Ok so, hello, new Ordem Paranormal fan here, I'm not Brazillian so I apologize if any of my questions are stupid, and if you do not want to/don't have the answer to any of my questions, I will not be offended. I've just finished O Segredo Na Floresta (That ending man...fuck) and while I know some spoilers from later campaigns, I generally don't know the context around them. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, I have way too many questions, so feel free to pick and choose. 1. I've noticed that the artist between the second and third campaign changes, or at least I think that's the case because the styles are incredibly different. I'm assuming that it's because Cellbit wanted more realism, but I was curious if that was it or not because I can't really find anything on my own (the wiki, sadly, doesn't seem to have pages for the artists :() (I'm just curious about this, I like both art styles) 2. Have you ever had a llonguet or coxhina? Not entirely related to Ordem Paranormal but they mentioned those foods a few times so I was curious as to how good they were, they both look good tbh 3. It only gets worse from here doesn't it. (This next question is more so Desconjuracao and Calamidade than either of the ones I've watched) 4. I know about the relics, do they all work differently? I mean, yeah they do but like, the human in that body dies when they take over, right? But like, can they make the body immortal or does the body still age? I assume not with the God of Death because...yeah just saw that, but it could still decompose I guess. Idk, the relics fascinate me and I'm really excited for Desconjuracao to get translated 5. How many times does the system change? Because the first campaign was a d6 system, the second is a d100 system, but the wiki says Ordem Paranormal is a d20 system. Does it get more finalized by Desconjuracao? Or will it take til Calamidade for me to see the current system? I'm really hoping the rulebook gets translated someday, I'd love to play or gm, and I'm curious as to what campaign would be a good reference for what it might be like. 6. Do you have a favorite character? I don't have many people to talk Ordem Paranormal in depth with so I'm curious as to what other fans opinions are. Also, are there any characters that generally people really dislike? 7. Not sure if you read fanfics or comics, but do you have any you'd recommend? Even if it's for later campaigns I could put it on the backburner, I'd love to see more fanworks than what I've found on my own Ok so, that's a lot so I'll stop asking stuff for now, thank you so much for letting me ramble hahaha

1- well you are a minority because people really hate the old artist (Rafael da Hq) well it was changed because the new artist (Orenjiro) did beutiful fanart and cellbit decided that he would do the art for ordem ever since! (Minus o segredo na ilha, that was bonees), but the main reason why the fandom does not talk is because he did tracing and was exposed for pedophilia, also i did not know that there wasn’t any wiki pages for the artists like what? They maybe will do some soon!

2- because of your grammar i unfortunaly dont know what you ment by what you ment by llounguet but i already had many coxinhas in my life lol, they are a pretty popular "salgado" (salty food) and i really like it, the ones filled with chicken are the best (i mean its pretty rare a coxinha be anything BUT filled with chicken but WHAT EVER), i hope you get to taste coxinha, is pretty good

3- Oh honey, you didn’t even get to see the worst deaths in ordem paranormal history lol

4- i mean you won’t get much about the calamity relics since they are more important in calidade but basicly the human body that the relic is inhabiting dosen't age and is pretty much imortal (unless other relic kills it) bur when the human body of the relic dies, they just poof like the human body dosen't exist anymore and they go to another human to continue doing their elements Jobs

5- Oh honey the only season that they play 100% from the ordem paranormal rpg rulebook is sinais do outro lado, this system had a fuck ton of changes and rewrites especially because the comunity was very involved in it

6- Oh i have a bunch of them but my main favs are liz and my baby joui 💜, so the fandom is fascinating because the character can be very loved with a very toxic fanbase but also very hated with a bunch of toxic haters (joui's case lol) but most of the time the really hated character's are from the villans side, mainly npc's but this hatred is generely only really prevelent for character's with players when the season is airing yk? But for me is kinda hard to tell witch character is the most hated for all fandom because it really depends on your fandom circle because is pretty commun to get a bunch of comments of "OMG WHY DO YOU HATE THIS CHARACTER" for pretty much evey character in ordem

