The Mo'esh diaspora
As one might expect of a long-established space-faring race, Tilp society has broken up into many different space-nations, and by far the most powerful and most awful is the authoritarian and imperialistic Shining Ascendancy. Not content to exploit its own citizens and wage war on other Tilp nations, the Ascendancy also has a history of invading and subjugating less powerful alien races, not because they need their resources or anything, but because their culture is incredibly racist and they like throwing their weight around.
So one day, many many years ago, Ascendancy scout ships found a new species to dick-slap into submission: a small, ugly (to their eyes) people that called themselves Mo'e-Mo'e. At this time the Mo'e-Mo'e had expanded throughout their solar system and were on the cusp of developing their own version of the Transit drive, and being a naturally very inquisitive and gregarious species they were all very excited to see what, and possibly who, was out there. So, when the Shining Ascendancy's invasion fleet first showed up at the edge of their system, they were thrilled at the sudden contact with an alien race.
Unfortunately, once communications were established the commander of the Ascendancy fleet began issuing all sorts of onerous demands, basically commanding all Mo'esh nations to bow down and accept the Shining Ascendancy as their new masters. The Mo'e-Mo'e then got together and issued a counter-offer, cordially inviting the Shining Ascendancy to partake of their collective genitalia. For some reason they weren't happy with that offer, so both parties moved on to aggressive negotiations.
It was at this point the Ascendancy learned the hard way that the Mo'e-Mo'e fight like cats: fast, loud, and with very little concern for their own safety. Combined with their tenacity and their high natural intelligence, the Mo'e-Mo'e war quickly became an embarrassing slog that the Ascendancy was nonetheless even more committed to win because fuck it, they won't be subjects, make the nasty little fuckers slaves, that'll show 'em to stand up to the might of the Shining Ascendancy.
All throughout this, Mo'esh scientists had been perfecting their FTL technology, and soon FTL-capable ships were being produced. Originally intended to take the fight to the Ascendancy, those plans were derailed during one particular battle when the captain of a critically damaged Mo'esh warship instead decided to evacuate his surviving crew, disable the FTL system's safety protocols, and then ram the Ascendancy fleet's command vessel at several thousand times the speed of light.
The impact completely vaporized both ships and released enough energy to destroy or damage a good number of Ascendancy support ships. The Mo'e-Mo'e thought this was the coolest fucking thing ever, and the captain's final transmission, We are Mo'e-Mo'e, and our teeth are sharp, immediately became a battlecry against oppression that still survives to this day.
The Ascendancy, on the other hand, with their massive and easily bruised national ego, were absolutely livid. How dare these absolute savages, who only ruled over a single insignificant star, use such an underhanded trick! That's it, forget about enslaving the little shits, KILL THEM ALL!
So, they nailed an FTL drive to a dwarf planet and rammed that into the Mo'esh homeworld. Though there was enough time between the invasion fleet withdrawal and the Ascendancy's counterattack for the Mo'e-Mo'e to slap FTL drives on every ship they could and begin evacuating as many as they could in anticipation of whatever it was they knew must be coming, billions of Mo'e-Mo'e still died in the impact, and millions more when the Ascendancy then went through the system scouring all their offworld colonies.
Over the intervening centuries, the Mo'e-Mo'e who escaped the fate of their homeworld eventually split into two main groups: Settlers, who became refugees on (non-Ascendancy) Tilp, Vrann, or human worlds, and Children of the Void, who became nomadic space traders. Settlers and the CoV don't always get along, but they're all united in their massive grudge against the Shining Ascendancy.

Hey I have a question. Both in Legend of Zhen Huan and Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace, after a woman gives birth she wears a special embroidered headband with beads? Is there any meaning behind it? Thanks a lot!
This is called a mo'e. See also the mo'e tag on @ziseviolet's blog for more info.

