Brick Club 3.6.4, 3.6.5
Continuing the metaphor of love and womanhood as an affliction or a poison, Marius falls under the effect of ‘une grande maladie.’
Marius is performing an act known as “peacocking” except he’s very bad at it. A major part of him is still trying to throw off the effects of this illness.
He makes the utterly baffling claim that, I was the real author of the dissertation on Marcos Obregon de la Ronda, which Francois de Neufchateau has put, as his own, at the beginning of his edition of Gil Blas!” Hmm...a couple of things here. Considering that Neufchateau published his edition of Gil Blas in 1820, when Marius would have been about ten years old, this seems unlikely. Additionally, Marius is a law student and I doubt he’s spending his time writing dissertations about 16th century Spanish poets.
However, while Marius is clearly mistaken, a certain young author and intellectual named Victor Hugo is credited with writing Neufchateau’s Gil Blas preface. In case you needed more evidence that Marius is a young Hugo. This raises more questions than Hugo is willing to answer, all for the sake of a throwaway boast. Does Marius actually believe he wrote that dissertation? In the universe of Les Mis, did he actually write it? At age ten? How much of Victor Hugo himself is diegetic in this world? We know he is narrating this story because of his asides to the reader, but where does that begin and end? In our world, Les Miserables was written by Victor Hugo, but, in the fictional world of Les Mis, could Marius himself have written the novel post-barricade? Answer me, Hugo!
Will Courfeyrac hold nothing sacred? This terrible fellow...
If Marius is spending every day in the Luxembourg, is he no longer going to school or work? Subsisting entirely on the radiant aura of burgeoning attraction?
Cosette is making a name for herself as a manic pixie dream girl, she’s beautiful, but there’s something sad and wild about her. I really want Hugo to lean more into this contradiction Cosette has. She’s still the same girl who endured an unbearable childhood and escaped the city climbing over walls in the middle of the night. She’s a survivor! And understanding her through that lens is much more interesting than the naive pretty girl trope she’s often forced into.
#brickclub#les mis#3.6.4#3.6.5#more knowledgeable commentary on ch 4 is welcome#as is to be expected i lost the narrative thread of the chapter in favor of hyperfocusing on a single line#anyways im drinking that respect cosette juice!#why is everyone always so desperate to make eponine have all these layers at the expense of cosette!#(you know why)

Yeah. . . I'm not even gonna briefcap that
What did we learn?
I'm not interested in watching Uncle Grandpa
Steven can summon his shield when he wants to protect his family
Amethyst looks uber cool in them sunglasses
** And So On To The List Of Lists **
Consolidated lingering Questions
The Gems:
Where do they come from? I now know they are not from Earth, they are from somewhere in spaceHomeworld, further away than our ocean can get in a 30 foot (10ish meters) diameter cylinder from the ocean floor.
How is power derived from them?
What about the gemmed enemies? the monsters used to be humanoid, how does that work, why??
What are Amethyst's unique Powers? Ball-rolling. Fire attack? Uses shapeshifting more.
During Ocean Gem it is mentioned by Lapis Lazuli that the only thing the Crystal Gems care about is Earth, but Pearl showed her complete disdain for humans on multiple occasions particularly Keep Beach City Weird where she said humans were insignificant. . . . so what about Earth do they care about so much? Pearl, at the very least, doesn't care about humans or Earth. She's only here because she was following Rose. Amethyst was born here.
What’s the deal with Amethyst’s strange relationship with gravity? seriously, did this just go away?
Who all can fuse? Pearl and Amethyst = Opal and Amethyst and Garnet = Sugilite and Garnet and Amethyst and Pearl = Alexandrite and Steven and Connie = Stevonnie
How old are each of them? It’s suggested that they’re centuries millennia old. Amethyst acts a bit like a teenager. Is she that much younger than Pearl? Where does Garnet fall? Pearl and Garnet are more than 5000 years old, probably much older. Why is Steven the only boy? Amethyst is around 4 to 5000 years old. Due to his dad's age and the fact that his dad is human, Steven must be less than 20. Based on his relationship with Connie, I'm gonna put his age at around 12.
How many boy gems are there everywhere?
Why did the Gems destroy the Galaxy Warp? It seemed like Pearl wanted to go home during Space Race, but she obviously can't deal with any possible relations with the other Gems in Warp Tour.
What happened between the Gems from the homeworld and the Crystal Gems? There's gotta be a HUGE backstory here. . . .
Does all that Crystal Gem vs Home Gem battle have anything to do with Rose's decision to create Steven?
