“To pierce the rampart of the dead” (“True Place of the Stag” line 16)

Earlier in the poem, the disappearance of a last stag is discussed. Deer in France were dying out towards the end of WW2. The use of death in this poem may be leaning toward the insinuation of where “The True Place of the Stag” really is. Bonnefoy also may be challenging those trying to save the deer by suggesting something along the lines of “how are you going to bring back the dead.”

Diz aí, bonite! Fiquei até empolgada para responder essa pergunta, pois temos sugestões para dar e vender. Vou vender meu peixinho aqui, e recomendar uma olhadinha na nossa recém atualizada página de prompts. A mod que vos fala se empolgou um pouco por lá... Caso nenhuma ideia da lista lhe apeteça, porém, vou jogar mais algumas abaixo. Bora lá!

Em relação à história, adoraria ver um personagem inspirado no Tablo ou no Henry Lau! Ambos tem uma trajetória bem interessante, e uma lidinha rápida na wiki dos dois já pode te oferecer uma boa base.

Começando com um segredinho mais leve, eu sou fissurada em personagens ligados à família. Adoraria ver um personagem que começou idealista, que se mudou para a Coréia para seguir um sonho e ajudar sua família... Mas, agora que já está com a vida ganha, meio que deixou a família ao relento (podia ser os pais, avós, ou até mesmo um filho que seu personagem simplesmente decidiu deixar pra trás).

Um personagem filho de um diplomata seria divertido de explorar. Podia ser alguém com fama de culto, sempre muito respeitoso, mas na verdade já foi muito insensível nos países em que morou, e aprontou (e muito!) durante sua juventude.

Um personagem que fugiu de seu país natal, por qualquer motivo que seja. Poderia estar jurado de morte, ou quem sabe teve problemas com o governo... Poderia estar fugindo de sua própria família, ou queria se evadir de um crime que cometeu. A lista de possibilidades é enorme!

Na mesma pegada, alguém que era um criminoso de alto escalão, e abandonou seu país por estar muito próximo de ser pego. Mudou-se para a Coréia e assumiu outra identidade, e agora está bem escondido trabalhando como staff em uma das empresas.

Alternativamente, um personagem que, desde jovem, foi colocado em um programa de proteção à testemunha. Cansado de ter de mudar de vida a toda hora, decidiu fazer uma mudança drástica, indo para a Coréia e crendo fielmente que poderia deixar seu passado para trás por lá.

TW: xenofobia | Um personagem que, desde seu debut, é alvo das ondas maiores de ódio por ser estrangeiro e ainda ter dificuldades com a língua. Apesar de ser um músico nato e apaixonado, seu talento é ignorado frequentemente por não ser coreano, o que o deixou retraído em frente às câmeras e, por sua vez, criou um novo ciclo vicioso de postagens cruéis feitas sobre si.

Um personagem que era famoso no exterior mas, por descuido, acabou perdendo tudo. Quando estava prestes a desistir de sua carreira, porém, foi recrutado por uma das empresas, o que lhe deu certo respiro (por um tempo). Entretanto, o personagem ainda tem dificuldades para dar conta de todas as dívidas daquele período, e não chega nem perto do luxo de seus similares por causa disso.

O plot tradicional da criança mimada que conseguiu uma vaguinha no grupo porque seu pai aceitou comprá-la. Apesar de ser medíocre nas áreas musicais, todo mundo acaba abaixando a cabeça para MUSE, porque ele traz muito dinheiro ao grupo e à empresa em si. E, surpreendentemente, MUSE tem muitos fãs, por acabar compensando com o carisma e o visual impecável.

“The alcohol of the declining day / Will spread out on the tiles.” (“True Place of the Stag” lines 7 and 8) The declining day indicates the end of the day, and the reference to alcohol spread out on the tiles can be used to interpret a sunset, illuminating a tiled floor. Once again, he brings nature into his poem.

Dune Du Pilat

“The sand will reverberate / With the tread of obscure arrivals” (“True Place of the Stag” lines 3 and 4)

The Dune du Pilat located in France is the tallest sand dune in Europe. This is another example of Bonnefoy’s persistent use of nature in France in his poems. The reverberating sand could be the wind blowing over the sand, giving it the illusion of a visual reverberation, as sand in the desert often does. The “obscure arrivals” can be interpreted as footsteps or people being lost in the vastness of this sand dune. The reverberating sand may be covering up the footsteps and, with the wind, maybe obscuring the vision of those present at Dune du Pilat.

The True Place of the Stag

“A last Stag vanishing / Among the trees,” (“True Place of the Stag” lines 1 and 2) In France, deer are a symbol of power and loyalty, and are referred to as “the kings of the forest.” The French Forest represents 13% of the wooded areas in the European Union. The lines of the poem talk about the "a"last stag" disappearing into the forest. Towards the end of WW2, there were not many deer left, almost dying out. Bonnefoy grew up in France, and as such, he was in France during the second world war. It is possible that he is referring to this time period.
