Dan Landry - 4 of Swords
The next character in our series “Pedro’s Characters as Tarot Cards” is Dan Landry, from the Motherhacker podcast. Dan represents the 4 of Swords.
4 of Swords is a card about rest, relaxation, rejuvenation, self-protection and peace. A person with this energy is someone who is tired and worn out and they are seeking rest and recuperation, a pause from life’s battles. They need a time out to regain their strength before they go back and face new challenges. This person is in need of prioritizing their mental and emotional health. They might seem to be calm and at rest, relaxed and composed and with an aura of meditative peace. Their presence reflects a detachment from the chaos of everyday life. They are introspective, processing their thoughts and emotions in solitude.
Dan Landry is Bridget’s ex-husband in rehab. He is staying in the rehab facility for a while and all the interactions between them are by phone. Bridget gets a fake call that says Dan is hurt and in the hospital and she calls the facility in despair, but he answers her and tells her she was hacked and no one called her from there. Dan talks to their kids on the phone saying he misses them, then he calls Bridget and asks for more money because he needs to stay in rehab for longer, promising to pay her back. As someone in rehab, he was in need of taking a break from life’s struggles and treat his addiction, to rest and regain his strength and his ability to function and be a good father for his kids. He calls Bridget to also ask her to go to Family Day without the kids, because he seems to want to reconnect with his ex-wife. His voice usually conveys calmness and he appears to be deeply rethinking everything and processing his emotions and whatever happened to him. He does seem upset in the end, but still as a result of his reevaluation process. For these reasons, he is our 4 of Swords.
