Ramble/Rant on Kiro’s New S2 Chapter 26-29 [CN server]

I’m not very good at writing cohesive posts so I’m just gonna try putting my thoughts and feelings about Kiro’s new chapter (released 03/22/2022) into bullet points and hope that I don’t go off on some random tangent. I’ll try to keep it short and only discuss the major points. Just to be safe I’ll be putting this under spoiler cuts so DON’T READ to avoid spoilers.

I cannot believe PG pulled the same stunt twice one year later. You know that famous quote “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me three times, shame on both of us”? Well, that’s exactly what happened although that third part of the quote didn’t occur....at least not yet. A warning to all Kiro stans: DO NOT TRUST A SINGLE KIRO KARMA IMAGE IN THE FUTURE especially this one.

Why? Because what you see is not always what you get. I thought I was finally gonna get a romantic, lovey-dovey scene between Kiro and MC especially after all that has happened in the last several chapters with them, I felt that it was much needed. But NO!!! Instead I got stabbed in the heart AGAIN!!! THAT WAS A WHOLE DREAM SEQUENCE!!! IT WASN’T EVEN REAL!!! ARE YOU FREAKIING KIDDING ME!?!? Talk about dying of thirst and having a glass of water dangling in front and see it being poured out and being soaked into the ground 💔💔💔😭😭😭

I never wanted to strangle a fictional character so much until now and that character is Dr. Dre. Who is Dr. Dre? He is the one responsible for giving Kiro so much trauma and PTSD while being a test subject as a young child. Here’s the f*cked up part. Dr. Dre is an Evolver and guess what his Evol is? It’s healing. Do you see the direction of where this is going? And there was this line:

Kiro: Just do your job. Don’t touch me.

A little off topic but I hope Bian Jiang didn’t lose his voice or got a nose bleed from that voice acting performance during that scene.

In the last Kiro chapter, Kiro asks MC what her stance is on Evolvers. She believes Evolvers are just like everyone else. They’re no different from ordinary people despite them having superpowers. In this new chapter, we found out what Kiro thinks about Evolvers. He straight up tells MC that he wants a world with no Evol. Kiro is not a naturally-born Evolver. He was made into one. The Evol he obtained is pretty much useless. If it wasn’t for Evol, Kiro would not have been involved in those inhumane experiments and as a result obtained an Evol that passively attracts people and control them. He would have lived a ordinary life as a human being without so much suffering and being seen as pawn to be used. He would meet MC and have a carefree relationship with her without worrying about her life or his life being in danger constantly. He wouldn’t need to have to fight so hard and tirelessly for people to accept him for who he is and not what he is due to his Evol. All his life, Kiro never thought Evol was good in relation to his Evol specifically. I remembered way, way back in s1 when MC was in Winter World and she met another Kiro, he asks her if she thinks Evol is this “good thing” that she says it is. MC’s belief is that Evolvers and ordinary humans can coexist peacefully but Kiro (acting as Helios at the time) just mocks her and says that humanity is complicated which leads me to my next point. 

in these past few chapters, we can clearly see the relations between Evolvers and ordinary people getting more and more intense. I understand why MC just wants peace between the two opposing sides but it’s just not that simple. Her efforts to bridge the gap keep getting backfired on her and she starts to question whether or not what she’s doing is right or wrong and if her beliefs are just. She voices these feelings to Kiro and he reminds her of their agreement they made 4 years ago in Never Forgotten date. He tells her that despite everything falling apart around her, it’s normal for her to feel self-doubt but she shouldn’t lose her inner self like him.

Kiro: Hey, I’m Kiro, not a test subject.

She should keep fighting for what she believes in no matter if it’s right or wrong- “choose or you will be chosen”. Since the beginning of s2, MC has put a LOT of responsibilities on her shoulders and take on everything by herself because she wants to be on equal footing with the guys and fight alongside them. Now that she doesn’t have her Evol anymore, she feels like she has to push herself even harder in which Kiro says that it’s okay for her to slow down and take a break and she decides to do just that however...

