and explore the world again and be a part of it again.

So when my chair comes and I shift this beast of a chest infection, I am going out into the world and doing shit I want to do. This is what a wheelchair is it’s freedom, it’s not a fucking prison that able people and Doctors want you to think it is. A good wheelchair is liberation and every disabled person needs to have free access to the mobility aids they need.

We don’t charge regular people to use their legs, so why does it cost us thousands of dollars or pounds just to be able to leave the house? I just really think that as great as it is that people want to help us fundraise, that it shouldn’t be the case that companies can charge disabled and chronically ill people inflated prices for essential equipment. There needs to be better schemes than just motobility to help people get what they need.

If you can bike, you should bike. If you can’t bike, you should use public transport. If you can’t use public transport, you should be provided with a car through a government scheme like Motobility. Cities can and should be designed to facilitate all of these options, rather than mass private car use. I don’t see how any of these things are contradictory.

"public transit>cars" is a valid take but "bikes>cars" is so stupid. MAYBE if you live somewhere that never gets too cold or too hot. otherwise youre gonna be terribly cold or terribly hot or in all likelihood, both.
