I’m normal about them I say lying through my teeth. So another Doll Custom because the Wives. This my Shiro x Ariel Agenda. But this is why I haven’t been drawing a ton recently I was working on these! And waiting for the right weather to spray them.

This is my first Nendoroid custom and only like, under double digits for modding/customs I’ve done with decent knowledge (I’m gonna say putting makeup on and cutting doll hair as a child doesn’t count lol). These were originally “Station Staff” Kamaishi Mana Nendoroid #373 and “Motorman” Matoba Marina Nendoroid #374! I can’t take too much credit for the faces here because I literally used the original faces as a base just drew over and recolored them. I made a choice to give Ariel the more rounded eye and Shiro the more angular ones (which I think is the correct choice) but Ariel’s do look a little big on here. The Hair was mostly just sculpting the bangs and Shiro’s braid. I used spray sealant (I have safety gear don’t worry) and water color pencils for the faces (except Shiro’s eyelashes that had to be acrylic paint to show up) like the doll repainted pros do but Shiro’s eyebrows were to thin to make white. I used miliputt (that is almost certainly spelled wrong but two part clay) and acrylic paint for hair which I then sealed with spray sealant and mod podge (just for gloss and texture cause raw paint feels bad to touch to me). I plan to buy them Nendoroid Doll bodies for some more pose-ability (trying to get the stand around Shiro’s braid is a challenge ngl) and outfit options!

( as i am sure i have mentioned before, i have my game set to autonomous and rarely interfere, so, i don't know how long the option might have been there or even if it is part of the game or a mod , but i just noticed it today ( because i wanted to have duo take a bath before posing them since if they are low on hygiene, it leaves marks on their clothing ).

the option to 'use towel after bathing' showed up and i thought, 'wow!, are they going to dry themselves off?' cause ngl, that would be kinda cute! instead, it means that instead of putting their clothes back on they walk around the house in a towel. they do everything in a towel, like it is clothing or something... and it's not even a cute little sexy towel. color me disappointed all the way around. )

frozen hate discussion??? 👀👀 take my hand

no but really. even just aside from how they took a pretty good fairy tale and did... um, nothing with it? nothing interesting at least, frozen is still just a mediocre movie with bad designs and music that's really just okay.

what really bothers me more than anything else is that frozen just comes off as cynical. it's making fun of older movies that are better than it.

every single time someone tries to make a fairy tale edgy/adult or feels the need to point out every unrealistic aspect about it an angel dies. "you can't marry a man you just met" represents a fundamental misunderstanding of both the genre and the disney movies based on it. it's this annoying tongue-in-cheek tone and utter pessimism that quite literally sucks all the magic out of the movie, and then they have the balls to make fun of better films. it's just cynical and grating and honestly coming from disney itself just annoys me. oh you think snow white and cinderella are unrealistic? you think love at first sight is stupid? should we throw a party? should we invite buzzfeed.

whereas movies like shrek, which also try to deconstruct the fairy tale/disney genre, actually work because instead of someone busting out an "erm, actually!" line every five minutes or pulling some cheap twist, they simply tell a story that reverses the tropes. and there's no moment in shrek where the movie turns to the audience and goes "you dumb dumb fuck ass idiots came here to see a fairy tale? well fuck you! twist villain attack!"

I don't much care for tangled either but at least you can tell it was made in earnest. also literally everything frozen was applauded for has been done better before. the sisters thing? lilo and nani have an actual bond. playboy villain? gaston. taking time to fall in love? beauty and the beast? tarzan? hercules? literally like most disney movies? anna and kristoff were together for like a week before saying I love you. get real.

I agree with everything. Honestly, making fun of past movies would be okay if it succeeded at all. Enchanted exists, it made the same points, and it worked soooo well. In Frozen, Anna is told she can't marry a man she just met, then gets with Kristoff within like two days. Love's not supposed to be a major part of the story? A whole song is sung by the love interests' family about how they should get together (they get together later). So much of the movie is focused on a romance with so little chemistry instead of being about the sister relationship the film claims to be about!

I should say I don't hate Frozen. It's fine, but I don't want fine, ya know? I want great!!! (Also didn't love Tangled either. Idk what management change happened in the animation department in the mid 2000s, but they really lost the groove around that time. Maybe Bob did a shake up)

My toddler hates being carried but as an infant he LOVED IT. I would think that would've somehow translated over to toddlerhood but I guess not. Kinda odd tbh I guess.

Full Evolutionary Tree for So I'm a Mod, So What?

I decided to put together a full evolutionary tree for my Kumo Desu based mod for Backpack Hero.

It is more or less canon, except for the Deviant Taratect (based on the lord of the labyrinth's silly palette swaps,), and apparently Lesser Taratects might not be able to become Taratects? Allowing that leads to a more even probability distribution of end caps, so I allowed it.

Green are findable as loot in the mod, orange no longer evolve, and white arrows are for Taratects which periodically lay eggs.

like we can still criticize the casting of Sydney Agudong as Nani Pelekai because of colorism and light washing.

Like its obvious that Nani pelekai doesn't pass the paper bag test and Sydney on the left is v light (almost white passing!)