MC and Kiro get confronted by NW and the chapter just abruptly ends with Kiro leaving the scene and NW chasing after him. From what Kiro was saying to them, it seems like he was waiting for NW to show up because he tells them they’re quite slow in their actions. Before leaving, Kiro tells MC to remember what he said earlier. Now MC is left with a lot of questions like why did Kiro decide now of all times to get his hearing back which makes sense because I thought he already came to terms with it. Also, who’s to say that his ears are permanently healed. Would he have to constantly rely on Dr. Dre if his hearing ends up deteriorating again? Kiro he’s fighting for a world with no evol but yet if it wasn’t for Evol, he wouldn’t have his hearing back. I don’t think Kiro should owe this man anything after what was done to him as a child. 

I’m sorry if this ended up being longer than what it is and not making any sense but overall, I did not expect the roller coaster of pain in this chapter. I thought I was past all the earlier angst but got thrown more in my face instead. It just never ends. What is “happiness”...is there such a thing in this game....I don’t know anymore. I honestly have no idea what is going to happen next. I think for the first time, I don’t want the next set of new chapters to come too quickly. On top of that, Kiro’s new bday karma/date is coming soon on CN server and I’m so apprehensive about the content. I’ve always wanted more insight on Kiro’s backstory but my poor heart can’t take much more. If this keeps up, I don’t know how I’m gonna survive the rest of the year with this game.

MLQC CN Lucien - Chapter 13-15 (Season 2)

I looked up at Lucien, his eyes were bright, as if filled with the whole spring.

Just walking side by side with him like this, I seem to have a good feeling that everything is starting in a new direction

On the lawn, several children were chasing and running, waiting in the wind.

Looking at the colorful wind in the sky, a certain promise that I have always kept in my heart suddenly appeared again.

I looked up until Lucien's voice rang in my ears.

Lucien: Do you like flying kites?

I turned my head, his eyes moved with the kite in the air.

MC: I don't like it, it's just... I have a promise with someone to fly a kite before the end of spring.

MC: But until the end of that spring, this promise didn't come true.

I think of the little boy standing in the snow in his dream. Perhaps in my wishful thinking, I hope that he will be like me and remember this promise.

....it's a pity.

How about treating everything from before as a heavy snowfall?

MC: Huh?

Lucien: It is not often that the author compares the plight of people's hardship and attrition to a heavy snow, and after the leap, the heavy snow melts into a spring day.

Lucien: Spring is not necessarily just a fixed time.

Lucien: Look...

He said, catching a petal slowly in the air, in the bright sunlight, it was full of fresh and vivid colors.

Lucien: Now, spring has just begun.

MC: Isn't it a big mess?

Lucien: How come?

His eyebrows were crooked, as if holding all his nostalgia and regrets gently in front of me.

Saying slyly and softly that he is not late yet.

MC: Lucien, I will treat you to a coffee.

MC: As a thank you, I want you to promise me one thing.

After I said that, I turned and left, quickly bought two cups of coffee, and happily walked towards Lucien.

MC: Lucien, we....

Suddenly something exploded in my chest.

A faint tremor spread from the soles of my feet to the top of my head, making me unable to move my legs and staying on the spot in a daze.

I lowered my head, and the sudden cold spot on my chest exuded a bright red, gradually expanding, and then a stinging burning sensation swept through my body.

I dropped my hand and let the coffee hit the ground.

The strong smell of blood rushed into the nose, and the body leaned back uncontrollably.

I seem to hear the whistling wind passing by my ears, and I seem to hear Lucien calling my name.

I seem to have seen him running towards me nervously.

I never seeing him like this.

My body was so painful that like I was torn, my eyelids were too heavy to open, and everything in front of me became trance.

The last thing I saw, the only thing I could see clearly was Lucien's face

After the girl didn't move, Lucien heard a faint sound in the air.

The sound of gunshots arriving slowly over a long distance, without any concealment, did not cause any waves in the lively park.

But this silent sound hit Lucien's heart fiercely.

All the blood rushed to the brain almost at this moment, and he felt the heart thumping a hundred times more intensely than before.

For a moment, he hoped that he had heard it wrong and had a wrong judgment. The girl would soon jump up to him and handed the coffee in her hand to himself.

Today will still be an ordinary and even beautiful day.

But none of these hopes happened.

He looked at the bright red blooming on the girl's chest and the bright smile on her face.

