Unit swap Mafuyu vc now that I'm no longer mentally ill (they are in fact still mentally ill) I'm basically a licenced therapist (they're not) so trust me (don't) when I say you should totally call Honami a dumb bitch who deserves to die

#rat rambles #sekai posting #unit swap au #the main thing abt more close to beginning event stories mafuyu is still kinda opperating under the high of having real friends again and #just feeling a little more hopeful that they might be able to escape from their mom's controling grasp one day #its the most free theyve felt in nearly 2 years so with that comes a bit more confidence #this starts to wear down a bit though as kanade starts to worsen again and they remember their mom still exists #mafuyu is good at reading ppl but rly bad at actually understanding and emphasising with them #they get that second layer angst but nothing past it #so they tend to fill the holes with projection or just dismiss them outright #and for kanade its like 90% projection #unit swap mafuyu's coddlibg of kanade is very different from kanade's attempts of help in canon #mainly because for unit swap mafuyu theyre so invested in kanade because theyre using her in their mind to represent their own growth #not that its all abt themself they do genuinely care abt kanade but it definitely starts to get the better of them at times #so when kanade does expectedly have her really bad days and relapses and such it freaks mafuyu out a lot #mostly because it snaps them back into the reality that kanade is a real person who is suffering from real mental problems #and that while she has improved somewhat its. a fucking snails pace process. mostly because kanade is still operating ubder the idea that #shes the worst human alive and the only thing keeping her here is that plea mafuyu had made #mafuyu only rly starts to recognise that theyre not actually helping as much as they thought they were when confronted by the fact that #kanade is still very much suicidal #meanwhile mizuki is just trying to gague if kanade is still mad at them or not fkgndjr #and ena wants to do more for kanade since she can tell that something happened between her and mafuyu that left mafuyu shaken #but she was never the closest to kanade in the first place so it feels awkward trying to approach her outside of band practice
