Now this is an interesting combination. Being just underage ups his value quite nicely on the dark web, disturbingly, and speaking exclusively a different language when he begs can be a turn on for a lot of buyers. Because of this, Malik isn’t going to let him go to waste too quickly for a single Red Room video, rather he’s going to keep him alive for as long as he’s able to fight.

It’s like a dog fight, but with humans. Shumi is tasked with going up against other Whumpees to literally fight for their life on camera while Malik watches to make sure someone gets their neck slit. Sometimes the pair will be armed with a single kind of weapon (a knife, a hammer, something small and melee), sometimes Malik will set out an array for the opponents to grab and use as they fight, sometimes it’ll just be a bare knuckle brawl in which Shumi needs to bash the other person’s head against the floor until it’s mush. The only way out of this fighting ring is to lose, and if the winner refuses to finish off their opponent, Malik will kill them both.

Since Shumi has fighting experience, he should be able to hold out for the first couple of rounds. But Malik isn’t looking for anything long term and he also doesn’t reward the winners with anything like aftercare/medicine/food. Gradually, Shumi is going to get the shit kicked out of him by someone who’s just as desperate to survive, making each victory weaker and weaker until he’s barely winning by the skin of his teeth. Malik doesn’t lay a hand on him once, letting someone else do the dirty work of shanking Shumi in the side or knocking out a couple teeth with a hammer to the mouth. No matter how hard he tries, one day he’s just going to be too weak. Weak enough for someone else to overpower him and put him out of his misery.