The coffee hit the ground unexpectedly, and the brown splashes dirty the corners of her skirt.

Lucien almost ran towards the girl and caught her who had fallen.

The sticky red liquid overflowed with tears from her chest. He pressed hard on the wound, but the blood continued to flow down his fingers.

He tightly circled the girl, his knuckles turned pale because of too much force.

But she closed her eyes quietly, without any response, the temperature was fading little by little.

Lucien couldn't see the sadness in his eyes, nor could he see the fear that he had never even thought of.

But he clearly saw that in the black and white world, the only color was slowly fading.

The breeze blows, and the blooming cherry trees make a rustling sound. The petals and the new green leaves on the branches are slowly falling.

He seemed to hear the sound of a solidified door being gently opened.

Spring is here, and everything seems to have just begun.

A fleeting reflection flashed from the roof a hundred meters away, and the black shadow neatly put away the gun and disappeared on the roof.

??: The target has been shot and the mission result is being confirmed.

The mini computer in hand displayed some kind of data analysis, and soon the red light from the screen was reflected on the man's lens.

??: The CORE gene recognition bullet has no response, and the target can be eliminated.

Love and Fleeting Time (3rd Anniversary)- Song Analysis

A couple of weeks ago, I did a music analysis and translation of the entire concert for the KR server here where there will be a couple of songs that I will be referring to. This is the musical analysis for the track showcased during the 3rd Anniversary PV played at the end of the concert. Contains minor spoilers- mentions of Season 2!

If anyone had studied film, the arts, or literally is a fic writer, you would know that the sentence you write or shot you take is something of high value and intent that would contribute to the building of a particular work.

Music is the same. Everything is intentional and necessary. Everything you hear commits to a particular purpose/theme and the message you want to convey. The MLQC music tracks in particular have no lyrics, which accentuates the fact that the emotions, the connections and the information you gather comes strictly from the various instruments and sounds that you hear.

This, therefore makes music analysing much fun but a lot more complicated.

For example, without lyrics we have to be extra vigilant. A certain note or instrument could present itself and we might have to correlate that to something in the gameplay. Or, if a certain instrument represented a certain personality, we would have to expand on that, too.

The dot-points are the musical terms/instruments named that you can hear. - Dashes underneath will be the storyline connection and interpretation to the music.

No dashes or dot points mean that the sentence is the analysis and/or retelling of the PV.

Analysis

@cheri-cheri did her own interpretation which I also would be emphasising similar points that I agree with in my own analysis down below.

Piano enters as a solo, with melody in right hand and arpeggiated left-hand accompaniment. (0:00-0:09) - We are introduced to the piano, which represents MC. - In music and storylines, she is always associated by this instrument. An example would be that she duets with Gavin on the piano in the CN Mark Date. - Her presence can also be felt in the pure piano of the Loveland opening.

As the PV plays, we see the different memories that MC and the boys have made.

We also see MC gently holding a landing snowflake. Snowflakes represent rebirth and purity. As it melts, it cleanses by transforming into water, suitable for transformation and new beginnings. We are also reminded of the Winter World events, from Chapters 19+.

Feathers in the background also represent trust, faith, ascension, and a sign of the 'highest honour'. They also hold a strong correlation to MC all throughout Season 1.

Acoustic guitar enters with similar arpeggiated chords to accompany melody. (0:09-0:16) - This guitar we hear is Gavin. - This is because he is always seen playing the guitar. He duets with MC on it while she plays the piano in the CN Mark Date. - The melody played is similar to his Season 1 theme song, Blue Temperature. - His track Dim Starlight Night is of pure guitar too.

Electronic harp doubles the piano melody and adds an extra texture, top-heavy music. (0:16-0:32) - This represents Kiro. - It gives a more uplifting feel to the present melody with its higher notes. - This suits Kiro as he's known to be the most chipper out of the 5 guys! - The melody is again subtly similar to his Season 1 theme song Sweet Accomplice.

Cello enters with an expressive melodic line. (0:33-0:40) - Victor. Yes. - His classic cello is always heard in his theme songs in Season 1's Between Time, Season 2, and Gradual Brewing of the Heart’s Melody. - This is as well similar to his Season 1 theme song.

