Though he had been expecting it, seeing his own face revealed when the other iron man lifted his faceplate was still a surprise. There was something odd about his face though, something aside from the differences caused between universes. Tony couldn’t quite put his finger on it, but he put a mental pin in that suspicion for now.
“Designation?” He asked instead. “We haven’t gotten around to that yet.” Or at all, interdimensional travel was still sci-fi on his earth. Well, not anymore that he’d done it (first! Wait until he gets to tell Bruce about this) but he had nothing more than theory.
“I can barely remember how I ended up here, but I can send you the suit’s recordings.” His counterpart hadn’t relaxed despite taking off the faceplate. Tony supposed he would also be suspicious if another Iron Man showed up in the middle of his New York, but Tony had also had to face alien invasions. Well, there was no supposing what this Tony had faced with his Avengers.
“I do remember that I was on mission with the Avengers, so getting back quickly would be appreciated.” He held out his hand, palm facing up, repulsors obviously powered down, so that the little usb connector could reveal itself from his finger tip. A clever piece of engineering that.

"Ow," Tony pushed himself up, wincing as the HUD in his suit booted up. The lights sent him squinting while JARVIS's smooth voice quietly caught him up to speed.
"Minor surface injuries sustained, symptoms concurrent with a mild concussion,. Suit damage: minimal with self repair routines already active. Crash location New York."
"Thanks, I can see that myself." Tony said, but even as the words escaped him, a doubt crept forward. There was a difference in this New York, a kind of film he wasn't sure how to describe. He tried to remember what happened. "Okay team, locations?" He called, trusting JARVIS to switch to the team channel.
Dead air played. "J?" He asked.
"I do not have a fix on any other Avenger's location." The AI replied.
Great. Tony shifted himself into a sitting position, and when that didn't hurt too badly he started standing.
"I would stay seated." A voice called behind him.

He stilled his automatic impulse to raise his hands even as a chill ran down his spine. The modulation on the voice could be coincidence, but the display JARVIS helpfully routed to the HUD from the rear cameras left nothing to doubt. An Iron Man suit. Not one he'd designed, though there was something in the shape that he couldn't help but find pleasing.
"Nice suit," he called through the external speakers, "Who picked it out for you?"
"J, connect to STARK satellites and give me a live feed of the aerial view." He added, internal comms only. Hopefully he could pin point his team that way. However, as he took the time to eye up the other suit and the buildings around them, something started pulling at his hind brain.
"Sir, my access codes are not working." JARVIS replied. "Trying secondary decryption."
Like the suit, the lines in the buildings around him seemed just off from what he was used to. A common underlying blueprint but different executions. The Stark ad on the neighboring bill board seemed out of place.
Tony didn't need JARVIS to pull up an image of STARK tower for him to realize that he was definitely not in the New York he knew, but the unsettling view of his tower wreathed in purple certainly cemented the fact.
And if Tony had, what, crash landed in a different New York then did that mean the Iron Man behind him was...?
"This better be a multiverse thing, because I am so not into copycats." He said, exasperation leaking into his tone. Broadcasting his movement, he slowly turned to face the other Iron Man, the faceplate retracting in a smooth motion to show himself.
