Basic bitch Chuldur!Rogue mockup so you can see my vision.
The default ‘Just-a-Chuldur cosplaying his favourite Doctor Who character the Master’ one is macaw based, not just for a The Master And Margarita reference, but for the same reason shes a parrot in Sweet’s novel. He’s a mimic. And rainbowy gay.
For the secret nesting dolls situation of ‘the Master ““fobwatched””* to an unknowing Chuldur who’s playing his favourite character the Master’ mirroring Ruby playing a Chuldur playing Ruby in the episode, go straight to the phoenix side - cut the blues and greens. Now yes they did already have to change Emily!Chuldur’s beak in post-production from its original black to yellow, and a phoenix if we’re going default would have a similar beak but in pure black. But you can have him in grey/white face-feathers which is going to make it show up better on camera, as opposed to raven-turned-starling Emily, so I think that would be fine. And still looks generic bird that the non-discerning viewer won’t think too much about the species of bird before he burns.

I hand sew because its ummm.. better? easier to control?? not because the machine scares me, i don't know how to use it, its constantly breaking on me (probably user error), and it makes this dumb little ringing sound that no one else can hear but its so bad....

Ok, I'm finally out of mockup hell, so here's where I'm at with my Lydia cosplay!
I knew that I eventually wanted to make the musical version of her dress as soon as Jackera Davis stepped on stage when I saw the musical last July, but was terrified of making said dress. It is unnecessarily complicated as it is based off of an Edwardian lingerie dress (not that kind of lingerie--think Bernadette Banner's Mary Poppins dress), but a 2008 goth version. So I decided to smash together Butterick's Edwardian dress pattern (B5970) that I've used before for an Edwardian Lady (of Lady and the Tramp) cosplay with Simplicity's lace dress pattern (8545).
From there I mapped out the panels for the bodice and tested them out using some cheap costume satin that I had used on accident for a disaster of a 50s pink Cinderella dress. I was able to refine the panels until I got them where I wanted them and then moved onto the skirt panels. Because I had refined the bodice panel pattern, I was able to replicate it for the skirt, but widened the "non-stripe" panels.
I only have a couple weeks left to make this, but I can't wait to move onto final fabrics tomorrow 😍
If you made it this far, here is Mia "helping" me work on the skirt panels.

No... listen, you're working on a Ragatha cosplay and you have ideas for Pomni and Gangle cosplays
You do NOT need to consider a Queenie cosplay you do NOT SKSBSKWLSKDNSKAKSJSJ

Dress!! Did not expect to spend multiple hours today trying to fix the sleeves, but here we are. Still needs a bunch of work like hems, levelling the hem of the skirt, binding the neckline and cleaning up a bunch of edges on the inside. Might also tack down the gathers a bit, but most is gonna be covered by the overdress and capelet, so we'll see
Tumblr media
Ignore the kinda weird fit around the shoulders, I can't zip it up completely on my own xD
Speaking of, zipper is not the worst even tho I still don't have an invisible zipper foot for my machine (and I basted it facing the wrong way, with the pull towards the inside, at first...)

Also made spaghetti :3

Day 2!
I began with zigzagging across all the edges of all the pieces and then did the bust darts
Tumblr media
Since I'm not doing anything fancy like the pattern with a concealed zip or in line pockets all I had to do was to sew all the side seams together
Tumblr media
and then I was done! but there's a problem rip
Tumblr media Tumblr media
see that strange bagginess happening on the front and how tight it is over my hips yea that's not supposed to happen damn my wide ass hips lol
I'll have to adjust the bust at least, tho I'm less worried about the hips cuz the side seam in the tunic is pretty open which hopefully will be able to accommodate my hips
Tumblr media
Here's a final image of it on the mannequin despite the issues with it I'm kinda happy with how it turned out and I can't wait to do the real thing

Cosplans—Rem fancy outfit
more horrible sketches i'm so sorry
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This started mostly because I wanted to make a doublet, and I wanted to make another cosplay for Rem. And since I don't really have the skills to make the Avatar a fancy outfit seemed a fun alternative.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The doublet, loosely inspired by the Elizabethan era, has cap-sleeves, a high collar, and buttons (i love putting hundreds of buttons on costumes apparently), it will be decorated, either slashed with a dark red fabric underneath or quilted, but i'm not certain which one. I'm not 100% certain about what's going on with the skirt section (especially at the back) but I'll work that out when I do the mock-up.
The shirt is dark red chiffon with long cuffs. I just really like the loose semi-sheer sleeves. This may also involve a lot of small buttons.
I decided to go with breeches, currently laced up, though i might change my mind when I make a mock-up. I want some form of embellishment down the side and on the cuffs. The style is more Georgian, because I feel like the sleeker cut suits Rem better.
I'm also making something inspired by this to help me achieve the silhouette I'm after, though this is mostly an excuse to make another historically inspired foundation garment beecause I love them.

Let's do a mockup for the tunic! When altering a pattern or even making a pattern completely from scratch, it's always smart to purchase cheap muslin and/or use old sheets to make a practice mockup. When that mockup is complete, you take your basting stitches out and use those pieces as your final pattern.
Tumblr media
Let's start by putting the front together and adding the neckline trim.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Getting the neckline trim sewn just at the bottom and ironing the seams open. We pin it to the open neckline, sew and flip rightside out. Press.
Tumblr media
Tuck the edges under, press and pin then topstitch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back sewn and then the side backs sewn to that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do the same to the front and then pin and stitch the back to the front via the shoulders.
Tumblr media
Iron and fold the edges of the sleeves under, attach to the tunic and then stitch up the sides and under arms.....
Tumblr media
Well....shit. Too tight especially around the hips and too short, soooo back to the drawing board and more muslin. This is why you do a mock up first!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Patterns adjusted and cut out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Front sewn together, neckline trim sewn together, flipped rightside out and topstitched once again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Side fronts sewn to front.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back sewn, side backs sewn to that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shoulders pinned, matching seams. Sewn. Sleeves reattached.
Tumblr media
Better fit with a little tailoring.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Collar pinned, sewn, flipped rightside out, pressed, one side bottom edge pressed inward. Attached to tunic.
Tumblr media
Perfect!

Hello friends!
I will show you how i made Sailor Uranus!
First of all because there's A LOT of work and photos and videos I'll seperate it in different posts
Second we decided to change slightly the designs.
Different fabrics and a few other changes.
The most major one you can see in this work in progress post.
We decided NOT to do a leotard (body) but instead to do a corset!
We wanted a more elegant approach and let me tell you I AM SO HAPPY with the decision
The outcome is magnificent and stands out a lot without being a distraction!
On this post you can see the mock up for the corset.
The pattern is changed a lot in order to add a shoulder piece and make it fitting!
I think mock ups are life saving that's why i always keep spare fabric to use as mock ups
To the next post I'll show you the actual corset and the fabrics!
Are you excited?
What do you think so far?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments
Also remember our work is entirely HANDMADE and we accept costume commission!
We could even make you your own design of the Sailor Senshi or this design we made ❤️
If you're interested please message me!
Your support means a lot ❤️