Slowly all instruments are joining in with the flow of the piano melody. - In the main plot as MC meets the boys, they all become very important people to her and vice versa. They would do anything to safeguard MC from danger, and she too, dedicates herself to protect humanity and those she loves.

All instruments through the use of vibrato enhances the emotions, merging and carrying each other to lead to the climax. (0:41-0:49)

The PV continues to show us how the boys were like when they were younger without MC by their side. It then transitions to them being with her, allowing themselves to show their more affectionate and tender sides.

All these memories so far are from Season 1.

Electronic drum kit and violin section enters with melody and harmony lines for the chorus. (0:49-1:22)

Dynamics (volume) increase.

You can also hear subtly in the back the three instruments above while the violin- the more dominant instrument, carries the melody. - The new addition of the instruments representing the guys in the main melody are the drums. - This represents Lucien. - It is also similar-sounding to his Night Fireworks Season 1 theme song, but quicker, almost like heartbeats. - It's also heard in A Curtain of Deep Love and his Season 2 track.

As the chorus ends, instruments suddenly drop out to a dramatic pause, slowly returning to its previous melody of the few bars of cello, piano and the drum kit. (1:22-1:30) - Victor's majestic cello dominates this piece.

This part is played in C major/A minor (a very ‘classic’ key), with a combination of minor and major chords. This helps maintain the interest of the listener.

Gavin's guitar returns, adding to the melody. (1:31-1:39)

Violins then join in. (1:39-1:54)

The music starts to pick up again with all the instruments for the second chorus to come in. (1:54-2:11)

As this occurs, we can also hear the subtle nudges of electric guitar accompanying the melody. - This represents Shaw. - He is always seen playing the bass similar to the electric guitar, playing for his band Isolated at the Livehouse in various dates.

Slowly, we progress to the ending of Season 1, and the boys state their wishes and promises of what will occur for "next time".

The words/Chinese characters throughout the PV are from MC's perspective- her thoughts during her transition into Season 2.

MC finally enters Black Cabin.

The electric guitar is then heard dominantly with the violins in the last minute of the piece, changing the tone colour overall. (2:11-2:30) - This suits Shaw like how he meets MC that day, as the bolt of lightning who had appeared in her life. - (This is the best part of the track in my opinion!)

By the time this second chorus plays, we see past memories of dates that MC had with the guys in Season 1.

After, we see the Season 2 versions of themselves when MC meets them again.

MC is reminded that no matter what world or universe, they're still essentially the same boys she knows and loves.

The other instruments start to become more sound after this section as the electric guitar still lingers in the back. (2:30-2:42)

noThe violin, piano and electronic drum kit feature on a A minor chord. (2:42-3:06)

The piano and violin together land the ending of the track. - Starting with MC, ending with MC.

As the PV ends, we see the boys as snowflakes dancing to MC's music.

Shards also dance around the snowflake boys, symbolising the memories they had before that had been shattered, now needing to rebuild and reshape them into something new from the result of their rebirth.

Hey there, I hope you're doing well! I was just wondering if the new SSRs and ERs in the newest Memory Bay event for MLQC EN server will ever return. I hate that they're changing the format for obtaining these karmas and it's honestly stressing me out, even though I know it's just a game. I read your explanation post and I guess it just frustrates me that the karmas are much more expensive. Any help you can offer would be appreciated, thank you!

Hi anon! I’m dashing out a reply to your questions here so I hope this makes sense to you:

The Memory Bay format is unique, at least for now. After the uproar that took place among CN server last year, they've decided to stick with the traditional memory maze style event for the rest of the chapter ERs.

I wouldn't say that the Memory Bay ERs are a must get unless you really like them. I haven't released that ER guide because after a while the ER/SER system is a little meh, especially with more SPs released. Stats-wise, I personally don't think ERs are all that worth it. I usually only get them in top-up events for that reason.

They did refresh the double gem top-ups in the CN server when the Memory Bay event was released—they usually do with most major top-up events. As for the other bundles, I really can't remember since it was more than a year ago since I last participated. Also, I'm not sure if they'll have exactly the same bundles in the EN server, so it's probably worth checking the store.

Top-up karmas—yes, they did in the CN server. It was the first 588 RMB top-up event they had (link to karmas here). They should have these for the EN server as well, but it would be better if you were to look at the official FB page for more information, since I don't play the EN server myself.

