Still in the early process of discovering blender but I can’t stop rendering him!

Hi! Could you tell me more about the sculpting process? On your last photo of V you said his sculpt was in the early stages but to me it looks pretty advanced already...? Can you explain what you mean by that, I know nothing about 3D rendering and I'm curious :D

Hi no problem! I Love these kinds of questions. 

The short answer: my sculpt of V is the changes I made so far to an existing free 3d model that comes with the program daz3d. Its a free program with two base models and further relies a lot on paid content. So I did not start from scratch and had a solid base to work off.

Long answer (omg it got so long so sorry):

The process for me was pretty advanced but I semi managed.

I opened the daz genesis 8 model (its what they call their in program base model) into blender, blender is another free 3d program which relies more on making your own assets. There are way more free resources and tools for this program. But I only used it for sculpting in this process.

I also exported Vs head from the game into blender and then continuously used sculpting tools in attempt to recreate Vs face. Below you can see the white parts of Vs game head sticking through as I kinda tried to use it as a guide while molding the grey parts. 

Side note getting your Vs game version in blender is a whole other process which I will leave out.

After hours and hours of this, multiple days many, many do overs I was over it and just imported what I had so far back into daz3d. And then in daz I used paid content for Vs muscles to change his body type.These are morphs made by other artists that you can use as sliders within the program.

The way I went about it is very amateur hour it results in a messy sculpt that doesn’t look like the original I was going for. I hide many of the mishaps with a good skin texture, posing, nice lighting plus filters in post. I really hope to improve on him in the future, but I have been a bit demotivated with this ‘’technique’’. 

I’m sure there are other and better techniques but I have yet to figure out how others do it. Hopefully the truth is out there ;) 

So this got really long omg, hopefully this doesn’t scare you and anyone else off to ask any more questions.
