I can agree with you in most parts actually, but i have to disagree with you regarding combustionbending.

Personally i like the idea of the specialized bending arts coming and going through the ages. Bloodbending, lightning bending, the ability to sever ones bond from gravity, and so on. The idea it's invented, mastered, and lost, only to be rediscovered again is something that really fits with the cyclical nature of death and rebirth of the Avatar universe.

Hell, a major plot point of my own planned story for Avatar is the fact that Airbending has two specialized bending arts that are lost, one due to the fact that it was the peaceful air momads who ultimately won the race so to speak, and they having no interest in passing on a technique of of pure destruction, and the other simply being lost because the skill ceilining it takes to master it is so high that it's literarily going to die out from lack of new students to learn it.

For me, the far, far more egregious part of reintroducing these specialized bending arts in sequels or prequels is when they throw out the rulebook that was previously established for no reason other than they thought it would be cool.

Metal bending becoming widespread makes perfect sense, because its not at its heart a difficult technique, but it needed to be discovered before others could learn it.

Compare that to how lightning bending(supposedly the most difficult to master art of firebending, that requires a heart with no doubts) suddenly becoming widespread, and being able to just throw out lightning like it's a stream rather than bursts, or how Bloodbending can suddenly be done in the day with no explanation for how it's possible.

My main complaint about the handling of Combustion Bending is specifically Yangchen's involvement, and it's the most minor of my grievances about the fan-service. If it had been the only reference to AtLA, I'd be okay with it. But having all three of those together in a story featuring the another Avatar is what tries my patience.

Having this kind of stuff pop up as prominent aspects in the setting's history is fine, as long as it doesn't propagate in ways that don't make sense. (I think both chi-blocking and lightning-bending should have remained highly specialized arts. I agree that Bloodbending should have kept to its original rules and Metalbending makes sense as something to spread.) It's when the Avatars start to have a recurring cast of villains -- Combustion Bender, Chi Blocker, Brainwasher, Bloodbender -- that it starts to feel ridiculous. Let someone else deal with Combustion Bending. It's a big world, and not everything needs to have global implications. Let the Fire Nation deal with a Combustion Bending cult or something while Yangchen is doing something else.

**The death toll from a make shift ferry boat that capsized off the northern coast of Mozambique on Sunday has climbed to nearly 100. Mozambique's Maritime Transport Institute (INTRASMAR) on Mionday gave the latest count saying the overloaded fishing boat was not licensed to transport people. **

Manuel Loforte, from Mozambique's Maritime Institute, said that the initial death toll of 91 rose to 96 after they recovered three more bodies late on Sunday and another two on Monday.

"As a consequence we see a shipwreck, which resulted in 91 deaths reported yesterday, and at around 23 hrs (11pm local time), we found another three bodies, totalling 94, and this morning we found two more bodies."

The deaths included children and have at least 26 persons still missing according to local media. There were 130 people on the ferry and eleven had been hospitalised according to the administrator of the Island of Mozambique, told state-run Radio Mozambique.

"My sister lost her life. Yes, she was with the granddaughter, there were three family members on the boat and two lost their lives" said Momade Raisse, a victim's brother.

Some people had been traveling to attend a fair while others were trying to “flee from Lunga to the Island of Mozambique for fear of being contaminated by cholera, which has affected that region in recent days,” the online outlet reported.

"I lost my brother's children, of my second mother (step-mother). Because of this sinking of the ferry there in Quissanga, which was leaving Lunga, to come here, because of cholera" said Amade Juma, a victim's uncle.

Other news reports quoted Jaime Neto, the secretary of state in Nampula province, as saying misinformation about an alleged cholera outbreak caused panic and had people board the boat, which ordinarily serves as a fishing vessel, to flee the area.

Authorities in Mozambique and neighbouring southern African countries have been trying to contain a deadly cholera outbreak that spread in recent months.

Many areas of Mozambique are only accessible by boats, which are often overcrowded.
