Do you have a favorite movie gown and what is it?
Ooo! Fun!
As soon as someone asks a question- my mind completely blanks 🤣
But then I remembered when How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days came out and this was the ‘it’ dress
Tumblr media
I was a huge I Dream of Jeannie fan and I always longed for those pants and shoes… but she had so many killer outfits that I loved.
Tumblr media
I love a good regency day dress too

How about you @moonlightredfern?!

Im currently reading chalice of the gods and OMG percabeth!
Percy’s entire internal monologue is “I cannot WAIT to grow old with Annabeth” for just hundreds of pages. It’s the whole central thesis of the book! I’m obsessed.
Omg I love chalice of the gods so much, it's such a fun, low-stakes story! And I always wanted to gain insight into Percy's life with NYC with Sally and Paul because I just find Percy's mortal side so fascinating. Chalice of the Gods is basically Percabeth fanfiction. I'm not sure if you got to the end, but the Iris message where they hold hands is the sweetest.

Kimchi is fucking fantastic!
BEST FOOD INVENTION it will go with literally anything!! Do you use it in any particular recipes yourself? Stir-fried with rice is probably my favorite go-to in terms of incorporating it into a dish, but I love it with just plain rice, ramen, sweet potato, beef soup, fried egg, you name it! I do sometimes scoff at bougie burger or bowl places that put it in a dish with "Seoul" in its name, but of course it's probably going to taste fantastic, so I shouldn't really complain too much 😂

I just wanted to say I’m so happy you found our Blue Castle Book Club tag. Welcome kindred spirit!
Hi <3 I read The Blue Castle a couple of days ago and went to tag thinking maybe I would find some edits and a few quotes and I was so surprised and delighted to see how active the fandom was and all the great meta that you and the book club did while you were reading it :D

🎃👻Trick or treat! 👻🎃
You open the door, a dog nose immediately sneaking its way through before you notice him, the myth, the legend, Caesar Flickerman smiling back at you. Behind him, you can peek some posters of news magazines with him on the cover. He hands you some candy wrapped in a 50 dollar bill. Happy Halloween!
alas, I don't have that much money so here's my current go to playlist!

THG Trick or Treat 2024 👻
It's time to get out your candy bags, put on a costume, and get to dropping asks!
How it works: There are THG/TBOSAS bloggers who have put on their porch lights to let the fandom know they are ready to give out treats to those who come into their ask box!
For the trick or treaters: You can leave anything in the ask box. This can be a simple "trick or treat," a seasonal description, or a prompt or request. Please note that any prompt or request is optional for the responder to fulfill.
For the treat-givers: It's completely up to you what you give the trick or treater! It can be a seasonal photo, a joke, a song, a line from a WIP, a doodle, a recipe, a headcanon, a fic rec, a moodboard, a drabble or anything else you want to give.
Blogs who are taking trick or treaters are under the cut below (if you would like to be added or I missed you, please drop a reply and I will add you to the list).

Just saw Emma (2020). What did you think of it?
I remember you have another Emma that’s your fav version but I can’t remember which it was?
Let me preface this - I won’t try and debate which Emma is more faithful or accurate, I’ll just say Emma 09 brought me to Jane Austen the way no other adaptation did or could. It has a sort of magic to me. Alls to say - It’s hard for me to be unbiased about Emma adaptations…
With that said - Emma 20 was alright! My husband and I watched it together. His favorite Austin characters are usually the dick-ish in-laws (Mr. Palmer for example), so I remember us laughing at Mr. John Knightly.
On a very petty note - I found Emma’s hair (those tiny curls) and the high collars on the men’s costumes distracting. Maybe they’re period accurate, but they just annoyed me 😭
I should really watch it again…
What did you think?!

