you know what I’ve realized lately? that’s really helped? the axiom: it just doesn’t really make that much of a difference. Or at least it doesn’t when you’re talking about good things and not, like, doing good vs. doing evil. Big choices, little choices, decisions, decisions —it’s not just that they don’t matter in the grand scheme of things—because they do! —but just. It won’t make that big of a difference. Life will continue to be wonderful AND difficult, fascinating AND hopelessly mundane, full of roses AND thorns and all the other cliches whether you walk down one road or another. And you’ll get used to the joys and sick of the sorrows whatever they are, and you’ll be ungrateful and bored and dissatisfied in some measure some of the time and you’ll have to work on all the things you have to work on anyways and just. Yeah! It doesn’t make that big of a difference! Even the biggest things!

in my rewrite melody piper is like a charismatic side character that no one really pays attention to/underestimates. like the side character that stole the show kinda like stiles from teen wolf. but like theres a shock reveal that i wont reveal and basically this chill side character is super mega op.

I'm too lazy to illustrate it (plus I think I'd get too caught up in the process LMFAO) but when drawing/adding personal touches to Lif's design I am channeling Lio Fotia Promare for his armor (ESP the Mad Burnish armor) Lewis Mystery Skulls (less aesthetic similarities reflected but like, kinda similar broad chested body type similar vibes and important heart motifs) (heart motif isn't pictured in this Lewis image but if you've seen the animated music vids you get it) and literally just any 2D animated Disney villain who is Shaped and Dramatic (and has a huge fucking cape or coat -- tbh the specific ones I think about are Maleficent and Cruella just from the dramatic/big cape standpoint, purely aesthetic)

jenny nicholson was so right in her video on the vampire diaries tho. why do none of these characters wear glasses. scratch that, why are vision issues so comparatively rare in media beyond immediate, debilitating blindness for the sake of having a Plot Relevant Disability. you don't even see elderly characters wearing glasses that often like fuck man why does nobody have astigmatism. why does nobody have an unfocused eye. why is nobody colorblind. do you know how common colorblindness is particularly in men. what the fuck

God, I hate undergoing the agonies of having a favorite series adapted because even if its a good adaptation, it'll cement a "vision" of the setting, aesthetic, characters, etc that may not even be a good fit, let alone what I had in my head, and that just becomes "the" associated visual-- i.e. if I want to represent Ned Stark visually and recognizably it has to be GOT's Ned. It's a fucking prison, and the only freedom from it is

a. Lord of the Rings effect, where the books had been out for so long and illustrated so many times by so many people even before it started being considered for film that there are just Myriads of visual representations to choose from, so even if one adaptation's version becomes more recognizable, it's far from the Only Correct Image (especially if it's BAD-- it can easily be rejected for another version)

or b. Witcher effect, where there wasn't a strong visual before it was adapted, but it's been done so many times now (and so distinctly each time) that even people who've never interacted with the source material still all have a different visual version of it rattling around in their head which may have nothing to do with the newest incarnation at all, so you can just start throwing any of the versions out there, everyone'll get it, they'll all be equally dissatisfied, and thus, all somewhat content