7- about fanfics... i unfortunaly don’t have much recomendations because i do not read much ordem fanfics (especially because the fandom is kinda dead right now and all ordem ficwritters became spiderbit/guapoduo ficwritters) well the fanprojects are kinda dead right now unfortunately, but there is official comics of ordem paranormal that adapt the first season and the first part of season 2 translated to english that you can buy it officially in e-book form! I also have a project for myself in adapt ordem seasons in manga form (and rewrite some stuff that dosen't make sanse) and make a silly self indulgent fanfic adding two oc's of mine as character's living the happy horror's that is the ordem paranormal universe, but i little idvice if you want to see ordem content

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

I mean, apart form the fact that I *usually* default to oneshots anyway... I tend to just start writing and wait for the story to unfold, but I have recently noticed that it does make writing easier to have, like, a general outline of the fic, so I'm currently experimenting with more planning and stuff.

Hmmm, I think I'll go with Mondphasen by @pointwhitmark (yes, it's a series, shhh), you're pulling the trigger all wrong by @crazy-walls as always, and anything i haven't got by @wodkapudding. Very much a Momentaufnahme, might be different tomorrow.

12. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

Hm. Not feedback doesn't affect me *that* much tbh, it's always a bit sad, but I *do* mostly write for myself and like. Probably couldn't stop if I tried. But receiving feedback on something does have a good chance of inspiring me to write more - sometimes something similar, sometimes just in general. But if you (general you) want more fic of a certain kind out of me, commenting on existing stuff in the same direction is probably the best way to go.

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Well, there's A Lot of age difference stuff, quite some sexual-relationship-without-romance, but someone did recently open my eyes to the fact that I also write a fair bit of "sexual relationship where one part is in love/has a crush, but the other holds them at arm's length" and I know exactly why that is and we're not getting into that here. But also, I'm lowkey convinced people could recognise my fic from my beloved "gelinde gesagt" alone xD

24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?

Can't really remember anything specific. Maybe the evergreen "never use said" which is terrible advice really.

40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

I mean. I already got some stunning artworks for out of hell (here & here), which would be my #1. But I think the Noir AU or the snooker fic could also be really fun to have something visual for? Just. Good-looking men in nice suits with very specific vibes xD

woo let's go. new blog! created this mostly so i dont spam my main with stuff most gringos haven't even heard about lol

so as anyone who's talked to me for 2 minutes irl knows... i watch a lot of novelas. like a lot. specially when working all-nighters... i usually get through a lot of storylines pretty quickly (i can hit 20+ episodes in a night easy, healthy? idk... but there's just something about melodrama that hits The Right Chemicals in my brain, esp during Deadline Crunch Time). but, i'm usually someone that likes to analyze and criticize the stuff i watch, and it's usually pretty frustrating to not have anywhere to put those thoughts (besides the after mentioned off-topic spam on main), i also feel this medium is kinda under-scrutinized, even by "professional critics" (who are usually, tbh, pretty baseline in their analysis), so, hence this blog. expect takes / opinions / analysis just general comments on novelas i'm currently watching. maybe some gifsets reblogs here and there when i catch those rare fish, maybe some fanart if im really in the mood... in general tho i'm extremely busy w/ other projects (fandom projects included) so expect this blog to be rlly informal and "train of thought"- ish. sorta like ur personal broadcast of my internal monologue from injecting 200+ hours of melodrama into the brain. .... so, what to expect? currently i'm going through: 1- a viagem (the 90s globo remake, am at chapter 61 of 167)

Aforementioned long ask post please excuse me while i try to figure out tumblr's new text editor. I’ll get into the art meme questions first and then the rest at the end.

Ok first of all thank you all for sending in questions! Giving me an excuse to talk hehe. I’ll address these in number order. Here’s a link to the ask meme for reference but also I’ll restate the question for ease of reading.

1. When did you get into art?

Super cliche answer but I don’t remember a time where I WASN’T the weird art kid! I started keeping a dedicated sketchbook when I was about 12? But here’s a page from my kindergarten journal about what I want to be when I grow up.

2. What art-related sites have you ever signed up for? 

LOL this is a weird question. Not sure why so many people want to know. Anyways I definitely had a dA. more than one dA account. I used to browse oekakis when I was a kid but I think I was only signed up to some small ones that internet friends owned. What else...? Mangabullet,Tegakie, Paintberri, iscribble back when that was a thing, instagram if that COUNTs, I used to post art on livejournal and dreamwidth too. Patreon, I guess. Gumroad, inprnt, bigcartel, storenvy all for selling stuff.

