now that i’m replaying Outriders (2021) here’s a great goddamn writing tip:

manufacturing drama for drama’s sake isn’t good writing. if your characters are acting out of character specifically so that you can make something OH NO TERRIBLE happen for maximum drama that actually doesn’t effect anything else in the plot except to try and garner emotional reactions? that’s bad writing. it’s just bad writing. there’s no getting around it. it pisses off your audience and adds nothing but resentment.

god i love this game but i literally had to slide down in my chair and laugh hysterically so i didn’t scream.
