author’s note : thank you for the request and i’m sorry i took so long to post ! also THE WAY im so worried about this one, mainly because ... i’ve always pictured sakusa to be a total softie with the people he cares about. he might show it in different ways, but whenever he’s comfortable with the person / people he’s with, he’s just affectionate and touch-starved most of the time. OMI STANS YELL AT ME IF THIS SUCKS, YOU HAVE FULL PERMISSION.

you knew and respected sakusa’s aversion to people

and truth be told you understood it, because you preferred staying inside with omi, watching a movie or making dinner together

you knew that after having to deal with his team’s antics at training, he always cherished a could of minutes of alone time, but you also knew that at some point he’d want your hugs and for you to run your hands through his hair

despite his of standish demeanor, he was a true softie, especially when he was with you 

night drives held a special place in both of your hearts, because it was how the both of you unwinded anytime you had a long day

he’d been home for an hour, but you knew that after kissing your cheek in greeting and retreating up to the bathroom, sakusa would want some time on his own to wind down after being overstimulated with too many interactions throughout his day. 

you yourself had busied yourself with making dinner for the two of you, songs gently playing through your prized speaker. omi had gotten it for you for christmas because he knew that you liked playing songs while you were doing anything, and sometimes your phone speaker wasn’t enough. 

as you hummed along to the music and gave the food a final stir before turning it off, a small gasp slipped past your lips as a pair of arms wrapped around your waist and a kiss was placed on the side of your head. sakusa placed his head on your shoulder and let out a content sigh, “smells good,” he mumbled into your shirt, loving the scent of your freshly washed clothes mixed in with your perfume, along with the warm smells of the food.

with a smile on your face, you shuffled over to the sink to wash your hands, him moving along in tandem with you, not wanting to let you go. soft giggles fell from your mouth and as soon as you’d dried your hands, you managed to turn around in his arms and cradle his face in your hands, placing a gentle kiss in between his eyebrows, “how was practice?”

sakusa’s eyes had fluttered shut at the feeling of your hands on his cheeks, warm from the water you’d just washed them with and he let out a short hum, his towering frame becoming practically insignificant with the way he melted in your hands, “good, loud as usual,” he grimaced. the man gave the impression that he didn’t like his team much, but in reality they were his best friends, and he cherished them … they just got to be a bit much most of the time, mature when they’re apart but acting like children whenever they were around each other, “my arm hurts a little though…”

“~ omi omi,” you cooed in a sing-song voice, letting your fingers go to the back of his head and go into his damp curls, hearing him practically purr at your touch, “do we need to go for our drive?” your question perked him up and you grinned as a smile spread across his handsome face, eyes twinkling with adoration. 

he pressed a kiss to your cheek and let it linger, causing you to burst out into a fit of giggles, “please, that would be great,” he murmured against your face, before he pulled away and looked down at you, dropping another kiss onto the top of your head before letting one of his arms go, keeping one arm around your waist as he looked down at the food, “let’s eat, then we can have dessert when we get to the place.”

and after dinner and washing the plates, the two of you changed into something comfortable and headed out to your car, night sky twinkling above your heads. kyoomi had decided that he wanted to drive, despite you offering over and over to drive yourself so that he could relax, but instead he’d stated that driving with you by his side was the ticket for him to calm down.

his hand remained on your thigh during the whole car ride, and you absentmindedly played with his fingers as you stared out of the window, watching the scenery pass by as music played in the background. you drifted in and out of several conversations, occasionally singing along to the songs and laughing together, before falling back into the comfortable silence. 

sakusa kept driving for a little while longer, and you’d come to the point where you felt so relaxed, that you were practically feeling yourself drift off, but just as you were going to succumb to the tiredness, you felt omi’s fingers gently squeeze your thigh. 

you realised that you were at your favourite spot and through a sleepy smile, you held your arms out to omi, causing the dark haired man to chuckle, pushing his seat back to gain some room before allowing you to clamber over into his lap, content smile on your face as he pushed a strand of fallen hair behind your ear, leaving his hand on your jaw and looking at you as if he was holding the whole world in his hands.

“omi, i just realised,” you grimaced at the potential spoiling of the mood, “we forgot to get the dessert.”

at your confession, sakusa rested his head against the headrest and let out an elongated ‘no’ in his deep voice at the car ceiling, the faux drama of it all causing you to begin to laugh, covering your lips with your hand. 

 when the theatrics stopped, he shrugged his shoulders slightly and began to place kisses on your face, “i think i can live. besides, why would i need dessert if i have the sweetest thing ever sitting in my lap right now?”

“ew omi, that was the cheesiest thing you’ve ever said,” you stuck your tongue out at him and shook your head lightly, still trying to talk through your giggles.

he cringed slightly, “yeah i almost felt myself throw up at that shit,” he joked, grinning up at you before nuzzling his face into your neck, relishing the feeling of your fingers raking through his hair, “but i do love you.”

“i love you too, omi omi.”

this was exactly why you loved car rides late at night with your boyfriend; it was when the world was quietest, so your love could be the loudest thing that existed.

and something hit different in the confines of your car. sure, being home with the man that you loved and adored, watching movies, cooking dinner or playing games together was one of the best feelings in the world, but something about the gentle night breeze settling on your cheeks, the night sky twinkling overhead, the silence that was only pierced with the soft songs flowing through the car speakers and the conversations and laughter the two of you shared. it was intimate and it made you feel like the two of you were the only people who existed.