In terms of resources.. I have a schoolism account that I’m sharing with friends. Used to take classes on coursera for free. I signed up to textures.com for work recently haha. I can’t remember if I ever had an account on posemaniacs. Did they have accounts...? I definitely used to visit all the time.

3. Show us your oldest piece of art you have on hand.

Alright here’s me actually logging into my old deviantart account. These are from September 2008 So I was 13 years old. I don’t have a deviantart account from before then because 13 was the required age for having an account and I didn’t want to lie about my age because I wanted people to be impressed by how young yet clearly incredible at art I was LOL.

4. What defines your artistic style?

You guys are probably more equipped to answer this than me but uh... I wanna say... Focus on colors. And... a slightly heavy hand? Like confident... not always well-considered mark making HAH...

Also I think I have a pretty healthy mix of american comics/manga influences. I feel like people who are into american comics always think my art is too manga and people who are into anime/manga always think my art is too american. And I’m taking that as a good sign.

5. Do you practice other styles/have you tried other styles in the past?

I like to think I switch it up a bunch! I mean, these are pretty different, right?

I think I’ve mentioned this before but one thing I really took away from art school is that, for an illustrator at least, art style shouldn’t be consistent. Your greatest weapon is changing the aspects of your style based on the task, the emotions and message you want to illustrate etc. So depending on the project I’m working on, the fandom I’m drawing for, whether I want something to be funny or serious or dramatic, I’ll change things about my style all the time.

One thing I don’t rly post on here is really tight polished work and that’s because I do that for my day job haha. If you’re not paying me... I’m probably not gonna color in the lines.

6. What levels of artistic education have you had?

I have a whole ass diploma LOL. Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration. from the Rhode Island School of Design. And I had a great college experience tbh. Besides the student loans. If any of you guys are thinking about art school feel free to e-mail or message me questions or concerns, I’ll be happy to help. Be as honest as I can be.

8. What is your favourite piece that you have done?

Well, obviously this is gonna change all the time and generally it’s gonna be my most recent piece LOL. So yeah, why the hell not. I’ll say it’s this one. I have a pretty short memory which I count as a blessing for an artist. I don’t dwell that long on older work and it keeps me moving forward.

10. What do you like most about your art?

I like that it’s something that only I would make! I had this thought fairly recently and I wrote it down in my sketchbook, it’s pretty cheesy and rambling but it felt revolutionary at the time:

So yeah. I like my art best when it’s the most me and for me. And I like it least when it feels like I’m just making something for social media or for other people’s expectations or whatever.

14. What do you like drawing the most?

Kids in baggy clothing are like my go-to LOL idk if that’s obvious. but also I like being challenged so lately I’ve really loved drawing multi-character compositions, environments, weird angles, etc.

oh i LOVE drawing the underside of shoes lol. And bandages. People that are kinda beat up.. I think it comes from getting a bunch of cuts all the time. I’m always patching myself up and I want to patch characters up too.

15. What do you like drawing the least?

mmm I try to find something to like in every drawing but lets see... I don’t like doing commissions of people’s dogs. Just because it’s normally like... a family friend and my mom volunteered me without my consent and I don’t even really know what they’re expecting me to draw and I don’t even get to meet the dog. Also I’m not that great at dog anatomy. Trying to learn though.

18. What is your purpose for drawing?

This could have a million answers! Uhhh to GIT GOOD??? But also to express myself... and also to make money... I mean it depends on what the drawing IS. I draw fanart mostly to connect to people in the fandom so if you ever see me drawing fanart please take it as like an open invitation to talk to me about the character haha. 

20. How would you rank your art? (poor, mediocre, good, etc.)

Good!!! I have a lot of self-confidence primarily born out of ignorance and a short attention span. If I don’t think too hard about how many other artists are mindblowingly unfathombly good... its easy to think I’m good too! LOL

In all seriousness though, I think the opinion a person has of their art is like a crazy balancing act, right? Like you have to think you suck enough to want to get better but also you have to think you’re good enough to not want to give up. I think we’re all walking that line, I know I am! But also I’m a glass half-full type of person so. Most of the time I feel good about it.