hanahaki part 3
(Soap- Purple, Simon- Red, Gary- Blue, Makarov- green, Price- Pink, Kyle- Orange)
Bishop got in with the medics who rushed to Laswell and help her onto the gurney.
"Half of the base is damaged and some of them are still here." Bishop informs them. "One of you can go with Kate."
"I'll stay." Roach tells them. "I haven't been on a mission for a while."
"Guess I'll go with laws." Gaz walked away with Kate to the transport to the hospital.
Ghost took Roach to the helipad leaving the taking over the base back to Agent Bishop.
The helicopter arrived and they got on. Killing the pilot and co-pilot as they were wearing the wrong uniform and took their seats and flew to where Soap and Price were.
°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°°
Soap knew the place well and struggled to carry the bleeding, passed out captain on his back. He made a stop at a coffee shop, placed the captain on a somewhat untouched sofa and searched for supplies. He searched the kitchen when he heard Price speak again. He ran back to him.
"Cap! Hang on." Soap helped the captain to sit up.
"Wh-what'-ss happening?" He tried to ask Soap.
"Makarov shot you and my comms are somewhat down and yours is broken. I carried you here." Soap replied. "Come on. Turn I gotta disinfect it." Soap didn't care that his accent is coming back.
Price tried to take off his vest and then turn, so Soap helped him out. Soap got tot the wound and cleaned it and put bandages on him.
"Bullet is still in there. Once we get back you need surgery. " He stood up to throw away the bloodied cottons and fabric. " Here. Put it on." He hands price a clean shirt he found.
Price took it. " I got a question for you." Soap hums a reply. "What's your real name?" Soap stopped and looks at Price.
"Why do you ask?" And came closer with bottles of water.
"Makarov called you Ivanka and I want to know why." Price took a bottle. "Before the others are going to question you."
Soap stayed silent for a bit. "Ivanka MacTavish." He replied to him. "Real's name Ivanka Machavish." (Accent! Btw)
Price looks a t him, eyes soft like a father's. Johnny looks away. Price then starts to feel like he's about to pass out again. Johnny took notice.
He helped Price to lay down. "Get some sleep. I'll wake you when we're leaving." He told him before John passed out for the second time that day.
Night fell and Soap woke up the captain for as they both got back onto the road to avoiding the enemy.
They got only a third of the path to the safehouse when Soap coughed the petals out, again.
"You need rest." Price tells his sergeant.
"The team needs you mo'e 'han me. Le's get our asses to the safe house." Soap replied and continued walking with Price.
They both walked and walked, talking about random subjects to entertain and keep the other awake. A few enemy solders were walking around looking for them two but died by Soap and Price's hands.
The sun was rising and they hid away in a abandoned hotel, Soap let Price sleep first as he is the most injured out of the two.
Ghost and Roach searched the places they been in the air and then they landed. They continued to search on foot.
The two found dead solders and a note book at some Café. Ghost recognized it as Soap's.
Near the notebook, there was blood and two empty bottles of water.
"They were here," Roach spoke. "Both alive."
"One dying. There's a lot of almost dried blood." Ghost pointed out. "Let's go. They might have not gone far." They continued to search for them as Nik flew around before going back to base for refill.
Price woke up to Soap coughing again but this time one month was up and to the petals there was blood.
"Soap-" Price put a hand on the other. "I'll take watch. No need to torture you longer." Soap relentlessly agreed and lied down to get some shut eye.
Price got worried for Soap. He knew how long it takes to kill one. He took his gun and watched the door and Soap for anything.
Price got worried for Soap. He knew how long it takes to kill one. He took his gun and watched the door and Soap for anything.
While Kate Laswell got taken to the hospital and into surgery, making Gaz wait for Kate's wife to arrive and for Kate to stay alive after the surgery. He called her wife and gave her the address.
They both stood worried waiting around the waiting room for a few hours before a doctor came in and asked for Laswell's wife. She replied by asking how she is and the man replied.
"I am truly sorry, but your wife is dead." The man gave them an apologetic look. " We tried everything. The trick you did, sergeant worked for a while, of it lasted a bit more, maybe she'd lived."
Laswell's wife hugged Gaz as she cried onto his shoulder.
"I guess I'll call Ghost and tell him." The doctor led them to where Kate's body is and waited outside so the two of them can have a moment.
Ghost sat down to where Soap probably sat at and gets a call. He answers it and puts it at his ear.
"Ghost speak-" "Laswell's dead." Gaz spoke pushing back tears. "What?" "She's dead, Simon." Gaz's voice bit more broken and sad. "She- she can't be." "I'm sorry mate, but it's true." The Ghost hung up the call and looks at Roach.
Roach looks back to Simon with concern. "Laswell's dead..." Simon told him. "She's not- she-" Gary went to hug him as Simon cried, The non-physical Ghost mask broken on the floor with Roach's.
Them both knowing that Price and Soap has no idea of what just happened.

Last year I tried making some of my various characters in Hero Forge, to varying degrees of success. I think this one, the alien space pirate Ip-Sing Fesh from my space opera 'verse, came out the best. And I just came across it again today so here it is.
Ip-Sing is a Mo'e-Mo'e, which are essentially a race of four-foot-tall marsupial space goblins. Specifically she is a Child of the Void, one of those who chose to remain as space-wandering nomads rather than settle as refugees following the destruction of their homeworld at the hands of one of the local dick-waving galactic superpowers.
Not shown here is her sweet space helmet, with a retractable faceplate that I imagine as looking something like a Balinese mask:
It also has a built-in voice modulator to make her sound like the Mouth of Sauron. (Without it she sounds more like Dexter. The one with the laboratory.)
Also, since the Mo'e-Mo'e are marsupials I based their teeth in my head on those of Thylacoleo:
Ip-Sing had her chompers coated in a gold-colored metal alloy both for decoration (jewelry being a liability on a spaceship in a setting where inertial dampening isn't really a thing), and to protect them from damage when she uses her species' natural ability to projectile vomit as a defense mechanism.