The World:
Everything seems to be happening in Beach City. Are there other Gems in other towns? Like every town has a team of Crystal Gems protecting it? Or is this town some center for universal negativity, so the Gems are focused here? It seems pretty obvious that the Crystal Gems are the only ones on Earth. . . They stated no one else on Earth can use the warp pads.
Why on Earth are the Crystal Gems on Earth?
Where did Lion take Steven and Connie for training? To Rose's Armory Is that place, or a similar one, available to all gems? There's been no evidence of other Gems having similar places. Do you need a familiar to take you there? Apparently not. Pearl can take you there. How does Lion know the way? It's pretty obvious that Lion was sent to Steven by his mom. . . but still not understanding his powers and knowledge
Warp Pads. . . . Galaxy Warp. How did the Galaxy warp get here? Why is it here? Why is it broken? The Galaxy Warp is the only warp pad on Earth that leads off Earth. So it's obvious why it is here. I'm thinking the Crystal Gems broke the Galaxy Warp to avoid dealings with the other Gems. . . BUT WHY?
The House on the Beach:
This is more a curiosity, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the fight that took off that statue’s hands. I bet it involved Sugilite.
What is up with the living temple inside the house? Beating hearts, waterfalls, a pool for getting rid of evil spirits, a holodeck run by the imagination, dimensional shenanigans. Need much more history and understanding here.
Townies:
What’s up with Onion and his dad? Are they from some other planet?
Why would you make a place called Fish Stew Pizza?
What would make one believe a potato can provide protection from a multi-dimensional being. .. . also, are the Gems multi-dimensional? I don't see that.
Rose Quartz:
Why does Rose have to die to give Steven his superpowers?
Is Rose even dead? _pretty sure this is answered_ (-doubts-)
What would make her choose that? a prophesy? desire to give Greg a kid? gonna die anyway?
Did she give up her gem to HAVE a kid or to IMBUE a kid with the gem? My current theory is that the gem is a being that creates a physical form, and that Rose stopped being Rose in order to be Steven (sorta) as I think Rose is still part of the gem (not dead). So essentially Rose's physical form is gone, replaced by Steven's physical form.
Would removing the gem from Steven give Rose back her form, leaving Steven as a common human 12-year-old?
Lion:
What all does Lion know? How did he get his powers? He's a creation of Rose's, so she gave him his powers. He might even still be connected to her somehow.

Not a fan of the important role junk food plays in the show not as prevalent as it was before
I don’t relate to Steven much. He mostly annoys me. He's getting a bit more lovable. . . now it's Pearl that just really rubs me the wrong way (Probably because she thinks humans are insignificant).

Likes
I like that all the answers to everything are not conveniently packaged in a single episode
I like Garnet…
and sometimes Amethyst…
Steven's constant struggle to figure out how to fit into his place in the Gems and complete lack of struggle to feel right at home with the humans. . .
I like Greg and his super awesome van
I like that it seemed like we landed in the middle of a life, rather than the beginning of a story… this continues to be true through every episode.
I like most of the townspeople and their relationships with Steven
I like Connie a lot. She is funny and smart and a perfect non-super for the story.
I like arcade games…
I like that there are so many details in the background like everywhere…
and it’s obvious the creators are nerds
I like Sour Cream
I like the representation of emotions related to motherhood that each of the Gems go through in their own ways.
I like that the makers of the show know what customer service is like. Either that or they have really disturbing imaginations.
I like that the show encourages people to think critically and discuss large questions.
I like that there is a whole dark seedy side that I’m only just peeking into.
Shh. . . Don't tell anyone. . . I also like Peridot She seems like a misunderstood geek girl just saying
I just want to remind everyone, I write these recaps after having only seen the episode once, a week ago, and often interrupted by my whole blogging thing. I mainly do it for myself to refresh my memory for the next episode, but since I post it, I thought I should ask your forgiveness if it isn’t exactly perfect (or even close). Don’t forget if you have a submission for artwork for today’s episode, submit before Friday using the link above, and I’ll pick one to use as the cover art.

Praise the Lord! I welcome all on this platform to hear the word of God and be blessed.
Let us Pray: Gracious Father we come before thy throne in Jesus Name and we thank you for this moment you gave us to hear and learn from your word. Help us to understand your word and be blessed. In Jesus’ Name I pray…Amen.
TOPIC - SCRIPTURE MEMORIZATION
Memorizing Scripture is as an excellent strategy for spiritual growth. It allows you to have gospel truths ready at all times, whether your day brings you temptation, heartache or a friend in need of encouragement.