22. List at least one of your “artspirations.”

This is a good question because I’ve been trying and failing to put together one of those “influence map” memes for like a full month now. What’s giving me a hard time is I feel like none of these are actually really obvious “““influences”““ in my art? Like it’s hard to see a lot of them in the work I make...? But idk maybe you guys’ll see what I can’t.

And these are just a couple! God there’s so many more. I could talk about other artists for ages, from all different genres of art. Daumier, Rockwell like every illustrator out there, Dana Gibson, Alex Toth, Hiroshi Yoshida, a lot of the Brandywine School. Lots of current working artists too, Karl Kerschl, frikkin Masashi Kishimoto lol, Jake Wyatt, Richie Pope, Edouard Caplain, Matt Cook, Sachin Teng, - lots of big internet artists, Sophie Li, Freddy Carrasco, Milliofish, Angela Sung... like all my friends from art school too. I could just keep going but I’ll stop for now lol.

24. Do you have a shameful art past? (recolour sprite comics, tracing art, etc.)

I mean if that’s how we’re defining shameful?? sure LOL. It’s not sprite comics but I used to do pokemon sprite recolors all the time. And I used to trace manga panels and color them... Granted this was all when I was like under 12 yrs old so it’s not even embarrassing. Can you really call it shameful when a 7 year old wets the bed or whatever? Not really. In fact some of these are cool as fuck. Look

25. Draw a picture!

I used to get a lot of compliments for drawing people smiling lol but I don’t think I’ve drawn a lot of smiling lately.. here’s proof I’ve still got it.

I think a lot of artists on social media talk about the struggle of making art but imo not enough people talk about the joy! Like I know it’s corny but. I really meant what I said at the beginning of that sketchbook about re-contextualizing art around process and progress > product and perfection. I think its super important..! The strength of messy, unfinished, and energetic art! For the feeling of it, for the love it!

Hi! I totally have the answer for digital stuff on my faq lol. But in terms of drawing on paper.. it varies! I tend to use sketchbooking and any on-paper doodling I do as a way to loosen up/warm-up or experiment. But right now my go-to aresenal is:

not EXACTly sure which inking you referring to from my sketchbook but if I had to take a guess it'd probably be the kuretake no55. That's been my main inker, lately. Great for sketching with the thin end too.

When I started shipping them: around 2012 I saw fanarts on DA and become curious why they look like that and what is their story so I snooped in this trash can called Bleach

My thoughts: the point where their story ends is just a beginning, he just realized what she mean to him and she forgive the fuckery he just did (this is how I interpret "are you afraid?. As" can you forgive the horrible things I did? ") and it makes this relationship so interesting and sad. There's so many scenarios that you can play with. Also there's a lot to explore about their time together in LN since the unmasked confirmed what we saw aren't all of their interactions.

What makes me happy about them: They cared about each other and he, a being that is not supposed to /don't want to let himself have feelings, loved her

What makes me sad about them: he's dead and just evaporated from her memories, his death meant nothing for her character development (bc Kubo quote "likes her how she is" congrats man you just confirmed you don't know shit about writing) and she's just an incubator for next generation of this wank and not a character

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: using violence, taking shit Ulquiorra said to other arancars seriously, Orihime still being a damsel in distress, Ulquiorra using medical/scientific terminology but also him being totally ignorant of human world

Things I look for in fanfic: I hadn't read fanfics in years tbh and around 2014 I read pretty much everything on ff.org and most of ao3 so at that point existing was everything I was looking for

My wishlist: Ulquiorra getting killed by zanpaktou so he can be reborn and meet her again / being healed by Orihime who makes her own decisions and stopped giving fuck/Orihime actually remember him, says his name instead of vague "I don't want to see any more arancars die" shit/ Ulquiorra coming back to roast the cursed outfit ("surprisingly it doesn't suit you" please i would fucking die)

How I feel about this character: making the cool analitical character extremely emotionally unstable is very interesting idea. His feelings are justified but his actions especially toward his friends aren't. Tho I like how realistic pushing friends away from himself is and how all his trauma and problems does not go away just because he has friends who can use talk no jutsu to make him turn 180° and just stop his auto destruction like that.

