Two days ago, I was in Chicago. Today, I tested for my Junior Black Belt in Taekwondo! What? Junior black belts! So proud of us for persevering, working hard and not quitting. I’m so grateful for Master Kiye Cho and Master Jaeun Shim’s willingness to work on a form over and over and over again with us. I made have shed a tear today at taekwondo. The 3 youngest and I took taekwondo belts tests toward a variety of belts. I completed my 6th pre test toward my second degree back belt and while I pulled a muscle during my breaking, I did it. My two youngest overcame nerves to rock their tests. My 8 year old daughter passed her first pre test toward her first degree and my baby moved up to a yellow-green belt. The awesomeness of kid 2 was evident in his confidence as he completed a pre test toward his 3rd degree black belt. This stuff is hard. We worked really hard. In theory, I should be ready to test for second degree by next June. I have a lot of work do do before I’m ready, but I’m up for the challenge. I’m so blessed to have a friend who shows up and this causes me to show up. Thank you, @stayathomemomyeahright! Our two oldest started their #Taekwondo journey six years ago today! I can’t believe how much they and the entire family has grown throughout this process. Six years later these two no belts are now 2nd degree black belts, and kid one spent one month without us in Korea. I found myself interested in Taekwondo and am now also a black belt. Our entire family is committed to a healthy lifestyle that includes discipline, respect and hard work. Our kids continue to take Taekwondo clases and participate in team, while I look forward to challenging myself at my twice a week classes. I encourage fellow homeschoolers to find a Taekwondo class!