The frequency is higher, but it's one less chapter and the cost for an SSR is more or less the same (= quite expensive & not an amount you can collect in ~2 months without paying money 😐), right?

MLDD server shut down and "compensation" [Link to full tweet]

It is finally happening.

Mldd will officially shut down on June 6th and all our data will be wiped. Can't say I didn't see this coming but it still hurts. That's 2 years worth of our effort and money gone down the drain.

We have the option to transfer our gems over to a newly created mlqc account along with some "bonus" gifts based on our vip exp...and that's it. I will be getting gift III which is 1500gems, 10 galaxy wish, 10 sunrise wish, vip trial and some mats. I rather keep my karmas than gems tho. The compensation as they call it is not enough to cover the cost of 1 SSR unless you get lucky with the wish tree.

Some of the things I am sad about losing are my karma collection, 31 SSRs (15 are Kiro's), archive of Kiro's rumors and secrets (weirdly I love R&S and I'm actually upset about this), top 50 shine like stars rank, limited avatar frames, unlocked outfits, story dates, game progression and cn voiceovers. I know others who will be losing more than me and I can only imagine how they must be feeling rn.

I wasn't sure if I want to start over again. I thought I should just install it at the very least to be able to transfer my gems while deciding if I should quit. So anyway I messed around for quite a bit and I think I understand why some players left for mlqc. The functions are more intuitive and there was so much more story content. Then I checked out Kiro's birthday event and when I saw the bday karma...I got a little emotional. 2 years is too short and I was not ready to say goodbye to Kiro and the other guys. I'm talking about a bunch of pixels like they are real but it was what kept me going sometimes. I decided to stick around for a while and I speed ran the first few chapters until I had enough dawn wishes for a free 10 pull. And guess what. I'm not bluffing, I have it recorded on video. The very first karma and out comes...Kiro SSR whisk you away. I dunno if this is the smart thing to do but I am taking this as a sign to stay and start a new journey.

As a mldd player who has never installed mlqc and took extreme measures to avoid spoilers for some time, loading the game and discovering the differences for the first time...is an experience.

Quick summary, these are my first impressions:

We get the choice of 1 SR from the start. Seen this before on mldd but it was during a later update. I wasn't aware it was for new players which is nice.

Thought I was stuck with the old interface until later chapters reveal the other version which was the same as mldd. Huge relief. The default terrace background is nice too.

There's definitely more QOL functions like "claim all" button for dailies and friends stamina.

More convenient ways of obtaining mats from the karma page

Didn't like the auto complete 10 mats. I prefer a smaller number like 5 in mldd. Then again there are other ways to go about this like the quick remake button.

Profile page lets you write a short bio and display 4 karmas. That's neat.

House feature. This deserves its own post.

The shop and gem exchange. Like I said I love R&S a lot so right away I noticed hourglass costs real money, not gems. Sad. I calculated the gem exchange and found it costs a little bit more. Vip costs the same even after conversion surprisingly.

New types of karmas. Not sure how they all work yet.

24hr challenge is literally a challenge with so many missing karmas.

As a fellow Gavin stan, I found your analysis quite interesting and I'm very happy that someone finally understand the other side of our ginkgo boy... Idk whether you play in CN server or MLQC. I'm just curious, what do you think of Gavin in S2? Because I hear that everything is gonna be different. Also, the latest main story in CN server--do you think the story will be more angst?

Please excuse my belated answer. I waited specifically for cheri’s translation of the S2 CH11, so that I could give you a worthy answer <3

I play MLQC, because I don’t understand Chinese (yet), so I am following @cheri-translates on a daily basis for the season 2 material. (Thank you cheri, you’re the best! (ɔˆ ³(ˆ⌣ˆc) )

From what we get so far, Gavin shows some differences in his aura and character in S2 due to two main reasons:

1) He didn’t have the extreme teenage drama from S1 (except for his mother’s passing)

2) He and MC were companions during high school, so their relationship has a healthier fundament.

The events of the second season take place in a “parallel universe”, therefore MC’s relationships vary from those in S1. But also the Loveland City they are in is a different one, with different players but also different villains. So things DO change in S2 in general.