how exactly do you cope with or respond to fandoms that just seem overall incredibly unsupportive/close minded? like there's certain works that I'm into, but sometimes, the fandom just isn't my cup of tea and I don't know what to do

I’ve been in like...a couple of toxic fandoms in the past. One became toxic over a period of time, for a short period of time, due to specific BNFs in the fandom (that would be Rise of the Guardians about 6 years ago - it’s not like that anymore and hasn’t been for a long time, I wouldn’t have been able to write TGATNW otherwise I think), and the other was Dragon Age. I mean there are other fandoms I’m in like Steven Universe and Voltron that are obviously famous for being super toxic, but aside from looking at fanart and the occasional fic, I’m not very involved and so it’s easy to avoid. 

Honestly, re: the ‘how do you cope’ I just ignore it? Like, the Detroit: Become Human fandom has been really bizarre. Not toxic just...WEIRD. Lmao. But I didn’t start writing for those people, I started writing the story for myself and like the one or two people I thought would like the story. And when certain types of comments started getting me down, I then began ignoring the fandom actively in favour of thinking about those people instead. 

Like, I get to choose how much I interact with a fandom. Even with products I really love, like Dragon Age, I follow only about two or three dedicated DA posters who I feel curate their feeds pretty well. I don’t compromise by thinking ‘oh well even though they post things that make me uncomfortable / anti stuff the fanart they post is worth it.’ It’s NOT worth it, if it exposes me to those kinds of attitudes on a regular basis. The occasional post from a mutual I can generally ignore (unless it’s an anti post), but I’m not going to pick up people to follow who are 50% good content and 50% ‘oh god.’ Because you’re not going to end up enjoying the good content very much in that scenario. 

So some fandoms I read a lot of fics very actively, interact with authors etc. I think that’s more typical of me in Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji, especially among Ciel/Sebastian shippers. Ditto Thorki shippers in Marvel. Sometimes you see me posting more fanart for that stuff over at @capillata not because I actually care about those fandoms more than other ones, but because I can afford to follow more people because the fandoms overall are less toxic etc. 

The other thing to keep in mind is that say, for example, Steven Universe, I would consider myself a part of that fandom because I reblog fanart, I watch the show pretty religiously, I know all the words to the songs, etc. But I’m not the gross, wanky, anti part of it. I’m still a part of fandom just because I’m not like, in the section it’s most famous for. I daresay most members of the Steven Universe fandom are just like me. They’re just quieter and less loud and are more likely to walk away from stupid arguments! So anon, generally speaking, if you are interacting with the fanworks of a fandom, you are part of the fandom too! Just...in a different way to what you’re seeing. Chances are, unless the fandom is literally only four people, you’re not alone. :D It can take time to find the quieter, less drama-focused members of fandom precisely because they are quieter and less drama-focused. They won’t be tagging all their posts into the main tags, their Twitters may be hard to find, etc. 

It also helps to be in more than one fandom. Like, that way you sort of have refuges from where the drama is likely to explode. 

Problematic pockets of fandom are getting larger these days due to the validation of antis in the mainstream. So it becomes more important than ever to develop your own tools which look like: 

* Not developing absolutist thinking. It’s easy to go ‘this fandom is toxic’ but the reality is it’s usually only a pocket of the fandom who are the loudest and most disruptive. Even in the most famously shitty fandoms (Voltron), there are reasonable, fair-minded, ‘ship what you like you’re valid’ people. It’s true, I know them and I am one. Absolutist thinking will lock you away from those people before you even have a chance to find or meet them. 

* Curate your feeds! Be fussy/picky about what you follow. If you can, use things like Saviour or New X-Kit on Tumblr to blacklist trigger or squick words. Don’t be afraid to block antis or similar on Twitter. Don’t worry about what you’ll ‘miss out on’ in the process. Be gently ruthless with what you keep around you. 

* If the fandom isn’t great because it’s quiet, encourage it along if you have the voice/energy for it. Put positive energy into the fandom. 

* Remember that you are a part of the fandom too if you’re engaging in it and want to be. 

* Encourage the works that you think are what you’re looking for in the fandom. Say you’re in an anti-dominated fandom and someone writes a ‘controversial’ work that you LOVE, see about taking the time to comment or send an ask to the author saying you enjoyed it. Send it on anon if you have to, but consider the ways you can support the parts of fandom you actively enjoy. It’s the best way to see more of it (this is obviously energy dependent lol). 

