My memory of Losers was that it was this little honky-tonk all by its lonesome the last time I was here (you know, like a loser) but between the new downtown Hilton on one side and the other new building (seen in the top building) going up on the other side, it’s getting closed in. 

I came here five years ago for some respite on my last afternoon in town, and it was fine--the tots were good, the beers were solid, and the live music was good. At least one bachelorette party came through while I was there and that’s how I learned about the existence of picklebacks, and I didn’t linger all that long. 

This time around we went there for drinks on a few occasions, though I was less-inclined to go when I saw a “Let’s Go Brandon” hat on display in the back of the bar. (Profile in political courage, that.) I checked out the rooftop bar which I wasn’t into as there were no draft options, but what’s interesting is that they now have this Moctails and Dreams bar that’s allegedly a smoking bar, but it’s important to note that the products that they sell are Delta-9 derived from hemp as that’s the only legally-allowed cannabis allowed in TN per the 2018 Farm Bill. If you live in a state that doesn’t have any legalized marijuana, that might not be an issue for you, but if you’re used to actual cannabis, do not be fooled by the promises contained here.

A list of all the types of mocktails I know of.

Soda - this is just flavoring and carbonated water. You can use club soda or tonic water to add other flavors. Lots of good options and at its most basic it’s a syrup and carbonation.

Sour - unlike their alcoholic counterparts, sours are a summer drink popularized for their cooling effect. They are a mixture of salt cold water and a strong acid.

Coffee - yes you heard me correctly. Coffee is a moctail. Go to a barista contest or con and you will understand what I mean. Manny adults see coffee as a means to an end, not set of delicious drinks. I call them toffers (like the ATLA character).

Hot chocolates - ultimately there are a tone of chocolate based drinks with a wide variety of flavors. These are all drinks that are delicious, and can be made into a mocktail like form. They are preferablely served hot. I call them hotchtails

I strongly feel that vinegar and milk based drinks deserve to go here but I have neither name nor example for them. Many doferent vinegars can be sipped to begin with, but that’s not exactly a mocktail. And I have not come up with a milk based drink that isn’t just simple chocolate milk or eggnog.

Steak: medium rare but more on the rare side.

Milk: Oat milk

Alcohol: usually whiskey ginger but I generally like simple cocktails with 3 or 4 ingredients. I've also really been into fancy moctails lately lol.

Warm drink: green tea with honey