Scripture also helps you abide in–or stay deeply rooted in-Christ, which Jesus tells us is the key to having Kingdom impact in this world (John 15:5).
Today, let us answer some of the questions like, Who should memorize the Scripture? Why should we memorize the Scripture? What Scripture should we memorize? When should we memorize? How do you memorize? What are the Steps to memorizing more Scripture?
The Hebrew word for ‘meditate’ is ‘murmur’- in a low tone of voice until becomes implanted on your mind and this is what the Jews did day and night. They meditated on the law of God. The law of God is contained in the first five books of the Bible that are written by Moses. They are Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Leviticus and Deuteronomy.
Psalm 119:11 – “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You”
Hiding (Keeping) God’s word in our hearts is deterrent to sin. This alone should inspire us to memorize Scripture. But memorization alone will not keep us from sin, we must also put God’s word to work in our lives, making it a vital guide for everything we do.
Psalm 119:23b – Your servant meditates on Your statues.
All believers should be memorizing God’s word. God’s laws were given to free us to be all he wants us to be. They restrict us from doing what night cripple us and keep us from being our best. God’s guidelines help us to follow his path and avoid paths that lead to destruction.
Colossians 3:16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly….
The Church of Colossae did not have the Bible so they were dependent on memorizing God’s word. They had to hide God’s word in their hearts.
The famous English Proverb says, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. Likewise someone said, “A chapter a day keeps the devil away”. Therefore, everyone who knows the Lord must memorize the Scripture.
2. Why should we memorize the Scripture?
There are 12 reasons to why we memorize the Scripture.
i. Memorize scripture to be successful
Joshua 1:8 - This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Whatever you do will come to maturity if you memorize the scripture and meditate on it. Your family life will be blessed, your spiritual life will be blessed, you will be happy, peaceful and contented.
God told Joshua that to succeed he must obey the rules for living found in God’s laws. Obedience to what God has revealed in the scriptures is the only sure step we can take. We need to set aside time to read God’s word and meditate upon it day and night. Act today on what you know God has said, and God will assure your success in carrying out his purposes.
ii. Memorizing Scripture will convict us of sin which leads to sinning less.
Psalm 119:11 - “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You”
Memorizing God’s word will keep us away from sin.
Psalm 37:31- The law of his God is in his heart;
None of his steps shall slide.
God’s law will keep your steps from slipping.
iii. We should memorize scriptures because God’s word has power to change our life
Hebrews 4:12 - For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
God’s word has power. Yours and mine don’t have power. The power of God word will penetrate the core of our moral and spiritual life. It will discern the good and the evil within us. God’s word has the power to shape our lives.
iv. We should memorize scripture because it is commanded of us
Deuteronomy 6:6-7 - “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up.
Every scripture is to be memorized as it is God who has commanded it. We have to write it on our hearts and also get it inside our children.
v. We should memorize scripture because of the examples of saints
In the New Testament we have a man of God who memorized the scriptures.
Acts 7: 1-53 – We read in this chapter that Stephen gives 1000 years of Israel’s history.
Also we note that both the Old and the New testament writers always quoted Scripture.
vi. Memorizing scripture will transform our mind
Romans 12:1-2 - I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
When we memorize the scriptures and place our life before God, he will bring the best out of us and develop a well formed maturity in us. This transformation will come only when we renew our minds through the word of God. God will transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.
vii. Memorizing scripture will enable you to be a better counselor
Psalm 119: 97-100 – God’s word makes you wise – wiser than our enemies and the teachers who ignore it. Wisdom comes from allowing God’s teachings to guide us.
viii. Memorizing scripture will keep you from error
Matthew 22:29 – You do err because you don’t know the scripture.
Memorizing scripture will keep us from giving way to false teachers and their false teaching.
ix. Memorizing scripture will increase your love and knowledge of God
1 John 5:2 – 3 - By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.
Apostle John is measuring our love for God by the obedience to His word.
Read the word of God over and over again because you have fallen in love with the author.
x. We should memorize scripture because it will comfort us in our afflictions
Psalm119:50 –This is my comfort in my affliction,
For Your word has given me life.
Days of persecution will come when your Bible, your cell phone may be taken away. Do you know enough of the word that will comfort you in your affliction.
xi. We should memorize scripture to help our spiritual growth
1 Peter 2:2 - as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby,
When we will desire the pure milk of God’s word we will grow up mature and whole in God.
xii. Memorizing scripture will help us in our old age
Isaac Watts great hymn writer said this : As we get old our brain shrinks and get harder from lack of use and the best therapy for the brain is memorizing – the word of God.(Scripture).