* Remember you can peace out from the fandom. There is nothing to stop you from just reading fanworks forever, and never engaging in the fandom at all. Tbh this was me for the majority of my time re: fanfiction. I may have written Misfits fanfiction, but I’m not active in the fandom. The same can be said for Rise of the Guardians and even now Detroit: Become Human. (Though the latter is because the areas of fandom I was in kind of died lmao). There’s no litmus test saying that you’re only valid if you’re in the fandom, that’s some bullshit.

How did you discover the show?

I saw it on tumblr a lot, naturally, after s1 dropped it really took off and i was super curious about it because i was a HUGE fan of atla! but i was also like ‘robot... cats...’ and so i didnt watch it right away lmao, ive posted about this before but i ended up watching this amv shortly after it came out and after that i was like ‘i HAVE to watch this’ (just watched the amv again and its still rly good, damn it reminds me how good s1 was........)

Was it love at first sight or did it take you a while to get into the show?

it was completely love at first site!!! u know lance won my heart the second he opened his mouth, and i was impressed right away by how lovely it was, how creative and scifi fun it was, i loved the music and the updated designs and i was in it for the diversity tbh. i knew starting this show could never be undone with ‘girl, youve already activated my particle ba--’ ‘LANCE.’ how poetic is it that a shance moment brought me here 

Do you have a favorite Paladin?

wonder who that could be............ Lance............. my son........ he is so excited and open-hearted, but so capable and smart in so many ways. he has Been There for the team in so many ways, from hugely significant emotional support to skilled tactical coverage, all the way up until he literally died saving a team mate, and this wasnt even his first close call. he can be petty and short-tempered cos hes young and working stuff out, but he is so gotdang selfless and beautiful and charming and i LOVE...

Do you have a favorite Lion? (If it’s different from your fav paladin, why?)

HAGGAR!!! BITCH!!!!!!!!! my bias was skewed from day 1 the second she opened her mouth and cree summers voice came out, and when she started showing concern for zarkon i knew it was over for me, i knew they were gonna cut me deep w her history. ive said since the beginning that haggar was gonna be the main villain, and i believe it more than ever now that voltron kinda killed her husband and lost her son in a void. her backstory reveal rocked me to my core, and i care very much about honerva and haggar!! ive always felt like the final conflict is gonna come down to haggar and allura tbh

Do you have a favorite Alien Race? (recurring and/or minor)

i rly like alteans, i know theyre just pretty hyper advanced space elves, but WHATEVER. also loved the mermaid aliens and whatever blaytz is, and my love of the biibohbiis is eternal. i hope we see more cool aliens! also shout out to that hot rebel lady that died in pidges arms, i forget what theyre called... also, can we meet whatever mixed w a galra to make antok t b h?

rolo, nyma, and beezor hold a rly special place in my heart. i was so excited when they came back!! the blades are very much my Aesthetic (TM), and those mermaid freedom fighters were great, also those married gay rebels posted in that ice cave that helped shiro.... i like a lot of the side characters tbh.

How/Why did you join the fandom?

i came in initially to consume the shallura content tbh (this was before it got “””cancelled””” by antis, and i was very excited to see a black woman in a popular ship for gotdamn once. yea im bitter). i started rping p quick after watching it all, i just really wanted to write lance, then i got into an rp with a keith and the ship was unlocked in my heart for All Time. this was around the time that i stopped drawing, i held on for as long as i could and used to post fanart, but it didnt last long. kept me inspired to keep writing tho, and thats good cos i need to be making something!! now its getting me back into drawing and im thankful for that, big ups to shance fandom within the fandom for being da bes!!

Care to share a favorite headcanon?

shit... i wasnt ready for this... i dont really have any relevant hcs that i can think of right now! ummmm i think that the garrison knows more than we think, and that there are going to be some Interesting revelations when the team goes home. im suspicious of how quick they were to jump on and contain shiro at the beginning without so much as letting him speak, how close the base was to the blue lion, and the fact that tex kogane saw the lion and was immediately like ‘should we call the garrison?’ (realistically he could be saying that cos, i mean, who else nearby would know about bizarre aircraft than a piloting academy, but still!)