listening to this closing my eyes watching a lisa/*ziz amv in my mind. important note this is an amv made by cutting and editing bits of an existing show. animated show probably. but still. it's very trippy and symbolic
and while we're at it:

listening to this closing my eyes and watching a generic but fun taylor ass-kicking compilation. also made by cutting the secret worm show in my mind but this one is 3d animated. this is what I'd put on a redditguy worm 3D animation if I had the choice. lots of bits of this one are artfully slow-mo'ed. dramatic camera angles up the wazoo

I just wanted to say that i saw your "next year among the diaspora" post and it really settled something that I've been wrestling internally. I wanted to thank you for sharing that story. Chag Pesach Sameach!
Shalom aleichem aun gut'n Mo'ed, meyn freynd.
I am very glad it reached you with positivity. Especially as considering something unconsidered in that which we have considered a thousand times before is at the very heart of Pesach. All the more when it aids us to better realise liberation, as individuals and as a community. So in many ways even this exchange is a mitzvah, and I will return my thanks to you for helping me realise that.
I think we need to read these things, whether the Haggadah or Albert Memmi's The Colonizer And The Colonised, in ways that help us understand how to uphold the mitzvot in meaningful ways, rather than dwell on mainstream simplifications. I spoke about this with a comrade (@derdra), who observed that letting liberal nationalism stake claim to our liturgical language effectively cedes ground to zionist narratives, and I essentially agree. But I also believe that we, the diaspora, must celebrate how we endure and thrive across the globe.
So I'll thank you again, for reminding me that we really are never alone. When we bless our wine, when we light our candles, when we stumble over our broken Hebrew, when we pledge solidarity with Palestine, and with all the people of the world who live under the yoke of oppression, we stand together.
Chag Pesach sameach, and solidarity forever!

Nova blinks a few times taking all the information in. “Jeez holy-“ They pause not wanting to curse because that’s disrespectful. “Pickle sticks…” they say slowly making sure they wouldn’t get in trouble from using that term instead and making sure the young ones weren’t around to hear their almost slip up. “That’s a lot to take in at once,” lost for words they fidget with the rim of their shirt. “I-I’m sorry you had to go through all of that but I’m glad you are a lot better now.”

Job 31: 5-8. "The Odette."
Continual discrimination is the goal of the graduate of the Shule. Even after one attains to Shabbat and wins all the arguments associated with what is and what is not Shabbos, one cannot fail to maintain 100 percent of the balance of the skills found in the writing.
The process of maintaining is called offsetting by the Zohar. Offsetting "nonambivalence" is the indeed the essence of the Zohar itself.
5 “If I have walked with falsehood or my foot has hurried after deceit— 6 let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am blameless— 7 if my steps have turned from the path, if my heart has been led by my eyes, or if my hands have been defiled, 8 then may others eat what I have sown, and may my crops be uprooted.
The Values in Gematria are:
v. 5-6: Let God weigh me with honest scales. The Number is 8718, חזיח, "in the chest." = Ephod.
v. 7-8: If my steps have turned may my crops be uprooted. The Number is 11649, יאודט, yodt, "the power in one's hands..."
"Placed after a word, our particle forms a possessive form: something held in one's hand or one's power, and as such it can usually be translated with 'of' or 'my'. The noun ספר (seper) refers to a book, record or account and the term 'my book' is spelled ספרי.
A suffixed yod may also form an adjective, which obviously also reflects a kind of possessiveness, and in that case the form ספרי would mean bookish, pertaining to a record, or may even refer to someone from a place called Seper (in which case the form ספרי would mean Seperite). The regular plural of our word would be ספרים but in its semi-genitive form (Hebrew has no real cases) the final ם drops off and again the form ספרי remains, in this case to mean 'books of ...'.
The Ephod supposedly contains the bezels of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, but the Zohar contains all of the knowledge in the Torah and Tanakh all at once. The etymology includes "odette" which means to repeatedly practice what is learned so as to bear witness:
"Root עדד ('adad) describes a repeated passing by or over, or a repeated encountering. Noun עדה ('idda) describes any well-worn item.
Verb עדה ('ada I) means to advance or pass on. Nouns עד ('ad) and ועד (w'ad) describe the difficult concept of a future era advancing upon the now, or else the prey or booty upon which a predator advances. The conjunction עד ('ad) or עדי ('ady) means "as far as" or until.
The same verb, namely עדה ('ada II) is used to mean to adorn or ornament oneself — that is: to have items approach the canvas of one's bulk in order to testify of some social rank or perhaps the trade or order one belongs to. Noun עדי ('adi) means ornamentation: fancy or declarative things worn on one's body or clothes.
Verb יעד (ya'ad) means to meet, habitually and repeatedly rather than incidentally. Noun עדה ('eda) means congregation or some other joint collective. Nouns מועד (mo'ed), מועד (mo'ad) and מועדה (mu'ada) describe a place (or time) of meeting.
Verb עוד ('ud) means to return and repeat. Noun עוד ('od) denotes an addition, repetition or continuance. Nouns עד ('ed), עדה ('eda), עדה ('eda), עדת ('edut), עדות ('edut) and תעודה (te'uda) all mean witness or testimony in various nuances, and verb עוד ('ud) means to bear witness."