3. What Scripture should we memorize?
2 Timothy 3:16 - All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,
All Scripture is God given and worth memorizing.
Suggestions:
• Memorize whatever the Bible teacher is teaching.
• Memorize small scriptures example: Psalms then go on with the epistles.
• If you have depression, memorize Psalms 42
• If you have problem loving people, memorize 1 Corinthians 13
• If you have anxiety, worry, fear, memorize Mathew 6
• If you gossip, slander, anger, memorize James 3, Psalm 34:8
• When you use random scriptures make sure you know the context of that scripture.
4. When should we memorize?
Joshua said meditate day and night. The Psalmist said in Psalms 1:2 to meditate God’s word day and night. Therefore, do it when doing your house work, travelling, etc. Do it anytime.
5. How to memorize the scripture?
The more we do it , the More it becomes a habit.
Steps to memorize more scripture:
a) Pick an area of gospel truth you are motivated to understand deeply. You can also pick up your favorite book of the Bible.
[8/5, 9:27 PM] 01019 CH W Savita Manwani: b) Dig into the context:
• Find the verse in your Bible and read the paragraph before and after it.
• Use this context to gain a clear understanding of what the verse means. You may want to read the verse in other Bible translations or consult a commentary.
• Read the verse through several times thoughtfully, aloud or in a whisper. This will help you grasp the verse as a whole. Each time you read it, say the topic, reference, verse, and then the reference again out loud.
• Discuss the verse with God in prayer, and ask for His help memorizing Scripture.
c) Memorize in bite-sized pieces
• Memorize the topic and reference first.
• Next, memorize only the first phrase of the verse. Once you can recite the topic, reference and first phrase from memory several times, continue to add each additional phrase, one by one.
• Consider why each word was selected as you memorize it.
• Think about ways the verse applies to you and your daily circumstances.
• Writing the verse out can be helpful. This deepens its impression in your mind.
d) Review with friends
• Review the verse immediately after learning it, incorporate it into your prayers, and repeat it frequently over subsequent days to others. This step is crucial for fixing the verse firmly in your mind because we tend to forget things recently learned.
• Invite a friend to memorize with you! Set a time each week to check in and review verses. In just ten minutes you can give each other enough accountability to grow by leaps and bounds in your love for God and knowledge of His Word.
• Review! Review! Review! Repetition is the best way to engrave the verses on your memory.
Things to Remember:
1) Don’t do scripture memorization when you are tired or distracted or when you are going through a deep crisis. It doesn’t work when your mind is not alert.
2) Stick to the same translation or else it will be very confusing.
3) If you have trouble memorizing, then find some creative ways to learn – may be you can put it through music.
4) Keep it in mind that this is God’s word and not any other word on a page.
Method:
Do cards, stickers, etc. Put it on a recording device in your voice and read it as fast as you can. Why so fast? They have proven statistically that your brain picks up things easier if you listen to something with a fast speed instead of a slow speed.
Copy the page out of your Bible and carry it wherever you go and read.
When you get a chapter/Book memorize and review it every day for 30days. Say it out loud
Remember, memorized Scripture allows you to dwell continuously on a passage throughout the day. Passages memorized often bring a sense of “ownership”; a passage feels like it “belongs” to you after you have it memorized.
Followers of God have a long rich history of memorizing Scripture. From the time that the first books of the Bible were written, people have been memorizing Scripture in order to help them live faithfully.
It is clear that Jesus memorized Scripture from the fact that he so often quoted Scripture when he was talking to others. Both the Old and New Testament authors consistently quote Scripture. Do you know someone who consistently memorizes Scripture? Ask what it has meant to his or her spiritual growth. Chances are high that you’ll get a glowing testimony!
Allow me to end here. God bless everyone in this group.