What do you think is the best part of the show?

honestly there is a lot i love about the show, but i guess the Best part is the characters and the bonds we see growing between them as the series progresses! the show has gone into much more engaging, interpersonal depth than i ever hoped for, and the bottom line is that love and compassion are the things that make life worth fighting for.

ive also talked before, i think rambling in the tags of a post lol, about how i love the fresh, fun, creative take on fantasy scifi that i have missed in recent media, and the optimism that runs as an undercurrent to it all. 

Any hopes and wishes for future episodes / seasons?

i obviously just want lances personal arc to come to a head already!! his character has been quietly and steadily growing in the background of all of this, and his growth is just so human and heartfelt in the midst of all of this intergalactic drama. he is just a boy from cuba who is so good and selfless that he has literally died defending the universe, and he deserves a real, genuine time to shine!

Do you think you’ll stick it out until the end of the show?

ABSOLUTELY, this show means so much to me and has ferried me thru a hard time in my life, on top of just being generally phenomenal and everything that i hope modern cartoons can become now that people are genuinely starting to realize that it is an art form!

1. Are you self taught or are you taking classes?

Self taught so far! And soon if I manage to pass a contest, I’ll have classes! :D

2. How long have you been drawing?

That’s a tough one... I had a moment as a kid where I would draw a lot, then it vanished.... Until I went into gaming, giving me the will to draw some self-insert stuff when I was around 11- bad art ensued until today where it’s finally looking somewhat decent!

3. Do you consider yourself as a good artist?

I wouldn’t say a “good” artist since I had been self taught and I’m pretty sure I’m doing a lot of stuff in incorrect ways... Not to say I don’t master all the different material techniques (still need to work on watercolours before my contest!! aaaaa!).

But I’d say that I improved a lot, so far I’m mostly trying to move my ass to draw backgrounds, to get out of my confort zone and especially to get out of the “same face syndrom”... First of all by starting to draw men better!

4. What annoys you the most about being an artist?

Perfectionism. It’s a good motivation fuel, but it can fuck you up a lot, especially when your ability to criticize your art gets better than your ability to draw itself... Causing a lot of art blocks!

Aaand the fact we’re not taken seriously as artists sometimes. Not only in the way they are paid, but the general feeling we give... “Lol, art is easy, you just draw!” .... Very well, take a pencil, and draw me, I’ll wait, Da Vinci. :/

Oh, the typical “you can’t get a real job!!” bullshit too. That made me loose.... 6 years of my life going into something that wasn’t fitting me. Joy!

5. What do you draw the most?

Mostly fanart (*cough* villains *cough*) and OCs, but now I’m working also on commissions! Should work on personnal stuff when I get more inspired!

6. How old are you?

25 and still kicking! Only figuring my path as a student right now... Joy ‘|D

7. Has someone said you were bad?

Only because of what I was drawing (blame it on cringe culture, as a teen I loved to draw myself with my 3 fave villains and... It wasn’t taken quite well by some people oops), never got a comment concerning my art itself... But to be honest it was so bad and I bless my 15-18′s fucking innocence for posting what I was posting on the world wide web back then. c’:

8. Who inspired you?

A lot of friends, music and mostly videogames! Naming everything would take me forever... But if you know more and you draw it’s more likely I see you as an inspiration.. And every game/music I play are even more likely to inspire me, too!

But at first tbh the one who really got me back into drawing was @haruka-tavares to be honest...

9. What do you feel about ____’s work?

You didn’t specify anyone BUT honestly, as I said, art from my friends/other people inspire me A LOT and, honestly, art is so wide and diverse that you can’t really say there’s a unique way to draw.... Anyone I got related to as an artist has got fantastic artwork, or incredible universes/OCs! Keep it up everyone! :D

10. How did you came up with such a pen name like yours?

Clara Knight = Claire + Meta Knight (lmao)

Miss Tic Tac = the fact I like everything linked to time + nickname of my OC

I think the problem is how the websites are set up!!! old deviantart and old websites in general (like, forums) were awesome bc the small communities and actually FEEDBACK was encouraged!!! Websites don't really do that anymore idk how to describe it...and there's no real good websites for art sharing like that!

