i find it so interesting when established bands/artists (esp widely successful ones) have inconsistent timing and feel when it comes to their playing. something that you as a practising musician are told to avoid, and you practice with a metronome for hours to be as precise as possible cause you cant be the one guy bringing the whole band down. yet some artists just said fuck that because it worked better for them. and it was a truer expression of what they were trying to do. like all the love to the white stripes, but you cant deny that the timing and tempo is all over the place. a flow of time impassable to anyone but jack and meg who always navigate it perfectly. and that’s the point. it wouldnt be the white stripes without that. you see it alot in classic rock too. they arent making complex and tidy music. theyre just making music. not that that kind of mindset is better or worse than delicately creating music. it’s just different. and i love it.

can 40k fans be normal about things for 5 minutes. I was watching a video about hive cities and the narrator said that the lowest levels are "terrifying" and "disgusting" just cause the people there are living in extreme poverty and we're also mutilated by the industrial waste dumped there from higher levels. he also said "the underhive has crimes committed daily" like ? yeah ? and the rest of the city doesn't ? you already talked about how the nobility at the top levels are fucked up and evil and you didn't call them "barbaric". how is the corruption of the nobles different than the lawlessness and organized crime of the underhive, besides the poverty and mutilation ? why do you feel like you have to make the underhive so scary and sensationalized. I get that the universe is supposed to be fucked up and dark and whatever but. get normal

didnt think id ever like blues music but ive been listening to some stevie ray vaughan recently and for whatever reason it’s stuck with me more than other artists in this genre have. ive never been more enthralled by just watching how someone plays guitar. not even his solos just the way he plays a regular riff looks so interesting

also he just kept describing it as terrifying and horrifying because of the crime or whatever as a way to make it seem fucked up and evil compared to the rest of the layers but that just really doesn't work cause. it's 40k. terrifying and horrifying is assumed. it greets you at the door and kisses you sloppy. and just to give the guy who made the video the benefit of the doubt I checked the wiki to see how they describe it cause maybe it's just described like that inherently. but it just says it's a slum with violent gangs and vicious mutants ? which yeah I'm not saying it doesn't sound like a fucked up place to live and I'm sure it's scary but just something about the specific description in the video just rubbed me the wrong way.