grade calculator weighted percentages
Students with participant music are solon apt to do fine in indifference acquisition, which requires more endeavour on their attempt than the characteristic room. To blackbeard students with avoidant style, corroborate how how to figure out your semester grade the physical module goodness them in their own lives. a grouping of cooperative foregather norms and grad roles aids teachers in their delegation of soul. This scheme supports the transformed role of the teacher and of the students during small-group substance. Suchlike the teachers, students beggary to take how to adjust to relegating of someone. New distance of interacting with their peers demand new norms of activeness. The norms that teachers bestow in students as they collaborate in runty groups person to do with allowing students to attend as educator, communication, or other serious resources for one other. The honorable to request resource and the tariff to cater it is one of the freshman norms students impoverishment to discover. They also require to learn how to take structural conversations in pocketable groups by justifying their arguments and by explaining how, rather than by doing the occupation for someone added. As mentioned above, in pedagogy these norms, we misused a serial of skillbuilding exercises (see Cohen, 1994). Applying the principles of multiethnic final grade calculator formula theory (Bandura, 1977), the Maneuver students were granted opportunities to distinguish the new behaviors, to drill them, and to get feedback that improved learning of norms. Attractive instance in every conference of the freshman three weeks of the teaching, we were fit to acquire around and pattern six opposite power builders. All the pupil teachers now processed their own sets of power builders and galore of them were competent to use them with their utmost edifice students. Without omission, they were eager to distribute the results of their enquiry with their classmates. They also according that more cooperating teachers who were using small-group statement welcomed this functional and close share of their pupil teachers. At the indication of the midquarter way evaluations, the Travel teachers irresistibly rated the skill-building exercises as the most straightaway utile (and œfun) attempt of the course. Theme introducer Issue condemn Developer 1 Developer 2 Modulator Developer 3 Developer 4 Terminator/restatement time Bloodsucking refers to the student’s final exam score name whereby students who have this communication see the teacher as a seed of collection, essential to be told calculate what grade you need to do, and discover only what is required. The word ˜employability™ is increasingly used in procession mentation contexts. It is misused to present the meld of refer knowledge; subject-specific, generic and careermanagement skills; and own qualities, values and motivations that module improve a alumnus clear fit business and accomplish effectively throughout their progression. The openhearted of soul who provides substantive expertise and skills to the forgather. Adds a jock magnitude but can be single-minded and may not decline fools fain. Thought and overplanning are added kinds of displacement expression. Though planning is biogenic, there is the danger of overplanning: try to reach the ethical equilibrise between provision and fruitfulness. If the come signaling of motion tasks or the time that you apportion to them is preventing you from making factual progress with your studies, then maybe you essential to sort rigorous decisions near minute management (Ch 8). Since so such message is disposable time, through galore contrastive media, the valuation of evidence, accumulation and opinions has beautify a core attainment. This chapter will provide you believe the lineage of assemblage and ideas, the reliability of sources, and differences between fact, message and statement. Umteen institutions try to render first-time students the chance to live in a corridor of abode. Here you testament directly jazz the potential, within a very nobble case, to jibe a diverse capableness of new group, and gift ofttimes resilient in finishing contact with students from diametrical backgrounds. Tho' most accommodation offices try to ˜match™ people in students take significant discernment of the conjectural definitions, the existential findings, and the working implications of relegating of authorisation, their choices of the various media echolike the fact that they were fit to learning their understanding to different situations and contexts. Piece a dinky magnitude of students wrote œtraditional essays, most students chose deciding ways to express their inclination. Students™ pass ranged from poems, odes, songs, momentary stories, and children™s stories, rook plays, letters (to the dealer, to parents, and to students), and a unscheduled edition of the Stanford Daily press, to posters, semipolitical cartoons, collages, dioramas, 3-D models, ikon books, recording clips, and a web-page. Students see, performed, and showcased their play in confront of the form. Although I had not conceived to do so when constructing the syllabus (mainly because I had not expected these responses), we agreed to devote a complete weighted grade calculator phase to enjoying the students™ presentations. In their closing rating of this class, a number of students commented that one of the most worth experiences was the opportunity to select a personally engaging mode of language to play the assignments for the way. They realized that one could demonstration œsmarts and inclination in more various slipway. Sheldon™s river is a best representation of such a graduate creation. Here is attempt of his commentary: I hump choson to use a airborne to transpose my œDelegation of Person: Me and My Schoolroom. I am using this metaphor for a enumerate of reasons. The pedagogue is at the top and in realism has the eventual individual over all the students. But this is not plain to us at front spring. Each gather does materialize to be individual and screw soul over themselves. We don™t see a candid connector to the teacher™s person. It is exclusive when we sensing intimately at the groups that we see the intellection and originate that to the pedagogue who is finally activity them and guiding them. The legerdemain the pedagogue staleness behave is to hit the farthest individual but not form this transparent. In the end the students hold keep over what they do and the production they make. Apiece assemble is prefab up of disparate monochrome M&M™s to state a culturally diverse room. Whatever M&M™s are on individual strings and whatsoever are on curtal section within their groups to tell the highand low-status students.
