Querciabella Mongrana 2009 Maremma is an extensive area of Italy bordering the Ligurian and Tyrrhenian seas in southwest Tuscany. Maremma is also the newest IGT, and where Querciabella has it's newest vineyards. Mongrana is a simple yet refreshing take on Italian wines. A beautiful bouquet on the nose and plump strawberries on the palate.

I took my wife to dinner in the North End.  We went to Lucia.  We split a bottle of Querciabella Mongrana 2009 which was recommended by our waitress.  It was a Sangiovese, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon.  I'm a fan of red wine and this was right up my alley.

The food was great!  We got bruschetta as an appetizer.  I included a picture because I was amazed at the amount of tomato, mozzarella, and basil on top.  So good!  If you're ever in Boston, stop by Lucia in the North End.
