Sometimes when we sit down and think about getting in front of a camera, what are the feelings we tend to feel? Anxiety? Stress? Apprehension? Full on fear? Perhaps there is even self-disgust? Sometimes we put all of that aside and we think, let's just try. Then comes a new wave of emotion: fear that the photographer will not do a good job, that you are going to look like a <insert animal you normally associate with yourself>, or worse that the fears that you are just not photogenic will be confirmed. Well I can't do much about that first wave of emotion, but that second wave I can give you a wee break on. I have never had ANYONE stand in front of my camera in the 7 years I have been doing this, that did not captivate me with their beauty. Non-photogenic is not a word in my vocabulary. It just doesn't exist. I have the most good looking clients, because frankly, everyone has this story within them, their personal history, the ingredients that made them who they are when they are sitting in front of me... and that story like any good book or movie, is beautiful. And I spend my time with you capturing that beautiful narrative. And in fact, by the end of the session, you are feeling pretty amazing about yourself as well. So I guess I lied and I can actually help with that first wave of emotion too... I would just like to take a second to celebrate this gorgeous woman. She is so powerful yet so kind. She has changed thousands of lives and given thousands of woman and men the tools they need to make their dreams come true. She has so much power and she uses it to rise people up. I have seen in my personal life women who like to tear other women down, and it is so disheartening, and I look at Lisa from @milkywayfun and I see the exact polar opposite, and it only makes me strive harder to help others to rise up in my own special way. And you know what is the coolest thing? She, like, totally digs me, wanted me to photograph her, and calls me her friend! Years ago following her work I would have never dreamed she would want to work with me.