I mean.

instagram is mobile only, which tends to kill quality, doesn't let you have long descriptions, or put links in them!!! It's the most popular way rn for artists to get a following, and the hashtag system is good! But it doesn't really allow for a community to exist; it just wasn't made for art, it was made for photo and video sharing. Also again: MOBILE ONLY??

Twitter...is twitter... the hashtag system isn't great and it's just. kinda toxic. I only log in there to post art then dip. The only way to get a following is to jump aggressively on every art trend that lasts a week and HOPE a post blows up. and people are doing NFT shit and tend to self-promote on popular posts and. Ugh

tumblrs tagging system doesnt work half the time bc of a lot of rules they dont TELL YOU, and SO many people left after the nsfw ban (which DIDNT WORK I STILL HAVE PORNBOTS FOLLOWING ME!! WEEKLY!!!! SCREAM) and tbh that was a DUMB choice on their part. sex workers used this app and it was relatively safe for stuff like that and since we're talking abt art-platforms, nsfw artists did too!! I'm ace and rly dont even look at that stuff but I understand the importance of having a space for it. (and a lot of them were super good at tagging it, so u could just blacklist stuff anyway) now the issue is that ppl on here dont wanna rb so its harder for art to reach people!!! esp if youre just starting out and don't have a following. A lot of ppl dont check in the tags for art for fandoms! (or the tumblr tags just straight up dont SHOW the post in the tags...again. poor tagging system)

I KNOOOW people think of dA as a place where it was like. full of weird kink art. (I am NOT arguing abt that. it 100% was/is lol) but tbh thats ...p much everywhere on the internet... if you'd even mention a fandom/chara in the description, it'd show up in the search!! The search feature was great! The old way of sorting galleries use to be great bc if you were looking for certain stories or ocs from a person, you could easily find it! collabing/art trading with people felt so much more casual, and it had a forum feel where you could send comments back and forth.. where if ppl were fans of a thing, you'd see their comments with yours and be able to reply like 'YES OMG I LOVE THIS PERSONS ART/OCS TOO!! AAA' like. specifically thinking of Miss Chelsi-Apple-Leafs comic!!! God it was fun when she'd release stuff and a ton of tmm fans would speculate and gush in her comments lol. And adopts!! how fun were adopts!! and decking out your page with stamps/making them for ur friends to let them know you're their fan...

frankly just no other website compares imo when it comes to art sharing and no other website feels like it's really MADE for that in the way dA was. it USED to be so good before they dug their own graves with poor design and lack of navigation/organization. (Poor Website Design. When its an ART SITE?? HIRE BETTER DESIGNERS MY GOD. YOU HAVE SO MANY OF THEM ON YOUR WEBSITE-- people screaming they hate the new design and they didnt listen At All!! it was a move I hope cost them a lot of money >:( ) and now the site is practically dead. THEY USED TO HAVE CATAGORIES!! like you could search by art type: photography, brushes (for specific programs, too!!) traditional vs digital, fanart, sculptures, animations... etc!! and they got rid of that, making the search/filter system SUCK SO MUCH ASS. (they replaced it with something called topics. it doesn't have nearly as much categories, is not as easy to navigate, and is a lot harder to find stuff on...thanks DA...)

there's more, and i'm sure someone's done a more in depth post or even video on it but...god if you weren't there back then to compare, you'd have no idea how much it went downhill!! and there's no REALLY good alternatives rn :(

I miss tmm gang 😔 it really is harder to make friends on every other website im on!! the website I get the most feedback on my stuff now is actually ao3, but that's for my writing, not my actual art... ao3 needs to do a sister site for art ashshdf

the other day when I was devart to find old art, I was surprised to see I had 288 watchers on there! I assumed it was more because like, before I quit the website I had a good bit of interaction!! A lot of feedback, favorites, questions and fun convos!! It felt like a cozy lil community...

Whereas my art blog here has more followers than that and still a LOT less interaction. The rb to likes ratio is always so. So many more likes. And the fanart of course always gets more attention than oc stuff, which like on DA ppl asked after them and drew fanart and aaa... it was so sweet...

So like. Shoutout to ppl that rb my art. It means a lot and ilu!! (+100 love if u leave nice tags. +1000 if u do it for my oc posts)
