Prompt 168
So. Apparently halfas are like phoenixes or something, which Danny would’ve really liked to know.
See, usually with ghosts if they’re forced to retreat to their cores they reform as was, but apparently, since they’re still partially living, schrodinger's people and all that, halfas have to regrow their body from scratch. At least that’s what he’s understanding from Frostbite.
But how come he has to deal with it? It’s Dan’s fault for trying to pull such a stunt! Oh, it’s either him or Vlad? Well fuck, he might have calmed down and is going to therapy in both the living realm and the Zone, but he’s waaay not equipped to raise a child except for like, monetarily wise.
Well dammit, how long will this core incubation thing last, he has his new job in… let him check which offer he accepted again… He has his new job in Coast City that he needs to finish packing for and then all the rest of the stuff to do.
What do you mean it’ll take months?! He doesn’t have months?! Urgh, fine. At least being a mortician isn’t that exciting, nor dangerous. Just hand him Dan’s core and he’ll figure things out for the living side of things. He’s sure Tucker and Sam wouldn’t be against helping, if only to try and claim favorite aunt or uncle spots.

ngl I always find it wild to see Star Wars stuff that's like "if you think about it in terms of realistic statistics/science then..." about almost any aspect of it.
I mean, what about the Star Wars films gives the impression that this universe abides by realistic statistics, or realistic anything else? SW is broadly a fantasy epic projected onto an IMAX screen with a space background painted on it. Yeah, the planets and moons in the films almost always have improbably limited biomes and two major locations max, because narratively these locations are usually just fantasy city-states with space aesthetics.
Starships travel at the speed of plot and we simply jump past the amount of time that presumably is passing, and sort of imply the passage of that time through shifts in the character dynamics. But this passage of time cannot be analyzed with any kind of consistency because the only logic governing it is the pace of the story.
Just how long did it take the Empire to send a full contingent of forces to Dantooine, search the entire planet, find the Rebel base, and then report back to Tarkin between one scene and another? No one says and no one appears to care. How long did it take Han and Leia to reach Bespin and what exactly went on between them while Luke was, in the same time frame, going through a protracted training over multiple days at an absolute minimum? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
How do giant space worms survive inside asteroids that somehow have an Earth-approximate gravitational field and I guess an atmosphere? Shhhh don't think about it. The point of the sequence is not "how does the giant space worm subsist off this random asteroid and how does it breathe and how does gravity work in this context, seriously" but that the giant worm sequence is fucking sick.
There's probably some after the fact EU justification invented by people who had nothing to do with the original writing of the space worm (or perhaps there are several mutually incompatible explanations) and I am profoundly disinterested in them. Nothing could make this even slightly realistic and it was never intended to be. Star Wars sings space shanties at scientific/mathematical realism as it sails past on a completely different ship going in the exact opposite direction.
And I do mean "sails" because while astronomy might tell us that space is unfamiliar and wild on a level we as Earthbound lifeforms can barely comprehend, Star Wars understands that space is basically an ocean, yet with stars and cool but survivable planets in it, or sometimes it's air but combined with a super cool space background so you can have early 20th century aerial combat that would make no sense in actual space conditions and doesn't need to.
"If you consider relativity, then just running the Empire would be..." General relativity does not govern the galaxy far, far away. Space magic does. I'm not sure there are even time zones.

Dark Side of the Moon
Dark Side of the Moon by imogenbynight (@thevioletcaptain)
Rating: Explicit
Word Count: 55k
Five months into his six month mission, an accident leaves Flight Engineer Dean Winchester stranded on the moon. It comes down to a man he has never met to bring him home.
This fic has The Martian vibes, so if you like your shipping paired with the inherent horror of being stranded in space, I have great news.
Dean is the sole survivor after an accident kills his crew. His hope for survival rests in a stranger, Cas. Dean and Cas bond immediately and it makes for a compelling love story. The fic is also well cast with deeply likable characters.
In the end, if you are looking for tense drama with a happy ending, this is a great choice. There's a real Cas saving Dean from Hell vibe to the fic that hits so very right.

55 years ago today, at 10:56 pm Eastern Daylight Time, Neil Armstrong was the first human being to set foot on the moon. "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." Which means that even though today is a Saturday, it is also . . .
MOON DAY!

Final spaces Main character, Gary goodspeed, is so similar to Jay Walker its actually unbelievable.
-Abandoned by both parents one way or another.
-Father was a very successful man.
-pined for a girl so badly and willed the relationship into existence after fucking it up so many times. (and it was beautiful)
-Very similar personalities of "Lovable doofus who will go super serious the second shit gets real"
-THE FUCKING HAIRSTYLE.
-has watched everyone of his friends sacrifice themselves for him or just flat out die.
-Has fucked up the timeline at least once.
-Best friend hated his guts until it became a broship very quickly.
-lost a body part. (jays right eye is counting its days as we speak)
-Fought a literal god of darkness on several occasions.
-Watched someone he considered a little sibling grow up like 5 years in an instant because of some bullshit.
-Said sibling also has some Dark magic powers.
-Became way more mature over the course of their adventures.
like i could go on and on.
The one thing that hasnt happened to one of these characters is getting hunted by Evil possessed versions of themselves.
AND THAT IS A WHOLE OTHER CAN OF WORMS.
what better angst is there than the other ninja getting attacked by 1 million evil undead jays?
