i wanna keep the actual happenings of the meeting to myself till i'll be able to illustrate it properly, with enough of context from past happenings, but what i really imagine is that Moon would be rather cold about all of it. i've been playing a little with my take on Moon's characterization and was inspired by an interpretation of the moon in specific belief of being a cold dead rocky thing, yet alive and brimming with life not her own. another inspiration source is Neglected Space by Imogen Heap

the same ideas applies to Looks to the Moon, as a result: tragically putting her in a similar place as Seven Red Suns, almost. emotionally cold and detached from emotion, yet unlike Suns, Moon puts care in still being kind, considerate and loving to her fellow Iterators. these two are supposed to be sort of a commentary on empathy, compassion and sympathy. both end up lacking the ability to be empathic, but that doesn't mean they cannot extend compassion and sympathy if they just put in the effort. Suns does not truly try. Moon again does her best

in the Children of Eo and Wish for Tomorrow groups meeting, Moon wouldn't yell. there wouldn't really be an Argument between her and Tarrows. Tarrows is there to offer her services, falling to her knees- reducing herself into a position of someone lesser, tapping into being perceived as a slave again, all because of guilt that isn't hers- until Boreas picks her up by the arm, that is because he won't stand for one of his family being anything less than himself and he will Never fall to his knees in front of anyone unless physically shoved into the position. Sparrows is equal to him whether she likes it or not basically jdslklkmcklsd

something hot and explosive wouldn't happen, specifically because Tarrows would refuse to put up any fight. Moon's sharp words would be shaped like a lecture. they'd be calm, merciless, because this is a parasite in front of her and she needs to know her place. this isn't a Moon that is an empitome of kindness and sweetness and the mom friend or however is she often viewed, this is a flawed person with bitterness that's been slowly growing and growing over thousands of years. she wouldn't cry, she couldn't. she has to learn before the realization of her faults would be able to hit at all

I haven't watched rotg in years (literally because I didn't like it) but big agree on all of your points. in CONCEPT it's a really neat idea, the animation style holds up, the character designs are really good and are still recognizable, there are a lot of really dark and. dare I say scary? moments, for a lighthearted dreamworks kid's film. don't they fucking kill the sandman? there's death in this movie! the oogie boogie man is a decent villain

but it's so. weighed down. by everything else. the story IS too rushed and feels underdeveloped, the easter plot is so inconsequential that I literally forgot it was even the plot until you posted about it. there's too much going on and the few serious/slow moments are forgotten because they're overwhelmed by ... everything else. literally who gives a shit about plastic easter eggs. that felt like such an american-centric thing to me but idk... don't quote me on that. also I fucking hatejelsa so much. #my opinion

WHO CARES ABOUT EASTER EGGS MAAAN. also all the other guardians are presented as extremely incompetent? the eggs get destroyed bc jack isnt there protecting them or whatever but all the other dudes were and just did nothing. the tooth fairy the easter bunny and santa claus combined forces cant manage to salvage a single egg on easter. all right losers… this is not even shown onscreen we are just told this. bc the easter plot does not matter at all.

the guardians strength is tied towards belief and if kids dont believe them they all curl up and die. but they still had a ton of believers before easter was ruined and they still couldnt do a thing. (which is stupid bc no one at all believes in jack and hes super duper defeat the main villain powerful..) and then that plots over and it doesnt matter bc no one gives a shit about egg collecting?

sandman DOES die but it’s temporary. wouldve been cooler to me if he died forever. he gets a funeral scene too which lasts a total of one minute where everyone holds hands sadly. pitch would be a much more effective villain if he killed sandy for real and there was actual time spent mourning him

i think the most effective plot is. the clear parallels with pitch and jack which are completely underdeveloped. they could have been very good foils as pitch began to feel hatred for people because they wouldnt believe in him and jack loved people no matter what. they had a really really interesting connection which should have gotten MUCH more focus.

jack has the best character moments with north and pitch. i think tooth and bunny are both delightful characters but the plot shouldve been restructured and they honestly both shouldve been cut or had significantly reduced roles so that the plot would have focus. absolutely no point to setting the movie on easter.

pitch breaking jacks staff is a great moment. i also like that he did give jack his teeth back even though hes being a meanie. he is genuinely attempting to team up with him bc they have such similar backgrounds. thats very rich and interesting i would have loved to see that developed. i also like tooths line that “they were all something before they became guardians” implying that they were humans given weird roles? what happened! pitch being given a human backstory to explain his beef with the man in the moon (like jack has! did the moon turn pitch into this creature of fear and never explain why? why does pitch hate him?) would add so much to the story

of the four guardians we see norths workshop, bunnys warren, and tooths palace. this is cool as fuck. the design is crazy good i have no notes on the art. but none of these locations are given significant time. the movie feels sort of like a theme park ride. look at this cool thing! okay youve seen it for two seconds! look at this other thing! and this thing! and that thing! the locations are incredible, but we never learn anything about them!