What are you most excited for in season two of pjo?
Ummm what am I not excited about???? SoM is one of my favorite books of all time (it's underrated af in my opinion). If I had to choose one thing, I'll single out the Sirens scene with Annabeth and Percy, that's one of my favorite scenes in the whole damn series. A close second to the Sirens scene is the arrival of Tyson, who's a severely underrated character who saves Percy's ass multiple times. Lastly, I'm excited to see the scene of Ares pressuring Clarisse to do well on the quest. It'll add a lot to Percy's narrative of "The gods are shit to demigods and need to get their act together"

LOVE THIS. Dean really is a master of words, which is both what aligns him with Emily and then of course pushes her away. It’s always what he says that attracts or rebuffs her (rebuffing in the sense of when he slanders her writing). Even from the start, when he says he’d teach her how to write the “love talk” in her books. We can extrapolate his methods, but the emphasis is always on the speech, which is fascinating.
And I like how you characterize Teddy’s quietude and secrecy as something bred in him from childhood—it definitely makes sense for how he comes across as a shadowy figure. LMM always makes her characters shine through dialogue—hence Dean’s brilliance on the page versus Teddy’s—but that also makes a ton of sense for his personality. Not that it’s lacking, just that it’s shown or not shown because of the story medium.
So both of them have a different language of expressing affection, which is also such good writing. Like. Maud you did it again.
Does the “might have won her wholly” part of Emily’s Quest ever haunt you?
No-o-o, no haunting for me! If Montgomery asks a narrative question, I usually find that she answers it herself, later on. And for this especially, I do personally feel that we have a definitive, straight-forward answer granted.
First, the quote you’re mentioning:
“Emily threw him a glance of coquetry that very nearly made him kiss her. He [Dean] had never kissed her yet. Some subtle prescience always told him she was not yet ready to be kissed. He might have dared it there and then, in that hour of glamour that had transmuted everything into terms of romance and charm—he might even have won her wholly then.”
Then next (I’ll supply a quote just below here), comes the answer. This one small sentence comes many chapters later and, with an echoing of the same language previously utilised in the above text, I feel, nullifies the previous question.
“In that fleeting moment, in that brief caress, he [Teddy] had made her wholly his, as years of wifehood could never have made her Dean's.”
With full narrative, too. This isn’t Emily’s internal monologue that might be subject to change in the future or a spoken dramatic statement in a moment of heightened emotion, this is being presented to the reader as a simple fact.
But please, please, @emilyclimbs, let me be so earnest and so clear — I’m in no way here to shoot holes in anyone’s ship. So, if this is yours – understand that you have my full support in that. These Emily books are so special and personal, and open to many different interpretations. This is literally just my one-small-person-on-the-internet’s-opinion own tiny wee minuscule take on this.
Now, lol, with that said, I do thank you so much for asking, of course!

Confession: when I reread EONM I often skip over chapter 26: On the Bay Shore, because Dean gives me the creeps instantly. Aunt Caroline has already warned Emily against the Priest men generally and against older men. As if to make her warning a prophecy Dean starts stifling her almost immediately and on some level she knows it.
Dean is reading Jane Eyre and I saw another book clubber suggest he sees himself as a Rochester. In the long run I think Dean is closer to St John Rivers, who wants to subsume all of Jane's passion and autonomy, and almost succeeds.
I had forgotten that Dean arrives with a copy of Jane Eyre when @moonlightredfern and I were talking about the parallel of Emily in the spare room and Jane in the Red Room. I'm actively hunting for more parallels now.

The Good Witch, Maisie Peters
the first song from this album I heard: the good witch! one thing about me is i will not listen to singles, i will wait until an entire album drops to take in the whole Experience.
do I own the album?: i do.
my favorite song: "lost the breakup", i think. or maybe "watch".
my least favorite song: i don't outright dislike any track, but i do find a number of them boring, like "want you back", "two weeks ago", and "there it goes".
a song I didn’t like at first, but now do: n/a. honestly, i listened to this album for the third time because you sent this ask. it hasn't made quite the impression on me that you signed up for this (2021) did.
a song I used to like, but now don’t: n/a
my favorite lyric: you had the speaking parts, but i guess i was the playwright and the classic literature through line in the entire album. maisie peters as an artist is very concerned with Narrative, and i enjoy that about her work. is she in charge of the story or falling prey to the millennia-tested tropes and stereotypes?
overall rating out of 10: hmm. 5. it's straightforward, dreamy pop music but it's not really the first thing i reach for when i'm looking for a pop album. unobjectionable, a good time, but middle of the road as far as my personal taste is concerned.
send me an album and i'll tell you
