Momikeshite Fuyu (Yamada’s 01.2018 new NTV drama)

Yamada Ryosuke, challenging the role of an elite police officer in a comedy Haru and Ozawa Yukiyoshi [complete] the sibling trio

As we have heard on [November] 5th, Yamada Ryosuke of the popular group Hey! Say! JUMP, will play the lead role in the January NTV drama “Momikeshite Fuyu ~Wagaya no Mondai Nakatta Koto Ni~” (Hushing up winter ~The problems in my home did not happen~). Covering the “three main occupations” of hit drama, the elite sibling trio of a doctor (eldest son), a lawyer (eldest daughter), and a metropolitan police officer (second son) will solve problems that threatens the security of their family by all means in this comedy. Yamada plays the second son who is an elite police officer. Haru and Ozawa Yukiyoshi also stars.

[T/N: Momikeshi means cover-up or hush-up of a crime, so the title alludes to them covering up the problems in the family.]

Faced with an absolutely stupid but exceedingly beautiful family love, the protagonist, "a police officer and youngest son whose elite feeling is somewhat missing”, will navigate the conflicting notions of “affections for the family VS vocational ethics”, and constantly accompanied by “ingenuous” and twisted logic, we will watch his personal growth (?) in this “home drama comedy”.

Yamada plays Kitazawa Shūsaku (25), the second son of the Kitazawa family, a family that is definitely solving problems. An elite police officer who graduated from Tokyo University (Todai) and worked at the Metropolitan Police Department, he belong to a police department where many candidates for high ranking officers gather, and he was encouraged to study day and night for the exam to advance in the force, with the aim to become the future police superintendent general. His problem is that his sense of justice is too strong. For Yamada, "It is a drama depicting a family love that is a little strange, so it is important how I convey the character of this family. I have co-starred with Haru-san (the eldest daughter / lawyer) before, so I am looking forward to see her in a different role as a strong-willed sister this time. "

He added, “I play Shūsaku, who is the type who keeps his feelings to himself and is the bottom feeder in the family, so there are a lot of things to consider in playing this role. It has been a while since I acted in a comedy, so I will work noisily, joyfully, and seriously on set, and I hope this drama will leave a big smile on the viewers’ faces."

Haru plays Chiaki (27), the eldest daughter. A barrister who combines "brains” and “beauty” boasts the best mind and glib amongst the three siblings, she is the brain of the family. "Although she has a strong sense of justice and will not say anything wrong, she just might surprise those around her. While each of the Kitazawa siblings are in the so-called elite occupation and are extremely intelligent, the eldest two’s dispositions are too strong, so the youngest Shūsaku was basically led this way and that by his older siblings. Since the characters are doing strange things with a serious face, I am a little worried that I will laugh during the scene (laughs). I do not know how the Kitazawa family's story will unfold at this time, so it feels like an adventure and I am looking forward to it."

The eldest son's Hirofumi is played by Ozawa Yukiyoshi (38). He is a heart surgeon who is called a genius at a young age and has performed many successful operations on celebrities, so he is very well known in the medical world. He is also trusted by subordinates and there are rumblings that he is a candidate for the future director role. "I think a massive chain reaction will occur. Although Hirofumi loves his family and himself, he is someone who has strayed a little, so it is going to be interesting to see how he manipulates Shūsaku and Chiaki”, he said with hope and expectation.

For Ozawa himself, his father is the conductor Ozawa Seiji and his mother is former actress Irie Miki. His older sister is essayist Ozawa Seira and his cousin is musician Ozawa Kenji, so his family is elite in a sense. "My family is on good terms with each other and as individuals, we can freely do whatever we like, so these parts are similar to the Kitazawa family. With the power of the cast and staff, we will do our best to make the unusual Kitazawa family the most talked about ideal family form in 2018 (laughs).” About Ozawa, Yamada said, "It is our first time co-star [in a project], so when I met him, I realized that Ozawa-san and my faces are similar (laughs)”, and added that they were perfectly suited to play siblings.

The head of the Kitazawa family, Taizou (63), is played by Nakamura Baijaku. He is the director of the private junior high school "Kitazawa-en", and since he wrote a bestselling book where he shared the tips of raising three siblings who advanced to Todai, the admissions to his school rapidly increased. On playing the role of someone famous for managing a private junior high school, he said expectantly, "I'm thrilled with the role of a suspicious person, someone who is supposed to be coming but doesn’t show up. [T/N: I think the original text is a reference to The Music Man. I’m not 100% sure I’m paraphrasing properly, but you get the idea of this character.] Because I don’t know how it will play out, it is best to watch with a feeling of fear and interest. I am really looking forward to where it leads (laughs). As I read the script, the activities from the three sides will come to my view. Isn’t this perfect for the role? I am very excited to have unique children.”

Producer Hazeyama Hiroko said, “Saturday night entertainment should be fun and make you laugh and say “That’s entertainment”, so we are preparing this excellent script. In order to solve the troubles of his family that comprised of elite but intense characters, the protagonist Shūsaku gets completely messed up; please have your family ready to watch how he courageously and brilliantly (?) solves the problems"