What do I think about Gavin in S2?

I - AM - IN - LOOOOOOOVVVEEEE - WITH - HIM!!! <3 <3 <3

Gavin was the main reason I watched the anime and downloaded the game in the first place. He was a very caring, understanding, talented and *ehm extremely good looking guy. He still is btw. This guy has a very big heart and is the most human among all LIs if you ask me. But sometimes I had the feeling in S1, that he wasn’t reaching to his full potential. His love for MC was at times awkward, mainly because he doubted himself a lot and was underestimating himself in many topics with regards to MC. His past with his father and brother was also weighting on him big time. Thus affecting his actions to a great extent. Gavin’s potential was bound by ball and chains and he didn’t seem to be able to free himself from them. And yet, he was a resilient guy, who made peace with his past, always finding the love&faith in his heart and following his own path. Those unnecessary insecurities caused by his experiences were Gav-babe’s downside in S1.

In the second season, we meet a very self confident Gavin who doesn’t get worked up in front of MC easily, let alone shy away from her. On the contrary, Gavin is teasing MC shamelessly and even toys around with her as he lets her hover over the ocean. Would you ever think that S1 Gavin would dare to do that? :D He interrogates her just for the kicks even though he doesn’t suspect her one bit, or asks her if he should detain her, since she looked like she was asking for it (I really recommend you to read the scene in CH11). Gavin is carefree towards MC and this makes him unbelievably attractive. Sure, I was surprised at first as I saw him immobilizing MC after meeting her for the first time after many years and was afraid, that he would be hostile towards her. Thankfully, this wasn’t the case...so far.

In S1, Gavin and MC were already in a harmonious relationship and were moving forward side by side gradually. But they were also having difficulties in terms of protecting each other from harm’s way and hiding their dangerous missions or wounds from each other. Which didn’t go along with a healthy relationship, even though they came a long way by the end of the S1. Plus, their positions weren’t even equal in respect of being a couple since Gavin was quite the simp and was insecure at times about his interactions with the MC. There was a teenage Gavin in him, who was telling him that he wasn’t good enough for her, that he is useless, that he is worthless. Therefore he always had his gloves on, so the speak.  

These insecurities are downed to a minimum in S2 and Gavin no longer has the self loathing inner thoughts, so it feels as though, he is the real Gavin. The Gavin who he could be, he should be. Up to this point (S2 CH11). I feel like we are watching a Gavin who’s reached, or is reaching, to his full potential. 

In S2, we see him co-operating with MC right from the beginning with little reluctance at first, which is natural since -you know- they are working for the opposing sides. But then we saw in CH11, that they make one hell of a team! In all honesty, Gavin and MC don’t even need to talk to each other to understand what the other thinks. We witnessed many times in S1 when they were thinking/saying/doing the same thing at the same time. But this time, they are aware of the fact that they can see through each other without words. Moreover, they banter with each other by calling one another out. Which is mostly Gavin calling her out btw. This almost flirt-like sweet bantering makes their interaction all the more titillating to me. The chemistry between them is very evident and Papergames makes sure to let us producers know, the attraction is mutual and on equal grounds. Maybe its only my opinion, but I find S2 Gavin way more sexier than the Version 1.0. But its probably because I find self-confidence to be the sexiest trait a person can have. 

On a side note, Gavin also doesn’t display jealousy as in S1 and I believe this also has to do with his self confidence. Jealousy is an emotion which arouses from lack of self-confidence and trust. And the level of trust Gavin and MC share in S2 is off the charts, dare I claim.

One might even say, that the tables have turned in S2. MC has her memories from S1 whereas Gavin has started having flashbacks or dreams about their past just recently. Because of that MC already carries her romantic feelings from S1, she is the one with denser emotions in the new chapters and is rather insecure in front of Gavin. Thus making herself vulnerable for his “toying sessions”. Gavin on the other hand is beginning to explore his heart’s desires towards MC only piece by piece. He cares a great deal about her and is drawn to her inevitably, but can’t quite put his finger on it. His body and soul is already reacting to her, but his mind is a little bit slow on this front. But as stated in R&S “Inevitable”, his heart is destined to get drawn to hers. 

