headcanons for being Derek Morgan's roommate (Criminal Minds)?
Ahhh I love me some Derek. I mean... who doesn’t though? Bearing that in mind, I honestly went the platonic friends with little spicy moments route here. It is what it is, I just really hope you like them!

┎ At first, he did flirt with you a little. This was before you answered the ad for his apartment’s spare room. When you showed up at his door, he joked that it was destiny. You brandished the paper slip you’d torn off the flyer he put up at the bar you + the BAU tends to frequent. “Sorry, it’s more like... A roof over my head. But it’s cute that you believe in destiny, sir.”
-- “Derek. I’m not that old.” - this may have lowkey turned him on just a little though. He’d absolutely die before admitting it, but yeah.
┎ You moved your stuff in later that week. And it didn’t take long at all for the two of you to sort of fall into step with each other, despite your crazy work schedules. One of you or the other always has left overs waiting in the fridge after a long night and there’s always coffee brewing first thing in the morning.
┎ You two have seen each other naked so much by accident now that it really doesn’t even faze either of you anymore. But that first time, whew... You were so rattled / flustered that you nearly bought the entire damn shower down. Which of course only had him tossing you a cocky wink.
┎ You’ve met his team mates. And they seem to be under the impression that sooner or later, you two will make thing official. They don’t realize that you two are basically just two platonic friends who happen to live together and happen to enjoy flirting and testing each other on occasion. JJ is hell bent on there being something going on between you two. It’s hilarious, the amount of times one of them has teased him and he’s merely shrugged it off.
-- but that goes without saying, this is undoubtedly the most STABLE of any kind of relationship you’ve been in. And yeah, Derek pouts and does the intimidating thing when your date shows or he knows you’re getting ready for one. And you do it right back to him. You two depend on each other’s ‘better radar at detecting bullshit people’ when it comes to matters of the heart.
┎ Game night with the team is always fun for at least a dozen laughs. And with you two both being natural born flirts, you’re not really doing anything to discourage your friends ‘thinking’ about you two.
┎ You fight over the radio. A lot. Derek prefers jazz and smoother r&B and you like stuff like The Weeknd or pop.
┎ He is the BEST person to help you deal with sadness of any kind. He likes to snuggle and he’ll gladly do so.. After bringing home a pint of your favorite ice cream and a few of your favorite horror movies. You two love picking apart the plots. Derek also likes to analyze the villians / killers / paranormal entities and you always wind up picking arguments with him in laughter, to ‘test him’, as he puts it.
┎ You’ve almost kissed before but both of you looked at one another and went “NAH.” before laughing and bumping noses just before you pulled away from being so close. Which made it even funnier to you both for some reason.
┎ You steal his clothes anyway. Because you can and you like his dress shirts.

So, I played wayhaven chronicles!! And loved every minute tbh.
I'm gonna try to give it a good review but I'm biased and I love it so it might not be as analytical and detached as it could be.
That said.
It's a text based game where the supernatural exists. This is clear even in the demo.
The rest of my review is long and rambly so I’m putting it under a read more.

You create and customize your MC (main character) as a detective who is under unit bravo's protection. UB being the group of love interests. Their gender varies depending on the sexuality of your detective and their gender. I always play as a bi female detective, so my review is based on that and your experience may differ.
First off, the writing is very good and I felt very drawn into the world of the game, and very much want to know more about it. The relationships between MC and the team, and the members of the team amongst themselves felt very realistic and organic. If you love urban paranormal romance you will probably love this.
Second off, I really liked how the characters were so nuanced. Nate was an absolute sweetheart who had an unexpected suave side, Adam is such an uptight no-nonsense guy who still has a good heart, even if it's heavily guarded, Farah is a sweetie full of sass and life but with vulnerability and I didn't expect to cry over her dammit, and Morgan is, well, very difficult but so very loyal and deeper than you'd think.
All of their routes felt worthwhile to persue, even if the love triangle gave me some guilt twinges, and it was really fun getting to know all of them.
The only nitpicks I have is that there wasn't a lot of actual vampire stuff going on (which was for good plot related reasons but I'm still a bit disappointed) and how hard it is to get through some key combat moments without specifically building your MC for them. My very first MC managed to take down book 1's big bad and I have never managed to do it since, help me.
The rest of my commentary is basically me squeeing like an idiot over various moments of both sweetness and hilarity, since I was so incredibly happy about what a sassy little shit my mc could be. Humor in dark environments is sadly underrated. I’m really really curious about how the romances are going to go, given how close MC can get to them in book 1.
I saw Sera’s comment about how much they love those “almost kiss moments that are always interrupted” and I laughed but after I played the full book 1 I was very much
I see what you’re doing, and from a writer’s perspective I approve but from a player’s perspective I am. Suffering. If there is ONE MORE and I mean ONE MORE moment like that, especially in a certain character’s route, my detective is just gonna say fuck it and drag them in for a kiss no matter who’s watching, lol.
As for as characters go, I actually love Nate so much, I mean, so much, they’re far and away my favorite. However, I’m a contradictory little shit and Adam literally drove me nuts almost the entire game (oh god, I got so frustrated at him, he legit pissed me off sometimes) so he probably earns a mention there since characters that piss me off somehow become either favorites or near favorites I guess because I’m a masochist or something.
Farah is the absolute best too though, since I love her no matter if I’m romancing her or not. Friends or romance, she’s so witty and funny and FUN and I can’t imagine ever playing this game without being on at least somewhat good terms with her. Even if my detective makes almost everyone else hate them, they are at least on somewhat good terms with Farah.
Morgan, well. She’s a prickly lil thing with not a fuck to spare for anyone, and I can kind of respect that. She doesn’t get on my nerves as much as Adam because of that fact. You know what to expect and she more or less delivers. Still, the moments where she does show that she cares mean a lot.
There were a lot of moments from this game that I loved so much (any key romance moment basically) but I’m gonna post a few, just a few so as not to spoil too much, moments that were my favorite outside of the actual romance moments.
I usually play with Farah as, well, Farah, but having this as Felix instead sent my mind into incredibly dirty territory, let me tell you. And I’m sure Felix/Farah would approve.
The whole scene following this quote killed both me and my detective, and I’m not sure whether I should be thanking Sera or not.
I definitely laughed irl at this one. It might be facetious but it’s true, dammit. And I’ll bet Adam and Morgan would hate that I think that, so much.
I love Adam, I really do, but I make sure this happens every time I romance him and there are absolutely no regrets at all, simply because of this comment.
Tbh if you’ve never played this game this single moment is probably the best description of Adam you’ll ever get.
The only other moment that I didn’t get a screenshot of was when I was determined to finally play a detective that was outright just.... freaked out by UB and acted as such after she found out the truth, and the very second Nate showed any signs of being hurt I was just like...
I have made a mistake.
Although tbh when I played Adam’s route I was so so waiting for a moment that he would crack and show how he felt about the detective but when it actually happened I was like
The same for Morgan, really. Man do I have a soft spot for people who only show how much they care in a really dire situation.
I have so many save files for this game, and I’m hype for book 2 already.
#rivi reviews#that's not a tag already but it is now#rivi plays wc#i don't think that's a tag already but whynot#i really do love this game though and i hope anyone who reads this gives it a chance#wayhaven chronicles#i love this game so much omg
