July 29, 2021 - Mountain Wagtail, Long-tailed Wagtail, or Grey-backed Wagtail (Motacilla clara)
These wagtails are found along mountain streams and small rivers in forests in parts of sub-Saharan Africa. They eat mostly insects, particularly flies, as well as some aquatic animals, foraging in and around water. Pairs build bulky nests from grass, leaves, rootlets, hair, and other materials, usually in cavities in rocks or stream banks. Females lay clutches of one to four eggs. Both parents incubate the eggs and care for the chicks.