Whether the story is going to get angstier...Let’s not fool ourselves, Papergames has the word angst in block letters carved in marble in their office. So yeah, I am pretty sure that the story is going to get angstier. But I haven’t seen anything as angsty as in S1 CH13, 14, 15, 18. Those chapters were really hard to read, but let’s wait and see.

Another important point about Gavin’s character in S2 is related to his position. He is now the Commander of the STF and therefore carries a heavier responsibility than in S1. We see in every chapter how strategically he is acting and picking the best option in which nobody gets hurt. He is still a maverick and does things in his own way and yet he is now well aware of the fact that each of his actions are affecting great numbers of people. With his subordinates he shares special bonds all the while keeping them disciplined and whatever he does, he prioritizes everybody’s safety equally (only with MC as an exception).  Of course, this was one of his strengths also in S1, but in S2, he can have a bigger impact, since he has more resources to do so. He has become the perfect leader.

Which can be tied to his balanced temper. In S1 there were times, where Gavin wasn’t able to control his Evol and caused mayhem. We haven’t seen any uproar like this in S1 so far. Gavin is in control of his Evol, his emotions and his blushes...hih...well... almost. But he certainly blushes much less in S2. 

So to sum it up, yes, Gavin is different in S2, but in all the good ways and I couldn’t find anything that goes in the wrong direction so far. We have a more mature, confident and experienced Gavin in S2 and I can simply say:

Hello!! Yesterday morning after reading the first announcement, I wouldn't have expected this mlqc issue to grow this severe and serious as it did on social media!! Maybe I didn't realize how serious the consequences are and I feel a bit ashamed that I didn't understand sooner. I'm slowly getting more and more concerned about this issue.

I just don't know who to talk to about it and I've just been checking everywhere for updates on Twitter or Tumblr or Instagram. I can only think of maybe four possible outcomes . . .

1. Papergames (with government approval?) accept the apology from the VA and everything can be back to normal (as normal as it can) with revised contracts to make terms clearer. I hope for this scenario but . . . I'm not sure if it's likely after seeing the Papergames customer service response.

2. The game will continue but the VAs will change.

3. The ENG server gets shut down.

4. The game continues but with CN dub instead.

This issue started by a few words and I'm just so worried I don't know what to do and I don't know who to rant to about it! It's so hard to focus on anything but this. I know it's just a game but I think the implication of Papergames' action raises concerns (kind of like the SP Valentine event). It is awful especially because they have to obey their government's laws.

I don't think Victor's VA is wrong but I can't help wonder if he regret saying those few words because of the domino effect it lead to for the mlqc community?

When I saw that you welcome rants, I tried not rant but I can't help it! I rewatched the older chapters PV, thinking of the simpler times! I think I just want to talk to someone about this. Thank you so much for reading! I hope we'll get the official announcement soon with good news . . .

Hello! You are completely fine coming to me to rant/vent. I literally said my ask was open for that so please be okay with it :)

Sadly not a lot people know the issue between China and Taiwan. I have a history degree so I pay attention to a lot of this kind of thing when it comes up in the news or just the overall history of it so I knew about it. I don’t think you should feel bad because honestly if you weren’t directly involved/knew the history between the two countries how would you know? It’s okay to not know things, but I do think it’s important to educate yourself when stuff like this comes to light.

In regards to the game continuing things are not looking very good right now. They could very much get new voice actors but “firing” Jonah so publicly all over a tweet saying a country is a country I guarantee will put them on a black list for voice actors not wanting to work for them. The voice acting community is very close knit too. So personally I think the game is going to shut down the Chinese government isn’t going to bend to this because it would make them look bad. I’m an American so I am completely against censorship & the very fact that he literally just said Taiwan is a country shows how corrupt the Chinese government is. & they do this with pretty much everything, censorship is everywhere.

Jonah had every right to say what he said. They had no legal reasons to fire him whatsoever & there was nothing in their contract about this too. & the fact that they thought they could do this without the EN server becoming outraged just goes to show how corrupt it is to think they can do whatever they want. & we don’t do that here in America so 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m not trying to sound super negative but I have a bad feeling that they will not say anything and continue on with the game like nothing happened if it doesn’t get shut down. We need to be prepared for that sadly. Again, my ask is always open! My IM thing too. Hang in there!