An ancient “holiday”
A post by John Parsons:
The prophetic holiday of Tu B’Av begins this evening at sundown, chaverim....
====
Tu B'Av, the 15th day of the month of Av, is a time associated with love and joy in Jewish tradition. Just as Yom Kippur originally celebrated the reconciliation of Israel to the LORD after the sin of the Golden Calf, so Tu B'Av originally celebrated the reconciliation of Israel for the Sin of the Spies. Therefore both the fifteenth of Av and Yom Kippur became joyous times celebrating loving restoration to the LORD. The Babylonian Talmud (Ta'anit 31a) states "Israel had no holidays as joyous as the fifteenth of Av and the Day of Atonement, when the maidens of Israel would go out and dance in the vineyards..."
An old Jewish legend says that 40 days before a person is conceived in the womb, God decrees who that person's life partner will be (Talmud: Mo'ed Katan 18b). The sages calculate that Tu B'Av falls 40 days before Elul 25, the traditional date of the creation of the universe, and infer that at that time - before the foundation of the world - God "chose us to be His beloved (Eph. 1:4). At any rate, Tu B’Av reminds us of the deeper truth that you were created to be in a love relationship with God!
Chag Tu B'Av Sameach, ahuvim.

On the subject of trivia about aliens I made up:
B-3-K is an observer construct of the Cluster, which is from the same space opera 'verse as the Mo'e-Mo'e, so here's some trivia about it that nobody wants or asked for.
B-3-K and the Cluster also originated from that online roleplay I was involved in. While there it was an antagonist, an inscrutable alien presence bent on exterminating all life in the universe simply to see if it could, this current version is more of a neutral, if rather snarky and condescending, observer.
My original version of B-3-K was a herald construct, and her purpose was to appear on worlds targeted by the Cluster and inform them of their impending extinction using a form they would recognize. She was a lot of fun to write for, since her only apparent mood was "sarcastic condescending asshole" and she could say whatever she wanted since any attempt to shut her up would be potentially catastrophic. (Not that it would achieve anything anyway, since she also wasn't alive in the first place and the only way to get rid of a construct is if the Cluster deletes it for some reason.)
Clarke's Third Law is entirely in effect when it comes to the Cluster; it's so mind-bogglingly advanced by the standards of the rest of the setting that nobody has any idea how it can do the things it does, and some suspect that it may even predate the formation of the universe entirely.
I've always deliberately refused to come up with an actual explanation for the exact nature of the Cluster, even for my own private use, since I want to keep it as weird and mysterious as possible. The closest I've come to describing what it is is a character seeing one of its non-humanoid constructs and describing it as painful to look at and looking like "physical math."
Rather than using captive wormholes or Alcubierre-type drives to travel interstellar distances like the other races of the galaxy, the Cluster's constructs instead use holes opened in the fabric of reality itself. Looking through one of these holes is not recommended, since most beings' brains are not capable of processing what they'd see. While catching a glimpse of what's outside our observable reality isn't likely to drive one insane, it does commonly cause headaches, disorientation, and nausea.
The Cluster's constructs are typically composed of some sort of unclassified exotic matter encased within a protective field. If this field is breached, then the construct disintegrates and the exotic matter (dubbed, for lack of a better term, "Cluster particles") instantly and violently annihilates everything it comes into contact with.
Nobody knows where the Cluster's homeworld is, or if it even has one. Many who are aware of its existence suspect that it actually exists outside our universe entirely.
Given that I've played around with the idea of all my creative works existing within a big shared multiverse, my original genocidal Cluster and my current neutral Cluster could conceivably be one and the same, interacting with multiple universes simultaneously but behaving differently in each one; like the cosmic equivalent of a bored kid watching ants on one section of sidewalk while also burning them with a magnifying glass on another.
B-3-K's name, as well as that of the Cluster itself, are references to Lexx.
