Murderous mankind: The difter I hold in this image is, I learned, a mopseinae, which is part of a very fragile ecosystem of coral reefs. Corals are calcium-major formations by polyps, that function as symbiotic colonies for algae, multitudes of fish, molluscs, & marine plants, that depend on numbers & structural balance of each species. Should one piece of this complex jigsaw go askew, entire chain feels tremors from it. Even in a perfect world, untouched by humans, they hang in a delicate threshold driven balance & with human interference, we're losing these hotspots of life rapidly & more than ever before. Drilling, explosion-fishing, drag-fishing, coral mining, are all industrial killers of these reefs, that disturb sea-beds & scatter these chains to pieces. Apart from that zonal killings, that are limited to permitted industrial shores/deep seas, the last decade has seen an uprise in tourism-industry's contribution to this massacre. Snorkeling, diving, & sub-marine scooting, are becoming few of the most destructive entries. Professionals & experienced amateurs may be mindful of the damage & steer clear of causing any, themselves, but far too many novice and naive swimmers and divers who can barely balance themselves are diving into these waters & causing irreparable damage. I say irreparable because 1.These life forms take centuries to form & 2.the number of such tourists is increasing 10-fold each day! More and more pristine shores & their corals are being located & dragged into this ever expanding kill-storm.
